I HAVE WAY MORE, but this'll have to do for now.

And for general quotes, I have too, tooooo many, but for some reason this one scene from the Jinchuriki priest comes to mind that was connected to Shukaku...
Tumblr media
I hope you can see why~ Though this is rarely, if ever, talked about. Gaara's Kanji on his forehead says 'love':
Tumblr media
And yet, Kishimoto uses this moment to emphasize on the accepting of hidden feelings/heart for multiple reasons. And when Naruto and Sasuke were able to truly, truly look into each other's hearts, in the end Sasuke found it in himself to accept and receive Naruto's love.
Tumblr media
Oh Kishimoto~ hehe *giggles, twirls hair, kicks feet etc-*

Itachi is far from the only Naruto character to be misunderstood by the wider fanbase. Rock Lee, Sakura, Tobi and Kabuto probably all have more egregious misreads. However, the thing that is special about Itachi is that I don’t solely blame the fanbase for misunderstanding him. A character like Lee has a story that is actually really easy to follow, people just choose not to do that. Meanwhile, Itachi’s story was pretty deliberately made to be confusing, told over the course of 600 chapters by unreliable narrator after unreliable narrator and if that doesn’t make things bad enough, Itachi actually goes through development later in the story that makes him contradict his earlier actions. Character development isn’t bad, but when you think of Itachi, you don’t think of a character who needs to grow. You think of a character who has grown and facilitates the growth of others. Let’s start going into why that understanding of Itachi isn’t really complete.
The first thing to address with itachi is probably the question of “When did Itachi become "good"?" This question does not have an exact answer, but it is far easier to narrow down than you might think. As soon as Itachi was turned into Sasuke’s end goal, it was pretty obvious that what we knew with him was not the full story. Kishimoto has said that he had always planned to make Naruto’s confrontation with Sasuke the final act in the series, so Sasuke could never get killed by Itachi. However, having Sasuke kill Itachi and just move on is also just very antithetical to the kind of story that Naruto tells. When Naruto thinks that Haku has killed one of the few friends he has made, he goes berserk but can’t kill Haku. The revenge is not worth ending another life, another story, another set of dreams. Gaara, a murderer, gets spared by Naruto for the exact same reason. Everytime we’re shown a vile character in the series, they’re shown some level of humanity to blur the line between a simple battle of good and evil. Going off of this, the climax of Sasuke’s character just being a one and done was never on the drawing board, there was always going to be more with Itachi and you can see more and more of that laid out as the story moves on.
In the Land of Waves, we don’t even get Itachi’s name. We just know that Sasuke wants to kill someone and we only find out that it’s his brother at the very end of the arc. Then, in the Chunin Exams, we get to learn how much of a poison he is on Sasuke. First he is an inhibitor, preventing Sasuke from taking action when his friends are in danger. After this, he becomes a motivator, the thing that constantly pushes Sasuke to rely on the cursed mark. However, when we finally get to meet Itachi in the following arc, he isn’t this evil and disgusting person like a mass murderer should be. He’s calm and cordial. He holds respect for his leaf superiors like Kakashi and Jiraiya. After this, we get a very classic Kishimoto move where a character will say or do one thing and another, seemingly unrelated character will say or do the same thing but completely screw the meaning on it. Near the end of the Search for Tsunade, Jiraiya floats the idea that a ninja isn’t one who knows ninjutsu, but rather as the kanji literally says, a ninja is one who endures. When Jiraiya says this, he means that a ninja is someone who when beat down always gets back up. That’s what he does and what he teaches Naruto to do. However, Sasuke’s flashback of Itachi shows that he is also a ninja that endures. It’s just that he doesn’t endure physically, it’s his emotional endurance that he hones. In his eyes, living life while being hated is just a shinobi’s job. He tells Sasuke that he’ll always be there as a wall that Sasuke needs to climb over and is ok if Sasuke hates him for that. It is probably at this moment that it was decided how Itachi’s story would end, but Kishimoto just keeps hammering away at it. When Itachi shows up in the Kazekage Rescue using Yura as a conduit, he is given a slight moment of vulnerability when Kakashi asks how much of his eyesight has he lost from using the Mangekyou Sharingan. When Sasuke inevitably faces down against Itachi it is already confirmed that he won’t be fighting Itachi at his best. Sasuke will be putting down a legally blind ninja. However, Itachi’s next meeting with Naruto is where things get REALLY serious because we know that capturing Naruto is one of Itachi’s goals as an Akatsuki member, yet he uses a confrontation with him just to talk about Sasuke and gauge why Naruto cares so much, responding with a smile when Naruto brags about being more of a brother to Sasuke when Itachi ever was.
This scene happens shortly before Itachi’s death and while Itachi acts much more villainous in his fight with Sasuke, it’s over the top to the point of being out of character. And that’s because it literally is out of character. Itachi is acting. This entire time Itachi has just been trying to be the wall for Sasuke to climb over. With Itachi’s death, Sasuke would be a hero of the leaf, the hero of the Uchiha. He just joined the Akatsuki in order to leak information on them to the Hidden Leaf, that’s why he showed up after the Chunin Exams. Itachi loves the Leaf and Sasuke more than anyone else. That makes him a good guy, right? Well….. Itachi’s plan had one fatal flaw. Sasuke isn’t a thing. Sasuke is a person. And when Sasuke learned that Itachi was manipulated into killing HIS FAMILY for the sake of the village, his anger wasn’t quelled, merely redirected. This is Itachi’s biggest flaw in general. He has a superman complex, he wants the best for the people he loves and the world around them, but doesn’t actually trust them to move in a better direction on their own, so he tries to “manipulate” them into the right path. Itachi had several contingency plans for steering Sasuke back to Konoha. He implanted one cast of Amaterasu in Sasuke’s eye that would react to Tobi, the only person who knew the truth and had some incentive to tell Sasuke. In case that wasn’t enough, he also forced a crow with Kotoamatsukami onto Naruto. With this, Sasuke would become literally brainwashed to protect Konoha if he met Naruto after obtaining the eternal Mangekyo. Every time that Sasuke has a chance to make his own path in life, to create the future that he wants, Itachi attempts to derail him and send him on the path that *Itachi* wants.
It is in this way that Itachi being a wall for Sasuke stops having a double meaning and gains a triple meaning as he is the thing preventing his brother from progressing in a natural state. Following the death of his brother, Sasuke spirals even further, losing himself to hate. He isolates himself in the same way that Itachi isolated himself because just like Itachi before him, Sasuke has become convinced that no one could ever understand his position, his motivations. In trying to steer Sasuke away from the life of a rogue criminal, Itachi perfectly set Sasuke up to become one and when he’s revived as a Reanimated Corpse, he gets to meet with Naruto for a final time and learns that all of his scheming, all of his planning. It was pointless. He hurt the person he loved the most again and again for little to no gain. However, before Itachi can despair, Naruto says something that Itachi has needed to hear for his entire life. He says that he’ll handle it. Out of context, this wouldn’t really be satisfying, it would just be Naruto inheriting Superman’s burden, not actually fixing anything, but Naruto has dealt with this desire to fix everything after beating Pain and more importantly, he has dealt with the unearned desire to control Sasuke’s life.
Naruto and Itachi are both, in a way, Sasuke’s brother. Well, Itachi literally is, but Naruto is more of a spiritual sibling, if you want to use a term less romantically charged than “soulmate”. Tangent aside, this link of Sasuke is one of the only things that Naruto and Itachi have in common. Outside of that, they are polar opposite characters, most notably in their view of being a ninja. This is where you see the clash in the two main types of endurance. Naruto is famously loud, garish and obnoxious. He makes no attempt to hide his presence and even less of an attempt to hide his feelings. He is far from a natural in the realm of ninjutsu and he is super willing to ask for help. Well, it’s less that he’s willing and more that he constantly needs to ask for help. He can’t even perform a single technique on his own. Even when performing the Rasengan, he summons a copy of himself for assistance. All of this is antithetical to Itachi who was so lowkey in his methods that no one even knew that he was doing a job. While Naruto’s aces in the hole all rely on cooperation from someone else, Itachi's ultimate technique is the Susano’o. An avatar of his own hateful chakra that protects him from the world, with the ability to “Help through all means”. His emotions? Secondary. His skills? Boundless. Naruto is the anti-ninja while Itachi is the perfect ninja, the absolute apex of the field. I know a few people who dislike Itachi because of this. To them, it makes him seem “Gary Stu”-ish. I have one complaint with that. Gary Stus do not fail. Itachi does. Itachi needs to be perfect in order to convey that there really was nothing that he could have executed better. With all of the intelligence and power in the world he was not able to save his clan or keep Sasuke on the path to righteousness. Naruto and Itachi are two separate sides of a coin. With all these differences, Sasuke is the only thing connecting them. Well, that and the fact that they both wanted to control what he did with his life, dragging him back to the leaf whether he wanted to go or not. Naruto realized this in the Five Kage Summit, thanks to events of the Pain arc and when he confronted Sasuke, he met him not with “scaring-the-hoes” level of desire or control, but with understanding and just told Sasuke to meet him when he’s ready. Now, Itachi’s final mission is finding a way to embody this same lesson that Naruto did.
The problem here is that Itachi isn’t a Gary Stu. For all of his unimaginable skill on the battlefield, he doesn’t have Naruto’s emotional intelligence and instead veers way too hard in the other direction. He spots Sasuke in the war and initially wants nothing to do with him. He already tried to save his brother and failed. Sasuke is someone else’s problem now. Somehow, Itachi just keeps making that same mistake where he doesn’t consider how Sasuke feels about constantly getting jerked around by lie after lie after life. After Sasuke and Itachi’s fight with Kabuto, which I actually want to wait to talk about, Itachi puts Sasuke in one final genjutsu. Not to torture him, but to show Sasuke his untainted memories. Itachi does not seem strong here, mentally at least. He seems helpless. His clan and nation are trending towards war and all of his plans to avert it are coming up short. Itachi has to kill his parents, not with a stoic face as Sasuke remembers, but a balled up one, crying through the entire event. His love, his patriotism. Those values forced Itachi into this. It is only now as Itachi’s consciousness fades that he realizes he was never alone. Sasuke was there, always chasing his big brother. If Itachi saw him more as a person and less as a thing, he could have helped save their clan. That is the last time we ever get to see Itachi, but his presence is felt until the end of the story with Sasuke. Sasuke who was previously bent on destroying Konoha is now stuck there grappling with Itachi’s immense patriotism. He can hold onto that feeling, but doesn’t know what it means. After reviving the Hokage, he gets the history of the ninja village from Hashirama and Hiruzen's opinion on Itachi. According to Hiruzen, Itachi was able to think like a Hokage since he was a child, always seeing the survival of the village as the most important goal. Hashirama even says that Itachi was a better ninja than he was for this. I don’t think it is very surprising that Sasuke’s end goal stopped being the destruction of Konoha and shifted to the destruction of the current understanding of the ninja world. Itachi’s love for his nation was manipulated by those with power in order to secure 5 more measly years of security for a system not meant to last. Kage like Hashirama and Hiruzen still see honor in what Itachi did. If given the chance, they would let it happen to another clan. These two were at the creation of modern ninja society. Their viewpoints aren’t special in their callousness. It is the norm. So, Sasuke concocts his plan. He will think like a Hokage, just like Itachi. By that I don’t mean become the leader of the leaf, but rather stoking the Fire (火) from the Shadows (影). He will commit acts of violence to unite all hatred against him, creating peace as a result. For all of eternity if he needs to. Sasuke never followed Itachi’s signposts, but he did pay attention to what Itachi did and this is just his philosophy taken to a global scale. That is the legacy of Naruto’s most perfect ninja. A lonely brother willing to become the main villain of the entire world because a true hero protects from the shadows, right?
I really would like to end on the last paragraph, but I couldn’t find a place to talk about Itachi vs Kabuto smoothly without breaking flow so I just have to make a quick break here. Throughout the series we see the Root and Otogakure as rivals of sorts. Both organizations are concerned with producing “perfect” ninja with the goals of securing more power for the man at the top. Itachi bringing down Kabuto shows these two ideologies crashing into each other and destroying each other. Danzo’s root focuses on killing individuality. There is no individual, only the village. Itachi, while not formally being a part of the Root, was commanded by Danzo and ended up internalizing many of his teachings. By the time of his death, no one really knew who Itachi was, “Itachi” as a person was erased to better serve his mission. Meanwhile Orochimaru’s style embraced individuality, or so it claimed. He would find young talent and implant them with curses, drugs, new techniques, anything that could go towards self actualization and the accumulation of power. This birthed Kabuto, someone who had added so much to himself that he could no longer begin to identify himself. Although the two organizations had opposing methods, they both ended up at the same location and if anyone could break Kabuto out of this prison of the self, it was Itachi. These two spies with no sense of self were able to regain their identities thanks to each other in one of my personal favorite fights in the series.

— Explaining Konohagakure’s Medical Department from Naruto to Boruto:
The information presented in this post has been checked and revised. My aim is not to hate or to discredit any of the characters mentioned. Please read about me for further information.
This post will contain evidence in picture format directly from the manga Naruto (1999 - 2014) created by Masashi Kishimoto and published by Shueisha in 1999. I will also use information from the official databooks.
This informative post will explain the role and utility of the Medical Department from its debut in Naruto to its development and role in Boruto. I will use information present in the novels and the Boruto manga because it includes character development within canon compliance.
This meta will be crossposted in AO3.
I give my permission to use or share this thread with informative purposes as long as you credit me.
I do not support the anime or the work of Studio Pierrot in regards to Naruto because I consider it over exaggerated and beyond biased. Furthermore, these fillers include some actions that these characters are unable to do in the canon according to official sources and they also generate unnecessary debate.
This meta does contain anime scenes from Boruto because it is a monthly manga draft that depends heavily on anime for context.
Please, take this into consideration.
This meta will include a small discussion from my own point of view about the Medical Department and its members. There will be strong criticism and complaints, comparisons with other characters, previous leaders, etc.

HISTORY:
The Medical Department ( 医療部門, Iryō-Bumon), also known or previously known as Medic Corps (医療部隊, Iryō-Butai) is one of the three main departmental divisions of Konohagakure. They are organized in the medical-ninja from Konoha Hospital (木ノ葉病院, Konoha Byōin) and they are in charge of providing medical care within the village and in the battlefield by the training of field medical-ninja.
Their members also work in developing medical items such as medicines, ninjutsu, etc. Some time after the global conflict, the Medical Department has seen the development of new medical branches and facilities; it is also supervised by Sakura Uchiha as department head, hailed as the world’s best medical-ninja.
Tumblr media
Konohagakure's official department organization according to the first fanbook.
It is unknown when the organization itself started or when Konoha Hospital came to exist, but the concept of medical-ninjas has existed since the era of the Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi. Around the second conflict, Tsunade advocated for the inclusion of one medical-ninja per team to palliate the effects of the conflict.
Tumblr media
Tsunade advocates for medical-ninjas to be included in every team to increase the survival rate of each member and the mission.
This department and all of their divisions wear their own unique crest with the kanji for "medicine" or "healing" (医, ishi). This crest is the symbol of Konoha Hospital and the uniforms of the Medic Corps; these uniforms consist of white overalls for the doctors with hats and ear protectors, and skirts for the nurses, both with the crest in red on their backs.
After Naruto, the crest changes places, now adorning the left side of the uniform.

Naruto:
During the era of the Third and Fifth Hokage, the Medical Department was simply known as Medic Corps, and with the first fanbook, we learn that the Medic Corps are medical-ninja from Konoha Hospital; as well as being the only healthcare organization known at the time. In turn, Konoha Hospital is a building located not too far from the Hokage Residence in the center of the village. It was never specified who was running the hospital during this era.
The Medic Corps debuted in chapter 64 mentioned by Hiruzen when referring to Kabuto Yakushi. It was said that a jōnin of the Medic Corps had saved him (his adoptive mother Nonō Yakushi). However, they were seen for the first time two chapters later, when the hospital staff, the Medic Corps, took Sasuke Uchiha to heal his wounds.
(I want to add that the term medical-ninja did not exist around this time, so Hiruzen saying Nonō was a Medic Corps is a mistake in the continuity of the story; he would likely say medical-ninja if the term existed. The Medic Corps were later rewritten as those medical-ninja from Konoha Hospital.)
Tumblr media
Konoha Hospital before Pain's invasion.
As soon as Tsunade was introduced into the story and after her fight against Kabuto Yakushi, we learn about medical ninjutsu and that medical-ninjas are also those shinobi that learn healing techniques and are sent to teams to aid their comrades in battle. They use medical ninjutsu (医療忍術, Iryō-Ninjutsu), like the generic Mystical Palm Technique, to heal wounds.
Therefore, medical-ninjas are divided into two types:
Konoha Hospital’s Medic Corps medical ninja
Field medical ninja.
According to the first fanbook, the Medic Corps are those professional medical-ninjas that are fully dedicated to healing, developing medicine, researching diseases and performing ninjutsu focused on healing. In order to do that, they require very advanced chakra control, as well as extensive knowledge of herbs, medicines, the human body and even poisons to develop said medicines and antidotes.
They are also divided by ranks and skills, with the story revealing that not all Medic Corps are able to use healing techniques due to the high precision of chakra control they must possess. They also include nurses among the staff.
Tumblr media
The Medic Corps according to the first fanbook.
Meanwhile, field medical-ninjas vary in skill and knowledge. They range from just identifying the condition of a patient and using medical ninjutsu as a Chakra Transfer Technique, such as Ino Yamanaka; using healing techniques to aid in battle, like Rin Nohara; or being on par or superior in knowledge and skill as the Medic Corps like Sakura Haruno, Shizune, Tsunade and Kabuto Yakushi.
Sakura Haruno is an example of a field medical-ninja that also actively works in Konoha Hospital as a member of the Medic Corps. Shizune too.
Medical ninja must be the last member of their teams to perish, therefore, they must never join the battle, making them support-types. This however, does not apply to Sakura Haruno, Tsunade and Kabuto Yakushi, who use medical ninjutsu variants as fighting techniques. Medical-ninja are the most valuable members of their squad and it is a priority to protect them in battle.
Tumblr media
Yamato guarding Sakura Haruno, the only medical.ninja of the team.
I explain all about medical ninjutsu and medical ninjas here.
We can consider the Medic Corps and Konoha Hospital as the same organization, since the Medic Corps are exclusive to Konoha Hospital.
Based on some parts of the story, the Medic Corps send relief teams to special events such as the Chūnin Exams and treat patients in separate rooms outside Konoha Hospital. They also send other smaller groups of Medic Corps on smaller teams to retrieve patients. These teams are called Medical Teams (医療班, Iryō-Han).
Tumblr media
Medical Teams from the Medic Corps sent to participate in events or rescue patients. We also see the change of the uniform's design.
Specialized medical-ninja are needed in Konoha Hospital in case of emergency. Examples include Shizune, Sakura Haruno and Tsunade; the two latter kunoichis being fighters as well as a medical-ninja and boasting a jutsu that grant them regenerative abilities.
Medical-ninjas are pivotal in a shinobi village or when winning big battles, as they are the only people able to maintain a full village healthy and ready to keep fighting. The Medic Corps and Sakura Haruno had their hands full during Pain’s invasion, as well as Tsunade through Katsuyu, who was able to save everyone from Pain’s Shinra Tensei explosion.
The Logistical Support & Medical Division of the Allied Shinobi Forces was also the main target of the enemy, especially their most skilled medics, the jōnin rank medics. It was thanks to Sakura Haruno leaving the Third Division and joining the Medical Division that she could stop the White Zetsu. She also healed countless shinobi in the division; as well as healing hundreds of members of the Allied Shinobi Forces with Katsuyu in the midst of battle.
Tumblr media Tumblr media

Blank Period:
The next time the Medic Corps and Konoha Hospital appear is mainly Sakura Hiden, this novel including one of Konoha Hospital’s major medical developments; although there are mentions in other novels too:
Six months after Kaguya Ōtsutsuki was defeated, Sakura Haruno started preparations to create a Therapy Center, a mental health branch for children who are indirect victims of the shinobi world.
Two years later, Sakura Haruno successfully founded the first ever mental healthcare institution inside Konoha Hospital; and other villages like Sunagakure also followed her example. Indirectly, it is also revealed that Shizune is representing the Medic Corps and Konoha Hospital during this time.
According to the novel, she is the “Executive/Manager of the Medical Team” (医療班の幹部 Iryō-Han no kanbu) and sits with the other three top officials of the Konoha Council and the daimyō to discuss matters pertaining the village.
Tumblr media
Sakura Haruno opens the first mental Therapy Center in the world.
Boruto:
By the era of the Seventh Hokage, the Medic Corps rebranded, now called the Medical Department; their supervisor, Sakura Uchiha, now called “Head of the Medical Department” (医療部門の責任者, Iryō bumon no sekininsha), in contrast to Naruto’s non-existent hierarchical title. Overall, it has continued to function the same was as before, with the exception that it is now divided in two branches:
KONOHA HOSPITAL:
One of the most notable changes is the reconstruction of Konoha Hospital into a more modern building. The inside of the hospital looks much more modern and solid, in comparison to the building before Pain’s invasion, which had cracks everywhere (more noticeable in the manga).
The hospital in Boruto: Naruto the Movie and manga are more similar to the design in Naruto, while the anime changed the design to a more modern building.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Konoha Hospital in the anime and manga.
The hospital is directed by Sakura Uchiha, who also does some bureaucratic work from her own office. The building is also significantly more prepared than before, with various surgery rooms, intensive care, the off-screened therapy center, modernized patient rooms, labs and a classroom to train genin in medical ninjutsu.
So far, Konoha Hospital remains as the center of all healthcare in Konoha and the source of all medical knowledge of the village.
Tumblr media Tumblr media

The Medic Corps still wear their white uniform with the crest in the back, although they changed the helmet for a bandana with Konoha’s symbol in it. Other uniforms include a blue robe with matching pants for Sakura and Shizune.
Another notable change is the presence of more discernible medical staff among their ranks. The Medical Teams sent on specific missions now wear the standard chūnin vest with the medical crest on their backs; while medical relief can be seen wearing a red armband with the medical crest.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The different types of medical-ninja in emergencies.
In addition to the new staff, Konoha Hospital has also started to give individual classes to genin that wish to become future field medical-ninja.
According to Boruto Uzumaki and Mitsuki, the Ninja Academy imparts classes about medical ninjutsu, but not real training enough to become a battlefield healer. For genin, it is compulsory that at least one member of the team trains in medical ninjutsu.
These classes are imparted by the head of department herself. Sakura Uchiha trains Sarada Uchiha for Team 7 and Inojin Yamanaka for Team 10, among others. Although according to Mitsuki’s own character profile, he is the actual medical-ninja of Team 7, which means he must have also trained with Sakura.
Tumblr media Tumblr media

MEDICAL OFFICE:
Other than Konoha Hospital with its new branches, there is also a healthcare facility inside the Hokage Residence called Medical Office or Medical Department (医務室, Imu-shitsu), controlled by the Medical Department.
Inside it, some of the Medic Corps work in important cases that need the direct supervision of the Hokage. The room is also used to attend to other healthcare cases, like the Scientific Ninja Weapons fixing Kawaki’s artificial arm. Sakura Uchiha and other staff also wear a different uniform more similar to the coat the staff of the Logistical Support & Medical Division used to wear.
Inside the room there is a single bed and several medical and technological instruments, as well as cabinets and a sink. In the manga, the room resembles a normal hospital room.
Tumblr media
The Medical Office in the anime and manga.
Contrary to other teams that have been completely automated and made self sufficient, the Medical Department does not make use of the technology Konoha currently boasts of. Instead, they keep using shinobi for healthcare and medical ninjutsu, rather than adding machines.
Sakura Uchiha’s presence in Konoha Hospital to perform her medical duties is not unusual, and we always see her take care of patients in the village. Although it is not the same for Shizune, Sakura’s former mentor now assistant, Sakura Uchiha is always at the scene when anybody is in need of medical treatment.
Compared to the amount of times the Medic Corps appear and medical ninjutsu is used in Naruto, Ukyō Kodachi has drastically diminished the role of medical-ninja to the point of disappearance. In addition to that, the anime has demolished what it meant to train in medical ninjutsu; while it now takes a few hours to learn, it took the best medical ninja in the world 3 months to make advancements.
How does the Medical Department work and what is their role?
Gather professional medics in Konoha Hospital to heal people, study diseases, create medicines and develop healing ninjutsu.
Dispatch Medical Teams to special missions and include one field medical-ninja on teams for support.
Train future Medic Corps and medical-ninja.
DISCUSSION:
How important is the Medical Department?
The Medical Department has experienced a decrease of utility in Boruto compared to Naruto. However, being written out of the story does not equal being less important.
Unlike other teams, the Medical Department debuted fairly early into the story and it is considered as one of the major Konoha branches with ANBU and Shinobi Forces; it is the main and major support system of the village too. Some of the best examples include the Chūnin Exams when the Medic Corps heal the participants after a fight to continue training, or Pain’s invasion when Konoha citizens and shinobi were attacked by summons or in the midst of fighting the Paths.
The equivalent of the Medic Corps at the time of the battle against Madara and Obito Uchiha, the Logistical Support & Medical Division, was also the most important support system during the conflict. It is natural that the enemy would want to take down the source of energy of a platoon, but they were also pivotal in battle by pumping the Allied Shinobi Forces full of chakra to boost their own ninjutsu, as well as Sakura and Shizune performing the autopsy on White Zetsu to discover the uses of Hashirama Senju’s cells.
Tumblr media
Sakura Haruno of the Medical Division uses medical ninjutsu to power up ninjutsu. A medical-ninja from the Medical Division explains why they are essential.
The Medical Department is essential to secure a successful mission, be it by healing the members of the team, creating items such as poison and medical ointments to use in battle by non medics, healing shinobi after missions and also providing healthcare to the rest of citizens.
So far, almost every Konoha shinobi, and non-Konoha shinobi, has required medical care in the hospital and member of the Medic Corps: Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha, Kakashi Hatake, Chōji Akimichi, Neji Hyūga, Kiba Inuzuka, Rock Lee and Konoha civilians in Naruto, Ino Yamanaka, Kumogakure and Kirigakure shinobi and children in the Blank Period, Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha, Boruto Uzumaki, Kawaki and Hinata Hyūga in Boruto; as well as Karin, Hinata Hyūga, Kankurō, Naruto Uzumaki, Temari, Jiji and Granny Chiyo by Sakura Haruno as a Medic Corps on the battlefield.
Tumblr media
Some examples of treatment at Konoha Hospital.
The current problem of the Medical Department:
In Boruto, the Medical Department suffered a downgrade compared to previous appearances, although not in abilities or competency. Konoha Hospital has remained one of the most successful in terms of workforce, so far never needing anyone to step in for Sakura to perform healing or save a life, and not being relegated to an automated system either. The Medical Department still relies on humans rather than machines, very unlike the sensing system for example.
The downgrade is in relevance.
We used to see the Medic Corps, or, rather, Sakura Haruno, since more than half of the story happened outside Konoha; Sakura represented medicine and took on roles that went beyond simple healing. From elaborating antidotes for poison, creating medicines based on clan’s medical encyclopedias, using poison against enemies or using elaborate techniques other than the repetitive Mystical Palm Technique.
Tumblr media
Sakura Haruno creates an antidote. Tsunade creates prosthetic arms.
The role of a medic has been simplified, just using the basic healing technique by default, the Mystical Palm Technique, to heal anything they get their hands into, rather than identifying different pathologies and applying different methods for each; like Kankurō needing specific healing to remove poison, for example. Now, we see Sakura using the same jutsu on every patient.
There is no space for elaborate medicine crafting either, or, at least, do not let Sakura and her medical team do it. The concept of creating antidotes, poisons, artificial arms, studying body pathologies and using different ninjutsu has been given to Amado Sanzu and Katasuke Tōnō, rather than have Sakura, a poison expert, botanist, scientist and medic, do the job. It is a big aspect that has been taken away from the Medical Department.
Tumblr media
Sakura Haruno using the same jutsu in every patient.
The Medical Department in itself is not a failure, nor do their ranks fail at doing their job or need other people to step in for them. The failure comes with the writing quality in the sequel compared to Naruto, rather than the organization itself.
Could they be redeemed?
The Medical Department does not need to be redeemed or rewritten, the problem lies in how they are projected in the sequel.
Their functionality is perfect. They have the world's best medical-ninja as their leader, several members of the staff, a great emergency response and a board of teachers.
Some of the things they could do are:
Use more elaborated techniques rather than basic healing ninjutsu.
Make use of their botanists and poison experts, elaborate pills and other substances that are currently needed in plot.
There is no need to erase the Scientific Ninja Tools to make prosthetic arms, just allow them to collaborate with the Medical Department for better results and more possibilities.
Allow them to investigate seals and ninjutsu that are capable of regenerating, such as Kawaki's and Boruto's.
Considering Konoha is the most powerful shinobi village and Konoha Hospital has two of the top medical-ninja in the world, the usage of their staff leaves much to be desired in the script.

Oh i was just thinking since he technically doesn't have a last name
No, he technically doesn't have a last name (unless you consider "Kazekage" to be his last name, which PERSONALLY I strongly dislike).
Actually, did you know that Gaara did originally have a last name?
It was Fuuma!
Well...Technically the surname Fuuma was actually the name belonging to a character named Kotarou Fuuma who was the concept of who Gaara would eventually become.
Kishimoto was pretty committed to Fuuma, too, but his editor refuted it. This went back and forth until Kishimoto's editor suggested the name "Gaara", which Kishimoto liked the sound of.
Turns out, though, the editor was inspired by Gaara Yuzawa....A ski resort in Japan called GALA Yuzawa (the editor just suggested to use Kanji that meant "self loving demon" or "Gaara")
Pretty ironic that the character known for living in the desert was named after a snowy resort!
(So if you even see people refer to Gaara as Gaara Yuzawa...they may be giving him the surname from the resort that he's named after lol).

(Naruto ask) Have you ever google searched for either 卑劣様 or Hiretsu-sama ;) ?
I never did but now I have and I found this post as an answer to what is the meaning!
I shall quote:
卑劣様/Hiretsu-sama/Lord Dastardly-Ignoble.
This joke targets most of the time Tobirama Senju, it comes from chapter 525 : The Kages Revived.
There Mu, who has been resurrected by Edo Tensei, comments on the technique and calls it Wretched, Dastardly or Hiretsu/卑劣 in japanese.
Hiretsu : 【ひれつ】 (adj-na,n) mean, foul play, cowardly, base, (P)
Since that point, Tobirama has been nicknamed Hiretsu-sama or as I call him Lord Dastardly.
It came to a point where most of his techniques are renamed with Hiretsu in it, so instead or Hiraishin Giri or Flying Thunder God Slash, we have Hiretsu Giri : Dastardly Slash.
Another point where they had fun with this joke, is during Danzou's flashback. In this editm Tobirama refuses to be the decoy and says "囮役はもちろんオレ以外が行く" Or "The decoy, of course, will be anyone but me". And after, like in canon, his speech. He casually sends Hiruzen to die as the decoy when he says "あしたは貴様が囮だ" or "Tomorrow, you'll be the decoy" schocking everyone.
That's really interesting because as I now look on twitter it's such a common way to jokingly address Tobirama and it flew right over my head :D Thank you for tipping me off on that!!!
As I look now there are more jokes that I either realized that existed in JP fandom or had a feeling they were here (Hyuuga being the strongest is always amazing to laugh at while also I am always a bit sad Kishimoto's homophones/kanji plays and puns are never carried on to translations).

I'm really getting tired of seeing people say Studio Pierrot hated Sakura
When in reality they didnt't in fact she had alot of fans in the studio. Which is dangerous for people spreading missinformation about the people working at the studio.
I'm always seeing on twitter & other social pages. "SP hated sakura." "They wanted to make her look bad. "Why didn't they adapt the Sakura Hiden novel. "They favored Hinata more." "They add filler to Hinata's fight." "They sexuallized Hinata." " Hinata has more filler episodes."
Also, with Studio Pierrot, they love Sakura in fact they wanted Naruto & Sakura together. They tried really hard to pair her with the main character.
Kishimoto's translator:
Tumblr media
For Naruto & Naruto Shippuden
Filler aka not canon to the manga
You seen this in the Ova's, movies, openings and endings try to add fillers in cannon episodes I could post more but it'll be to long.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
They say that the studio goes out the way to try making Sakura look bad.
Anime did not change this manga part. (From a twiter translated by somewho knows kanji)
Tumblr media
Now for the changes the anime did.
Zabuza Arc:
A anime watcher even you know that she's right. Doesn't a matter of whether or not this version of Sasuke was stronger then Naruto, its a fact. Even if Sakura is doing it out of being a fangirl it’s doesn't matter(doubt it was suppose to be taken that way anyway). Kakashi stated that Sasuke was the number one rookie. How does this alter Sakura’s character?
She does it again later.
Tumblr media
Naruto saved her and Sasuke from Gaara, Sakura couldn’t even process that Naruto was the one that beat him and rescued them, she didn't have hopes on him, it was all Sasuke. How the did this change paints her in bad light when she was like this in canon.
Tumblr media
They sure do love to cut out certain momments of Sakura too
Exams arc & after Naruto vs Kakazu arc
Tumblr media
"They favored Hinata, In Hinata vs pain its basically all filler she got one-paneled!"
C'mon....like other characters in the show haven't gotten one paneled in the manga before.
The Studio add more fight scenes & changed certain things in the manga to benfit Sakura. Yet they act like Hinata vs Pain was the only one.
They did the same with Naruto vs. Sasuke, Kakashi vs. Hidan, Pain vs. Naruto, Obito vs. Kakashi and, of course , Sakura vs. Sasori
Tumblr media
Sakura & Chiyo vs Sasori manga:
Tumblr media
Studio Pierrot Anime filler fight:
Tumblr media
Kisimoto (canon) close combat fight
Team 7 Naruto, Sai & Sakura vs Karui & Omoi
they made her appear fast to take on loads of puppets. Then her speed reaction aganist Omoi appeared.
The whole point of her power is that she's a live tank and a powerful support. Speed has never really been her forte. She is still kage level despite that drawback
Tumblr media
We really see how her speed is in war arc to.
Naruto Anime filler: Manga:614
Tumblr media
Edit: Let's not forget the final fight between Naruto vs Sasuke said chapter 698
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Boruto Anime:
Sakura vs Shin filler...wait anime canon
Tumblr media
cool sequences in Naruto animated, it all filler
Naruto Gaiden manga: It has 10 chapters in total please just read it.
Sakura vs Shin manga finshed in one panel until Sasuke saves her with susanno chapter 9
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The studio also went out of their way to make something different that painted Sakura of a hero.
Tumblr media
anime she is blaming herself for not telling her daughter enough about Sasuke.Iin the manga canon she blames Sarada for wanting to know more about her father. Boruto Anime makes Sakura more sympathetic as she at admits she did something wrong.
Tumblr media
the studio went entirely out of their way to improve her character during the Shin arc and early Boruto
Tumblr media
Naruto Giaden/Boruto Manga (Left) Canon:
Sakura was never cheering for Sarada in the Exams
Shin outright beats Sakura with his knockoff Kamui
Sakura didn’t ignore Sasuke to go and hug Sarada, after the Shin confrontation she stood there while Sasuke gave Sarada a explantion of why they love each other
No fight against Shin, just a single panel of a frustrated Sakura hitting into nothing.
Boruto Anime (Right) Studio pierrot:
Adds scenes of Sakura being a supportive the Chunin exams.
Sakura only gets caught into Shin’s attack bc she was protecting Sarada.
Ignoring Sasuke and her first thoughts onto Sarada while hugging her
Amazing fight against Shin
Why does she have to hit Naruto so much in filler!?
Again, they’re just following the characteristic’s that is created for her. It’s canon that Sakura hits Naruto when he can be somewhat annoying. Naruto is 40% filler, were going see a bunch of scenes of Sakura hitting Naruto.
she not much different from her manga counterpart
" Studio Pierrot sexuallized Hinata." They had her dancing on the water like a stripper!" Hinata was in more fillers than Sakura!"
Yall are up in arms about Hinata centric episode training for a anime filler jutsu Protective 8 trigrams 64 Palms naked on the water because she didn't want to get her clothes wet while training ...smh.
Hinata appeared in 12 anime filler arcs and 5 anime filler movies she had was a minor character in most( most from Naruto then in shippuden). Sakura had appeared 15 anime arcs and 9 anime filler movies, she made major roles in them too.
We can all look this up put people choose not to.
Don't act like she is the only female character that had fanservice in the show.
I’m talking about a specific number of fans, only the misogynists who believe that the fanbase hate Sakura because she’s flat and favor Hinata because’s she has big breasts, wanting people to believe that they don’t care about boobs, feeling safe because Sakura’s boobs are “average size”, “Everyone who likes Sakura is obviously not a pervert and a good guy who doesn’t care about tits”.
used a bunch of fillers created by Studio Pierrot to prove that.
(Only Hinata to never Tsunade or any other female character with a big chest)
The majority of Hinata fans love her because she’s a pair of tities.
Studio Perriot
Tumblr media
I hate the hypocrisy.
Also studio
Tumblr media
somehow hate fanservice and the bias but also say that “Sakura is not flat, has curves, small boobs and a big butt, it’s just studio Pierrot fault and favor Hinata for fanservice” They say.
Tumblr media
These hypocrites are obsessed with tits and ass, they wouldn’t be trying hard to prove that Studio Pierrot messed with Sakura’s chest as if they really didn’t care about boobs
"They focus way to much on Hinata!"
It was one episode of Hinata about the novel Konoha Hiden... The plot split with other characters find a gift to attend the wedding (her wedding mind you) and she was worried. Didn't know having her appear in a episode about that was a bad thing.
I will never understand how a side character needs to be compaired to someone from the main cast.
"Studio Pierrot didn't adapt Sakura Hiden they hate her!"
They didn't adapt Kakashi, Gaara or atakuski hiden. alot novels including Sasuke Star pupil, Shikamaru Mouring clouds & half- adapted Naruto Parent & Child Day
Tumblr media
everyone nitpicks when comes to the anime. People love to pick & choose. Showing scenes Form a studio that likes to make most of her fights way better and likes to ships her with Naruto they really don't seem to hate her.
Note: this wasn't to provoke it was to show the hypocisy in how people say SP hated her & sexuallized/favored Hinata. Suppose to show how much the Studio loved & cared for her.
They have still do care for her juding by some of the addtional scenes in Sasuke Retsuden & Boruto.
Edit: And yes I did use some moments of this answer: he does throw jokes but to say he's a anti is wrong. He addreses the flaws of her character, her writing/ relationships within her team. Lots of people will joke & take screencaps out of context in Naruto this isn't anything new to any character or show

His wife was angry about naruhina because she wanted naruto to end up with sakura. He said he tried to lie to her and say that hinata was modeled after her to appease her but she didn't buy it. The interview where he talks about why sasusaku happened is a fake interview fans made up. In an interview after the ending he said sakura isn't the heroine because she's addicted to sasuke (the kanji used also implied in a toxic way). He said the reason hinata came to like naruto is clear but he deliberately didn't write out sakura's reason for loving sasuke because it would end up contrived. His interviews are always filled with contradictions when it comes to pairings so I never take him seriously 🥴 I genuinely think he just likes trolling
can you link me to the interviews in question if you have access to them, then? i’m having trouble finding primary sources— i saw a quote about sakura “not being a heroine” but it was in the context of naruto just not having one of those, and kishimoto considering side characters to generally be equal in status to each other (so sakura isn’t particularly more special then like, idk, rock lee).
ultimately i don’t think kishimoto put much thought into his endgame relationships! he just did what he wanted too in the moment— but like, nobody has ever put a gun to kishimotos head about it after he wrote one of the most successful shounen of all time.

Thank you so much for your answer! You are very nice! I haven’t been in the Naruto fandom in so long, but I have recently become obsessed with Neji lol. I saw some kind of arguments in support of NejiTen having been the original plan for canon, and I was wondering what you thought of them.
Nejiten shippers go on about symbolism between them including their zodiac signs being the best match, best blood type compatibility (apparently this is a big thing in Japan), their representation of a dragon and a phoenix (apparently the perfect couple for marriage in feng shui? But I think Tenten was only compared to a dragon in filler), kaiten being their names put together (even though Kai is a synonym for Neji and Tenten doesn’t spell her name with the same kanji as heaven), and Tenten being the sky because another definition for ‘Ten’ in Japanese is sky (not sure about the kanji or whatever) and Neji being the caged bird who longs for freedom to fly in the sky. They say that Neji never called her a failure, but he did with Naruto, Hinata, and Lee, so she is “special” to him. She only enabled his toxic fatalistic behavior though! I also saw them call Tenten yang and Neji yin, but it was shown in canon that Hinata is his yang instead.
Obviously, this doesn’t make up for lack of development…or no development at all, but I wonder if Kishimoto originally planned on pairing Tenten with Neji and changed his mind? Does he pick specific birthdays, symbolism, and blood types for them for pairings sake, or are the databooks questionable canon? Then again, I saw this amazing post about how Tenten was pretty much confirmed to be aroace the whole time...unless this is a retcon? It doesn’t seem like it to me though. Of course, I saw a NejiTen claim that the excerpt from Tenten is a mistranslation, but I don’t think so.
https://www.tumblr.com/theshinobiway/188908323030/do-you-see-tenten-as-ace
Some NejiTens use fillers for evidence, too…like the episode with Tenten’s dream and Neji saying that Tenten is the reason he is alive and he holds her. The episode is called “Where Tenten Belongs” and someone claims that she belongs in Neji’s arms. 🙄 At least with Rock Lee SD, it was made by one of Kishimoto’s assistants instead of random animators who don’t even know him. The characters act like themselves but are extremely exaggerated for the many comedic moments.
The anime team often makes the story inconsistent as well…especially regarding NaruHina. Thank you again for your in-depth answers. For some reason, I just feel like talking about this. About a decade ago, I used to make arguments together with other people against SasuSaku, so I kind of wanted to do it again but with a different pairing this time. I’m just so tired of not being able to avoid NejiTen wherever I go…NejiHina is much more appealing despite the fact that I don’t ship it romantically. I saw a post that claimed that it could’ve been the endgame because Neji had to die for NaruHina to happen…and it isn’t that farfetched. Anyway, I’m sorry to dump all of this onto you, but I just wanted to talk to someone about this. I hope you don’t mind…
Of course I don't mind talking, I enjoy talking about Naruto as a series and about several of its characters, but I don't specially talk about ships I don't like, and even though I have done it in the past I think is better now to focus on talking and creating for the ships I do like, so this answer might let you down, I'm sorry.
I had never read such arguments on favor of NejiTen, but as far as we all now Neji is canonically stated as Hinata's yin (which also gets in the way of the NaruHina yang-yang couple, so yes, I do believe NejiHina was planned to be end-game, or at least thought to at some point). About zodiac signs is curious, because as far as I now Neji and Hinata have the best complementary sign for each other, and they are born in summer (Neji) and winter (Hinata), so more complementary symbolism there.
Neji never called Tenten useless, but he wasn't interested on her at all even as teammates either though, and when he started to respect his teammates was for both Lee and Tenten after some time together. By the Chunin exams is true Neji is confident on Tenten's abilities but he is also on Lee's. And another important point is that Tenten never fought against Neji. Lee, Hinata and Naruto did, and then was when Neji called them losers, because he knew he was above them on terms of power.
I don't think Neji considered Hinata to be a real loser ever, only not enough to lead the clan and, apart from the obvious resentment he had because of his father's death, he also resented that she, that was not suited for it, would lead the clan and a genius like him had no chance at all. Neji resented the system, the clan, the rules. Not Hinata. Furthermore he tried to talk her into abandoning their match first, so he wouldn't hurt her. He adverted many times he would really hurt her if she continued but she did nevertheless. Neji didn't want to hurt her, not intrinsically at least. He did wanted to hurt her at the end not because it was Hinata or because he hated her, it was because he realised Hinata could read him as well as he could read her, and he didn't like it. It was because Hinata knew and understood what was inside him although he had built a wall to not let anyone in, it was because she got in. He reacted in that way to try to stop her talking aka to stop his pain of having to admit it. Then again, it was a reaction to her actions, not to her person.
Honestly I even consider that match during Chunin Exams pretty intense and significative for their relationship. They knew each other, they were always watching each other, they cared for each other, for good or for wrong. No one understood Neji as well as Hinata, not even his teammates (Tenten included). No one knew and understood as much about Hinata as Neji, definitely not Naruto. So yes, for me they were destined.
And having to kill Neji to bring NaruHina together... It not only enrages me but is also stupid plot wise. I think it was because NejiHina was, wether accidentally or not, very well developed for a secondary couple while NaruHina had no development at all. But these are assumptions though, only Kishimoto and his team know the truth.
Talking about symbolism I tried to analyse Hinata's dream during Tsukuyomi once and why it revealed her true feelings for Neji, if you are interested, but that's a thread on Twitter 😮‍💨.

ABOUT
💥DEIDARA'S NAME💥
⚠️ warning: spoilers for Naruto Shippuden, Deidara's arc.
⚠️ all that text is a ons huge theory, because I'm not master Masashi Kishimoto.
Of course, if you google some of character's names in NARUTO, you got one exact translation, because the name is am actual word in Japanese and could be written with kanji:
サクラ[sa-ku-ra] – Sakura's name literally means "cherry tree", but this word is written with katakana (syllabic alphabet/script for foreign words), not with kanji (characters, originally from Chinese script system). With kanji it'll look like 桜 and also reads as [sakura]. But for Japanese audience this name, which is written by katakana, remains it's meaning, because by context (the surname, which's written via kanji as many others character's surnames in naruto) people understand the meaning
いの[i-no] – Ino's name is written with hiragana (syllabic alphabet/script for Japanese words), and it literally means "wild boar". Kanji script – 猪 [inoshishi]. So, again, we have a word, but now it's written with hiragana, yet has a kanji origin.
So what's up with "Deidara" ? Well, if you google the meaning of his name, you'll got an answer from Reddit (I belive) about the origins. Some sources say it has descended from word "mud", some sources say from Japanese yokai – Daidarabotchi.
But I was wondering: "how did you got all those meanings if the name is written by katakana? It hasn't any obvious roots in that language, so how it was translated???
Firstly. In Japanese language (according to the history) the majority of kanjis were borrowed from Chinese language and soon were modified, somehow rebuilt. Thus, in Japanese language still exist 2 types of kanji's readings : onyomi ( for kanjis which reading/pronunciation Chinese) and kunyomi (the reading/pronunciation is Japanese). Therefore there exist some rules of reading particular characters, bit the most common one is: if the kanji is single, it's read in onyomi way, but if it's standing with other kanjis/kana it's read kunyomi way. (Also there are exceptions, but I won't dig deep into it now)
Returning to Deidara. His name is written like デイダラ[de-i-da-ra] and surprisingly means :" Mud". The actual kanji for this word is 泥[doro].
You see it? Where is the "deidara/dei" ? We have only "doro" here. In fact, 泥 kanji could be read as [doro] in kunyomi way, so in Japanese reading while the same 泥 could be read as [dei] in onyomi way, Chinese.
Tumblr media
See? [doro] is written with hiragana, while [dei] is written with katakana.
Okay, so "dei" part in Deidara's name might have been referred to "mud", but what about the another part of the name?
I have no idea what that "dara" could possibly mean, plus I consider it'll be rather nothing than anything so I'd like to move on to the second version of Deidara's name origin.
The Daidarabotchi version.
Daidarabotchi could be written both kanji and katakana: 大太郎坊 , ダイダラボッチ.
So, that means, we can translate it literally? Well, almost.
大太郎坊 – here i assume those kanji are not modified in Japanese way: the 大 kanji is Chinese and means "big" [dà], the 太 kanji is also from Chinese language, it has the "excessive" meaning ("too much/very) [dài/tài], 郎 kanji can have on/kun reading, means: "young man" [rou, ryoo/ otoko], and 坊 kanji is for Chinese word "square/lane" but in Japanese this kanji could mean: monk, boy/sonny and is pronunciated like [bō].
So this word has Chinese+Japanese roots, but it's written via katakana, so I'd say it's rather borrowed, than genuinely Japanese. (though where is the [tchi] from [da-i-da-ra-bo-tchi]? Well, guess that's the Japanese addition)
Anyways, the literal translation from those kanji "set" is: Too big man/boy. Sounds funny, isn't it? Thats why it'd be more convenient to call him just giant.
The Daidarabotchi, by the way, is a giant humanoid creature, who you'd must have mistaken for mountain range, because he's that big.
[The size of a Daidarabotchi was so great that his footprints were said to have created innumerable lakes and ponds. In one legend, a Daidarabotchi weighed Mount Fuji and Mount Tsukuba to see which was heavier, but he accidentally split Tsukuba's peak after he was finished with it.] – Wikipedia quote.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(U know, that giant creature from Princess Mononoke is also a Daidarabotchi! =D)
At this point I've got a theory why Deidara and Daidarabotchi could be connected:
When Deidara was fighting with Sasuke, he decided to create his biggest possible version for C4 attack and he became literally a GIANT
Tumblr media
And then when he exploded, there was a HUGE blast, for thousands of kms, I believe...
Tumblr media
Looks like Patrick lol
Well, that means Deidara had left his "footprint" there...
*************************************************
To sum up the possible origin of Deidara's name (imo) is a mixture of Mud kanji with onyomi reading + a legend about Daidarabotchi.
ダイダラボッチ[da-i-da-ra-bo-tchi]
デイ [de-i]
デイダラ [de-i-da-ra]
Hope it was useful!

What do you think of what this person said, also There is an interview that he distorted https://cakebake.tumblr.com/post/190996961185/i-still-do-not-understand-if-it-was-planned-from
The interviews are right, but what the person is saying doesn't properly take in consideration when they happend and the context. Like I explained previously the reason Kishimoto said he decided on NaruHina in the middle would have been cause he considered NaruSaku during the middle part of series, before finally deciding to stick to his original plan.
It is obvious that Kishimoto always intended for both NaruHina and SasuSaku from the early stages. NaruHina was obviously planned from the beginning, as where SasuSaku I say was planned from around the Forest of Death arc that was when the ship started truly getting some romance development. In part 1 there are clear NaruHina and SasuSaku moments that just make it obvious that Kishimoto was gunning for those ships.
For example one of the interviews is with the voice actors and they all said they already knew the couples endgame. Now what the writer doesn't take in account the time they were talking about and when the anime started. The manga was just about ending the Konoha Crush arc when the anime started. Also each voice actor is mostly speaks about their characters since Sasuke and Sakura are couple you can tell that the discussion focuses more on them since both voice actors are there as where Naruto's voice actor is on his own. Naruto's voice actors does confirm NaruHina was planned and that he got told about the ending during the first meeting, same with Sakura and Sasuke's confirmed SasuSaku as well.
Now what each of them says is true, but it is their subjective opinions and from what they remember plus they each talk mostly about the characters they play, hence why Sakura and Sasuke's voice actors don't talk about NaruHina cause Takeuchi Naruto's voice actor already confirmed the statement about NaruHina being planned since the anime started. Another thing to consider is if they were told that when they were together, for example Takeuchi could have been on about the first meeting she had with Kishimoto and not the team meeting.
All the interviews Kishimoto does not actually contradict himself as each interview has different context and expands on things. For example as I mentioned before the interview with the voice actors they are on about when the Naruto anime started which is in 2002 four years after the Naruto manga started. So the voice actors only know that NaruHina and SasuSaku were endgame when the anime started not when the manga started.
As where Kishimoto later confirms her planned NaruHina since the start of the manga as where he didn't have any real plans for Sakura when she was first introduce in the manga. This actually lines with how Kishimoto treats her in the manga at first you notice Sakura practically does nothing, it is only during the Forest of Death arc where she starts getting some spotlight and also when her relationship with Sasuke develops a bit and isn't as one sided as before. However in part 1 Sakura despite also being a member of team 7 still doesn't do much for the rest of part 1 and her most important scenes centre around Sasuke.
In fact all the interviews back up each other, the only one that is inconstant is the 2015 when he said he decided in the middle which I already explained.
As for the databooks, the first one isn't clear enough to properly read the kanji and while I compared it with the kanji for love and it doesn't resemble it I couldn't figure out what the kanji actually means since the image resolution isn't clear enough. However in databooks 1 and 2 you can make that 好む(Suki) which means like for Naruto and in the second databook Sakura also has 好むused for how she feels about Sasuke in the second databook. So I highly doubt the first databook says Sakura is in love with Sasuke consider it changes between the first and second databooks.
The third databook suffers from the same translation fault the anime had in that the English translated 好む as love not like. In Japanese it makes sense why Naruto didn't respond to Hinata's confession cause what she says can be taken as like and not love.

1, 6, 8, 13, 14, B, J 🧡🧡
i’ll be answering all these with sayato in mind!
1. What’s the maximum amount of time your character can sit still with nothing to do?
Not too long. Sayato doesn’t really like being left alone to his own thoughts so he needs something to distract him. Still though, he managed to learn how to use Sage Mode so it is something he can do if he puts his mind to it. Granted, he was more at peace when he was training then so if he hadn’t learned Sage Mode right when he did, he may not had been able to earlier/later.
6. Do they consider laws flexible, or immovable?
Flexible. Laws, rules, none of that matters to Sayato. Things like those can be bent and broken to suit his wants/needs.
8. What were they told to stop/start doing most often as a child
Either to stop goofing off in class, or to stop getting in fights with Shiori- and to be fair to him, a lot of those fights with Shiori weren’t his fault. Not that instructors really care about “who started it”.
13. What color do they think they look best in? Do they actually look best in that color?
As a kid, Sayato wore blue. When he got older he started wearing mostly black clothes with white accents. He thinks he looks best in black and personally, I’m inclined to agree. I’ve been contemplating adding in some green to his palette for New Era but I also feel like I used a lot of green with my Kusagakure OCs so I’m hesitant.
14. What animal do they fear most?
Sayato has a big affinity for rabbits. Not only is rabbit in the kanji of his name, but he can summon them, he learned Sage Mode from them and he lived amongst them for a good couple of months in between a bit prior to Orochimaru’s death and the start of the war. So part of me would be inclined to say predatory animals that would target them. I would imagine this includes snakes, considering how fucking terrifying dealing with Manda would be when they’d have to summon him, Orochimaru’s freakshow that is him transferring bodies, Kabuto’s threats of attacking the rabbits as a way to strongarm Sayato into helping him with the war... yeah. Snakes would top the list despite him finding snakes also kind of alluring? if that makes sense. He’s absolute clown shoes and would not survive in nature if he were an animal.
B) What inspired you to create them?
I originally made Sayato to pair with Orochimaru while I was still watching Naruto. No solid plan for him, in fact I just assumed at some point or another I would find a good place in the series for Orochimaru to backstab and end up killing him. He’s semi-self-insert-y, in the sense that I based his looks a little off of me as well as instilled a lot of my worse traits into him. He was my first OC I actually made for the series, although I did have a handful of adopts I didn’t quite know what I wanted to do with that were Naruto OCs (These ones being Ninge, Zera, and Masaki who originally I had planned on the three of them all being a team!)
J) Did you have to manipulate or exclude canon factors to allow them to create their character?
Manipulate? A bit, but that’s the case with pretty much all OCs put directly into a canon/canon-based timeline, isn’t it? But I tried relatively to stay within the boundaries of canon with regards to him. Like sure, he was involved with Kabuto in the war, but he fucked off when the Kabuto/Uchiha bros battle happened for example. Maybe his relationships with Orochimaru and Kabuto are a little OOC but again, I tried to stay within what I think would be possible for them. Excluding canon factors? As far as I’m aware, nope. I tried extensively to look at timelines and do my research just so I didn’t screw anything up (and MAN IT IS HARD GIVEN SOME OF THE INCONSISTENCIES KISHIMOTO HAS LOL).

I have question why does boruto character are better than og like say Sarada has more strength than Sakura
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Well, don't even get me started on those statistics because they're the worst I have seen.
It's not only that Sarada is apparently way stronger than Sakura because the latter has a very low number, it's that Boruto and Mitsuki are also depicted to be stronger than her. Even Shikamaru is described with a higher number than Sakura for goodness sake.
For starters, Kodachi is using 体力, which means "stamina; endurance; physical strength; resilience": The kanji 体 (body) which Kishimoto uses for taijutsu in his own statistics, and 力 (force; strength; might) which Kishimoto uses for strength in his own statistics. Here is how he depicts it in Japanese and English:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
According to Kodachi, a value of 90 is for genin and Sakura is a little above a genin. In my opinion, crazy considering that Sakura bases her power on strength and is stronger than Tsunade with a 5/5 in that area.
Also, by those same stats, Sakura has a hand-to-hand combat of 5 stars. It doesn't make sense to be a little above genin in strength and having perfect unarmed fighting (素手格闘) because it would require strength.
The only fighter that bases their power on strength. Why does she have her power as an adult completely reduced compared to their 15 year old self? Sakura had a statistic of 3 points in the third databook in strength (or power).
Tumblr media
Meanwhile Shikamaru was below her, and now he's magically is stronger than Sakura with 115 points.
Tumblr media
Sarada can't have such a big difference compared to the person she inherited such strength from.
Even the statistics have a picture of Sakura using her strength but they chose such a low number. Kodachi is setting Sakura up, also by completely ignoring her, but that's another tale.
Also, those statistics are so weird because not everybody has taijutsu, genjutsu or ninjutsu knowledge explained. It's like we have to guess if perception is related to genjutsu and dexterity is related to ninjutsu or taijutsu.
In conclusion: those statistics are so bad, so messy and the only thing I would believe from there is the intelligence, but I also got issues with some characters regarding those numbers.

Help I just realised gaara can't be vaccinated as needle punctures would technically be wounds... hope he doesnt catch a sneeze 💔
Thank you anon, for bringing a voice to my very thoughts.
I had always wondered....Can Gaara get a vaccine? Can he get an IV? Could he get stitches if he needed them?????!!!
I had a bit of a soft head canon that because it is Karura's will that is manipulating the sand, she would only protect him from wounds that were ill intentioned or accidental. I also feel that in very particular and ultra specific circumstances, perhaps Gaara himself can get passed the sand barrier.
For example, Gaara got passed his sand barrier in a fit of rage and anguish, such as when he carved the kanji into his forehead. Also, in part 1 he is shown wearing multiple earrings...Something that could be him trying to experience pain on his own by piercing himself, and to which his mom was probably like "Um...I was twelve once too so go ahead, I guess."
As for medical procedures, I don't think Karura's will would get in the way. For example, if Gaara needed surgery, stitches, an IV or even a vaccine I'm certain his mother would feel the intention behind the "harm" and just let it be, as in that instance the "wound" would be for his own good.
Or maybe Gaara is just lucky and won't ever have to face such "pain to gain" situations.
This would actually be a good question for Kishimoto because it's a pretty interesting topic....
Also to go off on another tangent...
I think Gaara actually knew what pain felt like, even before Sasuke (or Lee) injured him.
For example, developing muscles hurts, getting knocked down hurts, losing baby teeth hurts, sometimes even just living causes you to ache or feel slight pains. You aren't injured by any means, but you do still feel pain.
I think Gaara knew what pain felt like (including the pain in his heart), but because there was so much superstition around his sand barrier, perhaps the people around him misinformed him about what pain actually was.
Perhaps Gaara knew he could feel internal pain (tooth ache, muscle pain, upset stomach) but he discredited it as not being "pain" because he thought he couldn't be injured like everyone else.
Since he was raised in isolation, I could see how someone like Gaara may not draw correlations between how someone else may feel similar to him, especially when he's constantly reminded about how different he is from everyone else. Thus Gaara may not experience internal pain as "pain" but "strong discomfort."
This then built into part of his ego, and is the main reason he was so obsessed with fighting and eliminating Sasuke, because Gaara felt that only Sasuke was strong enough to diminish this reputation, and if Gaara would've killed him he would have confirmed his own strength and "existence."
