What is really bothering me about the situation about Russia blowing up Kakhovska HPP on the Dnipro River, is people claiming that they "refuse to listen to propaganda", and saying Ukraine did it themselves...
Whilst overall its good to look around for different sources. You also have think about potential benefits/motives a side would have from doing this.
The damage to Ukraine is horrific, and is by no means going to be easy to fix in the future. The ecological damage might be even permanent. Not only have lives, and homes been lost, but huge areas of farmland. Soldiers can't fight on empty stomach BTW, so this just doesn't seem like a good tactical decision to do to your own land.
This is before we even talk about how it might even trigger problems at a nuclear power plant.
For what, they get to point fingers at Russia? This does not seem like a good cost verses benefits. A little international anger for this level of damage?? It seems unlikely.

Chronology of russian lies and purposeful preparation of the russian federation to undermine the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station:
On March 10, russia recognizes WWF as a foreign agent
On May 19, they will recognize Greenpeace as an undesirable organization
On May 30, a decree is issued on a moratorium on the investigation of man-made disasters in the occupied Ukrainian territories related specifically to water
June 3, russia blocks Greenpeace website
On June 6, russian federation undermines the dams of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station
Russia carried out mining of the dam on June 5 - directly on World Environment Day

Kherson, 09.06.23.
Maria Leontievna is 84 years old. She caught WW II as a child, now the russian occupiers forced her to experience the tragedy in a new way.
She was left with nothing.

My homeland is drowning
On June 6th r*ssian army blew up Kakhovska HPP in Ukraine after it being mined by them since autumn. It’s not only another russia’s terroristic crime against humanity - it’s a global catastrophe, one of the biggest ecological and humanitarian disasters in the east of Europe. The consequences can be compared with the explosion of the nuclear bomb. It’s still hard to believe that my people have to go through of this, civilians specifically on the east have been bombed, occupied, stolen from, had to spent months without electricity and now a flood made them lose their homes. This is so damn unfair and my heart hurts for them every day, these people have been through too much pain and evil already. My relatives house was also flooded, just month since russia killed their daughter on Easter. And not only people suffer, a lot of animals and pets died because of the flood, a lot of cultural heritage - destroyed. And that’s only the beginning of the problem. The consequences to ecology are huge and horrifying, some of them we don’t even acknowledge yet.
It honestly drives me crazy to see people who actually easy swallow russian propaganda and think Ukraine did it with its own citizens, while Ukrainian officials literally YELLED that russians mined Kakhovska HPP since freaking november. While russians keep ignoring the danger telling that everything is okay but meanwhile shelling people who try to evacuate. While the whole zoo of 300 animals was flooded, caused terrible death to all of them, but russian media just said that “there was no zoo in Nova Kakhovka”. This is beyond evil and I have no idea how there’re people who still didn’t understand it. Their military came to our land destroying everything, killing people and animals without a thought, they blew up the dam because they were afraid Ukrainian army will kick them out, without caring about civilians or ecology. Well, why should they care, they can’t even care about their own people, their nature. Freaking monsters.
I beg you please share the info about what happened, tell the world that russia did it, this is the only way to justice, they have to pay for all the pain of Ukrainian people. Currently russian propaganda works fast and tries to hide the facts, but the dam was under russian occupation since last year, and mined by them for more than half of the year. The world has to see who did all of this and make them to pay.
Here’s the full info about the consequences of this disaster
Help us spread the word!

Yesterday, the Russians blew up the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station. This caused a large-scale disaster on many levels, from the death of people and animals in flooded villages to ecocide for decades to come.
And what do I see? As some allow themselves to say that it may not be the russians because the "russian" side was flooded by more. So do you know what:
THERE IS NO RUSSIAN SIDE IN THE KHERSON REGION.
Both Dnipro coasts are Ukrainian. Civil Ukrainians live on both. Both have Ukrainian nature. Ukrainian grain grows on both. On both, _everything_ is Ukrainian. russians are the only occupiers there, and occupiers who dream of seeing us dead.
Right now they are sitting and watching people die in Oleshki, which will probably be completely flooded. Although no, they don't just sit and watch. RUSSIANS SHOOTING AT UKRAINIAN CIVILIANS WHO ARE TRYING TO EVACUATE. Ordinary Ukrainian people who are trying to escape from the flood that the russians arranged.
And at the same time, those "good" "anti-Putin" russians on all platforms are promoting the narrative that the hydroelectric power plant broke down on its own, and maybe the Ukrainians blew it up, but certainly not the russians. They try with all their effort to make us shut up, victim-blame Ukrainians who shout about tragedy and genocide, and simply draw attention to russians. Because for them it is never time to talk about victims. Because they also _love_ russia and _hate_ Ukraine and the fact that Ukrainians dare to continue fighting with the russian death machine.
Because every Russian is guilty.
Now also in the largest human-made disaster in recent decades.
Please donate to Ukrainian fonds who try to survive people and animals from the flood. And donete for Ukrainian army.

Anyway if it was Ukraine that blew the bam, why is it Russia that is shelling the evacuation efforts and isn't allowing people from the occupied part of the region to leave? What kind of gotcha do you have there, fuckers?

Putin's destruction of the Kakhovska dam in Ukraine adds to the climate emergency. Too much coverage of it ignores the environmental aspects of this act of desperation.
Overall, Russia's invasion of Ukraine is not just a genocidal act of aggression by an imperialist power headed by an unbalanced dictator. The invasion is an ongoing act of environmental war against Planet Earth.
The destruction of the Kakhovska dam has caused massive damage, flooding homes and habitats, killing animals, plants and insects en masse. It has contaminated water, washed away landmines and other explosive weapons, and posed a new threat to the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. So far, evidence points strongly in favour of an explosion. The flooding has also impacted protected areas that are part of the transnational Emerald Network, including several national nature parks: Velykyi Luh (which remains illegally occupied by Russia), Kam’ianska Sich and Nyzhniodniprovskyi. This will severely damage biodiversity in Ukraine and contribute to the sixth mass extinction of species globally.
Ecocide is not yet an established part of international law. But it is part of Ukrainian law.
The Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court does not list ecocide as an international crime, but it is part of Ukraine’s criminal code – and Ukraine can set an international precedent by holding Russia accountable for environmental harm.
We need to speak out more about the environmental calamity of Putin's invasion.
Environmental organisations globally must take urgent action in support of Ukraine and against Russian colonial violence. It is not enough to just lobby against fossil fuel extraction; we must recognise that the end of Russian imperialism is key to the struggle for climate justice. Ukrainian environmental activists have spoken about the increase in CO2 emissions caused by the Russian invasion. If climate emergency initiatives only remember Ukraine in relation to the global food crisis and crop shortages (the destruction of the Kakhovska dam has further damaged the country’s agricultural sector) or the impact the war has had on the global fossil fuel economy, but remain silent and inactive when Ukrainians are killed by flooding and shelling, they are complicit in Russia’s invasion.
While there's not yet a specific international law on ecocide, there are currently some aspects of the law which could hold Putin and his henchmen accountable for several acts which have affected the environment.
Here is Article 56 (Sections 1 & 2) of Protocol I of 1977 to the Geneva Conventions 1949.

Clearly the destruction of the dam at Kakhovka is covered. So is the vandalism, theft, and destruction at the site of the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear disaster. Though it's likely that some of the Russian occupiers who camped out at Chernobyl last year may have already died of radiation sickness. Yes, Moscow has had a hand in Europe's two worst environmental disasters of the past 40 years.
Although the culprits may currently be inaccessible, there's plenty of evidence to launch investigations prior to prosecution. Putin and his accomplices must never again be able to live normal lives.

Дуже хуйово. As you know, the left bank of the Kherson oblast' affected by the flooding is under the control of russian occupiers, who don't allow any rescue missions and prevent us from even evaluating the scale of the destruction. Well, the word of mouth says they didn't do shit to help the people in the flooded villages and now there are HUNDREDS OF CORPSES drifting in the stillwater.
I feel sick. This is the most transparent example of genocide I can remember in my lifetime, and it is being literally translated online. The forced neutrality in the statements of some certain magazines and organisations is nothing but intentional complacency. Don't even get me started on the friends of kremlin. For their sakes, I hope hell exists.
