It all started when they met in college, the University of Oregon. Y/n, a sports journalism major, and Justin, a science major on the football team. A match made in heaven, one would say. Their classes did not overlap a lot, but Y/n was assigned to cover the football team. It was only natural for the two to spark something.
They began hanging out outside of the games and practices during the summer of their junior year and became official at the end of the football season. The two decided to keep it between themselves because the last thing they needed was people making comments about the quarterback and a journalist being together.
Fast forward a few years, Justin is doing well with the LA Chargers and Y/n has established themself with CBS. Y/n was the lead journalist when it came to the LA Chargers, and they were always reporting on Sundays. Their relationship remained strong, and no one other than their respective families and closest friends knew of the two.
Even though they were on the down low, everyone could see that Justin had a soft spot for Y/n in conferences. No matter the outcome of the game, Justin would smile and give very detailed responses. Heck, he would even banter back and forth with them!
One game in particular, Y/n could not attend. Y/n was visiting family, so they asked one of their newer reporters to fill their space. The game was pretty good for the LA Chargers and Justin with him throwing three touchdowns and running one in himself. Despite being at their parents’ house, Y/n turned on the post-game conference just as Justin came on the stage. All of the journalists were congratulating Justin and asking game-related questions until it got to one reporter.
“Perla with CBS,” she started, Y/n immediately recognized the voice as their coworker who filled in for them. “I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but my colleague, Y/n, is not here today.”
“No, I noticed,” Justin chuckled. “They’re at every game and every press conference, so it’s nice to see them taking a break.”
“Many people, myself included, have noticed that you two seem to have a stronger bond than just reporter and player,” Perla scoffed. Immediately, Y/n could sense where the question was going, and so could Justin. “Is there anything happening behind the scenes between you two?”
“That has nothing to do with the game, and frankly, it’s none of your business,” Justin answered monotonously.
“I mean, it’s obvious to everyone that Y/n doesn’t have the proper experience to have this job, so it’s clear that they’re doing some ‘behind the scenes’ favors,” Perla continued, completely disregarding Justin’s first answer and obvious distaste for the question.
“First off, don’t ever talk down on someone like Y/n who is higher up than you,” Justin started off, glaring at Perla through the crowd. “Second, if we were in a relationship, how would I have any say in their job? I have no personal connection to CBS, and I just don’t have that power. Lastly, if you’re going to keep talking shit, you can leave, and we’ll make sure that CBS knows how you aren’t actually working within your role. I don’t think your boss would appreciate that his sports reporter is poking her nose around in topics that don’t deal with sports, right?”
“Are you threatening me?” Perla gasped, surrounding reporters were eating it up. Justin was known for being quiet and reserved, so seeing him lash back was a one in a million shot.
“It’s not a threat, it’s a promise,” Justin replied. “Slander against Y/n will not be tolerated, especially when I know that they specifically chose you for this gig because they believed in you.”
After the conference, Justin called Y/n on his way home.
“Thank you for standing up for me, J,” Y/n greeted almost immediately after answering the phone. “People need to learn to stay in their own lane.”
“I’ll always defend you,” Justin laughed. “We do need to talk to your boss about that, though. That was unacceptable.”
“I really thought Perla was just misunderstood,” Y/n replied sadly. “Turns out she’s just out for drama.”
“If people are going to keep asking about it,” Justin started, “how would you feel about us announcing us? We could be private but not secret, and I’ll make sure to add that we’ve been together since junior year.”
“If I get to help choose the pictures and the caption, I think it would be best,” Y/n admitted. “Plus, you kind of already outed us during the conference when you said ‘we’ will make sure that CBS knows.”
“For fucks sake,” Justin chuckled in disbelief. “I tried so hard to keep it hidden.”
“Well, now we don’t need to,” Y/n comforted. “Remember, private but not secret from now on.”
The next game day came faster than either were prepared for. Both shared two pictures to their Instagrams with the caption, “Five years and counting.” One of them was taken during the off-season, and the other was of the two sitting on the couch with Justin’s broken leg and Y/n dressed up as a nurse from junior year. The posts gained a lot of traction, but it was now in the open. Neither wanted to change that.
After the game and another win for the LA Chargers, there was, of course, another conference. This time, Y/n was back in their place.
“Y/n with CBS,” they smiled as Justin looked their way. “First off, congratulations on announcing your relationship. You two look very happy together.”
“Thanks,” Justin laughed at the brief teasing. "We've been through a lot together. Couldn't see myself without them, honestly."
“That's cute, but I would rather talk about that last play though,” Y/n quickly got on topic. “A 69-yard throw to Keenan Allen for the game-winning touchdown. With this win, you helped secure your place at the top of your division and a place in the playoff. Tell me, does your arm hurt with these long throws?”

Minor Ear-Mergency

“Are you sure you don’t want to change out of your pjs? You can wear your gameday outfit, I know it’s your favorite.”
The toddler in front of you shakes her head, “no thank you. I want to wear this for the game.”
You shrug, grabbing the black ‘Bolt Up’ lightning rod shirt and blue pants with the #10 iron-on patches on the side. Remi wore these clothes every Sunday…without fail. So today’s answer was a rare occasion to put it lightly, but you didn’t want to push her first thing in the morning so you let her do whatever felt right. You even opted to stay in your pajamas as well, in solidarity of course.
The next time you gave her a funny look was when she barely ate her cheesy eggs and complained of having a headache an hour later. By the time the two of you sat on the couch for kickoff at 1:25 pm California time, she was half asleep. One of her arms was wrapped around you, as best as she could with your belly in the way, while the other one was securely holding on to her stuffed animal.
Even though she barely knew what was going on, she loved watching her dad on tv so you knew something was off. Your continuous suspicions were confirmed with one simple act of placing your hand on her forehead and checking her temperature.
“My ear is hurting me,” her pitiful cries and groans of pain have you on the phone with the pediatrician at the start of the fourth quarter. She gave you little home remedies to try and scheduled Remi for an 11 o’clock appointment the next morning. You could practically hear Justin in your ear lightly scolding you for not having an extra bottle of children’s Motrin in the house, but the universe was secretly on your side because the one in your hand was just enough for a few full servings. Long after the medicine should have kicked in your daughter still had fresh tears rolling down her cheeks, sniffling like she was trying to bite down the sadness.
“Oh sweets, is your ear still bothering you?”
She gently shakes her head no, scared to make any sudden movements in case that would make the pain return. “I need daddy but he’s not here,” she whimpers, leaning on your arm and practically using your sleeve as a tissue.
“I know baby. But he’ll be back tonight and you’ll see him as soon as you wake up,” you sigh, knowing that isn’t what she wants to hear. Feeling like it was your duty as a mom to come up with a solution, you sat there for a minute, running your fingers through her hair until it hit you. “I have an idea,” she stares back at you, her eyes a little wide with anticipation, “I’ll be right back. You stay here.”
Desperate times call for desperate measures.
Remi allowed you to be out of her sight long enough to throw one of Justin’s shirts in the dryer for her to rest her head on, smiling to yourself when she let you know that she still missed her daddy, but this was good enough until she got to see him in the morning. Adding another baby to the chaos was a daunting idea in moments like this where although you loved your husband and this life that the two of you had built, you were alone…a lot. You had to think on your feet alone, a lot. And of course he did everything in his power to be an active parent and husband when he was home but that didn’t change the fact that right now you had a sick child to take care of and he was on the other side of the country getting chased by grown men in tights. That thought had you chuckling to yourself, thinking about two extremes, drowning Remi’s tears and snot or praying that the offensive line would keep him upright for the better part of three hours.
Justin came home later that evening, leaving his shoes by the door and tiptoeing around the house. When you texted him before the flight home that Remi wasn’t feeling well there was a pit in his stomach at the fact that he wasn’t there. He knew you could handle it but that didn’t take away his feeling of being a terrible partner. There is always an upside and a downside to things, especially being a working parent who’s job is more demanding than the average person and you never made him feel bad about it or tried to use it against him. But his mind sometimes allowed him to think of the worst case scenario. He never wanted to miss any moment, not with you and definitely not with Remi and even the little things like an earache made him want to drop everything and fly home. As soon as he passed by the living room to head upstairs, he caught a glimpse of a view that made all the doubt and negative thoughts leave his mind.
There you two were, sprawled out on the couch covered in blankets. NFL network was still on in the background as Remi was curled up into a ball with her mouth slightly open, as close to your body as humanly possible. And even in deep sleep, you held onto her. Justin smiled to himself, taking a mental image as a reminder of how worth it this all is, no matter the sacrifice. He’d rather compromise with you, create this life with you and have a life outside of football than the alternative because this? The view in front of him? That was everything.
And he needed to put a stop to it immediately.
He slowly walks over to the couch, scooping Remi up in his arms and she doesn’t even bother to open her eyes, securing her arms around his neck and sleeping peacefully like nothing happened. As soon as her weight is gone from your orbit you begin to stir, rubbing your eyes in an attempt to wake yourself up.
“Hey there sleepyhead,” he whispers, “let’s go upstairs and get some sleep. The couch isn’t good for your back.”
You yawn, sitting up and already feeling the tightness in your muscles thanks to the increased weight in your front. Justin holds a hand out for you to grab so you can stand up and the three of you head up to your bedroom for some much needed rest.
A mild ear infection. That’s what the pediatrician told you this morning and that she should be fine completely recovered within the week, which was honestly the best case scenario. You texted Justin the news and he let you know that his Monday lift and meetings were done and he’d be home for the rest of the day.
“Can I have lava for lunch please?” Remi asks innocently, holding Justin’s hand. She hadn’t let him out of her sight since she walked in the door and found him standing in the kitchen. He couldn’t even go to the bathroom without her standing on the other side of the door.
“Lava?” He mouths at you.
“Tomato soup,” you laugh. “While you feed her I’m gonna head to the store real fast and grab more medicine and a couple other things we might need.” Moments like this didn’t come often, so you had to take advantage of this toddler-free opportunity and get some stuff done before Justin had to go to practice later this week. You headed out quietly, greatly enjoying the sight of Thing One and Thing Two having an intense conversation.
“Oh daddy. Can I have some Gatorade too please?”
Justin narrows his eyes, ready to bargain with the toddler. “How about this, you finish your lava and I’ll give you a little bit of Gatorade. Deal?”
“Otay, I try.”
Less than halfway into her bowl of soup, Remi said she was done. “Are you sure you don’t want to finish it? No lunch means no Gatorade.” He tried coaxing her into taking a few more bites but she just wasn’t having it.
Remi sighs, her cheeks getting a rosy tint that he didn’t like. “Too tired to eat, can I hold you?”
“Of course you can hold me, come here.” He presses his lips to the top of her head, her warm clammy skin letting him know that it’s time for more medicine. Since he couldn’t let her go without some sort of meltdown, he just used one hand to pour the Motrin into a tiny cup and had her drink it.
“That was yucky,” she whines, her voice having a sleepy croak to it. “Can you take a nap with me, pretty please?”
He laughs lightly, peering down at her as he walks to her room. “When you ask so nicely with a sweet face like that, how can I say no?”
With his long legs hanging off the bed, he placed the blanket over her as she nestled herself in the crook of his body. “Daddy?”
Her eyes were closed so he wasn’t sure if she was still awake until she spoke again. “Thank you for staying with me. Yesterday, I missed you but now you’re here and I’m so happy. I miss you when you leave.”
“Do you get sad when I’m gone?” He wasn’t sure he was ready to hear her answer, but he knew he needed the truth. Even though the simple thought of making her sad had him biting back tears.
Remi opens her eyes, her matching green orbs staring into his before she smiles and shakes her head. “Yes. For two minutes I cry but you always come back!” She holds out three fingers to show him and he chuckles, helping her out one finger down. “And you get touchdowns on tv and me and mama high five. I like touchdowns and I like the Chargers. So I not sad daddy, I get happy when you win. Sometimes you lose…but I still love you.”
As hard as he tries, he can’t contain the laughter at his daughter’s football analysis. But she was right, she loved him win or lose and he had to remember that when the guilt set in. “I love you more mini,” he gives her a squeeze, “and I’m always going to come back home, every touchdown is for you and for mama.”
“And baby brother?”
“Of course! Baby brother too.”
She seems satisfied with that answer, closing her eyes again and cozying further into his chest, her steady breaths letting him know she was quickly dozing off.
With her body resting against his chest, he lets out a breath he hadn’t even realized he was holding since he got home almost 24 hours earlier. Even something as minor as a tiny ear infection worried him. “I’m right here honey, daddy’s not going anywhere.” He was mostly saying that for himself but it still felt good to admit there’s nowhere else he’d rather be.
The next day when he came home from the facility, he was happy to find Remi getting back to her usual self. “What are you two doing?”
“Making nana bread with…matella.”
“It’s Nutella sweets,” you correct her with a soft laugh.
Remi giggles, “Nu-tella, the best chocolate.”
“That sounds amazing bub,” Justin smiles, giving each of you a kiss on the cheek. Remi immediately drops what she’s doing to give him a hug. “I’m so glad you’re feeling better.”
She gives him a kiss on the cheek in return, “nana bread and daddy at home make me feel lots better.” Remi practically hops out of the man’s arms to go grab her cup of water from the living room.
“She said banana bread before me,” Justin murmurs. “Is that saying something?”
Placing the bread pan in the oven, you laugh softly. “Unfortunately, I think it says everything. I’m so sorry you had to find out this way.”
“Eh it’s fine. You didn’t even make her top two.”

Justin as a Dad... (Part I)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summary: headcanon list of Justin as a new father from pregnancy to birth Pairing(s): Justin Herbert x fem!reader Warning(s): mentions of pregnancy, mentions of childbirth, mentions of sex, swearing, etc.
Disclaimer: the following written work comprises "real person fanfiction" (RPF); any characters mentioned are entirely fictional or fictionalised versions of real people. Any dialogue, circumstance, and/or any other trait of this work that bears semblance to reality is coincidence.
[masterlist]
Tumblr media
- Justin would be so excited to hear you're pregnant
- "are you serious?" "you're joking with me, right?"
- when you hand him the pregnancy test, he just stares at it with a soft little smile
- his smile would grow until he was beaming with joy as the realisation sinks in that, no, you're not joking, you really are pregnant
- he'd wrap you in his massive arms and give you the biggest bear hug
- he'd definitely get emotional and maybe even tear up, but would try to hide it by burying his face in your hair
- his voice would be all choked up when he tells you that he's so happy and that he loves you, clearing his throat to try and compose himself
- he would be so excited to tell all of your family and friends, but would definitely wait until you were both ready to make the news known however
- he would get so emotional when telling his mum and dad that they were going to be grandparents omg
- big hugs from his parents as they congratulate both of you on the happy news
- he would be so protective of you and your baby's privacy and wellbeing
- everyone would be under strict instructions not to advertise the pregnancy unless both of you were ready to make the news public
- he'd legit be furious if the news somehow broke on social media or in some article without his or your consent
- would probably speak in code to not reveal the news to anyone outside your trusted circle
- "taking our cat to the vet" = going to the doctor's with you lmao
- would sometimes forget that you're pregnant in the very stages until something reminds him that he's going to be a dad
- seeing a baby in a stroller in the supermarket? "Oh yeah, I'm gonna be a dad". Cute baby shoes at the Nike store? "I'm gonna be a dad!"
- would feel awful for you during the morning sickness phase
- he'd get up no matter the time to comfort you, hold your hair back, get you a glass of water, or whatever else you needed in that moment
- grabbing you food at the store on his way back from the facility or getting food delivered randomly when you have a sudden craving for taco bell
- he'd understand that being pregnant isn't a disability and that you could still do things for yourself, but he'd still kinda treat you like you were made of glass lol
- "I got it" would become his catchphrase and he'd use it whenever he saw you trying to do anything that involved bending, reaching...or moving lol
- Justin: "I got it!" You: "Justin, I can get myself a glass of water just fine 😅"
- he'd be in his Acts of Service element, taking care of you as best as he could
- he'd know that pregnancy is a big change for you, so would be as patient and as understanding as possible if you were experiencing mood swings
- however...don't expect him to be a pushover and bend to every whim or allow unreasonable behaviour just bc of pregnancy-induced hormones
- Justin: "babe, I get that you're pregnant and that you're going through a lot right now, but I'm doing my best"
- he'd still expect you to be his partner and that you could face the challenges of pregnancy together
- on a more happy note, this man would have his hands all over the bump when you start to show
- tbh he'd have his hands all over you fullstop
- he'd let you know every opportunity he got how sexy he thought you were, even if you didn't feel that way about yourself
- You: "I look like a beached whale...". Justin: "You look so fucking good..."
- back hugs with his arms around you, his hands on the bump, to show you the changes to your body don't detract from your beauty, only add to it
- the pregnancy sex would be so fire omfg
- he'd be so gentle and let you command the pace until you were crying out for him to pound you and oh boy would he oblige
- probably some of the best sex you ever had tbh bc he'd be trying so fucking hard to make you feel good
- he'd love any hormonal feral horniness from you too and would be practically running home to you after practice lmfao
- would be so fucking excited when you felt the first little kick
- would probably make kicker or punter jokes about the baby
- would probably come up with cute little nicknames for the baby, like "peanut" or "shrimp"
- would sneak daddy-and-bump time in the early morning before leaving for practice whilst you were asleep
- speaking to the bump, gently laying a warm hand on your belly to feel the baby kick in response
- he'd really treasure those quiet moments where he could connect with his child before the birth
- would be proactive in preparations for the baby
- helping you buy and build furniture for the baby's nursery, no matter how tired and bruised he was from football
- he'd help you organise and make an inventory of everything you could ever possibly need
- he'd have a birthing bag packed and by the door very early on (and probably a spare in the car, y'know, just in case)
- big gender reveals aren't his thing but he'd be ok with a small gathering and a more tame reveal idea, like a cake with a coloured filling, etc.
- kinda think he'd like the surprise and wouldn't mind not knowing the gender before the baby was born
- he'd be more than happy for you to have a baby shower if it was something you wanted tho
- he'd be a bit wary of any social media attention and probably would prefer if photos of the occasion were kept off social media however...
- as long as you had both talked and agreed on if/when you would go public with the news, he'd be fine with it
- would desperately want to be at all of your scans and antenatal classes and would make as much effort as possible to be there
- he'd work late some days so he could take time off to attend "baby stuff" with you; this man would not want to miss a single milestone
- he'd especially love going to scans bc he'd get to see his child, hear their strong heartbeat, and it would all feel a bit more real to him
- this nerd would be paying so much attention in antenatal classes omfg he'd practically be a TA again
- ...being real, football would definitely factor into the birth plan; you and Justin would have to decide on a plan of action for every possible outcome
- if you were due during the season, you'd have to be prepared to be induced during a bye week or between games
- he'd also arrange for someone you trust to be with you in his absence if something happened and you went into labour when he wasn't there
- if you did go into labour whilst he was at a game, I don't think he'd leave until the game was over ngl
- but he'd be stressed as balls not to be at your side
- you can bet your ass he would be running out of the stadium the moment the game ended (still in his cleats and uniform probably) to a waiting car or a private jet on standby so he could hightail it back to you
- anxious facetiming with you the entire way home, checking to make sure you were ok
- Justin's all about being prepared so he'd plan for every situation imaginable to avoid that tho
- he would absolutely want to be there to support you and welcome your baby into the world
- he'd want to be there to rub your back, hold you up when you needed to stand or lean on something, get you hot or cold compresses...
- whatever you needed he'd want to be the one doing it for you
- during labour, he'd truly hate to see you in pain and would probably feel a little impotent
- for a man so used to being prepared and being in control, seeing you in pain and not really being able to help would absolutely cut him to his core
- the one thing he would be able to do was be the ultimate hype man when it came time to deliver your baby
- he'd speak words of encouragement to you like he was cheering on teammates from the sideline
- "you got this!" "you're almost there!" "you're doing awesome, babe, keep pushing!"
- he'd let you grip his hand so hard, he'd hold up your legs to help you push, he'd kiss your sweaty forehead and stroke your damp hair back from your face...
- literally anything to comfort you as you worked to bring your baby into the world
- would absolutely cry with joy when your baby was finally born and bundled up against your naked chest
- he'd be so damn proud of you and amazed by what you just accomplished
- would kiss you full on the lips and would put every ounce of love that he was feeling at that moment into it
- he'd just be so fixated on the blissful serenity of you and the baby, kissing you sweetly and placing his hand and yours on your baby's damp little head
- the chaos, pain, and anxiety of the moment, the buzz of the medical team working around you would be nonexistent to him in that moment
- he'd be so eager to hold your little baby boy or baby girl, but also slightly terrified by how tiny and vulnerable they seemed
- would spend forever just staring at them, marvelling at how you had both created something so utterly perfect
- he'd run a finger down their little button nose and count their tiny toes over and over, just to make sure they were all still there
- pure elation the moment those teeny fingers, with fingernails as small as a grain of rice, wrapped around one of his fingers
- this man is sentimental, so if your baby were a boy, I honestly think that he would love to honour his late Papa Schwab by naming his son for him
- and he would melt with love for you if you were the one to suggest the idea
- post-birth acts of service would include helping you up out of the bed, helping you wash yourself, changing the baby when you need rest, helping you with breastfeeding, etc.
- he'd encourage you to sleep for two reasons: 1) bc he loves you and you need the rest 2) bc it means time with the baby for himself
- would hold them, rock them, speak to them about literally anything and everything, maybe sing quietly (and badly probably lol) to them
- he'd especially love to do skin-to-skin with them and just have his baby bundled up against his bare chest, feeling their warmth and listening to their little grunts and squeaks
- would facetime family and probably get a bit emotional again but would do his best to keep it together lol
- watching him dress the baby for leaving the hospital would honestly be so cute and hilarious
- he'd be so damn gentle and cautious like he was defusing a bomb or something lmfao
- "just gonna move your arm over here, buddy" "sorry princess, daddy's gotta put your socks on" "jeez, when did clothes become so complicated?!"
- defensive driving the entire way home from the hospital bc he's got the most precious cargo in the back seat rn
- Justin: "doesn't anyone know how to drive anymore?!" You: "Justin, it's LA, no one knows how to drive"
- he'd be so excited to have friends and family to visit and introduce them to your baby bc he'd be so damn proud to show everyone what you ✨ made ✨
- but he'd want to make sure you were both settled first and adjusting to being new parents
- he'd have so much fun telling visiting family and friends about how amazing you were and teasing you affectionately
- Justin: "she was awesome, you should've seen her..." "could use her on my o-line!"
- as tired and as nervous as he'd be at times being a new dad, he'd be so happy to be home with you and your baby, both happy and healthy
- as someone who seems to be pretty family-oriented, he'd just love to be together with you as a newly expanded family of three, ready to face whatever parenthood threw your way...

7. “You got frosting on your face” with justin herbert please?! thank you!
Baking was one of your favorite things about the Christmas season. Every year your home always smelled like warm cookies and you usually switched out your mug of coffee for a warm mug of hot chocolate. However, Justin couldn’t bake to save his life, and usually just joined in towards the end when it was time to frost the cookies and build the gingerbread houses.
There was one problem, though.
You couldn’t trust him near any of the baked goods. The first year you moved in together, the last year of college, was the year you realized that your boyfriend was an absolute menace around warm homemade treats.
As you padded into the kitchen to check to see if the sugar cookies you had made earlier were cooled down enough for you to start decorating you saw Justin standing next to the counter. You couldn’t see what he was doing but you could guess.
“Back away from the cookies,” you said, trying to sound authoritative but when he turned away with the look of a kid who just got caught with his hand in the cookie jar, you had to bite back the giggle that wanted to bubble up.
“I was only trying to help,” he raised his hands in defense as he backed away sheepishly.
You looked him over for any crumbs and then to the cookie sheet to count. So far all of the cookies remained but that didn’t mean it would stay that way for long.
“If you want to help,” you turned to him only to find him eyeing up the treats again, “go and grab the frosting I put in the fridge.”
With a quick nod, he did as you instructed and you had almost finished frosting the cookies until you noticed something amiss.
“Justin, what’s that on your face?”
“Hmm?” He hummed but tilted his head away from you.
You couldn’t help but giggle quietly as you grabbed his face in your hand. He didn’t pull away and even leaned down so you could see his face properly. His cheeks were tinted pink and his lips were slightly quirked. He knew he had been caught.
“You didn’t eat any of the cookies, I counted them to make sure,” you brushed some of the frosting away but you swore he must have eaten it by shoving his face in the bowl because it was all over his lips and cheeks. “Did you eat the frosting I made?”
Justin frowned and tried to look offended but the mischief was clear in his eyes. “I’m helping you decorate your cookies and you’re going to accuse me of sneaking food?”
There was no hiding the smile that was spreading on your face. “Honey, you got frosting on your face.”
Justin let his mask fall and he laughed at you catching him. You dropped your hand from his face as his arm snaked around your waist to pull you in closer.
“Well, I’m noticing a severe lack of frosting on your face,” his smile was filled with trouble and you tried to squirm away half-heartedly but you couldn’t get away before he leaned down and kissed you messily, leaving frosting behind on your face as well.

Playing at night
warnings: +18, oral sex, pre-consent activity.
You were nervous because you have never done this before. But you were excited too, so you woke up early than him, adjusting your eyes to the dark, and saw him sleeping on his side. Insecure of what to do, you grabbed his shoulder to roll him over his back. Slowly, you lifted the sheets, he moved a little bit but stay asleep. You left out a relieved sigh, a continue with the briefs. Carefully you took his cock out of the underwear, it was warm and soft. You looked at him, still sleeping peacefully and you felt so nervous and excited. You wanted to wake him up with the best oral he ever received. You got on your knees, and give him a few pumps, after that you put him in your mouth completely and you sucked you starting to feel how his cock started twitching and growing inside your mouth, you loved the sensation.
You heard him moan, still asleep. You took the head, swirling your tongue around the pink tip, in the sensitive spot. He jerked up his hips, he kept moaning softly and it was like music for you ears, you were so turned on at that point you wanted it to wake him up so he could fuck you senseless. You put your left hand around his shaft and started pumping while your mouth was still working on the tip. His legs moved, and the next thing you heard was a deep and sleepy groan of pleasure. When you looked up, blue eyes were staring at you, the sleepiness fading away being replaced by surprised, then a lustful gaze.
"Fuck, baby" he groaned, coming to his senses. "Yes, oh my God" You were so happy to had him like this, at your mercy. Your tongue ran from the tip to the bottom, he was frowning, completely focus on your work. "Take it all" he whispered, his voice in the morning was five times deeper, it was so hot. "Yes, just like that . You look so pretty" he continued. He didn't last so long after that, he came in your mouth with a grunt, you swallowed and show him your tongue."Good girl" he praised. He reached for you, so you could cuddle. "I didn't expect it" he said after a few moments in silence."You say you wanted to try this" you remind him. The only condition was not to do it during the season or closer to it because he didn't wanna mess with his sleeping hours."Yeah.."
"Did you like it?"
"I loved it"You laughed, pleased with yourself. "Next time I want to fuck you, alright?" he said.
"You can do it now" you suggested. He gave you The Look. Serious, but full of lust, like he was ready to punish you at any moment. "Alright" he said, pushing you onto the mattress, a knee between your legs. You started giggling, nervously.
I'm going to do this more often.

justin herbert winning superbowl and proposes to y/n on the field
Tumblr media
author's note; oh ABSOLUTELY anon u ate with this idea!!! singlehandedly bringing me out of my writing slump summary; the superbowl was supposed to be justin herberts biggest win of the day- but he can't help himself from making it just a little better. word count; 5k warnings; mention of underage drinking, nsfw joke Lol! unedited characters; Reader x Justin Herbert
There was no world in which you weren't shaking with nerves and anticipation. You had grown up watching the Super Bowl on television. You had honestly never really paid it much mind unless your local team had made it through, and even then it was usually your teenage excuse to have a few friends round and sneak a few drinks. In the past couple of years, however, football had become integrated into your life in the form of a 6'6, 236 lbs sweetheart. When you and Justin had begun dating, the idea of it lasting had been far from your mind. You complained incessantly to your girlfriends about his schedule. "He's always busy!" You had whinged to them, far from dramatic. He always had practice or a game or team bonding. Finding a time he could carve out for you was hard. But damn, did he try. And it worked. Three years later, you looked forward to the familiar thump of his football bag hitting the floor on a Sunday to alert you to his arrival. After a win, he'd come to find you with a grin on his face and wild eyes, usually peppering you with kisses. A loss, however, meant he immediately took a solemn shower and put all that gentle giant weight on you to lie in your arms and soak in your affection. This year had been filled with wins. After two losses at the start of the season, the team managed to turn the tide and keep a strong string of games going. The result was enough to put them head-to-head against the Kansas City Chiefs in this year's Super Bowl.
And the Nevada heat was not helping you stay calm. You half wanted to peel your Herbert jersey off and stand in a refrigerator until the game was over. You were nervous for all sorts of reasons. Firstly, you wanted Justin to win. Secondly, you wanted Justin to get through the game without getting injured. The injury to his ribs last year, he liked to joke, had scared you more than it had hurt him. You would be happy with any result as long as he left the field in one piece.
So far, it was a close game. 21-31 in the fourth quarter, with the Chiefs leading. You couldn't figure out how you felt. You were bursting at the seams with pride as is, but you were desperate for Justin to win what he had been working towards for so long. Justin had played an incredible game so far. You and his family kept repeating so to each other, like a mantra that he would continue doing so. You wanted nothing more than to see them win this game, even if watching was growing more difficult with each passing second. Mitch and Patrick, his two brothers, watched standing up. They either perched, staring and analyzing the game in a way only a football player could, or paced whatever stretch of ground they could, discussing their conclusions. "He's doing great," Holly said, not really aiming the words at anyone. Your hands were clasped in hers, and you gave her a squeeze. The sweet moment was interrupted by Patrick's yelp. Your gaze snapped back to the field, and Holly let go of your hands as both of you stood up. There was a wide opening, where Keenan Allen was waiting. Justin's snap made it to him, and Allen set into the most determined run you had ever seen. He dodged defense, with help from Chargers players doing their best to block them from his path. And then- "Touchdown by Keenan Allen! The Chargers are beginning to close the very small gap between them and the Chiefs!" The announcer called. You and the Herbert family erupted in glee (as you had with every previous point.)
With just under a minute now left in the last quarter, 28-30 was beginning to seem like it would be the final score. Both sides were not letting anything or anyone pass. You could practically feel the tension radiating from the players. No one had sat down since Keenan's touchdown. The electricity in the box was too much for anyone to stay stationary. Your hands were clasped, pressed to your lips as you watched your boyfriend set up. He got the ball, pulled back, and paused. "Go!" Mitch yelled like Justin could hear him. And then, like he could, Justin started running. They had set up close enough, he could make it- you could see he was going to make it. You had never heard louder yells than in the second Justin made it to the endzone. The clock after that ticked down painfully slowly. But second after second, the Chiefs were unable to score any points that would put them back in the lead.
Then the game ended, and the Los Angeles Chargers had officially won the 2024 Super Bowl. You were right behind the Herberts as the four of them rushed out of the box and down to the field, Patrick dragging you next to him with a handful of your shirt. "Slow down!" You laughed at him. "You're dating a Super Bowl winner, there's no slowing down now!" He exclaimed back at you. You felt the warm flush of giddiness and pride. Justin was a Super Bowl winner. Your boyfriend. Your lovely boyfriend. When you made it down, the field and sidelines were already flooded with family and friends. A sea of red and blue. You were sure the pure, unadulterated joy radiating off of you was salt in the wound for the Chiefs players, but the moment you locked eyes with your boyfriend you didn't care. In a surge of energy, you raced towards him, your large smile somehow growing even bigger. When you reached him, you didn't even care that he reeked or that his pads were wet with sweat. He picked you up on impact and twirled you around. "You won," you told him. When he put you down, he kissed you quickly but passionately. "I'm so proud of you, babe." You said. "I love you." "I love you too." He said, smiling down at you. That damned height. His family caught up, hugging him and crying and showering him with love and congratulations. Once their excitement had faded a little, Justin wrapped an arm around you and pulled you into his side. He pressed his lips into your hair and mumbled something. "What?" You asked, pulling away. "Marry me." He said clearly this time. You froze. His eyebrows lifted as he waited for your answer, a shit-eating grin uncurling on his face. You couldn't think of what to say except for "What?" "Marry me." He repeated. His words sounded so sure, and the way he was looking at you- You reached up a hand and grabbed the front of his pads to pull him down to kiss you. This time not short, but definitely just as passionate. "Yes," You told him against his lips, "Of course I will." "Woah! Slow it down on the PDA, Justin." His dad laughed. Justin pulled away from you. "Sorry, dad." He apologized, "Just excited." "Don't let the Super Bowl get to your head," Mitch joked, reaching up to slap his little brother lightly on the back of the head. "It's not just that," Justin began, "I just kind of.." he scratched the back of his neck, unsure how to explain it. He looked to you for help. "I think we just got engaged?" You said, not breaking your gaze away from his. Holly let out a yelp of excitement, but Patrick beat it by a mile. "I call best man!" He yelled without missing a beat. From near you, Sebastian's head turned. "What did I just hear about a best man?" He asked. Justin rolled his eyes and groaned like the question annoyed him. Underneath it all, he was bursting with the anticipation of telling everyone. He had been pondering when to ask for months. There was a ring in the drawer of his bedside table that had been waiting for him to finally propose. But of course, he had to choose the spontaneous moment that felt right. He wished you had a ring to show off to the boys, but instead, he just had to tell them, "We're engaged!" The team exploded with cheers and congratulations, all still riding the high of the win. Still under his arm, you looked up at your now-fiancee with a sly grin. "Go shower and get changed. You and I are in for a very fun night." You told him under your breath. His eyes widened and his eyebrows raised in a cheeky expression. "You're on," He retorted, beginning to walk away. "But don't forget baby, I'm a Super Bowl winner! It'll be a fun month." You ignored the curious glances his family and teammates gave you at his comment and tried to hide your bright red cheeks.

You Came Over Just To See My Cat? ✧ (Justin Herbert)
Prompt 50. “You came over just to see my cat?”
CW: Fluff, Kissing
WC: 2047
A/N: didn’t mean for this to get so long i got a little carried away, i hope you enjoy!
It had been a long day at work, filled with endless meetings and tight deadlines. As I finally stepped through the door of my small apartment, all I wanted was to unwind and relax. But then, out of nowhere, a thought struck me - I missed Nova, Justin's adorable Bengal cat. Without another moment’s hesitation, I grabbed my keys and headed straight to Justin’s house.
I knocked on his door and waited for a response. After a few moments of me standing there, the door swung open, revealing Justin standing there with a quizzical expression on his face. "Y/N, what are you doing here?" he asked, raising an eyebrow. “I came over to see your cat," I replied with a mischievous grin. Justin chuckled. "You came over just to see my cat?" “Of course i did! Look at her," I said, gesturing towards Nova who had just appeared at the door, rubbing against my legs.
"She does seem pretty smitten with you," Justin remarked, a hint of mock jealousy in his tone. "I told you she likes me more," I said triumphantly, scooping up Nova into my arms and giving her a few affectionate scratches behind her ears.
"I can't argue with that," Justin conceded, stepping aside to let me in. "Come on in. I think she's been moping around the house ever since you last visited."
The warmth of Justin's home enveloped me as I stepped inside. Nova immediately made herself comfortable on my lap, purring contentedly. Justin led me to the living room, where we settled onto the couch and caught up on each other's lives. "So, how's work?" Justin asked, leaning back against the cushions. "Oh, you know, the usual chaos," I replied with a wry smile. "But enough about that. Tell me about your latest football adventures."
Justin launched into a series of hilarious anecdotes about his teammates and the ups and downs of the season. His eyes sparkled with excitement as he recounted the thrilling victories and the nail-biting matches. Time seemed to fly by as we laughed and chatted, with Nova nestled between us, occasionally swatting at Justin's fingers playfully. It was moments like these that made me grateful for our friendship and the easy camaraderie we shared.
Out of nowhere, Nova jumped off my lap and dashed out of the room, her tail held high. Justin and I exchanged a puzzled glance before we heard a loud meow, coming from the kitchen. "What the hell?" Justin muttered, getting up from the couch with me following close behind. We found Nova perched on the counter, batting at a vase that teetered precariously on the edge. "Nova, no!" I exclaimed, rushing over to scoop her up before disaster struck. She wriggled in my arms, protesting against being removed from her newfound plaything. "I swear, she's more trouble than she's worth sometimes," Justin said with a chuckle, shaking his head. "Oh, hush, you love her and you know it," I teased, giving Nova a gentle scolding before setting her back on the floor.
As I turned around, I caught Justin watching me with a soft look in his eyes. It was a look I had seen countless times before, but this time it lingered, making my heart flutter inexplicably. "What?" I asked, feeling slightly self-conscious under his gaze. "Nothing," Justin said with a small smile. "It's just nice to have you here." "I wouldn't miss it for the world," I replied, the words slipping out before I could stop them. I mentally kicked myself for the slip, but Justin's smile only widened.
We returned to the living room and settled back onto the couch, the comfortable silence wrapping around us like a warm blanket. Outside, the sky darkened and the first stars began to twinkle into view.
"Remember that time we went stargazing?" Justin suddenly said, breaking the quiet. “How could I forget?" I laughed, the memory coming back in a rush. "We ended up getting lost on our way back, and you were convinced we were going to stumble upon Bigfoot." Justin chuckled. "In my defense, it was dark, and the woods were pretty spooky.” “sure, blame it on the spooky woods," I teased, nudging his shoulder playfully. Our laughter filled the room, light and carefree. It was moments like these that made the world seem a little brighter, a little kinder.
As the evening deepened, Justin fetched a few snacks from the kitchen, and we indulged in a mini feast, trading stories and inside jokes. Suddenly, the doorbell rang, shattering the cozy atmosphere that had settled over us. Justin frowned, glancing at the clock. "Who could that be at this hour?" “I'll go check," Justin said, getting up from the couch. Standing on the doorstep was one of Justin's teammates, Keenan, looking a little out of breath.
"Hey, sorry to bother you, man, but the coach needs to discuss the game plan with you. It's urgent," he said, between breaths. Justin's expression turned serious. "Alright, I'll head out now." "I can wait for you to get back," I said, reaching for my coat. Justin shook his head. "No, it'll probably take a while. You can head home. I'll see you tomorrow?" "Yeah, of course," I replied, attempting to hide the disappointment in my voice. "Good luck with the meeting."
Justin walked me to the door, giving me a quick but sincere hug. "Thanks for coming over. Nova always brightens up when you're around." "Any time," I said, managing to put on a small smile. "Take care, okay?" With a final wave, I stepped out into the chilly night and made my way back to my apartment.
But no matter how much I tried to shake it off, a sense of unease lingered in the pit of my stomach. The next day, I couldn't shake off the feeling that something was bothering Justin. He seemed distracted and preoccupied during our conversations, and even Nova's antics failed to bring his usual cheerfulness back.
"Is everything alright?" I ventured, as we sat in the cozy comfort of his living room. Justin hesitated for a moment, as if weighing his words. "I'm just really anxious about the upcoming game. It's a crucial match, and I can't afford any slip-ups." "I understand," I said, reaching out to give his hand a reassuring squeeze. "You've got this, and I'll be there cheering you on the entire time." Justin gave me a grateful smile, and for a moment, the heaviness in his eyes lifted.
As the days passed, Justin threw himself into rigorous training, leaving little time for anything else. I tried to be there for him as much as I could, providing encouragement and a listening ear whenever he needed it. Finally, the day of the game arrived, and the stadium buzzed with anticipation. I sat in the stands, my heart pounding with nervous energy as I watched Justin lead his team onto the field. The game was intense, with both teams locked in a fierce battle for victory. Every touchdown, every interception sent the crowd into a frenzy, and I could feel the tension mounting with each passing minute. In the final moments of the game, Justin found himself with the ball in his hands, the fate of the match resting on his shoulders. The air crackled with expectation as he surveyed the field, searching for an opening.
Luckily, he spotted an opportunity, and with a determined gleam in his eyes, he launched into action. The stadium erupted into cheers as he flew across the field, dodging defenders with effortless grace. And then, with a powerful throw, the ball soared through the air, landing squarely in the waiting hands of his teammate, who sprinted towards the end zone, securing the winning touchdown.
The roar of the crowd was deafening as the final whistle blew, signaling the chargers victory. On the field, Justin was embraced by his teammates, his face beaming with joy and relief. As the crowd began to disperse, I made my way down to the field, eager to congratulate Justin on the hard-earned win.
He spotted me from a distance and made his way through the throng of well-wishers, a radiant smile lighting up his features. "Y/N, I can't believe we did it!" Justin exclaimed, enveloping me in a bear hug. "You were amazing out there," I said, pulling back to look at his beaming face. "It's all thanks to your support," Justin said earnestly. "I couldn't have done it without you by my side." I laughed, feeling a spark of pride. "I told you I'd be there cheering you on. I'm just glad it all paid off."
As we made our way out of the stadium, the air was alive with jubilant energy. Justin's teammates clapped him on the back and offered their congratulations, and I couldn't help but feel a swell of affection for the camaraderie that bound them together. We headed back to Justin's house, where a small celebration was underway.
His teammates and a few close friends had gathered to toast their victory, and the sound of laughter and clinking glasses filled the air. Nova weaved her way through the crowd, basking in the attention and occasional ear scratch from the guests. Justin and I found ourselves caught up in the revelry, exchanging stories and reliving the most thrilling moments of the game. As the evening wore on, the guests began to filter out, leaving only a few close friends behind.
Justin and I found ourselves in the quiet of the living room, the remnants of the celebration scattered around us. “I can't thank you enough for being here today," Justin said, his expression earnest. "I wouldn't have missed it for anything," I replied, giving his shoulder a friendly nudge. "You're my lucky charm, you know that?" Justin said, a twinkle in his eye. "I think I need you at all my games from now on." I laughed. "Well, if it means witnessing more victories like today, then I'm definitely up for the challenge."
Justin leaned back against the couch, a thoughtful look flitting across his features. "I've been meaning to ask you something." “What is it?" I ventured, suddenly feeling a flutter of nerves in my stomach. "Well, with everything that's been happening, I've been doing a lot of thinking," Justin began, his gaze fixed on mine. "Thinking about what?" I prompted, my heart pounding in my chest. "About us," Justin said, his voice steady.
"I know I've been caught up in football and everything, but I've realized that having you by my side makes everything better. You're my best friend, Y/N, and so much more." I felt my breath catch in my throat, my mind reeling with the weight of his words. "Justin, what are you saying?" "I'm saying that I love you, Y/N," Justin said, his eyes searching mine. "I want to be more than just friends. I want to be with you, if you'll have me." My heart swelled with a mix of joy and disbelief. I had never dared to hope for more, but here was Justin, laying his feelings bare before me. "I love you too, Justin," I whispered, feeling tears prick at the corners of my eyes. "I've always loved you." And then, without another word, Justin leaned in and pressed his lips to mine in a gentle, tender kiss. It felt like the world around us faded away, leaving only the warmth of his embrace and the promise of a future together.
From that day on, Justin and I went through the ups and downs of life together, hand in hand. Our love only grew stronger with each passing day, and Nova remained a steadfast presence, ensuring that our days were filled with laughter, joy, and the kind of love that lasts a lifetime. And as I looked back on the events that had brought us to this moment, I couldn't help but feel gratitude for a certain Bengal cat who had unwittingly played matchmaker, bringing Justin and me together in the most unexpected way imaginable. As the days turned into weeks, and the weeks into months, Justin, Nova, and I found ourselves woven into the tapestry of each other’s lives, and i wouldn’t want it any other way.
I hope you enjoyed reading! Thank you to the anon who requested this. (I had a draft for this but it disappeared so I had to rewrite it, sorry for the delay!)

Justin Herbert
76. “Hands off”
19. "I saw that. You just checked out my ass."
After being at camp for the past 30 days, Justin was more than happy to be home with you in Oregon to help pack up your off season home before headed back to LA.
Not much packing was actually getting done however, after a month of being apart Justin had turned into quite the horny guy. His hands weren’t off you.
You were bent over your bed trying to sort your clothes into piles when his hands grabbed your ass and you yelped, spinning around to face him you smack his chest “Hey, hands off!”
He pouts “But-“
“We have three days to pack this whole place up and get it in the truck, please we can have as much sex as humanly possible in LA”
He laughs at your ultimatum and kisses your nose “Ok, ok sorry you’re just so freaking beautiful”
By the time dinner rolled around half the house was packed and Justin was making food for you both.
You trudged downstairs with a box filled with shoes, a heavy box. You threw it down on the kitchen floor and looked up to see your boyfriend, shirtless and only wearing his tight dry-fit shorts with his hair still wet from the shower he must’ve taken.
You stared at his figure, your bottom lip subconsciously trapping between your teeth as your eyes raked his body from his back muscles all the way down.
In your moment of weakness, you hadn’t seen Justin turn around and stand smirking at you until he said
“I saw that. You just checked out my ass”
A blush spread over your cheeks “I was not!”
“Baby… it’s ok you’re allowed to”
You raised your hand to object before stopping yourself “I mean… we have packed, like I said we should”
He smirked, catching onto your words “The beds still made, right?”
“Not for long” You mumbled before you both took off up the stairs, giggling like teenagers in love again.

You were getting to a point where you almost had a schedule. First thing in the morning, you’d run to the bathroom and practically hug the toilet bowl, emptying out the contents of your stomach from the day before. Most of the time it was around 4:30 am, you’d have a soothing hand on your back and your hair out of your face but nothing really mattered when you were puking. It would happen again around lunch, if you were in the office you’d try your hardest to sneak into the bathroom so you could do your thing without anyone walking in. And if you were working from home you’d startle Nova with your mad dash to the downstairs bathroom because for some reason that one sometimes caught you off guard.
There was no baby bump yet, so you had that going for you. But hiding the fact that you were pregnant was going to be hard considering the fact that the season was about to be in full swing. You missed a Chargers’ significant others luncheon a few weeks before because you’d thrown up so many times that morning that Justin was ready to grab his keys and drive you to the hospital. No one knew about the baby other than your parents, his parents and your doctor. And the two of you intended to keep it that way for the foreseeable future.
“I can’t keep hiding forever and I have to make an appearance before I start showing and we have to come up with crazy excuses.” You tell him, getting ready for the team barbecue that was being thrown at the Allen home right before camp.
“I know, I just—how are we going to do this?” He was usually the calm one but ever since he found out the two of you had a baby on the way, he was a lot more on edge about…everything. Protecting your privacy was the one thing he was the most worried about, making sure the most important people in his life were taken care of.
“We are gonna have to make some things shake today but I think we can do it.”
The first person you saw when you walked in was Trey Pipkins and his wife so you hugged them both, making small talk while figuring out how to navigate the afternoon.
Step one: Sneak anti-nausea gummies
Somewhere between the mini sliders and the shrimp cocktail, Justin noticed your face change. He knew that look, he’d seen it way too many times in the last few weeks to count. So he came prepared.
Ciandra had just handed you a plate and after thanking her you just stared at it with your mouth watering…and not in a good way. You swallowed down the queasy feeling, trying to take steady breaths, when you felt a comforting hand on your back.
“I figured you could have some water before you and Ci get into the mixed drinks. And I brought you some extra napkins.” You nodded, putting the plate on the counter and taking a sip of your water. Justin and Ciandra talked for a bit but you weren’t really listening, silently telling yourself to give your husband a fat kiss on the forehead later because you felt two anti-nausea gummies hidden between the folds of your napkin.
You and Ciandra had been friends for a few years. Her husband was your husband’s favorite target and it was just so easy to get along with her and have a good time. And throughout that time you’d built somewhat of a bond in your mutual love for having a great time no matter the occasion. And that usually involved a themed cocktail or two. With that in mind, she was a bit surprised that you hadn’t asked her to grab you a drink. And that Justin had barely left you alone since the party began. It wasn’t unusual for the two of you to be together by any means, it was just a bit odd that he was practically glued to your side.
“Kae, do you think something is off with y/n?” Ci asks, a few minutes after leaving the two of you.
Mikaela laughs a little, handing her son a juicebox. “Not that I’ve noticed, why? Is your twisted tea sister not drinking with you today?”
“She said she’s Justin’s DD but like, she could have a little sip.”
She gasps after a while, putting some pieces together and looking toward her friend from across the room. “You don’t think she’s…you know what I’m gonna go find Keenan and see what he knows.”
Step two: Act normal when babies and children are brought up
Ever since the two of you found out you were going to be parents, the list was created. Milestones in the pregnancy were to be tracked on the app like what kind of fruit was being compared to the size of the baby or how much sleep you should be getting every night. There was also a hospital bag checklist for both parents and the newborn. When to sleep train, what kinds of prenatal classes to sign up for, which preschools and daycares were the best in LA because those fill up fast. Justin usually ignored the conversations that the guys had in the locker room regarding kids but now anytime a child was mentioned, he had to hide the smile on his face at the thought of him actually being in those conversations, taking mental notes along the way and soaking up as much information as he could.
Keenan noticed though. When the guys started gathering around in the backyard and talking about all the excitement of the season and training camp to feeling guilty about having to leave their families, especially their kids. He saw a hint of guilt on the face of his teammate and friend, wondering if there was something he missed.
Justin had mentally excused himself from the group, thinking about how impossible it would be to leave for training camp this year. This, football and his team meant everything to him and once upon a time there was nothing more important than getting that bonding time during camp to set the tone for team chemistry throughout the season. But now? The thought of him leaving you alone for 12 days sounded like the worst thing in the world. And he knew you weren’t made of glass but what if you needed him and he wasn’t there? Or you had a craving in the middle of the night and he wasn’t there to grab what you needed?
Even if it was none of those things, he just didn’t want to miss a single moment, not if it wasn’t absolutely necessary. And while he was going through all of those scenarios in his head, Keenan started to put the pieces together little by little and he needed someone to help him confirm his theory.
Step three: Execute the perfect drink handoff
Ci and Keenan found each other and went upstairs to have an emergency meeting.
“I think y/n’s pregnant.” They said at the same time.
“What do you know? Start from the beginning because I don’t have much, it’s just a strong mom hunch.” Ciandra asks her husband, waiting for him to spill.
He rubs his beard, trying to think back to when this all started. “Herb’s been acting real weird lately. He was on the phone the other day and I heard the word ‘doctor’ but I didn’t want to be in his business so I just asked him if everything was okay and he said everything was fine. But he just answered me so fast I knew something was up. And then after practice, most of the time if anyone asks him if they can get extra work in he says yes but he’s been running home pretty much as soon as we’re done. And today is when it clicked.”
“What did you see?”
“We were just talking about kids and camp and our routines and he just got…sad. Like really sad. And quiet. Like he didn’t wanna go to camp or something. And you know that man bleeds football. And I know that look because I’ve felt that before. Having your first kid and leaving your pregnant wife at home for days? That shit feels awful, makes you feel like a terrible husband.”
Ciandra laughs and gives him a hug. “You never told me that.”
“If I’m crying about leaving you and you’re crying about me leaving you. Then we’ll both be crying and who is that gonna help? We made it through though. Now you tell me 007, what do you know?”
The two of them continued to debrief and had been gone for a while, leading Justin to freak out. “They know.”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean Ci and Keenan. They’re onto us.”
You looked toward the stairs and looked around the room, realizing they were nowhere in sight. “Okay, I have a plan. But I need you to do me a HUGE favor.”
He would’ve probably walked a mile barefoot on concrete in July if you asked, so he just gave you a pointed look. You headed to the bar and spoke to the bartender for a bit, just in time for Keenan and Ciandra to rejoin the party.
Grabbing two drinks, you walked over to her and handed her a glass, much to her surprise. “Didn’t you say you weren’t drinking today?”
“A few won’t hurt,” you promised, clinking your glasses together and taking a sip. Her eyes bulged out of her head a bit, but it seemed like her confusion was gone after that. Little did she know, you had just downed a mocktail while she had Jose Cuervo increasing her internal temperature. You almost patted yourself on the back, thinking you were home free.
And you were free, until Makaela walked up to you, holding another glass. “You did say a few. Cheers to a few moments of peace before our lives are consumed by football.”
You gulped, feeling a few beads of sweat forming along your hairline. You raise your glass anyway, pretending to take a drink, waiting for something to catch the ladies’ attention so you could slip the cup into your husband’s hands as he walks by, allowing him to take a huge gulp of your cup before disappearing again. It never really occurred to you how much moms had to juggle while attending a party. Justin had probably finished about three of your margaritas without Kae or Ciandra noticing because one of them had to host the party and lost her own drink a handful of times and Kae was running after a toddler. The thought of that being your life in a few months really made you want that tequila shot.
At least your husband was enjoying himself…until you noticed that he really wasn’t. You found him sitting on a couch in the living room alone, looking like he was seconds away from dozing off. Running your hand along his cheek, you sat next to him and allowed him to rest his head in your lap. “You okay babe?”
“We have to go home soon, my stomach is starting to hurt from these cocktails and the two beers I had. How did you do this before?” His voice has the slightest hint of pain in it and you have to swallow your laughter.
“You’re usually the designated driver and I was having a wonderful time,” you shrug and he stares at you through his lengthy eyelashes that you hope your baby inherits. There’s a green tint to his features, making you regret this master plan. “Are you sure you’re okay cause you look like you’re gonna throw up. And if you puke, I’ll puke and it’ll just be—”
“Baby, please stop saying puke,” he begs, getting ready to stand up with a hand on his stomach.
“Sorry.”
No less than ten minutes later, you had made your rounds and said all of your goodbyes.
“So…she’s definitely pregnant right?” Keenan asks his wife after all of the guests are gone.
Ciandra laughs again, smacking him lightly on the arm, “you are so nosey! But yes, absolutely. I’m 99% sure I’ll be snuggling a little Herbo baby in the next nine months. We’ll just wait until they’re ready to tell us and I’ll support her every step of the way. With anything she needs.”
“And you know I’m gonna have my boy ready. He’s got SuperDad on his side, he’ll be alright.”
“Babe,” Ciandra begins, shaking her head, “nobody calls you SuperDad. Literally not a soul.”
“Well y’all should! Cause I am, you better ask your kids about me.” All he got back in response was an eye roll.
It was a miracle that you got Justin into the house and into bed without much struggle because all the liquor was definitely hitting him by the time you pulled into the driveway.
For the first time in weeks, you went to sleep with the scent of him bringing you peace instead of the usual nausea, which was a great sign. “I get why the guys fight for you like they do, you’re a great teammate,” you whisper, guessing that he’d already fallen asleep after today’s events.
“I do have a lot of teammates but you are by far my favorite. Can’t wait to add a little mini us to the equation. And hopefully I never ever have to drink that many margaritas again as long as I live.”
“You were an absolute warrior today. Have I ever told you that I love you so much and you’re the best husband I’ve ever had?”
“Sweetie, I'm the only husband you’ve ever had,” he laughs, holding onto you and kissing the crown of your head. “But I love you too. So much. Clearly.”

i have you
As soon as Justin appeared at the door, you stomach knotted, and sadness spread all over your chest. Watching Justin looked defeated was something you dislike so much. You werenever going to get used to it. It was unbearable, for him and for you. He put his hoodie on covering his sandy hair and got into the car in a quick pace. You grabbed the steering wheel tightly, biting your lips nervously. He left out a tired sigh, without looking at you. You turned on the engine, insecure of what to say.
"Let's just go home. No need to talk" he said, sensing your internal battle. You nodded and drove in silence until you got home. You helped him to get his things inside. You noticed he touched his arm, opening and closing his big hand. An injury?
"What do you want to do?" you asked him. Standing close to the door of the living room.
"I wanna rest" he said, walking toward the couch. He didn't turned on the lights "If you are hungry..." you started. "Nah, come and sit with me" you obeyed, sitting with him, you searched for his hand. "This sucks" you whispered more for you than him. His little sad smile made you look at him. "Justin..." you started, his eyes were filling with tears. His face was tense and his jaw clenched, his pretty eyes staring at the floor.
Oh, you had never seen him cry before. And the ache your felt, you hugged him in response, speechless. "I... I'm tired. I try my best every time" he started in a shaky voice. He rubbed his face not-so-gently, showing how frustrated he was. "And it's never enough. What am I doing wrong?" you bite you lip hard, not able to speak. Because yes, he always tried his best, fighting until the last minute, working through injuries, and more. Since the minute one until the last seconds, he was fighting. "Justin, I... I'm sorry. I know you always do the best. And you played great... but" you made him look at you by grabbing his chin and lifting his face gently. His red eyes reflecting the sadness he felt, but he obliged paying attention to you "You know, is a team sport. It's not about Justin is about the Chargers. You know once a man said to me the faster you realize giving you all doesn't equal winning or achieving things, the better you will deal with those things. It doesn't mean to give up, just to be real"
He just stared at you, thinking about what you say. You were about to said "forget it" when he nodded. "You're young, and have a great career in front, please keep it up" you finished. He touched your hand, counting the fingers, and then intertwined your hands. "Thank God I have you" he whispered, pure devotion coming from his tone. You heart ached, and you felt so much love for him. "I love you Justin, through wins and losses, no matter what" he closed his eyes, and inhaled deeply.
"Thank you, that means a lot to me" he said and briefly brushed his lips against yours.

hi i love your writing! could you possibly do justin herbert and reader breaking up but then they rekindle and it’s a happy ending?
Tumblr media
author's note; anons treating me so well u guys have better ideas than i do icl summary; alcohol and not being over your ex doesn't exactly mix well- unless, of course, your ex seems just as hung up on you. word count; 1K warnings; drinking, swearing characters; Reader x Justin Herbert
You let a loud sigh escape your lips the second your apartment door shut behind you. You placed a palm on the door, using it for support as you slipped off your heels and let your bare feet sink into the carpeted floor. "Jesus," you muttered to yourself. Without missing a beat, you headed to your fridge and pulled out a bottle of wine. You set your purse down on the kitchen island and, wine bottle in hand, padded over to the couch. You turned it on and, of course, your ex-boyfriend's face filled the screen. "It was just a flesh wound." He told the press before you could switch the channels. Your hand paused, hovering over the Netflix icon you had been meaning to press. A flesh wound? You couldn't stop yourself from pulling your phone out and googling it. Three years later you were unable to resist the need to know he was okay. His dismissal of it on television seemed reasonable, you decided as you scrolled through a few articles. But then a few articles became a highlight reel. And then media posts. And then his Instagram. He still followed you from back when the two of you had dated. You remembered his management encouraging him to make the account, and how, despite the fact he didn't run it, he had made sure you were one of the few hundred he followed back.
The split had been amicable. Your post-college heart had been absolutely broken, but Justin was moving to LA and you couldn't handle the distance. The two of you tried keeping in contact for a few months, but the second he was spotted with another woman you shut down. By the time you had sorted out your feelings for him, it felt too embarrassing to reach out. Now, ironically, you were in LA. And you wished you had held on to contact. Because god damn was dating in LA boring. The one you had just returned from had entailed a Chiefs fan mansplaining football to you and complaining about Taylor Swift- all because you had peeked past his shoulder to get a look at the Niners' score. You forced yourself to close your phone. You stood up and walked over to the closest mirror, checking yourself out. You had done your hair and makeup and picked a cute outfit- even worn heels!- just for the guy to be a tool. You smoothed out your shirt. Fuck it, you told yourself. You texted your best friend. Wanna go out? Absolutely, bitch. She replied.
The next morning you woke up with a pounding headache. How you had gotten home, or what exactly had happened the night before, you had no idea. You groaned loudly and leaned over to grab your phone off the nightstand. The notifications that greeted you were so mortifying you were sure you were going to puke. Seven missed calls from Justin, three voicemails, and five text messages. There was no chance in hell you were looking at any of those. You took an everything shower, blew out your hair, painted your nails, and made yourself food. Who knew that your ex-boyfriend could be so helpful when it came to working through a hangover? Finally, hours later, you had to check. The time without your phone- although you hated to admit it- was driving you crazy. You could only sit through so much without wanting to check it. And you were sure your best friend had to be worried you had choked on your own vomit at this point.
You responded to her texts first, with a simple 'I think I drunk called Justin.' You ignored her frantic texts and clicked on his first voicemail. "Hey." His voice sent shivers down your spine. There was something so homely about the way he sounded. Like hearing an old favorite song. "I think you drunk called me. My hand's fine, thanks for asking. Just a sprain, it'll be fine by the end of our by week. " Ever polite. When Justin first stepped into the spotlight, so many people questioned his personality and whether he would be fit to lead a team as their quarterback. He had never cared. He always dismissed it with a quiet wave. He was how he was, and you had loved him for it. The voicemail cut out there, and you played the next one. "Sorry," He began, because what else would he start out with? "I can't stop listening to what you sent me. I know you're drunk, but you said you haven't gotten over it- just in case you don't remember in the morning- and I haven't either. Just thought you should know." A click. You cringed. You truthfully didn't remember a moment of it. You understood now how the prohibition had happened. The last one. "Ok, I swear this is it." He laughed. The sound was like stepping under a warm ray of sun on a cold day. "I miss you. Text me when you wake up- I'm sorry for blowing up your phone. You said you were in LA? We should reconnect."
You put your phone face down and ran a hand over your face. Reconnect. With your ex-boyfriend. That you still weren't over. You texted your best friend. She responded with a bunch of messages that all had the same point; 'absolutely, you dumbass, you are still so in love with him and i'm sick of hearing about it.'
You swiped out of her messages and opened Justin's, which were full of concerned texts and him asking for you to text him when you got home to ensure you were safe. You bit your lip to try and control your smile. I'm free anytime this week. Coffee?
