YO! The Relentless Lark is coming to Kickstarter on the 18th!

A teen vigilante goes on the hunt for a copycat impersonating her superhero father. She’s got a three-day weekend to find the culprit which will take her on a tour/beatdown through an office building, a masquerade at a haunted mansion, and a cat-and-mouse game on a frozen lake during a blizzard.  

Our three issues are drawn by Max Pinelli, Kaylee Rowena, and Becca Kubrick, respectively. Three issues, three artists, three genres. One killer story.

Get ready to rock.

i think a lot of online artists would be happier if they saw other good artists as peers from the jump. like. i am a professional artmaker i have no reason to be nervous around other people doing the same. i’m not shy i’m treating you as my buddy. we’re buddies now love your art btw. like none of that overfamiliar bs, respect people’s boundaries and all that, but also ur never gonna make the important connections you need to survive in the art world without getting over a little hero worship. this artist that i like is cool and so am i!!!!!

Things you can do for Halloween that aren’t parties, costumes, or trick-or-treating.

I always get asked why I love Halloween so much when I don’t do any of the three things people associate with the holiday. So, depending on your location, you can also:

Visit a pumpkin patch

Go on a hay ride (haunted or not!)

Go on a ghost walk 

Go to a doggy Halloween parade 

Go to a regular Halloween parade

Get lost in a dang corn maze

Paint/carve a pumpkin

Paint pumpkins with a child you love!

Watch Halloween special cartoons

Watch horror movies

Read spooky/horror books

Read scary stories aloud with your friends

Bake Halloween-themed goodies

Invite your friends to come to a nighttime gathering (at your house or a park, etc) and tell each other scary stories. Tip from experience: Make it clear in your invitation whether you want people to bring “true” or fictional stories. People who believe in ghosts and people who do not believe in ghosts are looking for very different experiences, so I don’t recommend mingling the two (again, based on experience).

Start a Halloween-themed book club just in Sept/Oct. Read books like Kiki’s Delivery Service, Frankenstein, or Ring Shout together.

Or join the Shirley Jackson book club

Take free/affordable horror writing classes through Clarion West

Support indie artists who make spooky art. I for one am super excited about Kaylee Rowena’s October postcard for Patreon supporters. Last year I got prints from Little Spooky Studio.

In the post about the squad meeting AU SamRuby’s daughter (not /necessarily/ Kaylee *wink* but definitely Kaylee) who dates Jack and causes “angel-demon political/cultural ramifications” what thoughts do you have in mind for said ramifications?

Honestly, I don’t remember if I had any specifics in mind, but I could definitely see few issues popping up.

Pretty much all parties would be concerned about a teenage Antichrist of unknown loyalties appearing out of nowhere. She’s powerful, potentially reality-bending if we’re going with a canonical Antichrist. Add to that the cunning required to survive so long, honed by her absolutely badass parents— regardless of which version of Sam and Ruby.

She’ll definitely make a splash in Hell. If this is pre-Rowena Queen of Hell, then there’s a power vacuum into fill. If Rowena is Queen, then there might exist some tension over Rowena’s actual qualifications, an issue that could either be brought up by anti-Rowena demons or the alt!daughter if she’s feeling ambitious. If she’s full-on teen Kaylee, then she’d likely get dragged into Hell (so to speak) either as soon as demons started finding out who she is or when she eventually decided it was in Hell’s best interest.

Another consideration is that, if she ended up dating Jack, you can bet she would be very protective of him. She’s well aware that he’s a bit naive and gullible; his sincerity is something she cherishes, but it makes him easier to manipulate. As such, she uses her predator instincts to spot anyone who would use Jack’s power for their own gain. This would piss off plenty of opportunists that exist across the board.

Also, the mere arrival of a new Winchester feels like the sort of thing that just throws the ecosystem of the supernatural world out of whack. That plus Sam and Dean (and to a lesser extent Castiel) going through all the drama of rehashing Sam and Ruby’s relationship— I could definitely see opportunities to spin off lots of conflict.
