Medieval (2022): Winter Is Coming [EXCLUSIVE CLIP]
In Screen Rant's exclusive clip from Medieval, audiences can bear witness to the court squabbles that the two sibling Kings (played by Matthew GoodE and Karel Roden) engage in with Lord Rosenberg (played by Til Schweiger). The tension between them is palpable, and only a grand entrance by Lord Boresh himself can quell the raging animosity for now. Check out the full clip above.
At its core, Medieval is a tale about morality, as it is largely Jan [Zizka]'s internal righteousness that paves his path in the future. While he begins the film firmly believing that a King is akin to God, and thus their word is law, his interactions with Katherine change his view over the course of the film. How his growing love for her, and thus his understanding of her desires to serve the people rather than the kingdom, affect his actions has yet to be been. But one thing is certain: his choices will decide the fate of the Holy Roman Emperor.
- Screen Rant: Winter Is Coming To The Holy Roman Empire In Medieval [EXCLUSIVE CLIP] Screen Rant presents an exclusive clip from Medieval, starring Ben Foster, Michael Caine, and Matthew GoodE. Sept 7, 2022

Bulletproof Monk (2003)
Tumblr media
Bulletproof Monk is unremarkable in every way. It’s bad, but not the fun kind of bad. You watch it and then it leaves your memory immediately. Sort of like a fart from the bathroom stall next to you. Nasty? Yes, but nothing that would make for a great campfire story.
In 1964, no one’s notified Colonel Strucker (Karel Roden) that the Nazis have been defeated. Barging in on a sacred, hidden temple, he seeks its most precious treasure: a scroll that grants immense power and its wielder the ability to reshape the world at will. The scroll’s caretaker (Chow Yun Fat) escapes with it. Though successfully hiding for sixty years, the nameless guardian is drawn out of the shadows when he encounters a thief with a heart of gold, Kar (Sean William-Scott).
Though Bulletproof Monk wasn't Chow Yun-fat's Hollywood debut, it feels like telling a great story was a secondary objective and the real goal was to introduce him to a whole new audience. Why else would he be paired with a familiar, but not quite A-calibre co-star that - of course - can’t pull off the action scenes? To be fair, William-Scott does fairly well with the stunts he's given but it's nothing that'll have you picking up your jaw from the floor. In fact, there’s nothing impressive about the huge amount of wirework or choreography on display. None of the punches and kicks feel impactful at all. With that appeal gone, the film depends on its story to carry it all the way, which doesn't bode well for anyone.
Even when Bulletproof Monk tries to mix things up and attempt something novel, it doesn’t feel inspired. It’s like whenever the team had to choose whether to go for the REALLY obvious, cliché, or option B), they decided to flip a coin. You can foresee everything the film’s got to offer as clearly as the moon on a cloudless night. This means you'll be bored and more than able to pick up on stuff that foretells what's coming next - the stuff that might not normally have been so obvious - even more easily. For a few minutes, I looked at Karel Roden in old man makeup and wondered why they didn’t just cast an actual old man in the part. It’ll become obvious as the plot moves forward, don’t worry. In retrospect, I can’t believe I didn’t see what Jaime King’s Jade was going to contribute at the very end of the film.
Bulletproof Monk is a waste of time. It’s not that you'll want to scratch your eyes out to make it stop (though there are a lot of bad scenes); it's that you won't remember a thing about this movie days later. You'll wonder where the time went and be disappointed when you realize it got flushed away for this. (On DVD, April 14, 2017)

In 1966, somewhere in Russia, a wounded woman drives a truck to an isolated farm with two babies. 40 years later, film producer Marie Jones leaves her daughter in California and travels back to her home land in the wilderness of Russia. Marie is one of the children and had received a phone call from the notary public Andrei Misharin, who told her where the farm of her family is located. Marie arrives at the abandoned house and meets the stranger Nicolai, who tells her that he had also received a call from Misharin and he is her twin brother. Weird things happen in the house and Marie and Nicolai are haunted by zombie-like ghosts of themselves. Further, they find that they are trapped in the house and cannot leave the place.

Tumblr media
Možná jste už nějaké recenze zaznamenali. Možná víte, co o tomto filmu říká většina lidí. Well, já nejsem jako ostatní holky.
Ktož jsú boží bojovníci z úst marně lip-syncujících zahraničních herců a komparzu *chef’s kiss*
To už vysvětlovat nebudu.

Guillermo Del Torro look back :Hellboy
So Guillermo Del Torro is one of the most celebrated directors we have .With the release of his Pinocchio coming soon ,I wanted to look back on some of his films ,and I decided to start with my intro to his work ,a lil comic book movie called Hellboy
Tumblr media
This 2004 film we follow a demon named Hellboy (Ron Perlman ) who works for a agency to deal with supernatural beasties , when Gregori Rasputin(Karel Roden ) returns from oblivion to use Hellboy for nefarious purposes
SO in the early 2000's we were at the start of the comic book movie boom that for better or worse is still going on to this day ,and Hellboy is actually one of the best ones or has aged the best ,at least to me .Its also one of my favorite Del Torro films
The aesthetics to the film ar e gorgeus from the set design to a wonderfully melanchooly color pallate of blue and yellow .There are some great side character from Jeffrey Tambor as boorish beauracrat ,Doug Jones as brainy fish man Abe Sapien (With a solid uncredited vocal performance by David Hyde Pierce ) ,Selma Blair as a pyrokinetic love interest Liz and especially John Hurt as Hellboys father gives both an intelligence and warmth .We also get some great cretures my favorites being the nearly unkillable Sammuell and the creepy mask wearing Nazi assassin Kroenan who makes for a very effective secondary bad guy .Needless to say the film is directed beautifully ,with Del Torro bringing a sadness, and his eye for beauty in the monstrus to the genre as well as his love for fantasy and horror while still making it a fun action flick .What makes the film work however is Ron Perlman ,playing possibly his most definative character.PErlman has a LOT he has to do and he succeeds at all of them marvelously .He nails the blue collar vibe of the character as well as the humor, the badass qualities, and the vulnerability when it comes to his father and Liz ,all under heavy makeup .This is PErlmans movie
If the film has flaws there are three ,but none are dealbreakers .
1.It feels like a pilot at points ,with the fact the film has to establish a lot though I also attribute that to problem 2
2.Agent Meyers who is our audience surrogate. He's not a bad character,Rupert Evans does a fine job....He just feels like he is there cause the studio wanted a normal human guy ,when the film doesnt need him ,the intro already does a great job introducing us to this world and we dont need a view point character,he just distracts from Hellboy
3.RAsputin is just.....OK villain wise .I dunno why but I never found him that engaging ,the actor Karel Roden is good ,just something bout him just doesnt click
Overall this is one of the best comic book movies in my oppinion,if youlike practical effects/makeup, monsters ,gorgeous visuals and Ron Perlman its worth a watch

Quote
Marek Koutesh, Movie Screen CZ
[Google Translate from Czech]
Jákl still only thinks in a limited range of schemes. If he arranges the scene, he fails to surprise. His evocations of feelings and moods, which he creates through style, are like a playbook, for better or for worse. He sees his characters in only a few archetypes and often leaves it up to the actors to give them some plasticity. Someone chooses minimalism and attempts at impenetrability ( Ben Foster , Karel Roden ), but others excel ( Matthew GoodE , Til Schweiger ). Only Michael Caine seems eager to return to his hotel suite.

You like del Toro you say? Share with me your feelings on the Hellboy movies!! and have you seen Shape of Water?
Only part of Shape of Water and I like it but at the same time, the human element turns me off. Maybe it's because I'm not a fan of Michael Shannon but I can't get behind it. I prefer seeing the Fishman interactions and how Doug had to actively remind himself NOT to act human and instead give a dog-like impression at times.
I FREAKING LOVE HELLBOY. Didn't see Hellboy 2 but good grief I love Karel Roden in literally everything he's in. He's so good! And seeing Sammael just freaked me out....but in a good way!
I also love Pan's Labrynth and I just love the Faun so much. Never got into the Devil's Backbone, even though I tried. But Pacific Rim was the SHIT. LOVED IT!
