New Class 1-A Pronouns and Honorifics
It's been a while since I've really talked about my MHA OCs so in this post I'll explain one detail about them that doesn't really come across when writing about them in English: how they speak to each other. I'm specifically referring to honorifics and pronouns. And when I say pronouns, I do not mean things like "she/he/they." I mean the word "I" since Japanese has multiple words used to refer to the self.
I've organized the information into a neat little spreadsheet which I will now share!
Tumblr media
Further details about the spreadsheet below the cut!
The top row of names indicates the addresser/speaker. The order (kind of) goes from most prominent OC to least prominent. Tansai is actually a prominent OC but he's at the end for reasons that I will explain later.
The left-most column of names indicates who is being referred to/spoken to. The order of these names go by the gojūon which can be understood as "Japanese alphabetical order."
Now the colors of the boxes indicate the kind of relationship the addresser has with the addressee. -Pink = crush -Blue = friend -Green = relative -Yellow = classmate -Orange = rival -Red = enemy
Now you know why Tansai was placed at the end: he sees his whole classmates as enemies because he's not actually on their side. Also, the reason why Tansai is in the addresser row but Okimoto is in the addressee column is because "Okimoto Futashi" is the false name of Tansai so his classmate know him and refer to him as such.
.....
Now I'll go through each character (by order of addresser).
Haruka -In the beginning, she strictly uses "watashi" as it's the most polite version of "I" (outside of "watakushi" but then Haruka would come off way too stiff). Later uses "atashi" as she comes out of her shell. -Refers to everyone formally using "-san." She's overly polite due to her anxiety and using more familiar honorifics or forgoing them entirely would be "too rude" of her. -Her friends get the special honor of being called by their given names once the friendships develop more. -Not depicted in the chart but with Eijirou and Izuku's other classmates, she always calls them "senpai" even when using their Hero names (for example, she calls Izuku "Deku-senpai" when on Hero duty).
Ryouko -Refers to herself using "boku" primarily which is a masculine version of "I" but it's not entirely uncommon for "tomboys" to use it too. Also uses "atashi" if she wants to be seen as more feminine. -Tends to forgo honorifics with people she knows casually. -Her friends are known by a shortened version of their family names with "-kun" added to the end. -Starts calling Okami by his given name when they start dating.
Kyouhei -Uses "boku" as it's the softer of the two most common masculine "I"s in Japanese. -Calls most people "-kun" to be somewhat polite but still casual. As a celebrity, he does have an image to upkeep and thus he feels he can't be too casual (meaning dropping honorifics entirely). If asked, he will refer to someone with a different honorific. -Terumi is an exception. "Hikarin" is a nickname based on her Quirk; Terumi creates light with her Quirk, "hikari" is the Japanese word for "light," and the "n" at the end comes from the practice of adding it to names in order to make it sound cuter. "Teru-chan" is simply Terumi's name shortened with the "-chan" ender because that's what Japanese friends do. And Kyouhei starts calling Terumi by her given name when they start dating.
Terumi -Goes by "atashi." Feminine but not formal like "watashi." -In general, adds "-kun" to boys' names and "-chan" to girls' names. She shortens her friends' names and adds the appropriate honorifics. -Kyouhei's first nickname, Koe-hei, plays on his Quirk being based on his voice. "Koe" is the word for "voice." And then "koe" gets mashed with the latter half of Kyouhei's name. Kyou-chan is just his name shortened with "-chan" at the end. And his given name starts being used when Terumi and Kyouhei begin dating. -Her rivalry with Umeji is on the basis of both of them having pretty explosive Quirk with only somewhat good control. They're competing to see who has better control sooner.
Okami -"Ore" is the rougher of the masculine "I"s in Japanese, which is what Okami uses. -Goes without honorifics for everyone, even his friends. -Calls Ryouko by her given name when they start to date. -With Yuuki, he calls her by her given name with "-chan" added on her insistence. Also, he calls her both "nee-san" and "imouto" because neither of them actually know who was born first.
Fukue -Goes by "watashi," nice and polite. -Calls mostly everyone "-kun" to be polite but still casual. Changes it for someone who asks. -Sees Naoyo as a rival due to both of them being recommend students so calls her "-san" to show that formal respect.
Shouma -Refers to herself as "jibun" which is somewhat masculine but is still used by women too (Kyouka Jirou for example). -Largely forgoes honorifics except with friends, calling them by their given names with "-kun" added so it doesn't sound too familiar. -Maki is considered her rival as they both have Quirks that make them quite fast.
Jun -As a gentle and mild-mannered guy, he actually goes by "watashi" since it's gender neutral. -Adds "-kun" to most people's surnames, casual but not too much so. -Calls his friends by their given names (or a part of it) with "-kun" still added.
Umeji -Umeji is loud and bold but he's not really trying to come off as tough so he opts for "boku" over "ore." -Like Shouma, he only really uses honorifics with his friends, calling them by their given name (in whole or part).
Yuuki -Uses "atashi" for herself. Formerly used "atai" as taught to her by her mother because "atai" carries a "bad girl" connotation. -Calls his friends by their given names with "-chan" added to be familiar and cutesy. -With Okami, uses his given name with "-chan." She insists on it so they both seem more approachable. Calls him both "nii-san" and "otouto" because they don't know who the older twin is.
Gentsuno -Does try to come off tough so he uses "ore." -Usually just forgoes honorifics unless asked otherwise. -Adds "-chan" to the surnames of the friends, mainly because his closest friends are girls who let him call them as such.
Naoyo -Goes by "atashi." -Doesn't use honorifics with most people. -Chizuru is one exception because she wants to be called something different. -Calls Fukue "-san" to show respect to her rival.
Chizuru -For as casual as she can be, she uses "watashi." -Asks that everyone else call her "Chi-chan." -Refers to everyone by their given names, adding "-kun" to the boys' names and "-chan" to the girls' names. -Shortens Naoyo's name as friends and later girlfriends.
Ayuto -Despite not being a tough guy and actually being pretty ordinary, he uses the stronger, masculine "I" of "ore." -Doesn't use honorifics unless asked.
Daiki -He uses "ora" which is similar to "ore" but shows his rural background. -Calls most people by their surnames. -Calls his friends (which is just Ayuto) by their given name.
Tansai -Calls himself "jibun" since it's a gentler male "I" and comes off as detached. -Doesn't refer to anyone by surname or given names. He has insulting nicknames for them instead. -Ryouko's nickname for "wooden sword" actually has two words in Japanese, "bokuto" and "bokken." -Haruka doesn't actually get a nickname and is only called versions of "you" or "she" that are considered rude.

Haruka: [Careful. I gave this stir fry a bit of kick.]
Eijirou: How much kick? Like a baby in the belly kick or a professional MMA fighter kick?
Katsuki: (takes a bite) I’d say it’s the kick of a horse that’ll get you hospitalized.
Eijirou: Challenge accepted.
Bakusquad and Haruka’s friend group: Oh he’s dead…

What anime or media would your OCs enjoy? You can choose which OCs! *Vanishes* 🏃‍♀️
Oooh. This was a tough question to answer, Steph! Thank you~!
Let's take a look at the answers I have.
..........
Terumi Hoshimiya
Terumi is a performer, best known for her singing, and would thus be into lots of kinds of music so she can have the broadest horizons possible.
Her preference is lighthearted songs about romance or finding the beauty in the world.
But she also digs fast-paced, heavy on bass songs that get one explosively energized.
Really likes fantasy elements in visual media, the magic and unrealistic creatures really inspire her.
Would, somewhat unfortunately, be a fan of musicals that happen to belong to a certain company represented by a certain mouse. (Sell out./j)
Kyouhei Kotone
Kyouhei really loves musicals. He loves that environment of being able to sing and dance out your emotions.
He likes grand, heroic characters that he can get lost in, imagining himself taking those roles.
Hie favorite musical (which is completely made up) is titled "Chasing Across Stars." The musical tells the tale of reincarnating lovers with the current reincarnations re-enacting incidents from several of their lifetimes. His favorite song from the musical "So Long As" centers on the lovers remembering their past lives which excites them because it means they're destined for each other but also worries them that they might only be falling in love because of the past memories.
For other media, though he puts on a family-friendly persona, his personal music preferences would probably lean towards someone like Kenshi Yonezu. Music that explores self-hatred, misery, and loss but also love and hope, though in sadder shades.
Ryouko Hyoudou
I'd like to say that Ryouko would read/watch "Welcome to the Ballroom" because Ryouko dances ballroom, but I don't think she'd be that into the series as she wouldn't want to just let the creative liberties slide past her. She might still see the whole thing through to try and grasp her own feelings about ballroom dancing.
She's mostly into media with lots of action. Martial arts flicks and battle shounen types.
Media that feature swordsmanship like "Demon Slayer" or "Rurouni Kenshin" would pique her interest in specific.
Haruka Ayume
Haruka's favorite kind of media would be small stakes, personal stories like "A Silent Voice."
She also likes media about creating art. Could be a series like "Blue Period" which explores feelings of frustration and the struggle to find oneself in art.
She thinks that if she reads about characters who overcome their personal problems, maybe she can too.
Her musical preferences lean towards songs that focus on expressing emotions over telling a narrative within 3-5 minutes of music.
Shizuka Hisasue
Thanks to the influence of Takayuki, Shizuka becomes interested in the modern literature of her time.
Writers such as Sōseki and Akutagawa would become her favorites. They're famous but also talented writers.
Shizuka likes Akutagawa's ability to take traditional, Japanese folk tales and modern, Western cultural shifts and use both in his writing.
Shizuka's favorite work of Sōseki's is "Ten Night of Dreams," specifically the first dream as it shows the beauty of devotion.

Choice
A/N: This is just a little experiment for myself, trying to write actual prose in Japanese. I know my followers are largely English-speaking so no one will really be able to read this. But I wanted to try my hand at writing in Japanese. It's not as long as other fics I've written and it's not even the most I've written in Japanese in one go. If anyone wants to try and make sense of it, be my guest and let me know what you think of the conversation.
Summary: When faced with the notion that the people around her are her "family of choice," Haruka turns it down.
..........

Ryouko: Guys, I found a link labeled "NSFW." Do you have any idea what that means?
Okami: National Society of Feral Warriors.
Terumi: Nylon Sheets Feel Weird?
Kyouhei: Never Sing For Worship.
Haruka: [Nori (dried seaweed). Shouyu (soy sauce). Fuki (edible plant). Wasabi.]
Ryouko: ... For whatever reason none of those sound right.
Haruka: [How about you look it up?]
Ryouko: Oh right. *types into phone* "Not Safe For Work"?
Kyouhei: As in OSHA violations?
Okami: Since when were you familiar with the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration?
Terumi: Wait, how do you recognize the acronym "OSHA"?
Haruka: [And why did you say the full name?]
Ryouko: Ugh. This is a waste of time. Let's just see. *clicks link*
Haruka, Ryouko, Kyouhei, Terumi, and Okami: *horrified screams*

Whumptober Prompt 7: Secrets
Character: Kyouhei Kotone
Word count: ~800
Content warning: anxiety, mention of depression
..........
Kyouhei flopped forward on his desk and groaned. In his periphery, he saw Terumi bounce up to his desk then crouch down so they were eye-to-eye.
“Someone’s looking tired,” she commented in her bell-like voice. “Breakfast not wake you?” Terumi poked Kyouhei’s shoulder. “Hey, Kyou-chan, you’re not working yourself too hard, are you?”
Yes, I am. I’m having trouble balancing my studying. Kyouhei raised his head, just enough so it wasn’t hidden in his arms. My body is sore from training. He smiled at Terumi. I’ve been overusing my voice. “Thank you for worrying, Teru-chan.” Having to wrangle in this class is so hard, even with Shikkou taking charge. “But I’m doing just fine.”
Terumi’s grin widened, her pearly whites showing. “Well if you ever need a recharge, just let me know!”
Kyouhei kept smiling. It made his face hurt. Silently, he nodded to Terumi. He had to save his voice for more important things.
“Oookay!” Terumi jumped up to her feet and winked at Kyouhei. “Let’s do our best!” She practically skipped back to her own desk. Despite himself, Kyouhei sighed at the sight of her energy.
It’s better this way. Kyouhei stretched himself out and took on the role of the perfect student. I can’t let anyone down. Especially not Teru-chan.
…..
Later in the school day, Hero training was focused on combat. Kyouhei got paired with Okami by Aizawa.
Kyouhei shuffled backwards to avoid a punch aimed at his gut, almost tripping when his feet collided. He watched the ground while rebalancing himself. He looked up just in time to block a kick to the head with his forearm.
“Ack!” Kyouhei winced and grabbed the part of his arm that was struck. It wouldn’t help, in fact, the clutching made the pain a little worse.
“You okay, man?” Okami asked, his shoulders drawn up and brows knit together. “You’re usually better on your feet. Do you need me to…?”
It wasn’t that Kyouhei was weak. But his eyes had trouble focusing. And his limbs lagged when he moved.
“Nah, you’re just much better with physical strength than me,” Kyouhei assured, giving a nod of his head. “You going easy on me would be unfair. Give me a challenge okay?”
Okami raised a brow. “That’s not really… Oh never mind.”
That day, Kyouhei didn’t manage to land a single hit on Okami. After changing out of the gym uniform, he snuck away from the class to walk, or rather limp, to the nurse’s office.
It didn’t hurt. It’s just that bruises weren’t attractive.
…..
The glare of the screen was beginning to hurt. Still, Kyouhei couldn’t look away.
It was endless. The number of comments on the thread.
[Missing Kyouhei hours…]
[Why’d he have to quit]
[I’m wondering why he went to U.A. Like? Huh?!]
[NOOOOOO!!!!! I DON’T WANT HIM TO DIE!!!!]
[Come baaaaaaaack!]
[Still pisses me off. Him fighting? Seriously?]
[Probably just a publicity stunt. Like “haha gonna be a Hero now lol nope.”]
[I never thought he’d be an attention whore.]
[He’s a singer they all become whores eventually.]
[lmao]
[He’s an actor too. Doubly true]
And it kept devolving from there. Some people defended him but others still complained.
Kotone-san? You’re looking pale. It was a familiar voice in his mind rather than his ears.
Kyouhei hastily locked his phone and shoved it in his pocket before turning to face Haruka.
“Must’ve been the light from the screen. You know I like it bright.”
Haruka frowned. Her eyes looked watery, not simply from their color. If there’s something you need to talk about—
“Ayume-kun, it’s okay,” Kyouhei insisted with a smile. “You shouldn’t worry over something you don’t need to. I have it under control.” Please. You have enough of your own burdens.
Haruka fiddled with her fingers. Her expression tensed. I don’t know what but whatever it is, I do hope you’re taking care of yourself. She bowed her head. I’ll see you back at the dorms. With that, she walked away.
Kyouhei groaned and rubbed his temples. Of course Haruka would be one to pick up on it. He was sure she’d understand. But he was also sure that her too big heart might crumble under the weight of his troubles if he shared them.
…..
Kyouhei clicked between the same tabs over and over.
[Symptoms of depression].
[Antidepressants without prescription?]
[Therapists near me].
[Bad to self-diagnose?]
He stared at them for a bit longer before deleting every tab. Then, he erased his search history.
Everything was okay. He just needed sleep. He would eat better. He’d study and train harder. It’d get better if he really pushed himself.
As long as he never told anyone, no one would worry. And if no one worried, it would go away sooner. And if it went away sooner, it would be like it never even happened.
It would stay Kyouhei’s secret. His alone.

Terumi: That was deep.
Kyouhei: Philosophy is wondering if that means ketchup is a smoothie.
Okami: That was deeper.
Ryouko: Common sense is knowing that ketchup isn't a damn smoothie, you nasty!

A scene where Kyouhei is about to test a possible new feature for his Hero suit.
“I’m starting to have doubts about this,” Ayuto murmured as he peeked over the edge of the dormitory roof. He looked back to Shouma and Kyouhei.
Shouma was in the middle of adjusting the harness on Kyouhei’s prototype glider suit. Kyouhei, meanwhile, spread his arms to check the flexibility of the wings.
“Are you sure this will work?”
“In theory, yes,” Kyouhei replied nonchalantly.
“Can we change that ‘theory’ to a certainty?” asked Ayuto, his voice falling flat.
“That’s what I’m hoping for after these test runs.” Kyouhei tugged at the wings, assuring that they were neither too tight nor too loose.
“Okay Songbird, I think everything is set,” Shouma said calmly. She grabbed a helmet off that was sitting off to the side and handed it off to Kyouhei. “Strap this on. And then let’s fly.”
Ayuto groaned, “Aren’t you at all worried that this won’t work?” He almost sounded accusing toward Kyouhei. “What if your Quirk just isn’t strong enough to pull this off? What if your calculations don’t pan out and your theory is a bust?”
Kyouhei looked at Ayuto and chuckled nervously.
“Yeah, I’m actually very scared right now. Your questions aren’t helping.” Kyouhei sneered. “Quit it.” He paused to put on his helmet. “Besides, Dokuga-kun, Shikkou-kun, and Ayume-kun double-checked my calculations. So hopefully my theory is right. If not...” He pointed to Shouma and Ayuto. “Don’t let me die.”

Fair the greek love word ask game- mania for whichever characters you want?
It's been a while since I've answered anything so I'm gonna treat myself a little and answer this question for a few characters: my main trio for MHA (Haruka, Ryouko, and Kyouhei).
..........
Mania - What/who does your character love a little too much? Why?
—Kyouhei is a little too in love with the idea of public image, his own most of all. He wants to come off as a positive guy for his fans from his theater days and any fans he picks up as a Pro-hero. There's a part of him that requires him to be seen in the best light possible, even if it isn't the entire truth. As for why, it's a side effect of his upbringing in the theater and as the son of celebrities. He had to put on a good face, act the right part. His parents wouldn't punish him severely but he had subconsciously learned the need to maintain a mask. Thus, Kyouhei has become overly attached to the good, flawless image he procured growing up and struggles to keep it up. He worries that his true, snarky personality wouldn't be received as well by the populace. His persona would eventually break and even if his fans don't like it, his friends and family think he's just as good, if not better, when he's coldly roasting his opponents while warmly comforting those he rescues.
—Ryouko thinks too highly of her friends. She loves them and has trouble seeing their flaws. It's really a problem with Haruka and Okami because she defends them too much and kind of... admittedly doesn't encourage change in them. It's the worst with Haruka and Okami because they've got serious baggage they should be working through. The "why" is hard to explain. Perhaps it's a subconscious reaction to her fight with Yousuke. She doesn't want to lose friends again and thus she refuses to see their flaws which might drive them away. It's her trying to be a good friend but doing it in a misguided way. She has to learn that it's okay to critique one's friends, as long as it's constructive. Actually, you're supposed to correct your friend if they make a mistake.
—Haruka loves her father, Hayate Aonami, a little too much for her own good. The reason is that, for the most part, he was the only good person in her life for the longest time. Haruka's elder siblings, Takumi and Kazato, are much older and out of the house by the time she was born so she didn't know them well. Haruka's mother, Kiyono, was... not that good of a mother. Haruka's shyness and anxiety also prevented her from trying to make friends with others so she clung to Hayate a lot. It was also partially on Hayate for not encouraging her to be more social. It's why his death shook her up so much, because she had essentially lost her world. In the present, Haruka doesn't take kindly to criticism of her father. She knows he wasn't perfect but it hurts to hear bad things about her father. He was her father, hero, and inspiration. All she wants is to remember her father in the best light, to have some part of her life not tainted by negativity. She would learn that his flaws make his goodness even better. Though he made mistakes, he always tried his best for the sake of others and Haruka most of all.

Haruka: [Is it normal to practice a conversation I'll have with a person using an illusory version of them?]
Kyouhei: I used to practice dialogue and blocking for stage productions all the time so it doesn't sound that strange to me.
Haruka: [Kotone-san. Slight problem. No one else has the script.]
Kyouhei: ... Oh right.

Kyouhei Has it Rough
Summary: Kyouhei and his big mouth isn't always a good thing.
Genre: Humor
Word count: 1097
...........
Shouta came into the classroom looking sterner than usual.
“Alright class, let's get settled down.” Shouta stood at the front of the room while the students fell silent. “I went over the results from yesterday's battle trials. Tohou and Moukin, I hope your recklessness won't become a habit.” He then paused and glared at the whole class. “Futashi, be more mindful of Ayume's condition. After what happened yesterday, I expect everyone to take Ayume's condition seriously.”
“Yes sir.”
Haruka felt a glare on her back and wilted in her seat.
“Now, it's time for something that will have a large impact on your future.”
Every student froze. Would they be taking another test? And so soon? Would they be meeting some high ranking heroes? Just how serious would this be?
“You need a class representative.”
“YEEEEEAAAAAAH!” Most of the class was cheering.
“Pickmepickmepickme!” Umeji blurted out as he frantically waved his arms.
“I'll do it!” Ayuto offered. “I'd make a great class rep!”
“I believe I would suit the role the best,” Naoyo stated while calmly raising her hand.
Haruka sank into her seat and covered her ears. It was far too loud for her. She was becoming overwhelmed by all the noise. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Fukue approach Kyouhei. She whispered something to Kyouhei which prompted him to nod and rise from his seat.
“HEEEEEEEEEEY!” Kyouhei screamed in Present Mic's booming voice. Once his scream died down, silence filled the room once more. “Shikkou-kun, you had something to say?”
“Let's have a democratic vote,” was her blunt statement. “Whoever gets the most votes is class representative and the deputy will be whoever comes in second.”
“Won't we all just vote for ourselves?” Daiki asked, tilting his head in confusion.
“I agree,” Shouma added, “Even if we're living in dorms, we barely know each other.”
“I disagree,” Fukue said with a shake of her head, “because I know for a fact that some of us aren't the type to vote for ourselves.”
“I guess that's true,” Terumi muttered. “Let's vote!”
A few minutes later, the votes were in. Fukue ended up with the most votes at four while Kyouhei ended up with three. The only ones without votes were Haruka, Ryouko, the Moriharas, and Jun.
“I will strive to be a responsible class representative,” Fukue stated as she stood at the front of the class. “I trust you'll do your best to back me up, Kotone-kun?”
“I honestly didn't expect this to happen,” Kyouhei laughed while his whole body was shaking from sheer anxiety. “But I can't say I'm unhappy with it.”
“You look like you're about to faint.” Fukue looked Kyouhei over and frowned with concern. “I think you should sit down now.”
“Yeah, I agree,” he replied. Kyouhei moved to take a step towards his desk but instead fell on his face, much to the class's shock. “Don't worry, just locked my knees!”
.....
“Don't feel bad about falling over in front of the class, Kyouhei,” Terumi giggled while she and Kyouhei were waiting in the lunch line. “I mean, you got three votes in your favor. That's something right?”
“I feel like you would've made a better deputy than me,” Kyouhei grumbled in reply, his head hanging low. “You wouldn't have locked up like that.”
“It's funny since you're usually a natural on stage,” noted Terumi, twirling a lock of hair to keep in hand busy. “I mean, ever since we were little, you were an incredible actor. You love the stage and the stage loves you!” Terumi pat Kyouhei on the shoulder and gave him a bright grin. “I'm sure this whole class vice president thing won't be any different.”
“But Teru-chan, it's super different!” argued Kyouhei as he waved both arms in the air. “I'm an actor, not a leader! I'm only good on stage because in those times I'm not Kyouhei Kotone, I'm someone else!”
“Kyou-chan, that's not entirely true. You are more than just the roles you play.” Terumi leaned against Kyouhei and smiled thoughtfully. “You are Kyouhei Kotone, my best friend and future Pro-Hero.”
Heat rose to Kyouhei's face and he looked at Terumi with a nostalgic fondness.
“Let's forget the whole vice president thing for the time being!” Terumi chirped as they came to the front of the line and got their lunches. “Anything interesting happen to you today? Aside from the obvious.” Kyouhei tried to glare at Terumi only to break after a couple of seconds into snorting hysterics.
“Not really?” Kyouhei grumbled as the pair wandered the cafeteria for seats. “You?”
“Me? Oh please, like anything would happen to little old me!” Terumi squeaked, anxiously tapping her fingers along the bottom of her lunch tray. A fair shade of pink colored her cheeks and she wasn't making eye contact.
“Teru-chan, I was there,” Kyouhei droned, giving her an unamused look. “Those letters in your shoe locker… They were love confessions weren't they?”
“We've been at school for barely three days! Technically four if we count the day of the entrance ceremony… But three days! I don't know how it happened!”
Kyouhei and Terumi found a table with unoccupied chairs and slid into them.
“Let's see… Long, pretty hair without any knots… Deep blue eyes that sparkle like starlight…” Kyouhei started to list off, counting a finger with each item he listed off. Terumi, in the meantime, wiped her hands then showed thanks for her meal. “Perfect complexion… Well proportioned body—” Terumi tossed her used towelette at him but smiled teasingly at the same time. “Moving on! Plucky and cheerful attitude… Dazzling, hundred million yen smile… Cute, tanuki face…” He paused and glanced at Terumi and smirked knowingly. “Though right now, you look more like an octopus.”
“Kyou-chan! So mean!” Terumi squealed.
“But yeah, I can't imagine why anyone would consider confessing to you.”
Kyouhei and Terumi both rolled their eyes, laughing hysterically.
“Oh man…” Terumi giggled and wiped her tears away. “I can't even take the letters seriously. Third day at U.A. and romance is coming for me like a bullet train.” She shook her head and sighed. “My love life is a complete mess.”
“Well wha'dya know! I'm a complete mess. Can I be your love life?” Kyouhei blurted out with a shining grin on his face.
Silence fell over the pair for a moment and Kyouhei suddenly had a look of horrified realization, as if he hadn't meant to say what he did.
“Kyou-chan, do you—?” Terumi began before she was cut off by Kyouhei scrambling off. “Ah, Kyou-chan! Wait!”

Conversation
Chizuru: You and Okami-kun are getting along so well! I'm surprised you're not dating already!
Ryouko: I keep telling you, I don't like him that way! Get that through your thick skull!
.....
Chizuru: I think it's so sweet how much you love Terumi-chan! When's the confession?
Kyouhei: H-huh? What? No! No no no no no! Teru-chan's amazing and brilliant and all but I think we're better off as friends!
.....
Chizuru: You and Kyouhei-kun are totally gonna get together, right?
Terumi: Hm, I dunno... I do adore him with my whole heart but I worry about ruining our friendship.
.....
Chizuru: Think you're ever going to confess to Ryouko-chan?
Okami: No. I'm going to bottle up these feelings, suffer through the heartache, and then die alone like this godless world intended.
.....
Chizuru: I can't take it! There must be something wrong with them! How can they be so in love and yet in such denial?
Naoyo: Not everyone is as open to romance as you are.
Chizuru: But isn't it really weird that they're all in the same friend group? It's like an alliance for denying romantic feelings! And they're all into each other to boot!

7, 13, 22 for any of your OCs! This is from the OC - best friend!! 👀
Any? Any any?
Well then if it’s alright by you, then the best friends I’ll be answering for will be Terumi Hoshimiya and Kyouhei Kotone! They’re two of my MHA OCs that I haven’t posted about yet but I’ll give a little sneak peek by answering these questions!
7) What made them bond so close? For one, Kyouhei and Terumi’s parents are all friends so it was somewhat inevitable that they became friends as well. They’re both also performing arts nerds. As kids, they sang through their favorite musicals together, trying to mimic the choreography from recorded shows. Singing, dancing, and acting are their jams. Having fun together that way led them to talking more about themselves and thus their friendship blossomed.
13) Do they have any inside jokes? If so, what? I’m not sure if this would count as an inside joke, but they do occasionally compare their actions to characters in plays/musicals. For example, when Kyouhei proclaimed that he was going to become a top ranking Hero, Terumi said he was like Simba (though Kyouhei is aiming to be a Hero, not king). The two of them also do the song lyric text prank with their classmates. The only people who they aren’t able to do it with are Okimoto, Yuuki, and Okami (the first never responds to anyone and the latter two don’t seem to have phones?).
22) How do they relate to one another? Kyou and Teru grew up together; they are each other’s closest friend and confidant. They honestly mean the world to each other and inspire one another every day. Kyouhei admires Terumi because she’s kind of a natural at everything she’s passionate about. She’s charismatic, gifted in performing arts, and has a strong Quirk with lots of potential. And she still works to turn her talents into true skill. To him, Terumi is a shining star that lights his way and gives him hope. Terumi admires Kyouhei’s work ethic. He wasn’t naturally charismatic (actually started out with a bit of stage fright) or talented (not that he was bad) so he made up for it with lots of training and hard work. For her, Kyouhei is like a song that she can never forget, always with her and speaking to her. Aside from how they view each other, the relate through music a lot. They frequently hum little tunes. They play music when studying or training. And when they need to vent, the usually do so through song.

Class 1-A and the Arts
Nothing big, just sharing thoughts I have about everyone in Haruka's class being into some kind of creative or performative art.
Haruka Ayume: Haruka draws. She primarily does traditional art with lead pencil and colored pencils on paper. She would later get a drawing tablet to do digital art.
Ryouko Hyoudou: Does ballroom dancing. She mostly does Standard style dances, with the tango and quickstep being her strongest. She's only dabbled in Latin styles.
Kyouhei Kotone: A triple threat in theater, as he is able to act, sing, and dance. Given his Quirk, he is best at singing, followed by acting, and then dancing.
Terumi Hoshimiya: Similar to Kyouhei, she's a triple threat. However, her best skill is dancing with her singing and acting abilities following in that order.
Okami Morihara: He learns ballroom dancing from Ryouko since he wanted to learn something "civilized." He becomes equally skilled in all styles of Standard dance.
Fukue Shikkou: She's good with needlework and embroidery. She decorates handkerchiefs with little designs in order to relax or whenever she has free time.
Okimoto Futashi: He's a bit of an actor since he's able to hide his aggressive and hateful personality from his teachers and classmates. Even when the true him slips through, he fixes himself quickly.
Shouma Moukin: While not really an art in a typical understanding, Shouma is good at speedrunning. She can also voice act a little since she likes voicing characters as she plays.
Jun Dokuga: He does soap art since it is both pretty and practical. He both carves soap into new shapes as well as uses molds and dyes to make fun soap creations.
Umeji Tohou: With his wild tastes, he's into tie dying. He has multiple outfits worth of clothing items that are tie dyed in the most garish colors imaginable.
Yuuki Morihara: She gets into knitting and crocheting after coming to U.A. She's never really had a hobby before so she gets really into it. She just thinks knitted things are cute!
Gentsuno Maki: Was once a sports star but that's not really a performing art. However, he's got great eye-hand coordination so he's excellent at juggling.
Naoyo Rikuka: Woodcarving is her art of choice. It's tough and hands on, somewhat like her. She once carved a wooden cutlery set to use when on camping trips.
Chizuru Chigami: Obviously she does origami. But she can also weave threads and perform ritual kaguras. She probably also knows how to play one traditional, Japanese instrument. I haven't decided which one yet.
Ayuto Yugawa: I see him doing pottery for whatever reason. I don't really know how to explain it. Maybe it's because pottery clay can be moved and shaped so fluidly while still being solid which loosely relates to his Quirk.
Daiki Takematsu: While most of his plant knowledge is farming based, he would probably know a thing or two about bonsai tending and flower arrangements.
