Yall know what stunningly OBVIOUS detail I finally noticed?
See the dots?
More obvious when you see the full boy and that's the KIRBY KRACKLE BITCH!!! THEMS KIRBY DOTS! And where did we see the most egregious use of the krackle in into the spiderverse?
THAT'S RIGHT THE SEQUENCE WHERE THE TEAM DESTROY THE COLLIDER AND CREATE THE SPOT!!!!!
LOOK AT THIS!!!!! GOD!! SONY SHOULD PAY THE VISUAL AND CHARACTER ARTISTS FOR THESE MOVIES 1 TRILLION DOLLARS MINIMUM

This is the Buddy for April 18th. Or, you know, three versions of it.
I've been trying a different way of drawing gradients. From left to right:
The first is done in three layers - one black, one dark grey, one a regular gradient.
The second, three layers, balck, dark gray and light gray.
The third, around four layers, each having Ben-Day dots with decreasing density.
I'm not too happy with any of them, so I'll probably try something different soon, but I wanted to post this study for today.
In other news, May 12th is approaching, which means the "one drawing every day" project is close to an end. I still have some stuff to finish, but I've got almost 366 drawings done, so, hooray?

As a fan of both Homer Simpson and Jack Kirby, I decided to make an Acrylic painting of his Super Hero alter ego Pie Man; In the Kirby's style in honor of the 106th anniversary of his birth August 28th 1917, I don't if I succeed but it was fun to paint.

This is the Buddy for March 7th. But it was drawn almost a year ago. I had this set up to be posted on early May, but I was having a bit of trouble setting up a Tumblr for myself so I only started posting on May 12th or so. I had this picture bouncing around my files for years before deciding to post it now cause I've been kind of too busy to draw.
The special thing about this Buddy is that he, the clothes and hair, were drawn using the Kirby dots personalized pen I created to help me draw smoke and so on. Those gradients in the background don't count, though.
I originally wanted to use the same technique I used for the Kirby dots to draw the gradients themselves, but they never look good.

Oh shit, I wouldn't be surprised if they were used before now, but these are Kirby Dots! Haha, awesome.
Such a simple use of negative space to add that spicy sci-fi element to backgrounds or powers.
