is it true that when greeks say afternoon they mean like, 7pm? i guess it makes sense w the sleep schedule but please verify

Kiiind of! It's more apt to say that "good afternoon" and "good evening" is combined into one saying, because everything after noon falls under "kalispera" while before that it's "kalimera" (good morning). So it's not really about the sleep schedules, it's just less specific than separating afternoon and evening greetings. But there's still kalinihta (good night) which, like in English, is used to say bye! ^_^

#spelling it nihta and not nixta because ppl in english often get confused about the pronunciation. bc xi is an h not an x lol
