Hey all! Sorry I haven’t been posting much--this is my last semester at SJSU and I’ve been busy working on a short film with my friends! I’m super pumped to share this teaser trailer with you all! Concept

A short film about a young Japanese woman’s journey at breaking away from societal norms, inspired by a famous poem by Matsuo Basho.

Kaeru — meaning frog or ’to return’ — is a story that follows Kokoro’s pursuit in finding freedom.  Bounded by the restrictiveness of Japanese society, she hesitates to make the decision of leaving the country to be with her lover. A guardian in the form of a frog watches over her, and gives the nudge that Kokoro needs.

Hi tumblr! Long time no see. The thesis short I directed in 2019, “Kaeru” is now available to view on YT and Vimeo! I’m still not actively posting on this account but I know a lot of people who followed me on here supported the film in its Kickstarter days, so wanted to post a bit of an update. This film is a culmination of my own journey with self-doubt, as well as my lovely friends and crew who worked on it. I hope that watching it reminds you of the childhood joy and creativity that made you want to pursue art in whatever form!
