House-museum of Polina Rayko in Oleshky, Ukraine. She started painting her house at the age of 69 after deaths of her daughter and husband, and son's imprisonment. Polina Rayko died in 2004. Her home was a national cultural monument of Ukraine and a tourist attraction. House was destroyed in June 2023 by flooding following the destruction of the Kakhovka Dam by russians.

This is so funny.

When the westerners see a post complaining of russophobia they imagine a young queer intellectual stuck in russia, hating the regime to the core and being all bleeding heart for the suffering Ukrainians.

Meanwhile, the same very person complaining of russophobia in one post boasts about literal war trophies brought from the occupied Ukrainian territories by their war criminal father in another, fills their artworks with modern russian military symbols, and tags the posts about their relatives participating in invasion with 'lol memes'.

It is honestly funny how much goodwill russians are still given for absolutely nothing while Ukrainians have to constantly prove that we deserve, well, to at least not be massacred.

The Executed Renaissance was a literary and artistic generation of the 1920s and early 1930s in Ukraine that was exterminated by the soviet government. Prominent contemporary writer Viktoriia Amelina once said: "My worst fear is coming true: I'm inside the new Executed Renaissance". She was later killed by russian missile in 2023.

Ukrainian art was scrutinized and destroyed by russia, artists were persecuted and murdered for being Ukrainians, our language was forbidden many times. Our culture is still being appropriated by russia (many "russian" artists you know are actually not russian at all, they're from countries colonized by russia), our artists are still being murdered, Ukrainian books are being burned by occupiers in occupied territory, paintings are being stolen, they mock and tell us that our culture is subpar, yet they do everything to erase it from existence. Today's shelling of Boichuk Academy of Decorative and Applied Arts and Design in Kyiv is just one example from centuries of opression.

I won't even start with the fact that only a year ago, Russian rockets destroyed part of the sports complex of my university, where many sports were practiced. Despite this, some Russian athletes, even those connected to the Russian army, are allowed to participate in world sports competitions. So sit down for two minutes and imagine that all your memories, all your life are mercilessly destroyed by shelling, and every time you reach out to donate to Russian artists or order a commission, remind yourself that you have paid for death and destruction
