It’s really interesting reading The Hands of the Emperor after following someone from New Zealand for a couple of years who occasionally talks about cultural things there. I don’t pretend to have any understanding, just that I have a sense of things I don’t understand. I keep being tempted to stalk the author and figure out how she knows what she’s talking about.
