A Hot Chocolate Embrace

A Poem by Hana Lee-Thorne, for her wife Kiara.

She makes me love winters

Her arms are a blanket I could sink into

Her warmth is the slow sweet descent

of the silkiest hot chocolate

sliding down my throat.

A comfort that cascades

into every nerve-ending,

down to my fingertips and toes

They tingle with life at her touch

In her laughter I find home -

deep and rumbling

loud and raucous

unafraid and unashamed,

unminding of the heads that turn, speculating

She refuses to mask

that tiny kiss of cocoa bitterness

with the cloying weight

of too much sugar

She makes me want

to adore the mess more

The mess I can make if I dare

to forget every etiquette lesson

and just drink -

chocolate moustache be damned

If I - for once, just once - stop worrying

and let my mouth be stained

a deep

warm

chocolate

brown

if I - for once, just once - leave my cares

for what will everyone say!

behind

She rewards me for my growing nonchalance,

kissing the stains on my skin

She never fails

to reintroduce me

to a self I never believed existed

She is home.

She is the warm blanket I sink into

as I watch the glittering snowflakes outside

She is the fireplace whose crackling sounds

will puntuate every sigh of fulfillment

that I will find in her arms.

She is that mug of hot chocolate

that I will recreate every day

following the steps

like they are an act of worship

closing my eyes and breathing in

the sweet, luxuriant aroma

of chocolate calinte

like it is a prayer

The sparkle in her eyes

when that final errant drop

stains the corner of her mouth -

teasing me

making me want to kiss it -

I accept it greedily; it is

a blessing from the gods

Since she stepped on the scene, few have attracted more interest than Hana Lee, whose rise to notoriety has been unparalleled, rising from obscure suitor to a plum position on the Royal Council. I sat with her to discuss her upbringing and elevation to the upper echelon of Cordonian high society.

Dame Hana Lee GotR, RC glides into the room a few minutes early, before I’ve even gotten the chance to settle myself.

“I’m sorry to have kept you waiting,” she apologizes politely, despite the fact that she’s early (Cordonian aristos are famously punctual). While she explains that she was on a phone call relating to some work she’s been doing, I give her a quick one over. As usual, she’s dressed impeccably, wearing a smartly tailored jumpsuit in her signature floral print.

I compliment her attire and ask her who designed her jumpsuit, and she suddenly becomes very shy, reminiscent of when she first made her debut. “Oh, I did. I still have to modify it a bit though,” she says completely self-effacingly, though from where I’m sitting, I see nothing wrong with it.

Despite a few stumbles in her debut season, it’s easy to forget that Dame Hana Lee was not born in Cordonia, and that her debut season was the first time in her life she’d spent extended time in the country.

Born and raised in Shanghai as the only child of The Rt. Hon. The Viscountess Cleosia (a famously reclusive and enigmatic figure) and Lee Xinghai, a Shanghainese tech billionaire, she was raised “like a good Chinese daughter, but to know I was Cordonian too.”

For the Lees, this meant ensuring hours of Cordonian etiquette training and Greek tutoring (they exclusively spoke Mandarin, Shanghainese, and English at home). Her Greek is flawless, and blessedly, Cordonian, not Continental. However, I note that her Greek lacks the cutesy intonation of Cordonia’s nobility. She nods. “My Greek tutor was a former literature teacher, not a noblewoman. She was a lovely woman who never allowed me to feel insecure about my accent,” she reveals, before pausing a moment. “She’s always found a way to keep in touch with me and we send each other cards quite frequently. I’m actually working on a set of clothes for her grandson.”

This was a distinct departure from the childrearing practices followed by of the nobility. Most women of Lee’s background would be given a governess or au pair as soon as they could walk, before attending the best schools in Cordonia, or studying abroad at the best boarding schools in Europe or in the United States. They’d attend the best universities, then leverage their refinement and sophistication to marry a noble of equal or higher rank (or lower rank, if their family was wealthier). They’d have 2-3 children and spend the rest of their lives as charity patronesses and society matrons.

Despite being raised abroad, being raised as the daughter of a noblewoman also meant being raised with one goal: marriage. It’s partially why the right schools are emphasized so much for the nobility. Most marriages within Cordonia’s aristocracy are between individuals who’ve known each other since childhood.

Though her path was distinctly non traditional, marriage was still the goal; she was trained for years to be the perfect Cordonian wife. When her engagement to Peter Foredale-Harper, Viscount Foredale, an English nobleman and heir to the Earl of Edgewater was announced, it seemed as though her parents’ aspirations had succeeded and that she was fated to become just another well-married courtier. But fate can often be fickle.

"It has always been our shared wish to marry for love, not convenience. As we approach our planned wedding date, we have concluded that our wish will not be made by our marrying each other. While we will always be best friends, we cannot and will not marry each other. We wish each other the best and express regret towards anyone disappointed by the cancellation of our wedding."

That was the statement announcing the end of her engagement to Viscount Foredale. Despite the fact that the former couple remained on good terms (and English high society still speaks highly of her), it seemed as though the social embarrassment of a failed engagement would keep her from making a successful match. Until Prince Leo announced the end of his engagement to the Countess of Fydelia, Lee’s failed engagement was the leading issue of gossip at high society parties; a cautionary tale against the unorthodox parenting methods of her parents and a cautionary tale about forgetting one’s duties.

Then, as though fate itself gave her another chance, Hana Lee entered the courting season of the new Prince of Stormholt, the now King Philip VI. Perhaps owing to her diminished social standing, or maybe just the shyness that dogged her in those days, Lee ceased to be considered a legitimate contender for Philip’s hand before it even became apparent that the courtiers were now vying for the title of Queen, not Princess.

Despite her early elimination, Hana demonstrated the skill that’s led her to astonishing heights, rapidly becoming a close friend of the future Queen Kaela, perhaps as a case of two outsiders sticking together. She rejects this framing emphatically: “I’m not really an outsider, and I’m not sure I could have called myself one even back then. My mother is noble, my father is wealthy. Cordonia’s social graces are ingrained within me; every courtship dance, dining etiquette, and even equestrianism. Her Majesty was an outsider. She didn’t have the advantages I had and she still triumphed, despite some very nasty, unfair, and untrue things being said about her by several publications, including yours,” she says.

I’m forced to acknowledge the truth of her statement. After the infamous Applewood leak, Globe Cordonia was one of several magazines to rush to judgment in a scandal that ultimately resolved itself once Lord Tariq Khouri publicly cleared the air and took full accountability for what he called a misunderstanding. Though I try to gently prod for more information, she won’t share any more than what she’s already said.

If it wasn’t a case of two outsiders bonding, what was it?

“Her Majesty cared. Not just about my social standing, but about me as a person. Her success is my success and my success is hers.”

Perhaps it’s this earnestness that’s powered Cordonia’s most iconic friendship, and everything that’s come from it; Lee was made a Guardian of the Realm and Royal Councilor and is a godmother to Princess Yvonne. She has been publicly praised as a driving force behind Queen Kaela’s efforts to expand arts programs across Cordonia.

I ask her about her influence behind the scenes, and she shakes her head bemusedly. “I don’t think I work behind the scenes. I definitely use my influence to help move the country towards what I hope is a better direction, but I do that openly. It’s no secret that the Queen and I are strong supporters of the arts and arts education.”

The Queen isn’t the only strong supporter of arts education. So too is her girlfriend, Kiara Theron, Marchioness of Bellmere. It’s another relationship that sprouted during that first courting season, though from all accounts, their relationship postdates Hana’s friendship with Queen Kaela. I ask her if there was any early difficulty in forming a same-sex relationship when there was already such a deep connection with another woman, and she takes a moment to respond.

“Not for me, because there are different kinds of love. I love Her Majesty. She is the best friend I never thought I deserved and the sister of my heart. But I love Kiara, who is everything I could imagine in a life partner and more,” she begins, her eyes sparkling. “She has never given me a reason to question why I love her or whether I should, and she has never asked me to explain my feelings for her. Our relationship is secure because she makes it secure.”

It certainly can’t hurt that the Marchioness is the heiress of a Great House, a Royal Councilor, and set to inherit one of Cordonia’s largest fortunes, can it?

She laughs heartily at the suggestion. “If it were about status and wealth, I’d have tried harder to become Queen. You’ve already referred to me as Cordonia’s most influential courtier. I’m a member of the Royal Council. I'm surrounded by the love of my friends and the love of a very spectacular woman. What more could I possibly need?”

That’s an apt question, and I sit with it for a moment. Despite her unorthodox upbringing and severe social setbacks, she has reached heights most courtiers can only dream of. She has formed genuine connections, not just in her sisterhood with the Queen but in her romance with Kiara Theron. She is able to use her platform to advocate for her passions and make a difference for Cordonia.

And truly, with friends, love, the ability to promote one’s interests, and the influence to be taken seriously, what more could anyone need?

Hana Appreciation Week Day 5: Family - Friendship - Romance

For the last day of Hana Appreciation Week, I chose Romance so I could draw my MC Krystal Lee (Used to be Cristalle, but I'm changing the way it's spelled out) and yes, I HC that my MC took Hana's last name when they got married 🥰

One of my HCs for Krystal is that she started to dislike the spotlight on her because she feels like they don't give enough credit/spotlight to her wonderful wife so each time she would get that spotlight, she would mention how wonderful Hana is each time and Hana is always blushing each time! My MC really love Hana and she wants her wife to be recognized by everyone for her talents and her kindness!

HLAW Day 4: Competitive/Culinary AU

The Cordonian Bake-off

Pairing: Famous baker Hana Lee x master chef turned baker Raelyn Zane (nonbinary OC)

I decided to combine both Competitive Hana and culinary into one fic. Hana is one of the world's famous bakers, winning all sorts of awards and even had her own show. The problem is that annoying master chef Raelyn Zane is slowly infringing onto Hana's territory. In a competition with all other opponents defeated, it's down to just Hana and Raelyn. Can Hana stay on top? Or will Raelyn's flirtation be her downfall?

"And the clock is ticking folks! Our two finalists are going head to head in this final round of who is Cordonia's best baker!" Carson's voice and the studio audience's cheers were mere background noise to Hana as she quickly went to the cupboards to gather her ingredients. Flour, baking soda-Hana's train of thought abruptly crashed to a halt at the feel of her rival behind her.

Raelyn pressed up behind her, one hand on her hip, their front pressed all along her back as they reached over her head to grab the brown sugar on the top shelf. Hana spun around and Raelyn grins that maddening grin.

"Just need some sugar, sugar." Raelyn winks and backs away. Hana huffs

"There's sugar all the way over there." Raelyn just grins and casts a lazy glance where Hana is pointing.

"Ah. So there is." Raelyn says before turning back to their station. Hana takes a deep breath and hurries back to her station. She refuses to let that infuriating, cute baker get in her head.

The time seemed to fly as the two culinary geniuses worked on their masterpieces. At one point Hana's eyes drifted over to her rival and she marveled at Raelyn's intensity and steady hand as they encased their dessert in meringue. Feeling her eyes on them, they looked up and immediately their facial features softened, the two rivals getting lost into each other's eyes.

"Uh oh, it seems like our two rivals are staring each other down!" Carson's voice shattered the moment and Hana quickly looked back at her work of art, shaking her head to clear it. Their time was almost up!

Soon the audience was counting down the timer.

"4...3...2...1!"

"Alright contestants! If you would please stop and present your desserts to the judges." Carson announces. Soon Hana was carefully sitting her croquembouche tower next to Raelyn's elegant dessert. Hana's heart sank as she eyed Raelyn's perfect looking baked Alaska. Lemon meringue was the most challenging dessert for her and Raelyn's work looked like a master piece.

"What do you have for us contestants?" One of the judges ask. Raelyn nods at Hana to go first.

"My dessert is a croquembouche. A French dessert made up of cream-filled profiteroles stacked together in the cone shape, you see before you, and then caramelized." Hana says proudly.

"It looks beautiful Miss. Lee. What about you Mx. Zane?"

"My dessert is a baked Alaska. A layer of sponge cake topped with chocolate ice cream and raspberry sorbet encased in meringue and baked in the oven." Raelyn states.

"A very elegant dessert, Mx. Zane." Yvette Flynte, one of the judges says before they all dug into Hana and Raelyn's desserts. Hana and Raelyn stood tensely as the cameras panned across their faces and the judges whispering among themselves.

"We've come to a decision. First off Mx. Zane, your baked Alaska is beautiful. The flavors are complimentary and are perfect together. The only problem is that it has no soul. I've taste tested many of your other dishes Mx. Zane. Your consomme devilish dish is one of the best I've ever had, dare I say, better than mine. Until you've capture that spark that you have with your main course dishes, your desserts will always be lacking." Yvette Flynte says. Raelyn looks down at their feet for a moment before looking back up with a soft smile.

"Thank you Miss. Flynt for your feedback. I'll definitely keep that in mind."

"Now Miss. Lee. This is the best croquembouche I've ever had. The cream filling is different but flavorful, the profiteroles crisp but light to perfection. That is why Miss. Hana Lee...you are this year's winner of the Cordonian Bake-Off!" At this confetti falls from the ceiling and the audience goes wild. Hana gape at the judges who stand up to shake her hand. She looks back at Raelyn who is proudly clapping for her and mouths to her, "good job". Afterwards everything is a blur as the judges present her trophy and she makes her winning statement.

It isn't until she's alone backstage when Raelyn walks into her room.

"Hey congrats! That's one big shiny trophy you got there." Raelyn says walking up to Hana who blushes.

"Thank you. Second place isn't a bad accomplishment yourself." Hana says, Raelyn shrugs.

"It was never really about winning the competition, I mean don't get me wrong. I wanted to win, mainly to impress you but..."Raelyn trails off suddenly unsure of themselves.

"But why? What made you compete then?" Hana asks.

"I mean, broadening my horizons, challenging myself and learning new things is kind of my jam. But mainly I joined this competition to be able to join your circles. I wanted to make an impression on you."

"You definitely made an impression on me. Mainly an annoying one." Hana says heart thumping in her chest. Raelyn wryly rubs the back of their neck.

"Yeah, probably not my best work. I'm sorry. Can we start over? Maybe collab some time?" Raelyn asks nervously.

"Perhaps. Only if you kiss me." Hana says shocking even herself by her boldness. Raelyn lights up and immediately brings their lips together. When they pulled back they have that once maddening now endearing grin on their face.

"What?" Hana asks

"Perhaps I left a different impression on you than just annoyance." Raelyn says smirking, Hana rolls her eyes and grabbing them by the lapels kisses them again.

“Thank you for sharing your music with me.”

Hana turned the words over in her mind. She hadn’t known Riley for long, but Hana had gotten the impression that she was careful about the way she chose her words. And Riley had been impressed tonight; her eyes and the way she had leaned in close, listening with rapt attention, had said as much.

Haunting and beautiful, were the words she had used to describe Hana’s composition, but she had chosen to part with words of gratitude.

Hana finished washing her face and straightened as she patted her face dry. She looked at herself in the mirror, free of makeup, hair swept back. Her own eyes held her in place, imploring.

Hours ago she would have said that she had invited Riley to the parlor because they were becoming friends. Maybe she would have even admitted that she felt safe with Riley. Riley was a breath of fresh air. When she asked Hana questions about herself, she was actually interested in knowing who Hana was, and not just where Hana fit into the game of chess that everyone else in Hana’s life seemed to be playing.

Maybe that’s why she had chosen to play her own composition for Riley. She had written it at such a lonely time in her life, maybe she had always wanted to be seen and heard.

Hana stood and made her way to the bed. She pulled back the covers and considered how much she loved to play, so much so that she couldn’t bear to be coerced or cajoled into putting herself on display.

She slides into bed but sleep doesn’t yet come. She turns over and and looks out into the night sky, through the space between the curtains. Her parents had always wanted her to play Chopin, Mozart, Vivaldi. And Hana had loved it until she realized that it was just a commodity, prestige for prestige’s sake that so many people valued, while Hana knew that the girl pretending to play piano keys in the pond was just like those composers, so full of music that they had to knit the notes together.

“Thank you for sharing your music with me,” Riley had said. Not praises for her excellent taste or admiration for hitting every note perfectly, but gratitude. “Are you sure you want to play for me?” No demands. Because Riley understood what music meant to Hana, after only knowing her for a handful of days.

Hana turns onto her back, stretches her hand out and taps her fingers against the duvet. It’s been too long since she’s composed.

We have crossed the midway mark for our week! There are only two days left, and we're immensely excited with all the wonderful work our Hana fans have put up so far and can't wait to see what's next!

Day 4 is packed with not one, not two, but three themes!

First up is Competitive Hana! One of the most delightful aspects of her growth is the joy she shows in expressing competitiveness and being a tough player. People both in canon and the fandom may fool themselves into viewing her as passive, but seeing her play or pit herself against an opponent tells us a whole different story altogether!!

We also have Music, a favourite among our community of Hana lovers who fondly remember her passion for music (especially the piano).

There's also Culinary Love! Whether it is her happy dance when she dips fries into milkshake, or how she revels in the symbolism of French pastries, or the way she gleefully shows the MC her favourite hot chocolate recipe, food has always had an important and delightful part of Hana's life. We'd love to see how you explore her relationship with food!!

Any content is welcome!! Fanfic, fanart, edits, moodboards, interactive, media, headcanons, screenshots, playlists, meta...even screenshots of your favourite scenes would be great!! Our only requirement is that the content is centered on Hana, and that the depiction of her is positive. You can also send in WIPs in case you don't complete a work!

We will also have an extra week for anyone who still needs time 💕 May 4th will be our final official date for entries (to incorporate into our video!) but HLAW will still be open for entries for the rest of the year until the next event!

HLAW Day 3: AU

Build-A-Bear Date

Pairing: Hana Lee x Raelyn (nonbinary OC)

AU Summary: A boarding school student Hana Lee x public school child of the staff Raelyn. A rich girl Hana x poor kid Raelyn story. Being from a rich family, Hana isn't really suppose to become friends with a "staffie" a kid of a staff member. All staff members and their families can live on campus but the kids have to attend a local public school and is discouraged to interact with the boarding school students. Will that stop a friendship from forming between Hana and Raelyn? Or will something else form between the 2 teenagers?

Hana stops at the sight of the brightly colored yellow and red store, the entrance flanked by plastic teddy bears.

"Uh, Rae? Are you sure this is right? I think this store is only for children." Hana asks nervously, Raelyn grins excitedly.

"Nah, Build-A-Bear is for all ages. No one is too old for a stuffed friend. Do you trust me?" Raelyn asks holding a hand out to Hana prompting a memory of the first day they met.

"Hah, what an embarrassment! The social climber actually thinks she can sit with us?" A beautiful but snobby blonde says snidely, causing her lackeys to giggle mean laughs. Tears welled up in Hana's eyes and she crys out when a smirking redhead knocks her textbooks out of her hands, causing her papers to scatter all over the floor.

Mercifully the bullies walked off as Hana tearfully bends down to pick up her papers. Suddenly ripped jeans and scuffed up converses appeared next to her and the owner of the outfit, that was in violation of the school's dress code, bends down to join Hana and help her gather her papers.

"Don't pay them girls any mind, their parents obviously don't love them so they take it out on you. I'm Raelyn." Hana gape at the kind eyes of her helper that's handing her papers back to her, smiling warmly.

"I-I'm Hana. T-thank you." Hana shyly says. Raelyn seems to light up even more and they offer their hand to Hana who takes it.

Ever since then Hana's life has never been the same.

Hana smiles and takes Raelyn's hand, "of course I trust you." Raelyn grins and leads Hana into the brightly colored whimsical store.

"I remember you said your parents wouldn't let you have a toy growing up, now is your chance to make yourself a friend!" Raelyn fans out their hand towards the wall of stuff animal options.

"Aren't you my friend?" Hana asks playfully.

"Of course! But this friend is allowed in your dorms at night. This one you can hug and squeeze when I'm not around."

Hana blushes and look away at the wall, her eyes sweeping across all the options.

"I'm not sure where to start."

"It's okay! Take your time. Pick the one that speaks the loudest to you, the one that grabs your attention the most." Raelyn says.

Looking across the options, Hana's eyes keep coming back to a frog.

"Maybe that one?" Hana asks pointing to the frog on the wall. Raelyn smiles and pulls an unstuffed frog plushie out of the bin.

"This one look cute enough for you?" Raelyn asks waving the froggie's face towards Hana. Hana bites her lip at how cute Raelyn looks peering back at her and nods before her brow furrows.

"Yes but...it's a little...limp?" Hana says unsure, Raelyn grins.

"Right this minute yeah, but now we stuff him or her or them." Raelyn says, leading Hana to a machine with a worker standing there smiling.

"Ready?" The worker asks and at Raelyn nod, takes the frog, fixes the hole in the back of the frog to a pipe sticking out of the strange machine, and with a press of a pedal begins to fill the frog up with stuffing. Suddenly the worker stops.

"Now if you one of you could pick a heart out and give it a kiss, I can finish stuffing your friend."

Raelyn points at a basket of little fabric hearts attached to the side of the machine and Hana reaches in and grabs one. Hana kisses the heart and hands it to Raelyn. Raelyn kisses the heart on the same side of Hana's kiss,looking straight into her eyes. Hana's gasp is lost in the sound of the worker finishing the stuffing process.

Soon the frog is stuffed and sewn up and in Hana's arms. Raelyn leads Hana to the wall and racks of little clothes, hats and shoes.

"Oh wow! We can dress him up?" Hana asks excitedly. Raelyn nods.

"You bet! Whatever outfit you want."

Eventually the two decide on cute little overalls and after printing off his birth certificate, they head to the cash register.

"Wait, you don't want to make one for yourself?" Hana asks.

"Nah, my other stuffed buddies would get jealous." Leaving out that they couldn't afford to buy Hana's and a second one, but Raelyn didn't mind. They were just happy to be able to give Hana this experience.

Later as they were walking through the mall, Hana sighs heavily.

"My parents won't let me keep him though." Hana says sadly.

"Then he can stay with me when you go home on break."

"Really? You don't mind?" Hana asks hopefully.

"Of course not! Besides he's kinda my son too, right?" Raelyn says a blush darkening their cheeks, Hana blushes too and nods, nervously giggling, before shyly grasping one of Raelyn's hands. Raelyn twines their fingers together and both teenagers' hearts fluttered in their chest.

Hours later after eating supper at a food truck, another first for Hana, Raelyn takes Hana back to her dorms. They're lightly swinging their joined hands when they come to a stop at the side of Hana's dorms. Neither are in a rush to let go though.

"I had fun today, Raelyn."

"Really? You're not just being nice are you?" Raelyn asks bashful. Hana giggles.

"Of course not! I really had fun today! I always have fun when I'm with you. You're always showing me new things but you never make fun of me or think less of me because I'm inexperienced at them." Hana says.

"I'm glad you had a good day. Next time we'll go to the arcade!" Hana giggles.

"I'm sure it'll be fun too, whatever that is." The two stand there smiling at each other for a moment before Raelyn breaks the silence.

"Hana?" Their voice cracks in nervousness. "Uh, can I...maybe kiss you?" Hana's lips part in surprise but she eagerly nods. Raelyn slowly leans toward Hana, giving her time to change her mind but Hana tilts her head and meets Raelyn's lips with her own.

They're both still for a moment, unsure and inexperienced but slowly they begin to shift. Noses bump but then they find their rhythm and the kiss is sweet and perfect. Perfect for a first kiss. They pull back, matching blushing cheeks and excited smiles.

"I'll uh let you go before you're late for curfew, but that was amazing." Raelyn says looking at Hana hopefully. Hana nods her eyes shining like stars.

"Yes! That was...that was everything." Hana says breathlessly. Hana walks to the door of the building and looks back at Raelyn.

"Sweet dreams Rae." Hana says warmly to the still blushing teen.

"Good night Hana."

Hana walks into her room and pulls out Jaime the frog. She looks at him for a second before squealing giddy and hugging him tight. Not knowing that across the campus, Raelyn was just as giddy dancing a little happy jig around a light pole on their back to their own room.

HLAW Day 2: Flowers

A Bouquet for an Angel

Pairing: Hana Lee x nonbinary OC (Raelyn)

TRR book 2

Hana led the twins into the conservatory and were hit with a wave of perfume from hundreds of flowers.

"Did you know that in Victorian society, people communicated with flowers? Every flower has a meaning, so when a lord gave a lady a bouquet, it was as if he were writing her a poem." Hana says running her hands along a petal of a fern.

"That sounds romantic." Riley says grinning and elbowing Raelyn who elbows her back sharply before Hana turns around.

"It wasn't always about romance. Flowers can symbolize friendship, scorn, rivalry and just about anything. We should make a bouquet for the Italian statesman for tomorrow!" Hana says

"Good idea! What about those?" Riley points towards a stem drooping from the weight of 2 dozen small, blue flowers.

"Bluebells are for humility. It could be used as a subtle insult to the receiver." Hana replies. Raelyn snorts, Riley rolls her eyes.

"Okay smarty pants, you pick one." Riley says to Raelyn.

"White roses should be a good one right?" Raelyn says bending to inhale the fragrance of a delicate white rose.

"White roses are known for their unity and purity." -Hana-

"Unity could work!" Riley says, Raelyn plucks a few white roses.

"Oh these are my favorites! Hydrangeas are for heartfelt gratitude." Hana says pointing to some dusty blue-violet hemisphere of petals.

"Gratitude for the hospitality, and unity for Italy and Cordonia? That sounds pretty good, right?" Riley asks. Hana nods her approval and combines the hydrangeas to the bouquet.

"Almost..." Hana trails off to add some greens to the bouquet before offering it to Riley.

"It's beautiful!" Riley says

"And is sure to impress the statesman. Just be sure to leave them in water overnight." Hana says. Riley takes the flowers and grins at the way Hana's eyes keep wandering to Raelyn.

"Oh." Riley fakes a yawn. "I'm sorry, Hana, but I think I'm going to duck out to take a nap, but Raelyn wouldn't mind staying with you to see that night blooming flower, right, Rae?" Riley says to Raelyn who nearly nods their head off.

"I'd love to!" Raelyn says. When Riley has her back turned towards Hana, she wiggles her eyebrows at her twin, who gives her a warning look. Chuckling, Riley takes her leave and Raelyn sidles up to Hana's side.

"So I was hoping you'd help me with a bouquet too, Hana."

"Oh, of course! What message would you like to send with the bouquet?" Hana says smiling warmly at Raelyn.

"Well, it's a bouquet for someone very special to me." Raelyn says staring intensely into Hana's eyes, making Hana blush and bite her lip.

"Is there a flower that means you take my breath away? Perhaps a flower that says you're the most beautiful woman in the world and you make my heart flutter in my chest every time you smile at me?"At Raelyn's words, Hana looks down smiling but Raelyn gently lifts her chin to look at them.

"A flower that means I want to spend the rest of my life, in whatever capacity you'll have of me, making you smile?" Raelyn says causing Hana to gasp at the inclination of Raelyn's words.

"Rae..." Hana trails off before throwing her arms around Raelyn's shoulders and kissing them fiercely.

Time passes in a haze of warm kisses that slowed down from a fierce storm to a gentle caress. When the 2 pulls back to look at the bud of the night blooming flower, they watched the petals unfurl and nearly shimmer in the moonlight.

"Whoa." Raelyn says stunned.

"It's beautiful!" Hana exclaims.

"Not as beautiful as you, Hana."

"Oh Raelyn." Hana says softly.

"I promise, Hana. I'm going to help my sister clear her name, and you and I are going to figure this thing out between us." Raelyn says determined.

A bright smiles creeps onto Hana's face before she replies, "I'd like that very much, my darling."

Happy World Book Day to everyone!! Tomorrow, we will be celebrating Hana's love for books and exploring her tastes in reading! Becoming "well-read" was a skill her mother Lorelai insisted she cultivate, but it soon grew into a passion and in some ways a source of comfort for a lonely young Hana! It allowed her to give free rein to her imagination and conceive new worlds for herself!! So tomorrow we will celebrating Hana and her passion for reading!!

Our other theme this time is AU! The sky is the limit for this one. Imagine any alternative universe (whether just for herself or her with whoever you pair her with) and how Hana will respond to this environment!! Surprise us!

A Day with Marguerite Thorne

When the two duchesses of Valtoria walked through the door, they were immediately greeted by Marguerite Thorne herself.

"Hello, your graces! It's such a pleasure to meet you! I was thrilled when I received a call from you, Duchess Raelyn, about a collaboration with you, Duchess Hana. It's an honor to work with you."

"The honor is all mine! I nearly fainted when my spouse told me that they were able to get me in with you today. Your 2023 Drakovian collection was masterful!" Though Hana is smiling at Marguerite, she squeezed her partner's hand in excitement and gratitude. Raelyn knew they would owe Olivia big time for getting in contact with Marguerite, but it was worth it to see the happiness on Hana's sweet face.

"Thank you. I absolutely adore the suit you made for Duchess Raelyn in your engagement photos. The mix of blues against the stark navy popped as if from a canvas straight from a Thomas Cole painting! Allow me to show you around." Marguerite says leading the couple through the building.

The short tour led to Marguerite's studio and Hana seemed to light up even more as she took the space in.

"Well, Miss. Thorne, this is an amazing set up. I'll get out of here and let the two of you work your magic--" Raelyn starts to back out but Marguerite grasps their arm.

"With a jawline like yours? Absolutely not! You must stay and be our model and our muse!"

"Oh, what fun! Raelyn, you're going to be fitted in a one of kind Marguerite Thorne piece!" Hana says her eyes pleading for Raelyn to stay.
