Alien Bobtail, Bobtail squid (Sepiola atlantica) under Paignton pier, Devon, England
‘Taking photos underwater at night, it is possible to see a range of species not always visible during the day. Bobtail squid are out hunting at night and their stunning neon colours catch my torch and strobe lights. They often patrol over sand patches hunting for prey such as tiny shrimp. In this case, there was a lot of sand suspended in the water, but rather than trying to remove the sand from the shot I felt it added to an otherworldly atmosphere’

'Christmas has come early in the UK charts as almost three quarters of songs in the top 40 are festive tunes.
Wham!'s Last Christmas has topped the singles chart for the fourth time, followed by Mariah Carey's All I Want For Christmas Is You in second place.
A week after the death of The Pogues singer Shane MacGowan, Fairytale of New York has risen to number four.
It still has time to reach the top spot for the first time, with two weeks until Christmas number one is revealed.
Released in 1987 and featuring Kirsty MacColl, the track originally peaked at number two, being narrowly beaten to festive first place by the Pet Shop Boys' Always On My Mind.
In total, there are eight festive songs in this week's top 10, including Brenda Lee's Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree at number six, and Ed Sheeran and Elton John's hit Merry Christmas at number seven.
Speaking to the Official Charts Company, Andrew Ridgeley, one half of Wham!, said it felt like "Christmas has indeed come early" and he was "delighted that Last Christmas has once again reached the zenith of the Official Singles Chart".
George Michael and Ridgeley's 1984 festive song broke a record in 2021 for the longest time taken to reach number one.
It reached the top spot for a second time in 2022, and for a third at the very beginning of 2023.
It has never been number one in Christmas week itself, however. But that could change this year after YouTubers and charity fundraisers LadBaby - who have had the Christmas number one for five years in a row - decided not to enter the 2023 race.
The 28 festive songs in the top 40 include Ariana Grande's Santa Tell Me at 11, Michael Bublé's Holly Jolly Christmas at 21 and Slade's Merry Xmas Everybody at number 39 on the 50th anniversary of its release...'

From the official website of screenwriter Mark David Perry. He was approached by New World Pictures to write a sequel to “Flowers In The Attic” (1987), based on “Petals On The Wind”, despite the fact that Corrine was killed off at the end of the 1987 film. At the time that the Lifetime movies were in production, Kristy Swanson confirmed that she and Louise Fletcher received copies of the script a few years after the release of the original movie. In a 2014 interview, Swanson stated, "I was sent a script of Petals on the Wind and it never took off ... I remember running into Louise Fletcher in Santa Barbara about four years ago. She asked me if I had gotten the Petals on the Wind script, which I had, and she wanted to know if I had read it. I told her I had and that they had called me about it. I was interested but then I didn't hear from them anymore. And apparently, the same thing happened with her. It's like they wanted to do it but they couldn't get it off the ground ... When I read the script, I wasn't too thrilled with it. I know Cathy goes through a lot in the next book, and the script was a real "sexfest." She gets pregnant and has so many affairs. There's her brother, Christopher, and then she has an affair with Julian, the dancer, and there's Paul, the doctor. I was actually kind of wondering if I should even do a sequel, you know? I just didn't know if it should be done."
I haven't been able to find an actual copy of the script, but allegedly it involves the grandmother re-marrying a much younger man, and Cathy seducing him, so as I've suspected, the movie sequel would have had Cathy seeking revenge against Olivia. The voice-over in the theatrical ending of the movie by the adult Cathy (performed by Clare C. Peck) states, "I sometimes wonder if  Grandmother is still alive. Still presiding over Foxworth Hall, still awaiting my return," which maybe does imply that they were setting up a sequel without Corrine. How well it would have worked, who knows, but the premise does sound interesting. Paul would have been included, unlike in the Lifetime version. It's sad that Louise Fletcher is no longer with us because I would have loved to have heard her thoughts on this, as well as her experience in making the 1987 movie.

An adorable bobtail squid that POTW Kirsty Andrews captured during a cold, murky, UK night dive. No matter where, there is always a cool critter to be seen!
