I see more new people arriving in my hometown over the past couple of years. I don't know if its tourists, new people moving in or a combination of both.
I'm leaning towards it being a combination since people have been fleeing Honolulu and Waikiki to go to the West side and the Windward side for being relatively cheaper during the pandemic. Also, people flee Kailua to come to Kaneohe because it's cheaper and Kailua is basically just air bnb's nowadays. We had a business from Kailua to Kaneohe due to cheaper rent.
That and we do get tourists here and relatives of military families visiting here. We have a marine corps base near my town hence the mention of military families.
