The cliches of the 60's keep mentioning their musicians' countercultural acumen or so the story goes. However, how can we understand Tom Jones' success then? Before you protest, I agree he has many qualities, yet he doesn't fit the prevailing narrative of the 60's despite being one of the biggest popstars at the time. He felt like a member of the old guard in the vein of Sinatra. Strangely enough, the latter actually told him to ditch the rock stuff, while Elvis, another model of his, advised him to stay there. Yes, Tom Jones is one of those peculiar types that belonged to a different era than the one they were in. Still, this might have given him a surprising longevity that found him working with everyone – from Trevor Horn to Chicane.

"What do you mean 'I'm in charge of Tweek'?"
Craig sighed, rubbing the bridge of his nose as though he weren’t the one dropping his boyfriend on me for the weekend without asking me beforehand. I’m not sure why he gets to be the annoyed one in this situation. I’m the one who thought they were being invited to a coffee hang with their friend only for it to turn into a job request.
“I mean, I need you to watch him this weekend.”
“Isn’t that literally your job?”
“Yes, but my family’s annual camping trip is this weekend and it’s strictly family. So you need to hang out with Tweek until I get back.”
“Why do I need to watch over a literal adult?” I asked, crossing my arms and leaning back in my chair, confused as to why this was my problem.
“Because he gets freaked out every year when I go and doesn’t sleep until I’m back because he assumes a bear is going to maul me in my sleep.”
“Yeah, that sounds about right.”
“So you have to distract him.”
“And how exactly do I do that?”
Craig shrugged, “I don’t know, just hang out with him or something.”
“Very descriptive, thank you for putting so much care into ensuring your boyfriend rests well this weekend.” I said in a deadpan voice, staring at him blankly.
“Can you actually shut the fuck up.”
I straightened in my chair, looking at Craig with an aghast expression.
Is he really going to ask me to babysit his boyfriend that I barely talk to then bitch at me about it?
“Oh? What was that?” I asked, looking down at a fake watch on my wrist then looking back to Craig with a pout, “Sorry, I think my weekend just filled up-”
“Come on, yn.” Craig tried to protest but I continued the act.
“What was that?” I lifted my phone up to my ear, pretending to take a call, “I’m getting a call from Kenny? He wants to have a Mario Party marathon all weekend?” I lowered the phone and looked at Craig with an exaggerated apologetic frown, “Sorry, dude. It looks like I’m busy this weekend. If only someone had said please when asking me to babysit their anxiety ridden boyfriend instead of being asshole of the month-”
“Okay, fine!” Craig shouted, averting his eyes while his hands gripped the bottom of his sweatshirt as though it physically pained him to consider asking nicely, “Will you please hang out with Tweek this weekend?” His eyes darted to my face to catch a glimpse of my reaction before looking away quickly.
I made a show of pondering the request, tapping my finger on my chin and letting out many inquisitive “hmmmm”s. It's not often that THE Craig Tucker asks for something nicely and I wanted to savor the moment in its entirety, but the longer I drew out the bit, the more visible annoyed Craig became. I gave a final inquisitive hmmm before turning back to Craig with a smirk, shrugging my shoulders as I agreed to help.
“Yeah, sure. How hard can it be?”
“No Tweek, Craig’s not going to drown while attempting to catch salmon with his bare hands. I don’t even think he knows what a salmon looks like.”
Turns out it is very hard.
I arrived at Tweek Bros Coffee at 12:30 pm. It was currently 1:43 pm and I've run out of things to do. I brought coloring books but Tweek kept breaking the colored pencils then freaking out about said broken colored pencils. I brought Yahtzee! but Tweek couldn’t figure out how to shake the dice without sending them flying across the cafe. I didn’t even try the Uno deck I’d brought. I only brought it because I genuinely didn’t know much about Tweek and if Yahtzee! wasn’t his thing, I didn’t see Uno being any better.
So here we sat, awkwardly avoiding eye contact at a table as Tweek continued to spiral about the various terrible things that could be happening to Craig on his trip. I had never spent much time with Tweek one-on-one. We’d mixed in a group just fine but the dynamic shift was throwing me off as much as it seemed to throw him off.
Tweek’s leg bounced at sonic speed as a hand tapped on the table with a similar rhythm. His eyes darted around the cafe, focusing on different spots for a second before moving to the next. Anywhere but on me. He’d worn one of Craig’s sweatshirts today, probably as a way to try and calm himself down even if it was a futile attempt, and his other hand twisted the aglet of the hood’s drawstring.
If I hooked him up to a hamster wheel, he could power the whole city for a week.
I shook off the idea. Craig probably wouldn’t approve of me utilizing his boyfriend’s manic energy to generate clean energy.
“So…” I started, trailing off as Tweek snaps his head in my direction, not knowing where I was going now that I had his attention. “What do you and Craig normally do?”
“Well, we usually watch movies or-” He cut off momentarily as a twitch shook his head, “Or he helps me bake something. But now he won’t be able to help me bake if his car is hit by an avalanche on the way back-”
Oh god, not again.
“But that’s not going to happen because they’re going in the opposite direction of the mountains!” I quickly retorted. Tweek’s tense shoulder’s didn’t relax from the response, only pausing his most recent spiral until the next thought crossed his mind.
The awkward silence returned as I wracked my brain for something we could do other than sit here and play verbal tennis with Tweek’s anxiety for the next 48 hours.
I could text Jimmy, Tolkien, and Clyde? Maybe they’ll be better at this than me? Hell, anyone would be better than me at this.
“Do you listen to any music?” I asked. As much as I hated small talk, if Tweek and I are spending the next two days together I might as well take the opportunity to get to know him more.
Tweek shook his head. But with the twitching it looked more like a rapid shake to get water out of your ear. “Not really. I’ve tried listening to lofi or classical music to relax but it’s always so quiet that I can’t help but think about everything that’s bothering me.”
As he spoke, the hand on the table stopped tapping as quickly and his gaze slowed it’s constant jumping. His leg still moved like a rabbit but it seemed he’d forgotten about Craig’s impending doom in favor of music for a brief moment,
Bingo.
“Dude yeah, that’s because you shouldn’t be listening to chill music if you don’t want to think.” I said, jumping at the first conversation topic which seems to have distracted him. Tweek turned to look at me, eyebrows furrowed.
“What do you mean? Craig said that calm music is the best way to calm down-” His eyes widened as he remembered Craig was currently camping his way to death.
Fuck get him back before he spirals again!
“What I mean,” I began, putting both hands on the table to grab Tweek’s attention, “is that when you don’t want to think, you need to listen to loud songs so that you can’t think.”
“How does that even work? If I can’t think then I’m not sentient and if I’m not sentient then am I even human-” I cut Tweek off, pulling out my headphones and connecting them to my phone.
“Here, let me show you.” I put my headphones in his hand, guesting for him to put them in when he stared at me with blank eyes. Once Tweek secured the headphones in his ears, I queued up my favorite ‘life is too much, I need to scream’ songs starting with the classic I’m Not Okay by My Chemical Romance. I made sure the volume was nice and high then sat back to let Tweek experience the true serotonin boost of loud music, no thoughts.
As the song played, I observed Tweek’s movements. Or more accurately, the lack of movement. His leg’s bouncing slowed before eventually coming to a stop. The hand which has incessantly tapped an unknown tune on the table switched to following the familiar beat of the song. His head even began to slowly bob to the music, the once erratic rise and fall of his chest slowing to a natural pace.
Oh my god. I fixed Tweek.
The song came to an end and Tweek remained in his spot, staring into the distance as if in a trance. A small grin snuck onto my face at the sight of the usually jumpy man finally relaxing.
“So, how’d you like it?” I asked, tapping my fingers on the table in a mimicry of a drumroll. Tweek snapped out of his trance, turning to me with a surprisingly calm expression. His eyebrows weren’t permanently furrowed and his shoulders seemed to finally relax from their permanent stiff position below his ears.
“Do you have more?” He answered with a question.
I quickly nodded, opening my phone and beginning to scroll through music as I spoke, “Oh yeah, I have a ton more!” I glanced up at Tweek, “Do you want to listen to more?” I asked, hoping his question wasn’t misunderstood.
Tweek nodded, “You’re right about the music being louder than your thoughts.” He raised a hand to his head, threading it through his blonde locks as his voice dropped to a quieter volume, “I couldn’t hear my own voice. I don’t think I’ve ever not been able to hear my voice in my head.” He snuck a glance in my direction as if to see if I’d noticed the mutterings. I flashed him a smile, hoping to reassure whatever inkling inside of him that it was okay.
“That’s the best part about loud music. You get a moment to sit there and just breathe.” I gestured towards the door with my phone, “Let’s go to my car. Loud music is even better when you’re driving around with a friend.”
As I said “friend”, a small smile pushed its way onto Tweek’s face. He gave a quick nod in response before pulling out my headphones and setting them on the table. We both stood and said goodbye to Tweek’s parents, heading towards the exit.
“Any requests?” I asked over my shoulder as I pushed open the door.
“Anything loud like that last song.” Tweek said then added, “Or louder.”
A laugh burst from my mouth as we walked to my car.
“You listen to one MCR song and now you’re hooked? I must be some sort of miracle worker.”
I walked around the car to the driver’s side while Tweek stood in front of the passenger door. We locked eyes from over the hood. A chill snuck its way up my spine, leaving an energetic tingle over my skin. The awkward atmosphere which suffocated us had dissipated, evaporating into the air and leaving a warm comfort settling in the air.
Tweek looked so much better with a smile. The worry lines never suited his face. I much preferred the smile lines carved into his face.
I wonder if he’ll ever have wrinkles there instead of his forehead.
My face broke into a grin as I pulled the door open.
“I cannot wait to show you KISS.” I said before ducking into the car, Tweek following close behind.
Craig’s going to be so pissed when he comes back and I’m best friends with his boyfriend. Serves him right for leaving, little bitch. I thought with a grin, starting my car and pulling out of the parking lot with Detroit Rock City blasting through the speakers, leaving a trail of vibrating air in our wake.

Do you have any food preference HCs? Like I think Craig would be a very picky eater, wouldn't like much seasoning, etc. Kraft mac n' cheese, chicken nuggets, and pb&j sandwiches are his best friend. Was curious if you have any ideas like that about him or the other characters bc I've been loving reading your HCs so far :)
hmm,,, i have a coffee preference post here regarding stan and kyle, but here are some other hcs i have (:
Kenny:
he has a very diverse pallet. he likes just about any food you give him unless its like, boiled unseasoned potatoes, but he'll still eat it. not particularly picky, but he does have preference for spicier foods or anything with loud and/or complex flavor profiles. he loves flavor bombs!
Cartman:
sweets and savory all the way. hes a southern comfort food enjoyer and a fructose fiend. everything from fried chicken, shepards pie, and ham to ice cream, and blackberry cobbler is on his wishlist. hes mildly picky in that hes not a fan of middle eastern or mediterranean food or things that are "out of his comfort zone." but he's still a big spice eater and loves mexican food in particular.
Kyle:
he was raised to not be picky because it's considered rude, but he's pretty picky in nature so he just learned to get around it. has some sensory issues regarding some cooking styles of vegetables and texture stuff. cant do cooked celery or onion because of the texture unless its finely minced, pureed, or powdered. not a fan of fish because he ate so much of it growing up, and because his mom would make these salmon patties that had would have bones in them so now any time he eats salmon or any fish he feels the need to vomit. (these are real btw. my family and many others made them. they had bones that you were supposed to just eat because they were crunchy enough to do so. nightmarish food istg.)
he also goes kosher in middle school when he connects more with his faith so... no more denny's bacon specials lmao.
Stan:
definitely more picky then the other four when it comes to flavor. doesn't like spicy foods and hates the texture of onions so he has to use minced, pureed, or powdered in recipes. he has the cilantro gene which makes visits to kyle's family for dinner pretty embarrassing. he doesn't like to make a big deal about it but he HAS to tell ms broflovski because if something even has a whiff of cilantro the entire meal tastes like soap and stink bug chemicals. sheila is very understanding of this and doesn't mind too much because the flavor of cilantro can be easily replicated with other herbs/spices. also has a huge vendetta against celery. it does NOT just "taste green" kyle, it's WEIRD and SHARP and the cooked texture is GROSS! hates steamed broccoli but tries to get over that in high school by eating it in frozen meals to get accustomed to it. not a big fan of things that are too sweet. sweets are best when they're just sweet enough to be yummy but not overpowering or super rich. the only "rich" sweet he likes is chocolate torte, and ONLY with black coffee to balance it out and it HAS to be in small alternating bites: like bite of torte, sip of coffee, bite of torte, sip of coffee, and so on.
Craig:
very restricted diet that sticks mostly to bland safe foods. every day for lunch he eats one of those uncrustable pb&js or honey and peanut butter. surprisingly a lot of his safe foods are vegetables of some sort because he ate them a lot as a little kid so hes accustomed to them and they feel "fresher" than other foods that can be overstimulating. they cant be cooked though, only raw. so he loves those veggie platters. broccoli is crossing the line a bit for him though because of the odd texture, so that's iffy for him. carrot sticks, celery, and ice berg lettuce are great though. some other non-veggie safe foods are white meat chicken or turkey, and instant mashed potatoes. he cant do normal mashed potatoes because they taste almost... smotheringly starchy?? the same with baked potatoes. but instant Idahoan brand instant mashed potatoes are lighter and smoother with a different taste. he can do cooked green beans as long as they still taste green and weren't cooked in a broth/grease of any sort, but he cant do peas because they're too mushy and weird.

okay so i saw the anon post about a reader/sukuna/yuuji connection and also had a thought
what would reader do if she came across yuuji as a kid? like, five years old. reader is freshly incarnated.
they cross paths and reader stops dead in her tracks because gods above he looks just like her love. yeah she knows that people can have lookalikes throughout the ages but it’s downright uncanny. not just that very specific shade of salmon pink hair, but down to the way this child is smiling. the way it starts as a little quirk in the corner of his mouth before it’s all teeth and pure glee. granted, the child is gleeful over winning the game rather than murdering dozens of humans.
of course he’s human. some cursed energy, but it doesn’t feel the same as sukuna’s and he can’t use it anyway. this kid’s soul is extremely durable but some humans can be weird that way. none of that explains why this child shares the same face that she saw in that shared memory all millennia ago.
she certainly didn’t procreate with sukuna. as far as she knows, she’s the only one to ever survive sharing a bed with sukuna.
before reader has the opportunity to spiral over the idea of sukuna siring some bastard that she never knew about, there’s kaori-jaku.
sorry for rambling anyway this story ends with kenny and reader making eye contact and reader’s “what the f-“ is cut off like that episode of malcom in the middle
Tumblr media
LMFAO, I don't think she'd outright kill Yuuji. I think like you said she'd be stunned, I think it's like looking into a life she would've never had with Sukuna - because they were so deep into basically a war of them vs the world. They could never settle down and have kids despite how much they loved each other, it was just never on the cards for them
So she's probably just staring at this child and yearning, I guess, more in a broken-hearted kind of way. Because she obviously at this point hasn't got Sukuna back yet, has no idea what Kenjaku had planned and so she's staring at a life she'll never have all on her own
And if she saw Kaori-jaku (lmao I like that name), I think she's absolutely outraged but devastated too because that should've been her. I guess. Like she's never liked Kenjaku (I'm actually about to write Kenjaku again in C.U so you'll get to see more as to why she's not a fan) and then she sees Kenjaku making a family with a child that looks identical to the man who bound his soul to hers
Kenjaku probably has about 5 seconds to explain the reason before reader kills her though LMAO

If you’re a fan of Jewish delis that serve breakfast, then you likely have a soft spot for the LEO. No, we’re not talking about your uncle; we’re talking about the classic zhuzhed-up scramble made with lox, eggs and onion that’s a staple everywhere from Russ & Daughters in New York, to Kenny and Ziggy’s in Texas, to Wise Sons in California.
The LEO is an ode to the building blocks of Jewish American Ashkenazi food. While you might think of lox as an ancient Ashkenazi food, salmon wasn’t actually a common ingredient in Eastern European cuisine. When Jews immigrated to the United States in the early 20th century it coincided with a time when salmon was being amply shipped from the West Coast. Salmon is clearly ideal for smoking and curing with its fattiness and subtle flavor, and lox quickly became a favored deli staple.
As for onions – caramelized ones are an essential, and make for an inexpensive way to add a big depth of flavor to a wide range of dishes. Think: bialys and chopped liver. My grandmother seemed to constantly be standing over a stove stirring onions in a skillet until golden brown, and then adding them to just about every savory dish she made. That said, the shade of your LEO onions are a personal preference; if you like them on the paler side, simply sauté them for less time. Buttery eggs bring everything together with their rich, intrinsically dairy-free, hearty friendliness. A final garnish of chives or dill adds a touch of freshness.
The LEO is always a nostalgic, satisfying breakfast, no bagel required (but absolutely welcome on the side). This recipe comes together in under half an hour and can be doubled as needed. For that reason, I love serving this to friends and family as an easy, flavor-filled brunch.

Disclaimer: This is all in good fun and was mostly inspired by the upcoming jjk poll. Will not tag this in jjk as I am not here currently to start fighting people.
Ok the latest poll got me thinking about what characters were on that list last time. So this is basically me side eyeing everyone for their choices last year
Megumi - I get it. Megumi’s pretty cool. Took me a while to get to that point but I’ve accepted this man’s popularity and I just go along with it. Really don’t have anything else to say about him.
Gojo - Can’t believe he was still in the box during this. You can tell how strong the Gojo fans are because he has not been seen in action for YEARS yet you’re still voting for him. Props to you I guess. Good luck beating Gege and getting him 1st in the next poll
Yuji - Ok my boy was not fighting in the TRENCHES to become 3rd in his own series. Yes he should have gotten 1st yes I will stand by that until the day I die and yes I still can’t believe he got outdone by a guy in a box.
Geto - I know you’re all coping bc of his death with him being in top 5 and honestly me too. Gege still won’t let this poor man rest so you won’t let the anyone else in the fandom rest as a consequence. Don’t expect him to be in top 5 again but who knows.
Nanami - Overtime sorcerer SUPREMACY. I best see him here again because he does not miss. Nanami fans are the real ones so I’m not dragging on him.
Inumaki - Salmon Salmon. For a man who also hasn’t been seen in 2 years he did pretty well all things considered. I’m still waiting for him to show up so until then you go Inumaki fans.
Choso - Ok I’m just salty here but you lot really put HIM here on the top 10. How much screen time did this man really have. He did not deserve to be placed that high and if I see him being placed higher than Yuki then we know it’s on sight. He’s great and all but really? Just really?
Yuta - As a resident Yuta has never done anything wrong, I am disappointed in all of you. Did vol 0 mean nothing? Was his interactions with Yuji nothing to all of you. To the point of Choso overtaking him. Smh
Toji - I’m going to assume it’s the horny and leave. You did not drag the no child support, fugly grey sweatpants, boring ass guy into the top 10. Just admit that he’s hot and take your leave. Ok being fair he was a good antagonist during the hidden Inventory arc but istg if I hear more Toji stuff we are not going to see me again.
Naoya - OK LISTEN UP HERE EVERYBODY. HOW MANY PANELS DID THIS FUCKER HAVE. WHAT IN THE ABSOLUTE HELL DID HE DO IN THE ENTIRETY OF THE MANGA OTHER THAN BEING COOKED BY MAKI. IM WAITING. This just feels like fandom misogyny as the next two people are in the manga for 10x longer and did more things overall, to then be overshadowed by this dickhead.
Nobara - My beloved you did not deserve to be snuffed out of top 10. I am still on that copium that she’s still alive but honestly you really had to do her like that :(
Maki - Ok this is where I really question some of your tastes. So she had one of the PEAK arcs in all of the manga, went to hell and back and served us in every shape and form and this is what she gets. Losing to Naoya. Telling you lot to sort your misogyny out for the next poll because if she doesn’t reach top 3 Istg
Sukuna - Right, he’s a bit of a guilty pleasure as he is one of the funniest characters in this series after Kenny and Todo. Am suprised that he didn’t hit top 10 but he’s been binding his time to skyrocket to the big numbers especially in the recent chapters.
Todo - AYYYYYYY. Kyoto student found in the wild quick catch them before they get into the sea of irrelevancy. Ok that was too harsh but I’m proud of the Todo fans for getting him up there. He truly is the homie of the jjk world hopefully he keeps his placement because he’s too cool to not be on this list.
Utahime - OMG OMG OMG OMG. This was very unexpected. I thought Shoko would be here (she’s 24th) but I am grateful for it. The voice at the back of my head is trying to say that it’s cause of the shipping but I am ignoring it to focus on my girl entirely. Congrats everyone. If she manages to get in the top 15 again, do you think Gege will add more to her character. Nah he’ll probably just put her on the hit list which is not what we want to see here.
Yeah I think the poll overall was alright and obviously was for fun but after the placement of certain characters you know I’m side-eyeing you lot.
Characters I want/hope to reach the list : Yuki,Riko, Kirara, Hakari, Higuruma, Angel/Hana, Kenjaku, Uruame
