I just discovered the call of duty fandom and let me tell you I never read so much fanfic and hc in a week!!!

I will probably never play the game but I will still love those characters till my last breath. I am living for the cod cosplay community on TikTok and yes I was dragged there by the sheer power of our leader,✨💕Brittany Broski 💕✨

So here some fic/hc ideas I would love to read about but didn’t find🥲

• cod men going to the ren faire with reader who’s super excited and make the men dress up too (Simon dressed in a armor 🫠) ( the 141 that decided to go as a team with reader and they all play along and coordinate their outfits)

• gamer cod men that teach reader how to play and are super kind about it (bonus if in exchange reader tech them how to play cozy games like “animal crossing” or “a little to the left”

• cod men doing a date at the museum and reader is just a history nerd and basically do a guided tour and the men are just listening and be like: yup I am in love!

• cod men and reader drinking tea on the outside tables of a cafe and just gossiping about life and people that walked by (soap and reader with sunglasses just judging everyone like nobody could hear them and randomly dropping a “smash” every time someone hot pass them)

• (this one is especially for soap and it’s based on this TikTok https://vm.tiktok.com/ZGe9Taj72/ )

Just soap putting a kilt on at every single opportunity he gets because he loves it so much and reader had once said that they like it on him . So that’s how you get soap just rocking the kilt at almost every events they go together and of course, more than one time, there was a LOT of wind (Scotland is windy as fuck) and him being the idiot that he is and never learning from his mistakes, ended up butt naked in front of the whole wedding/party/baptism/family dinner/formal evening with the 141 … (he is a total idiot but I love him)

• cod men when reader put on the broski report every time they take the car and it’s just the both of them being super invested in what Brittany is saying. Bonus if it’s the first time reader put it on and of course it’s one of those episodes where she’s saying the most random shit and the proceeds to talk about religion and philosophy and they’re just there driving being like: “ I don’t know what this woman is saying but she did make some very good points” just becoming massives fan and buying matching sweatshirts with the broski report logo on it for them and reader. And yes, they start quoting her every day and it confuses everybody else!

Well, this was longer than I was expecting (that’s what she said) but for a first real post I’m pretty happy about it! Hope you enjoyed it and If by miracle someone found this post and want to use one of the prompts/hc feel free to use it! (Just tag me so I can see the results !)

20 Questions for Fic Writers

Thank to @ink-in-books for tagging me.

How many works do you have on AO3?

Technically, 3. Though, one is just the "smut" content of another fic. So, really, I just have the two.

2. What's your total A03 word count?

141,494 words.

3. What fandoms do you write for?

On this O3 account, just Clone Wars.

4. What are your top five fics by kudos?

M'dear, I only have two fics.

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

Yes, I do! Especially if they are engaging questions that ask about the world-building, the character study, or my plot.

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

It isn't ended, but it has the most angst in it, and it has also left-off in the angstiest way. But, it would be Aay'han: Mournful Celebration.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

From what the readers can tell? Aay'han: Mournful Celebration because it has a clear end; it is after Order 66, so the damage has been done, and now it is time to recuperate. Nightmare for Others, Dreams for the Self ends off pretty early in the war, meaning I haven't gone over with the readers what happens. However, when I can update Nightmare for Others, I know how it will continue. And, there's gonna be some angst, but other things that will make up for Anakin's poor little life.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Not yet. Though, I get a lot of comments asking me to write Cody-wan instead of, say, ObiRex.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I do. I just didn't get a chance to write any for Batakin.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

No, and I don't particularly care for it, either. There's some Universes that I'd love a crossover, but I'd be picky as hell. I'd love to write a TCW and Transformers crossover!!!

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

No, I ain't important enough. Either is my works.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

No.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Just like Inky, I sort of did? Batakin was the love-brain child of @spacingstars and I. We were supposed to work on it together, however, I got possessive, and they were also busy with work. It ended up easier for me to just write it myself. Mournful Celebration was an event gift, and I used some things from our private roleplay together. Does that make it a co-author?

14. What's your all-time favorite ship?

Again, I'm like Inky, that it depends on what my interest is. In TCW, Rexwalker has risen to the top of my OTP list, and that is entirely unexpected. I came in with a very different ship that I've mostly abandoned due to just... not vibing with its community. ObiRex is still so dear to my heart, and survives in a better state than say... other ships I'm still a registered with the manifest. But, Rexwalker rose to the top. It tickles all my required ish-es. I love the potential for intrigue, for defiance of the narrative, the "solution" to so many problems found in simple places, and boyish cuteness.

15. What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

A few that will never see the light of day because I lost interest. For the most part, I keep my WIPs down to a low. Once a WIP will no longer be finished, it isn't a WIP; it is a dropped project, and it is okay to drop them.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Long plots, contextual detail, world-building, dialogue, characterization...

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

There's some grammar things I'm weak as thinning cheap denim. I wouldn't call it a weakness, but I am not the author for anyone if they want concise, short stories.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

Painful. I'd rather not. I don't like it because I'm trying to figure out the best way to convey to the reader what it translates. Including Mando'a is hard enough as it is.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Uhhh... I think a tiny little anime fandom called The Slayers. None of it will be found ever again. It has been lost to all time.

20. Favorite fic you've ever written?

Star Wars: Come From Water, which is unpublished. I am still working on it!

Because I was bored yesterday, and @junojelli and @jamie506101 are terrible enablers - more Rev War AU, featuring some faces we know and the always wonderful Margaret Frances, whom you all can meet over at La Fille du Regiment. She is absolutely not this punchy in her own story, but anyone who can haggle with Hubert Planchet can probably go a few rounds with Lew Nixon.

Lewis Nixon lived to tease. A boy who’d just started shaving or a matron with a new hat - didn’t matter at all, as long as he could pass a comment on it. "Well, well, well, look who it is, boys. The petticoat artillery. And how is the lovely Miss Margaret Frances this morning?"

The young woman at the washtub looked up with a tolerant smile, wiping her hands on her apron and stepping away from her work to rummage in a pile of freshly laundered clothes for the tag bearing his name. "All that more terrible for seeing you, Lieutenant. I've made sure to wash your smalls with poison ivy."

"You're a treasure," Lewis said with a grin, accepting the package and counting coins into her hand. It was well known around camp that Lieutenant Nixon was a charmer, but Margaret Frances, whose father was a sergeant in Hamilton's artillery company, knew a dedicated flirt when she saw one and wasn't afraid to call him out on it. This was the game they played, this...repartee, both knowing nothing would come of it unless Nixon really did want to kiss the gunner's daughter at Sunday parade. "What's the news from headquarters?"

"Bold of you to think anyone talks to a laundrymaid," Margaret said flatly, counting the change a second time before tucking it into her pocket.

"And here was me hearing you'd a special understanding with a certain redheaded Frenchman on the staff."

"Don't know who'd be telling you that," she said promptly, turning back to her piles, searching for another tag. "Especially when everyone knows the only redhead I'll tolerate is Captain Winters," she added with a smile, bringing out Richard's laundry. "Isn't that right, Joan?"

"Only tolerable man in the whole company," her friend Joan said with a smile, joining Margaret at the edge of the path, skirts kilted and bodice open in the summer heat, the lacing of her stays out, bold as brass. "Heathens, the whole lot of those Pennsylvania boys. Captain," she said with a slight nod, a slim smile that, for whatever reason, the sight of her ankles or the knot of her stays, brought a faint blush to Richard's cheeks.

"Miss Warren." He tapped his heels and bowed a little. They were no shrinking violets, these women, strong and capable, between the laundry that kept them in coin and the gunnery practice that came to them through fathers and brothers and husbands. What was a woman to do, if she was on the field with the watering party and a man fell, either to the heatstroke or a bullet? Naught for it but to take his place. He’d seen one or another brain an advancing solder with a ramrod, when a position was almost overtaken, and go right back to the business of sponging out. Camp followers they might be, but they were not to be trifled with, for any reason under heaven.

"Hark at him! You might learn some manners from him, Lewis Nixon," Maggie put in with a grin.

"Who do you think it was taught him?" Nixon shot back. “We’re working on his dancing next, d’you fancy being in on it?” “You don’t dance, Captain Winters?” Joan asked with a surprised little smile.

“Very little call for it, in Lancaster,” he said, quietly.

“And here was us thinking you had all the girls after you and your fine legs,” Maggie joked, for the pure pleasure of watching the redhead blush again.

“Now, Maggie, don’t tease,” Lewis said, though he looked to be having just as much fun watching Dick blush as Margaret was.

“Well, a girl can’t help it if she’s up early of a morning and a gentleman’s taking a swim in the Schuylkill mother-naked,” Margaret flashed back. “Liable to go back and tell the whole camp what she’s seen. Isn’t that so, Joan?”

The days are getting longer, the temperature is heating up, and summer is here. With Voldemort now gone, it seems the Wizarding world can finally embrace summer for the first time in years, and all the joys that come along with it. In celebration of the newfound freedom, the Council has decided to truly celebrate the start of the Professional Quidditch season with a week-long festival, culminating in the first game of the season, The Montrose Magpies vs The Falmouth Falcons.

The opening game will be held at the Falmouth Quidditch Stadium, beginning on the 27TH OF JUNE, but the fun doesn’t start there! Beginning the preceding weekend, the first annual Quidditch Festival will take over the stadium and town. With games of chance and skill, to stalls filled with not only Quidditch memorabilia, but arts and crafts too, there’s something for the whole family!

Important Information:

This event will run for four weeks, from 20 JUNE at NOON EST- 13 JULY at NOON EST after which no new starters should be posted. However, any threads created during the event can, of course, continue

There will be themed sentence starters posted at the start of the event

It’s a new year, but here at Mandatory Fun Day, the game is still the same! Every Sunday, we post a new prompt, and you have until the following Saturday to create and share your Winterhawk inspired fic, art, moodboards, playlists, meta analysis, interpretive dance, etc. This is open to absolutely everyone, and all we ask is that you tag us in your completed works and crosspost them to our AO3 collection if possible.

In 2019, you created over 200 fanworks across 42 prompts! Now, we’d like to kick off the new year by looking backwards. This week, we challenge you to fill an old prompt from last year. You can access all of the past challenges by reviewing posts tagged as “prompt.” Create for one prompt, or combine a few into one work!

Do you have a half-baked idea for Take Your Winterhawk To Work that you never finished cooking? Are you not done processing all your emotions about Crymaxing Clint? Mass Combat in Costume Fairy Adventures, Part 1: Units

Heck with it -- we’re doing this.

(Note: this should not be considered “official” CFA material -- insofar as anything in CFA is official -- even though I’m the game’s author. This is just me noodling around. None of this material has been playtested, and I make no guarantees that it won’t ruin reputations or friendships. Use at your own risk!)

Part 1: Units

The basic unit of mass combat in Costume Fairy Adventures is, well, the unit. In game terms, a unit is just an NPC with a special trait: a Scale Bonus. The Scale Bonus is determined by the number of characters the unit contains, like so:

1: A few characters 2: A few tens of characters 3: A few hundred characters 4: A few thousand characters 5: A legion ten thousand strong

On a unit’s character sheet, it looks like this:

Scale Bonus X: [name of NPC] inflicts +X Stress in a scuffle and suffers -X Stress from physical threats.

These modifiers are equivalent to and stack with the modifiers that combat-capable Big Folks receive by virtue of their size. (Costume Fairy Adventures Core Rulebook, p. 153) For example, a unit of half a dozen Ogres would have a total bonus of 4 -- three from their native bigness, and one more for the unit’s Scale.

(A unit’s Scale Bonus is considered to be a kind of NPC Power, if the question ever comes up.)

Costume Powers that interact with Big Folks’ Stress modifiers interact with the Scale Bonus in the same way. The Battle Kilt’s “Caber Toss” Power, for example, allows a fairy to completely ignore such modifiers, so she can tussle with units on equal footing -- regardless of their Scale!

By default, a unit has the same Facets, Quirks, Stress Limit and Powers as the characters that make it up. This might not be the case if the unit is comprised of a mix of different types of characters, or if it has its own identity distinct from any of its members. This does mean that units by themselves are rather fragile -- but see below.

Leading Units

A unit can be led by a fairy or named NPC, assuming she can convince the unit’s members to listen to her. When leading a unit, the unit acts using the fairy’s Facets and Quirks rather than its own; her leadership style takes precedence over the unit’s natural inclinations. She can, however, tag one of the unit’s applicable Quirks on her rolls, and her actions benefit from the unit’s Scale Bonus and other Powers (if any).

When a fairy loses a contest while leading a unit, she can choose whether to assign the resulting Stress to herself or her unit. The Stress can’t be divided up -- it’s an all-or-nothing proposition! Apply the Stress reduction from the unit’s Scale Bonus before deciding who gets the Stress. (i.e., the leader benefits from her unit’s Scale Bonus even if she assigns the Stress to herself.)

A leader’s ability to tag her unit’s Quirks and choose where to assign Stress is considered to be a specific application of the Ganging Up rules (Costume Fairy Adventures Core Rulebook, p. 84), so any Power or effect that messes with your ability to Gang Up or otherwise receive Assistance also messes with your ability to lead a unit.

Should multiple fairies want to join a single unit, just roll them all together using the Ganging Up rules: the unit still only gets one action, taken by its leader, while the other fairies contribute Assistance dice and use their own Powers to benefit the unit’s actions, if possible. If there’s a disagreement about which fairy is leading the unit, resolve it in the usual fashion.

Units and Stress

Units suffer Stress in the same way as NPCs. (Costume Fairy Adventures Core Rulebook, p. 151) A Unit whose Stress exceeds its Stress Limit doesn’t vanish, but it immediately becomes ineffective, scattering fleeing (and likewise Stressed Out) NPCs all over the landscape. Units that are Stressed Out do not return to play unless rallied (see below); once a unit’s morale is broken, it’s down for the count!

Units that have suffered Stress but aren’t yet Stressed Out have a fairy-like ability to remove Stress by eating food. (Costume Fairy Adventures Core Rulebook, p. 88) There are no particular special rules for this, but there has to be enough food to feed the whole unit, not just one of its members; arranging this much food on short notice is left as an exercise for creative players. Other effects that remove Stress generally don’t work on units -- they’re just too big.

(If you’re in a situation where it matters, an NPC who splits off from a unit has the same amount of Stress marked as the unit did when she left it. If the unit’s Stress Limit is higher than that of its members, this can result in an NPC leaving her unit and immediately Stressing Out. Moral support matters!)

Rallying A Unit

A fairy who’s in the general vicinity of a Stressed Out unit can try and bring it back into play under her command by rallying it. This requires both a rousing speech or other inspiring demonstration and a successful roll, usually against Moxie or Focus. This roll is a simple test unless multiple characters are vying for leadership of the rallied unit, in which case they roll a contest against each other; the unit itself does not participate.

A successfully rallied unit returns to play with its Stress zeroed out, but reduces its Scale Bonus by one point to reflect losses and desertion. Lost points of Scale Bonus can only be restored using Wishful Thinking. (Costume Fairy Adventures Core Rulebook, p. 112) You can do this at the same time as rallying a unit, or later on. If you’re rallying a unit and bolstering it to prevent loss of Scale Bonus at the same time, you don’t need to roll twice -- just spend the Magic and go for it.

Successful Wishful Thinking usually restores or prevents the loss of one point of Scale Bonus. At the GM’s option, an especially creative or entertaining effort made under favourable conditions might restore two or more points. Yes, if your improv game is hot, it’s entirely possible to rally a Stressed Out unit and end up with a bigger Scale Bonus than you started with! The bolstered unit’s Quirks or other traits may also change, depending on what exactly you described.

(If you’re wearing a Costume that gives you a discount to Wishful Thinking when summoning NPCs or creating Hazards, that discount also applies when bolstering an appropriate unit. For example, if you’re leading a mob of adorable woodland creatures while wearing the Spirit of Spring Dress, bolstering your unit costs 1 less Magic for you.)

For units under the GM’s control, returning a Stressed Out unit to play is a Summon Opposition action (Costume Fairy Adventures Core Rulebook, p. 170), and costs the usual 3 Trouble. Units rallied in this way may or may not lose a point of Scale Bonus, at the GM’s discretion.

Recruiting New Units

For a fairy, recruiting a new unit from scratch always requires Wishful Thinking -- it’s hard to get people to take you seriously when you’re a foot tall! As with bolstering a Stressed Out unit (see above), successful Wishful Thinking will usually result in a unit with a Scale Bonus of 1, unless you have a good explanation or a good speech.

All-Fairy Units

As a rule, fairies -- particularly player character fairies! -- don’t coordinate well enough to count as a unit by themselves. If the situation ever comes up, and there are at least three PCs present, roll them together using the Ganging Up rules and give them a Scale Bonus of 1.

And that’s the first draft of part one! CFA’s basic conflict rules should be more than sufficient to handle simple unit-versus-unit thumping matches, but in part two we’ll look at some options for handling pitched battles -- military and otherwise -- with multiple units getting in trouble all over the map.
