I wanted to thank you for the encouragement. I just updated Our Own Paths because I knew people still cared. Think you'll like this one.
Hello, hello!!! Thank you so very much for this 🥺 You don't know how happy it made me to see this ask 🥺🥺🥺 (And I'm always over the moon when an author I really like feels encouraged by my comments :'D)
Sorry for taking so long to respond! I wanted to wait until I actually read the chapter, but I felt bad letting this sit in my ask box for so long so I'll just let you know instead--holiday season really tuckered me out, so I haven't been reading the updates for the deeply emotional multichap fics I've been following! I also really want to give you and the other amazing authors good comments once I read the updates, but since I still don't have the energy to appreciate the fics like they deserve, or to type out comments that arent just me flailing I've been putting them off 🙈
(Just wanted to let you know now because I didn't want you to think that I was ghosting you snsjjsjsm)
Once I get the energy back I'm deffo diving back into my updated bookmarked fics 😍
(Thank you so much again for messaging me 🥺🥰 Hope you have a Happy New Year!!!)

I just wanted to tell you how much I love Power Moms. El as a doting, protective adoptive mom is my favorite thing ever.
Thank you! I’m glad you like it!
Honestly, the thing that really stood out to me about El was the fact that she is really kind and protective of the people she cares about once you get past her cold exterior. My exposure to FE3H wasn’t exactly conventional - because I don’t have a Switch but I still wanted to learn more about the characters, I just looked up videos on Youtube. So rather than getting bits and pieces of Edelgard’s character through a game playthrough, I got it all more or less right upfront.
And what I found, especially in her support conversations, is that she really does care about the people she interacts with. She sees Lysithea struggling to clean up and not only makes sure the girl is ok but offers to do the work instead. She knows Bernadetta’s terrified of her so she tries to take that into account whenever they interact, even if Bernie’s reactions can get a little frustrating. She’s even considerate to religious people like Manuela, concerned about whether or not her actions would be good for them in the long run.
Yes, she’s a very driven, headstrong and unyielding person. Yes, some of her philosophies aren’t exactly morally pure. And yes, some of her actions were pretty terrible, but the person underneath that horned crown isn’t a heartless monster. Given what she’s been through - having to watch the only people she’s ever loved slowly tortured to death one by one - I wouldn’t call her heartless so much as brokenhearted. Her heart has been shattered and reassembled by her drive for justice for her dead family, but it’s fragile. Like a broken vase that’s been glued back together with craft glue. She built up walls to protect her heart, to keep it from breaking again because there was no guarantee she’d be able to fix again.
I think in the Blue Lions/Golden Deer/Church routes, her heart does break. She’s left alone, surrounded only by people either using her or pushing her toward bad decisions, and it ultimately leads to her downfall. In the Black Eagles route, however, she gains a new family. Her Eagles, whether she wants it or not, slowly chip away at those walls around her heart. Byleth takes a freaking sledgehammer to it. But then they provide a proper glue. They start to heal what was broken. They give her something to fight for that isn’t just revenge disguised as justice.
So it makes sense, then, that after the war El would start to give more of her heart to others. Now that it’s been healing. Now that the fear of losing the people she loves isn’t as prominent. And then she finds this girl. This girl who is like a ghost of herself and her siblings that never made it out of that dungeon. El’s in a position now where she can help. She can take that broken heart of the girl and start to mend it just like her friends, no - family - had done for her.
She’ll be everything she ever wanted to have when she was first pulled out of the dark. She’ll be kind. She’ll be comforting. She’ll be protective. But, most importantly, she’ll be loving. Because love was all she ever truly needed.

That's because they're off by a factor of ten. 1.4% of America is Jewish. I'm finding it really hard to believe there were no suitable Jewish lesbian actresses.
that sounds more right lol plus like, she doesn’t have to be an american actress,

jtavington replied to your post “I’m debating whether or not to keep going with ME1 transcripts or...”
Do it in whatever order you like
Yeah I don't really care much what people think about my order, but I do care about having good transcripts so yeah. Therum first. I'll have to load my previous playthrough and record everything all over again. Sigh.
edit: meant the “how dare you do it in one order you prefer, how dare you play it your way” crowd, not you all sorry

Yeah give it rest guys. I remember when the search engine of choice was AltaVista. Don’t be so smug,
AskJeeves, anyone? ☚(゚ヮ゚☚)
Seriously though, imagine if I had this same attitude towards my students. Some of them come from really impoverished backgrounds and barely know how to open Word. Do I come home and mock them on tumblr? No cause I’m not a dick.

I'm not sure Sae is bluffing. That is, Personaland seems different from real world Japan in how it treats young people. Makoto talks about going to law school as if it's undergrad, and Yoshida's enlistment of a minor to help him campaign would be illegal in real life. So death penalty for Okumura could be another quirk.
That… makes even less sense to the game’s narrative, though. If the game is getting away with things that would be illegal - or otherwise unusual - in the real world, where minors are concerned, why is a penalty for manslaughter that much greater than it would be in real life?
Besides that, the system is notorious for eliciting testimony and confessions with extremely questionable means. This much ingame has been established by Goro, by the abuse on Akira, the use of suggestive drugs, and is even documented in the real world to boot.
*With that in mind, a bluff is peanuts, and certainly not something that Sae is above given the entirety of her Palace.

jtavington replied to your post: Okay, but how can Alec Ryder be a biotic if he was...
I have a feeling they don’t care about lore anyway
Well, that’s just cynical and defeatist thinking.
mal-luck replied to your post: Okay, but how can Alec Ryder be a biotic if he was...
I think it has to do with the SAM Pathfinder implants. It’s part of the reason we can switch between “classes” on the fly.
Huh. I mean, I guess an AI sophisticated enough could in theory take care of the heavy neural lifting load required to actually learn how to practically manipulate dark energy. It honestly sounds needlessly complicated, when you could just say that the Ryder Twins have latent biotic potential. That’s already pre-established and it’s pretty heavily implied that if you chose the Mindoir origin for Shepard, that’s how it went down for them.
Okay, say that’s true. This brings up another problem: Where’s the Eezo in this scenario? Does he just have a backpack of it or...? I mean he needs it, otherwise no amount of SAM-magic can make biotics happen.

You like Phantom too? I don't talk about my love for the show much on here because most of my friends don't like musicals and definitely wouldn't care about my very strong opinion of early aughts cast members. It really is a great show and became one of those things that shades the work I create to this day, even if there's nothing under the jtav penname.
I don't know that I'd say I'm, like, a big fan? I never saw it on stage, it's never been something I was, like, In The Fandom for with things like art, 'fics, meta, etc..
But.
I grew up listening to the soundtrack, which I always thought was Quite Good, and I've shared in the Joy and Emotion it's brought to a lot of other folks I've known over the years, so I definitely appreciate what people mean when they talk about how it's affected them, what it's meant to them, and why it can be such an Emotional Experience. ^_^

What would you say is your first Fandom? Are you still active in that Fandom? :3
Well very first fandom was Titanic, but that was when I was 14. My first fandom as jtav/jtavington was Harry Potter. No longer active though I am still active in the musical theater fandom I discovered shortly after Titanic.

Author Questions
Tagged by @gerdavonrinnlingen, Thank you!
Author Name: TishinaDA (or Tishina or just Tish)
Fandoms You Write For: SWTOR, Dragon Age (off and on)
Where You Post: On AO3 and Tumblr, previously on FF3
Most Popular One-Shot: “Patience” (Misheen/Niko)
Most Popular Multi-Chapter Story: Dance in the Shadow of Honor, my Ucevi/Quinn story, still in progress. Though Saying Goodbye, my Surana/Cullen story (a post DAI reunion story when they’re finally on relatively equal terms) is second most popular, though, well, I lost interest in DA for the time being. One of these days, when I have more free time, I’ll have to finish it.
Favorite Story You Wrote: Hmm, that’s probably a tie between “Silence” (a follow-up Misheen/Niko story to “Patience”) and “Taking Flight” (’Noka’s origin story, including the moment she chose that name.) “Allies”, Lana and ‘Noka’s first real interaction, is a very close runner-up to them.
Story You Were Nervous to Post: Oh, I’m always nervous. Maybe Reunion”? My Po’teryal (Tery) and Jorgan reunion, with reference to her Koth romance. Any Koth-related story seems to take a big risk of dropping into complete silence, sadly.
How Do You Choose Your Titles: Mostly it’s something connected to the major theme of the story, particularly when the title has multiple meanings within the story, like “Silence” and “Dance in the Shadow of Honor”.
Do You Outline: Sort of, at least for multi-chapter stories. I know the major events (and I write out a lot of the background in detail) and the major turning points. But I don’t write out a traditional outline.
Complete: 18
In-Progress: 3.
Coming Soon: The next chapters of Dance in the Shadow of Honor and A Taste for Danger.
Do You Accept Prompts: Yes, but I don’t make promises. I’ve been fairly overwhelmed irl for a bit.
Upcoming Story You Are Most Excited to Write: I have a JC/Iresso story in mind that I’ve been writing background for, off and on. That’ll probably be my next multi-chapter story.
Tagging: I think most of my active writer friends have been tagged, but I haven’t seen tags for @curiousartemis, @angelicfangirl, @jtavington and @rainofaugustsith (and any writer friends who haven’t been tagged and I overlooked!)

Writing Tag Ask Meme
Tagged by @darknessfactor and I will tag @depizan, @jtavington and @tracinyad
1) How many works in progress do you currently have in progress?
Uhhhh I haven't written anything substantial in some time but I have multiple works in progress - two main stories (based on the trooper and sith inquisitor class stories but with significant alterations), and a general fic!versed where all the classes have a representative plus some additional characters thrown in. Also various AUs which I'll totally get around to writing at some point. Definitely.
2) Do you/would you write fanfiction?
Yes to both.
3) Do you prefer paper books or ebooks?
I prefer reading paper books when I'm at home and ebooks when travelling (convenience, don't have to worry about packing anything but the e-reader, etc.). I have a fondness for having an actual book in my hands though.
4) When did you start writing?
I started reading the Short Fic thread a few years ago on the official swtor forums and slowly worked up the courage to inflict my storytelling on the rest of the world.
5) Do you have someone you trust that you share your work with?
I'll run certain story points past a few people - @brightephemera a notable example but others as well depending on the character and the perspective I'm looking for (i.e. @depizan for concerns I may have about plot logic, @pedanticsoothsayer for certain shipping questions and so on).
6) Where is your favorite place to write?
My only real writing spot now is at home - I'm too busy/unable to write in the office any more. At my previous job I could find time/space to do that and it actually worked out well  (versus dealing with distractions/being tired/etc. at home), so it kind of sucks.
7) Favorite childhood book?
Depends on the age I guess. I loved the Magic Schoolbus and Goosebumps but read all sorts of things, really (Harry Potter, history, whatever).
8) Writing for fun or writing for publication?
I'm pretty sure publishing my fanfic would be considered a crime against humanity so it's all for fun.
9) Pen and paper or computer?
Computer exclusively, though I do have some handwritten notes when I have occasional off-the-cuff inspiration for characters or stories. In general using a computer makes it a lot easier to keep things organized, though.
10) Have you ever taken any writing classes?
Nope, nothing beyond required English classes back in high school and college (well and writing for grad school I guess).
11) What inspires you to write?
When I like/love a particular character or relationship or story point...and then it kind of flows from there. I only really started with my the idea of writing my trooper for the most part (with short fics to supplement that story) but my ficverse gradually grew as I experimented with different story and relationship dynamics and fleshed my other characters out. Sometimes it's even something petty (i.e. wanting to give attention to the many neglected characters/stories within SWTOR)
These days I have not really felt all that inspired, due to a variety of things, so I haven't really written much beyond an occasional short fic or whatever. I definitely do have times where I really want to write something but for whatever reason I end up lacking the motivation/energy/focus to get through it.

keelificent replied to your post “jtavington replied to your post “I’m debating whether or not to keep...”
There are honestly so many variances in ME1 you just can’t account for in a single PT, I ran into the same thing with my Ashley romance transcript. I did two different runs of Virmire just to get her different dialogue if you paragoned her vs if you don’t. Some lines change depending on Shep’s profile makeup. What decisions you make, who you have recruited, and yeah what order you do the missions in
So honestly yeah, don’t sweat over it just do how you want and if you ever replay and still want to transcript stuff, you can just do it in a different way then
I already worry no one is reading them rn because it’s MShep that I’m using ^^’
My next project is going back and changing all the parts where FShep has a different dialogue, and like you said, there are a lot of variations.
I also hope that when I’m done, someone who has trouble playing the games (for many reasons, disability included) can just pick my transcripts of ME1 and get a good experience reading it. Like “I want to read the adventures of MShep in ME1 where he’s a Paragon” -> transcript available. It tells you all the moves made by Shepard, where he’s going, why, who he’s meeting, the options he had but the ones he picked (ideally I’ll change it so there are two versions - one where you see dialogues options, another where you can just read it like a script)
And if you want the same with FShep, no problems. So I have a big interest in following the usual order picked. Ah it’s fine. I can go back and record while transcribing MEA in the meantime :)
