“And we were just unbelievably kind to one another from minute one. I guess we just teased each other and looked after each other simultaneously. It was beautiful working with him. He's such an incredible actor, and I learned so much from working with him, and as a man. Some days, I would go just to entertain Austin. If I didn't make him laugh, I wasn't doing my job. He was such a safe place, and I hope he feels the same with me, because we just loved each other.’”

“For Turner and Butler, the brotherly love that weaves through the show wasn't something the actors had to work at concocting. 'We just hung out with each other all the time, as much as possible,' Turner recalls of his still-strong friendship with the Dune: Part Two star. 'And we were just unbelievably kind to one another from minute one. I guess we just teased each other and looked after each other simultaneously. It was beautiful working with him. He's such an incredible actor, and I learned so much from working with him, and as a man. Some days, I would go just to entertain Austin. If I didn't make him laugh, I wasn't doing my job. I'm thinking Ewan Mitchell sold his soul to Hollywood. Fucking scary how they lure young great talents like him in. Thoughts?
Look, I'm gonna tell it to you as clean as I can.
Actors and Actresses are narcissistic, shallow, neurotic, empty people, which, as a whole, can't be trusted. They'll do and say whatever it takes not just to get a role, but to get even a few more lines in a script. They are adult people that play make believe for a living because they, generally, don't like themselves and want to be someone else. To deify or put on a throne, anyone, that plays pretend for a living is plain ignorant and you're asking for your heart to be dashed.
No one enters entertainment and comes out a better person, yeah?
There is a very few actors/Actresses that are jobbing, lunch pail working performers that are good and normal people.
Michelle Dockery, Laura Carmichael, Jenna Coleman, Nikolaj Coster-Waldu, Matthew Marsden, Aiden Turner, and Sam Heughan.
The only standard you should have for an actor or actress is these three questions:
Are they respecting the character?
Are they respecting the Lore?
And - most importantly - are they respecting the fans?
I hit Olivia Cooke with the fucking truck all the time, because, Olivia Cooke does not live up to these basic principles. She doesn't care about Alicent, in fact she hates Alicent. She doesn't give a fuck about the lore, and is actively campaigning to change it to virtue signal. And she openly does not care about the fans unless their gender and sexuality gives her cashe to big-up her career.
Like I've said, you can love a character and dislike an actor/actress. I'd give my sword for Alicent Hightower ... and at the same time I think Olivia Cooke is a dishonest snake.
Same thing with Lena Headey. Lena Headey might legitimately be retarded, okay. She is so stupid that she couldn't spell "Cat" if I spotted her the "C" and the "A", right? Lena Heady also happens to check all three of the boxes. She loved playing Cersei. She respected the Lore around Cersei and didn't try to change her character to make her look better. And while she had a terrible history prior of out right abusing her own fans, she learned to appreciate the people that paid her fucking bills, in the end.
When it comes to Ewan. I wouldn't wear those clothes, and I question the manhood and self-respect of any man who wears them - gay or straight. But at the end of the day, Ewan Mitchell has a right to do whatever the fuck he wants to do. Or, more succinctly, I don't give a fuck about his or any other actor's personal lives.
What they do on their time is their business. But what they do on my time is my business. And since I'm paying a subscription for "MAX" and thus paying his fucking salary, I expect him to not waste my time with half-ass performances and hack effort, right?
But he hasn't waisted my time.
Ewan Mitchell has been a model of professionalism and passion when it comes to portraying Aemond.
He has put more thought than anyone - except for Glynn-Carney - about his character.
He is dedicated to playing the character right.
And he has been exemplary in his treatment and interaction with the fans of the show and the franchise as a whole.
And that's really all you can ask of an actor in your franchise. What he does and believes in his personal life is his affair. As long as he doesn't disrespect me than I won't disrespect him. That simple.
Once more, you guys have to stop putting actors/actresses on thrones, cause they're only human ... and, in many cases, not very good ones. Love the character, stan the character, but hold these real life people to simple standards that they should be holding themselves too.
I'm not coming down on you nonny, but I've had thirteen years of this shit on Tumblr of fangirls worshiping an actor or actress in cult like status because they like a character.
You guys have got to stop doing that, cause it only leads to bad things.

cat!!!! hi!!!! i want to get my non-reader friend into reading. he probs won't read anything over 150-200 pages so i'm trying to find an entertaining short book. all the short books i love are essays or philosophy or things i think he could like in time but would probably find dry at the start (especially cause he hasn't read anything recreationally for years). so im at a loss and wanted to know if u have any recs for short books that are page-turners/easy to read <3 hope ur having a good day beloved xo
hello my love <3
first of all sorry for replying late but i was sleeping and then i had to go to the BANK but anyway i have compiled a little list of books i loved that are under 200 pages. there are lots of classics that are shorter and i've included them even though i think some of those would be stuff that you or him might have already read!
contemporary fiction
open water by caleb azumah nelson: THIS IS SUCH A GREAT ONE that i can't imagine anyone not enjoying. truly. it's a love story between two black young british people but it's far from a tiktok romance novel. it explores themes of race and masculinity and vulnerability and it's soft but also very real and it's wonderful. honestly if i had to only recommend one it would be this!
small things like these by claire keegan: very good and quietly hopeful story of a man in a little irish town at christmas. everybody was talking about this book last year and with good reason, it's great.
whereabouts by jhumpa lahiri: the story of a woman in the town she lives in and how it can change in a year. this is an introspective one but jhumpa lahiri is a genius so it reads very easily and it's so wonderfully written.
interpreter of maladies by jhumpa lahiri: short stories, mainly dealing with indian characters in the US. they feel absolutely universal while teaching something about culture and belonging. won the pulitzer in 1999.
how not to drown in a glass of water by angie cruz: a woman narrates the story of her life to her counselor who's trying to find her a job. it's funny and hopeful and memorable. the author is so great (she wrote another one called dominicana that is a masterpiece although is longer!)
kim jiyoung, born 1982 by cho nam-joo: the story of a new mum living in korea that explores the estrangement of being a woman and having to give up so much. it's definitely more serious but it's written very well and it doesn't feel heavy at all.
swimming in the dark by tomasz jedrowski: this one is incredible. it's the story of a polish university student who falls in love with another man in the 1980s in an obviously very repressive society. so he's in love but he wants protest and he can't ignore the struggles and the disparity around him. it's very political but also lyrical and tender.
someone who will love you in all your damaged glory by raphael bob-waksberg: okay this breaks 200 pages at 256 pages long. but it's so good. everybody would love this. it's by the creator of bojack horseman if that can be an incentive somehow. it's a collection of stories that are so unconventional and bizarre in the most incredible way. they are funny stories and sweet and absurd and sad. i really loved reading this book.
infinite country by patricia engel: the story of a colombian family dealing with deportation. it's from the pov of elena who is the eldest daughter. it's a beautiful book that deals with very real struggles and it does it beautifully.
classics
recitatif by toni morrison: very short story (about 20 pages) but so clever and so well written of course. it's the story of two women who have known each other since they were children. they lose touch and then they reconnect when they're older. one of them is white and one of them is black, but the author never tells you which is which. so it's a great story about race.
the cossacks by leo tolstoy: the story of a man who loses his fortune and retires to a cossack village. it's very russian... but it's very well written and definitely explores some of the themes that tolstoy will then explore in war and peace like the purpose of life and war and his love of nature.
white nights by fyodor dostoevsky: again very russian. but less than 100 pages long! it's the story of a young man living in st petersburg who one day meets a girl and they become fast friends. they both feel like outcasts, so together they feel like they can belong. it is actually great.
giovanni's room by james baldwin: lots of baldwin's books (both his fiction and non-fiction) are short ones actually. this one is the story of a man in paris who, while waiting for his girlfriend to get there, falls in love with a man. it's an incredible story dense with love and passion and shame and it is wonderful.
the old man and the sea by hemingway: old man tries to catch big fish after not being able to catch any fish for a long time. but also so much more than that and nobody made me read this in school so i only read it at 25 and it blew me away. everybody told me it would be so sad but i think it's actually hopeful and a little bit it is a story about community? and it tells you that there's people waiting for you to come back.
of mice and men by steinbeck: again i read it in my mid twenties and loved it. it's a gut punch. it's about two men clinging together as laborers in california. it deals with what it means to feel powerless in a tyrant world.
franny and zooey by salinger: one of the best books ever i think. franny and zooey are brother and sister and they are two young people experiencing existential doubts. it's a book about family and about growing into adults and about the alienation that comes with that. salinger knows how to write young people in a crisis so well and how to make it engaging and entertaining.
having compiled this list i now see that my tastes definitely are oriented in a certain way but i hope at least one of these can work for your friend. i tried to include all the shorter books that i have read and loved and i think that generally anyone could enjoy them, but you never know!
hope you're having a great day too!!! mwah!!

Arctic Monkeys' Alex Turner on Sinatra, the tao of Natalie Imbruglia's 'Torn,' and the songs that make him cry (Entertainment Weekly)
On the eve of their new album, The Car, the Britpop giants' frontman shares the soundtrack of his life.
By Leah Greenblatt, October 19, 2022 at 03:00 PM EDT
Soundtrack of My Life is a recurring column in which musicians recall their favorite songs, artists, and albums.
Seated in a shabby-chic hotel lounge on a blazing September day in New York City, Alex Turner looks like the timeless picture of a louche, untouchable rock star: slick swoop of chestnut hair, fine gold chain glimmering on his neck, indefinable swagger. Even his late-summer sweater, some kind of gossamer knit rendered in the rich sea-foam green of Pantone swatches or private Aegean islands, looks both expensive and effortless.
But the frontman of arguably one of the biggest bands of this millennium is endearingly uncool when it comes to showing up for the assignment — in this case a look back at the songs and artists who shaped him as a boy growing up in Sheffield, England, the only child of two secondary school teachers. "I was racking me brain for this," he admits in his undimmed Northern accent, holding up a little piece of paper covered in hand-scratched recollections. (Mistaking the hotel lunch menu for his notes at one point, he even cracks a self-deprecating joke; Tuscan kale, he knows, is not quite the answer we came for.)
Turner's deep-dive instincts and attention to detail track in his songwriting — bracing, immersive tales of late-night longings and intergalactic space stations, rendered in grand Cinemascope — and in the electric headlining sets the Arctic Monkeys have become known for, after 15-plus years of live shows and more than 25 million albums sold. In advance of their seventh studio release, The Car, the 36-year-old singer dug deep into memories of the Beach Boys, Natalie Imbruglia, and the stuff that middle-school crushes are made of.
My first musical memory
"It's always about being in the back of the car at that age, isn't it? There's a lot of things from that [era] I remember. Pet Sounds, certainly. The Carpenters. In me dad's car, less so with my mom at the wheel, there'd be a lot of Sinatra as well... My dad was a science teacher when I was born, but around that time he stopped teaching physics and started teaching music instead. He played in swing bands and stuff, so that was his thing. And the song I remember asking him to play when I was really little was Sinatra doing this song about how 'there's an awful lot of coffee in Brazil.' What always impresses me is the way Sinatra delivers the vocal, the timing of it all. And with the Beach Boys, too, there's something involuntary about the reaction, hearing those harmonies. It's magic. I mean even the name of it, Pet Sounds, and the sleeve, I think is kind of mad. Them feeding the animals on the cover? Now you can't think of those two words without thinking about all the harmony and the imagination that's in there."
My first time performing in public
"I didn't start playing guitar till much later. I used to go for piano for lessons once a week from about 8 years old. But I wouldn't say I really took to it. I don't think they were thinking, 'That's it, we found the thing! Here he is.'" [Laughs]
In high school you had to pick music, art, or drama, and I went for the drama, funnily enough. I don't think I particularly excelled in dramatics. But I remember in primary school, me first big moment on stage was when I was given the job of the narrating donkey for the nativity play. I mean, it was a lot of responsibility at that age to be given the job as narrator. They were like, 'But there's a catch: You're the donkey.' I was like, 'All right, well, I'll take it.' Matthew [Helder], our drummer, in fact, was also in that production. He might have had a more senior role. But his mom found some footage from it, which hopefully is under lock and key somewhere. [Laughs] Yeah, you'd need a retina scan to get into that vault."
The first album I bought with my own money
"I think it was probably the third Oasis record, Be Here Now. I was too young for the one before that [(What's the Story) Morning Glory?], though I do remember being aware of it. You used to always be able to get records in the supermarket, so I'd be in the store with me mom, and you might go around to that section and be like, 'What's all this?'
The first single I can remember buying is 'Torn' by Natalie Imbruglia, but it wasn't with my own money. No, wait, I might have done — I might have mowed the grass to get 'Torn.'" [Laughs]
My first concert
"I remember getting the train to Manchester to see the Vines in October 2002. It was me, Matthew, Nick [O'Malley, the band's bassist], and another friend of ours. I mean, funny that three out of the four of what became the Arctic Monkeys lineup were there. It wasn't usually like that. I saw that other friend a couple of weeks ago, actually, and we still talk about it now, getting the train in the morning, going right up to the front. And all the opening acts — this band called the Bandits and this band called Nada Surf.
That was really the start. We were going to shows whenever we could after that. We'd just started playing together that summer, in me parents' garage. We'd be trying to play 'Get Free' by the Vines. And the Datsuns — they had a song called 'Harmonic Generator,' and we used to do a cover of that. I'm sad that I missed [seeing] the Strokes in Sheffield for Is This It, though. I was a little bit late to the party there."
The song that reminds me of my first crush
"This is one of those things you're always supposed to remember fondly, isn't it? Sadly, I was sort of struggling to pin it down. But there's someone called Andreas Johnson, and the song was called 'Glorious.' It was on the radio a lot at the time. It had this big guitar and orchestra parts; it's hard to describe. And also maybe the song 'Crush.' I mean, it's a little too on the nose possibly, but the artist is Jennifer Page. Yeah, I may have listened to it yesterday — there was a line it in that made me smile.
I can't remember really talking to anyone about music at that time. A few years later I probably wouldn't shut up about it. I do remember we'd have these dances every now and again at school, and there used to be this one called the Snow Ball or something where two people would stand in the middle and were supposed to dance, but they didn't. So there'd be like a girl and a guy holding hands, but as far away as possible, and then the song would stop and they'd go and get another two people, and this sort of really uncomfortable line would form. I hadn't thought about that for a really long time."
The first song I ever wrote
"There's one that springs to mind, but it's a melody rather than the words. I had a dictaphone — you know the one where you have the little cassette inside — and I found that again recently, a few little scraps of ideas. Do I have songs that haven't found their way into things yet? Definitely. There's one that's tried to get on a couple of records and didn't make it, and it's probably coming up on 10 years old now.
One of my favorite songs ever is 'The Beast in Me' by Nick Lowe. A friend of mine was lucky enough to bump into him on vacation and he asked him about it then, and apparently he said that was [a song] for him that was sticking around for ages. So hopefully I'll find a way to get some of [my own] out there at some point."
The songs that make me cry
"'Les Choses de la Vie' by Philippe Sarde is from the movie of the same title — it's the main theme. It does a pretty good job of stirring up emotions without getting anywhere near words, which is something I'm becoming more interested in as time goes by. That's a beautiful piece of music.
And 'Where Did Everybody Go?' from Nat King Cole has incredible, incredible vocals. The way it's laid out, it's got this introduction and this sweeping instrumental section that segues it into another song almost. It's a really simple, straightforward set of words, just done in an excellent way."
The song people might not expect me to love
"I think George Michael's song 'Outside' is brilliant. I remember saying how good I thought it was, and somebody was maybe surprised. Just melodically, that bit in the chorus, 'I know you want to, but you can't say yes'? It's pretty exciting."
The musical moment I wish I had a time machine for
"The Last Waltz with the Band and Dr. John and everyone, that would have been an interesting night. Unique. I'm a big fan of that movie and the performances.
There's a live album with Sinatra at the Sands that is a favorite of mine that I feel would be an interesting show to be at in a different way. There's this song on there, 'Don't Worry 'Bout Me,' that he introduces by saying he thinks it's one of the best standards. There's a bit where the band is just ripping, and he sings this note that sort of slides up. I don't know what it is — it's a dolphin thing, it's a quack. And the way he makes his way through it? Beautiful."
The song I want played at my funeral
"I was talking about this with the guys in the band, and 'Dance Commander' by Electric Six is the one that sticks. We're kind of back in that 2002 region again, aren't we? But the lyrics on some of that shit are brilliant. Depends what kind of funeral you want, I guess." [Laughs]
Arctic Monkeys' new album, The Car, is out Friday.
This interview has been edited and condensed for length and clarity.

2) Come Alive by delires
1960s NYC: Newly-wed junior advertising exec Blaine Anderson finds a missing piece to his puzzle in the back room of a Manhattan bar. Mad Men era AU.
3) Stick Season by @blurglesmurfklaine

4) Witch Wanted by @rockitmans
Blaine is cursed to not touch anyone, Kurt is the grumpy neighborhood witch. They each have something the other other needs (the thing is love)
5) Running in Circles, Coming up Tails by izwordsoup
Kurt and Adam are married with a seven-year-old daughter, Ellie. "Happily married" is another question. Ellie takes piano lessons from none other than Blaine Anderson, who also happens to be a good friend of Kurt's since college. What happens to them when Adam goes to England to star in a West End musical, leaving Kurt and Ellie in New York? What happens when Blaine becomes a more frequently-seen figure in Kurt and Ellie's lives due to Ellie's piano schedule?
6) Swing Swing by quizasvivamos
The Skanks, Kurt and Quinn, are a thing. Blaine, a bit of a bad boy, is dating that goth girl, Tina. The four best friends are fully immersed in the Emo/Scene subculture, the kids everyone at school calls emo or just plain freaks. As close-knit as a friend group can get, the couples share a lot in common: their love of choir and band, tastes in music and art, partying, going to shows and concerts, getting wasted, and—oh, yeah—each other's partners. They swap sometimes. Because it's cool, and it's hot. Besides, it's just for fun. Then, in the summer before their senior year, they take a life-altering road trip to Cleveland for Warped Tour 2005.
7) Ebb & Flow by maanorchidee
Blaine Anderson is yet another anonymous New Yorker who's trying to get a job in the entertainment industry. His days are filled with auditions, bleak subway rides, piano lessons, and complaining about his annoying next-door-neighbour. But Blaine has a secret that he cannot share with his other friends: he dreams of playing competitive Splatoon 2. He already has a hard time justifying this music degree, so he doesn't need to add an interest in eSports to that. That's why the only person who knows about this, is yet another stranger on the internet named Kurt. The two met in an LGBT Splatoon 2 Discord and became fast friends. Little do they know that they also know each other offline.
8) These Inconvenient Fireworks by redheadgleek
After an unexpected Tony award, Kurt Hummel is Broadway's hottest up and coming star, which comes with expectations and some admirers that won't take a hint. When his best friend Elliott Gilbert suggests that they pretend to date to get the leeches to back off, Kurt takes him up on the idea. It's all working out great - until Kurt starts to fall hard for the dark-haired music director of his latest musical.
9) Out of Eden by @wowbright
As a gay Mormon, Kurt Hummel has decided to go the rest of his life without falling in love. But toward the end of his two years as a missionary in Germany, Elder Anderson moves into his apartment—and Kurt's best-laid plans fall apart.

Josephine was born on a sunny morning of July 1995 in Providence, Rhode Island. Her parents were freshly out of high school, and had a pretty complicated/toxic relationship. (tw addiction and child abandonment/neglect mention) They were also addicts, who usually neglected little Josie in favor of their vices. That was… until one night where they preferred them and decided it was best to leave their kid behind to start the hedonistic careless lifestyle they always dreamt of together. They drove down, then made a stop in New Haven, Connecticut to tell Josie to wait for them in a bench at a church downtown, to never be seen again. When Josie was found, she was too small to explain what had really happened. All she could babble was ‘mamma’ and ‘pappa’ as she looked around without luck. It was clear to locals that the poor child had been left for her luck there, so she was immediately placed into foster care. Josie moved around a lot in different foster homes, yet never found a family to call her own. All she's ever known is the fact that she's on her own. Growing up, Josie was a pretty quiet kid, she didn’t have many friends at school or at the foster care. She found solace in her drawings and the music blasting on her headphones. She always carried a little notebook around to sketch whenever inspiration hit her: that was her first real love, the arts. She loved to draw, paint, sketch, you name it... it was her escape. When turning 18, right after graduating high school, it was now time for Josie to leave foster care. She was now on a mission to survive out there in the real world. Deciding to do a full 180 and try new things and step out of her comfort zone, she moved to Los Angeles to start a new life in the west coast. While looking for a job in the city, she met an old lady kind enough to let her work at her house, and stay with her too. Her name was Alyssa Turner. It was in L.A that Josie broke out of her shell and for the first time in her life, connected with people with the same passion as her: art. These new artsy friends were the ones who allowed her to truly explore her other biggest love: music. They wanted to start a band and needed a bassist, so that's how Josie ended up learning. She fell in love with it so much that she eventually learned guitar and drums too. The band didn't last long, but it was the thing that made her discover she wanted to keep on doing music for the rest of her life. Josephine worked for, and lived with Mrs. Alyssa until she turned 21. Having saved enough to find a place of her own, and thinking that was the perfect age to begin her real independence. Mrs. Alyssa became the only family she’s even known (tw death mention) up until her passing in late 2021. It was thanks to her that Josie got her last name, never having one before. At 19 she legally changed her name to Josephine Azalea Turner. “Azalea” was the middle name Mrs. Alyssa picked for her. She was an avid nature fan who owned a big garden, and that was her favorite flower type. And Turner, of course, after the woman who sheltered and loved her unconditionally, never asking for anything in return. It was at 21 that she discovered she could actually make a living out of music too, which is when she started to take it all more seriously. First as a session musician, then a touring member... till her biggest opportunity to date came to her in 2020: joining IMMY's band as a bass player, it was a no brainer and that's what she's been primarly doing since, having found her new family there.
𝙷𝙴𝙰𝙳𝙲𝙰𝙽𝙾𝙽𝚂
Josie never stopped making art, at this point she's established herself as a respected artist in the west coast, and of course her growing following after joining IMMY's band helped her gain exposure. She mainly paints and sometimes holds exhibitions in the city. You can definitely find her at Urban Artistry Studio often. She also works on IMMY's art for her socials, merch or artwork!!!
(tw overdose mention) She's unaware of this (yet), but her biological mother tragically passed away due to an overdose when Josie was only 5, causing her father to decide to get clean... he got married a few years later and Josie has two younger siblings (possible wc i end up sending to the main!)
She's a cancer so she feels... A Lot. She's constantly in her own lil world crafting new ideas for paintings or melodies for songs (she really values her alone time). Yet she can also be incredibly impulsive and easily get into trouble (that Aries rising sigh).
Too gay to function™ . Has a crush on every pretty girl she sees (can u blame her tho??). Also a hopeless romantic (oh, that Libra moon...), can't hook up with anyone without falling in love... I'm sorry, I don't make the rules.
A regular at PRISM club... has performed DJ sets there for the funsies.
Definitely an astrology girlie.
Went to community college to get a degree in visual arts.
Josie's never been about fame, she performs music because that's her passion... it's always overwhelming (in the best way) if she ever gets recognized down the street, and she really appreciates it every time!!
Umm yeah I named her Josie after the blink-182 song and Turner after Alex Turner u got me there!!!
I think those are the basics atm... I'll update if I can think of more!!
𝚆𝙰𝙽𝚃𝙴𝙳 𝙲𝙾𝙽𝙽𝙴𝙲𝚃𝙸𝙾𝙽𝚂
It'd be cool to have some of her og crew around when she first moved to L.A!
Fans of her art (either paintings or music), would be cute to be some sort of mentor to someone omg??
ART FRIENDS!! Someone she can gush about art and visit every museum/local exhibition with (her own tortured painters department)
A FWB (we all know she'd be secretly in love with them but shh), or a one night stand, bonus points if the other person is super shy about it and it's extremely awkward every time they run into each other lmao.
An ex girlfriend... pls gimme that heart heart-wrenching sapphic drama.
First love!!! Could be wholesome friends now, or lingering feelings.
A crush... can be one sided, bold of u to assume she only ever crushes on (1) person???
EVERYTHING AND ANYTHING!!! I promise I'll excitedly yell about it with you ♡

I think I'd like to Steve Jobs-ify / Andrea Zittel-ify my wardrobe like. One color or cut per season and I just wear the same fucking thing every day without thinking about it. would simplify things by a Lot. Like Timmy Turner.
On a somewhat related note I was thinking about doing a super involved performance / painting piece where I make my own religion and rituals down to the clothing and food (I started writing scripture also just to see if I could bullshit half as well as dead men from centuries ago...spoilers, I can). I think it would be very entertaining for me. Possibly problematic if I were to do it for my thesis but I would be tickled and that's what matters.

Masters of Puppets: Play takes a peak behind often sordid curtain of pro wrestling
One of Kurt Fuller’s first acting jobs was as one of the leads in the 1989 film, “No Holds Barred,” Hulk Hogan’s acting debut.
“I played sort of a Ted Turner, Vince McMahon, so I worked with those guys and saw a lot of interactions,” Fuller said. “So when I read this, it completely rang true to me. I just recognized so much about it.”
Fuller, who more recently was in the CBS series “Evil,” read Laurence Davis’ play, “Master of Puppets” and he quickly agreed to join a cast of well-known actors working with director James Roday Rodriguez to stage the world premier of this dark comedy/satire on the world of pro wrestling. The play opens on Thursday at runs through June 11 at the Legacy Theater in Branford.
“The fact it was about the world of wrestling, which I always have found very interesting and I think it’s underappreciated, because it’s entertainment,” Fuller said. “Believe me, the pain is real.”
This work of fiction, which contains mature language adult situations, such as violence and drug use, is not suitable for young audiences. It brings to life a behind-the-scenes drama of a successful wrestling operation, showing its age and struggling to stay relevant in the modern media world, and the relationships therein.
Fuller plays Victor Kragston, the wrestling ringmaster.
“I’m basing the character on just about every flawed, powerful person there is,” Fuller said. “I could never play Vince McMahon. Who could play Vince McMahon? No one. Only Vince.”
Amanda Detmer, who you’d recognize, as many around Branford’s Stony Creek area already have, from the Fox series “Empire,” plays Delia Kragston, wife of the wrestling mogul who happens to be running for major political office. That may sound a little familiar around here.
“It is a parallel, let’s say, to that (Linda McMahon, Vince’s wife who unsuccessfully ran twice for the U.S. Senate),” Detmer said. “This is a group of people I’ve worked with before; Kurt and I have played husband and wife before. I’ve seen limited wrestling, I’ve never been really into it, which kind of works for this because (the character) is really against all the violence. I certainly have a hard time watching people even pretend to fight, and wrestling isn’t as pretend as we’d like to believe.”
Michael Hogan (Fox series, “The Resident”) plays Rainey Dayes, the one-time marquee wrestler who is now the executive’s sidekick, and Dana Ashbook (Showtime’s “Twin Peaks”) plays Ted Blasendale, a TV executive putting pressure on Kragston and Dayes to produce something fresh for modern audiences before offering a new contract.
“It’s a slice of life,” Ashbrook said. “It’s an interesting slice of life and it’s funny and it has a lot of different components to it about the wrestling world. … The appeal of (wrestling) is the soap opera aspect to it, it’s an ongoing narrative.”
Hogan used to follow World Class Championship Wrestling, and is using bits and pieces from several of its wrestlers to create his character.
“It gets down to the sell of the punch,” Hogan said. “I always love watching guys lay out after a big hit. That stuff to me has always been more interesting. For some it’s the promos and the good looks of the people involved, but for me it’s always been the conveyance of pain, one guy to another guy, and how over-the-top ridiculous it is. I got into a lot of stage comedy because I love selling the blow a lot.”
The tiny Legacy Theater first opened in 1903 as a silent movie house and, through its long history, has staged plays by Orson Welles’ Mercury Theater Company productions in the 1930s and is best known for a past life as the Stony Creek Puppet House. It was refurbished in 2021.
Safe to say it has never been the stage for a play quite like thfis. As Fuller said, in wrestling, you don’t just imagine hitting your nemesis with a two-by-four, you get to see it happen.
“There is a wonderful line in the play,” Detmer said, “that says, ‘Wrestling, we put smiles on people’s faces,’ and the reasoning is that we provide a place where people can imagine themselves as the wrestlers. In the play, we say, ‘We don’t just fight for you, we sprinkle the magic dust that provides the force that fights as you.”

Okay, let's talk about this
Tumblr media
Sam Claflin + supporting Johnny Depp.
I'm using this screenshot purely as an example, not to attack the poster. It's the only screenshot I have re this topic, I've had it saved since April 2023. Last I checked, this account has been suspended from Twitter. (ETA it has now been re-instated.)
I'm not here to fight Sam's battles or argue; if you're determined to cancel Sam, don't let me stop you. If you, however, would like to know more on Sam's background and why he may have supported Johnny--read on.
What the above screenshot tells us is that Sam liked, and commented on, Depp's Instagram post celebrating the win of his defamation trial. Some time later, Sam deleted his comment, unliked the post and unfollowed Depp. (I didn't even know about all that as I'm not that deep into Instagram, but I can see Sam doesn't follow Depp and there is no like from him on that post. Anyway, you can check for yourselves.) I think there are worse crimes than liking a social media post and as Sam deleted the comment and unfollowed Johnny, he clearly realised his mistake. But this is not about that.
Sam and Johnny Depp
Sam started his career in 2010 in the mini series Pillars of the Earth. He had a couple more TV jobs, until he landed his first big movie role, which was Philip in Pirates of the Caribbean On Stranger Tides (the 4th instalment of the franchise). For Sam, this would have meant a lot--more than a lot. Sam comes from a normal background--by which I mean his parents are regular people and not in entertainment. His father makes dad jokes on social media. (His younger brother Joe is also an actor, but he's very low-key.) Like I keep saying, Sam's just a boy from Norwich, essentially the exact opposite of a nepo baby. He didn't even plan to become an actor in his childhood, his dream was to become a professional football (soccer) player. It was only after suffering ankle injuries that he switched to acting. What I'm saying is, for Sam to get a role next to a star of Johnny Depp's calibre would have been HUGE.
Check out this snippet of an interview with Joe Wicks (dated Spring 2021), where he talks about how nervous he was on the set:
youtube
No doubt he was starstruck about working with Depp. A quote from Sam's IMDb page: "Johnny Depp gave me the best advice. He said, 'Keep your feet on the ground. Stay grounded. Remember where you came from.'" It's something that must have resonated with Sam. Sure, Depp didn't come up with it, it is, after all, a good old common sense advice--but that doesn't matter, bc you always remember the person who gave you the good advice, even if it was not something they invented themselves.
Timeline-wise, POTC4 was released in 2011, which means it was probably filmed the previous year. So before Depp got into a relationship with Amber Heard.
Sam has, as you know, forged a respectable acting career for himself, but that POTC experience is something he would never forget. More than a decade later, he still goes back to it. And why not--you don't just let go of your first blockbuster that easily.
I seriously, SERIOUSLY, doubt Sam watched any of that notorious trial. He was filming Daisy Jones and The Six at that time and at least for a portion of the time he had his kids with him and homeschooled them.
Sam and Women
Sam has worked with female directors, as well as doing female-centric projects, or projects featuring strong female characters. (Whatever your opinion on how DJATS diverged from the book in this regard, he can hardly be blamed for it. Ask yourself instead why Reese Witherspoon, with her female character centred book club, let the male writers get away with what they did.)
And let's not forget that Sam is also, like Depp, divorced. Unlike the beloved pirate star, he has not a bad word to say about his ex-wife, Laura Haddock. "We're still a family." Laura is also an actress, you may know her from the Guardians of the Galaxy films.
Recently, Sophie Turner had to deal with being smeared in the media by her (soon-to-be)ex-husband. No such behaviour from Sam. Of course, you can argue that Sam's conduct in this matter should not be praised, bc it should be the default. Probably, I'm just pointing it out as it's relevant to the topic.
Sam and being down to earth
I always laugh about the fact that (nearly) all of Sam's interviews include the following 3 items: 1. Sam praising the people he works with, be it fellow actors or other crew, 2. Sam saying something self-deprecating and 3. Sam mentioning his kids, or the fact that he's a father. Read any of his interviews--or watch this, filmed by yours truly (sorry for the poor quality):
youtube
As I said above, Sam is from a regular family and started earning his own money from the age of 13. When he was at SXSW 2023, where they were served food, he cleared the dishes after himself [source].
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sam is not one of those big name Hollywood stars. I'm not sure he can even be called a Hollywood star. He could have been one, he could have been on the level of Marvel's Chrises, after playing Finnick in Hunger Games. But he chooses smaller, quieter projects. He maintains the just right level of fame that brings him enough money, while allowing him to keep his personal life private.
Sam being a dad:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sam has also been open about struggling with his worth and his insecurity. I guess this circles back to Johnny Depp. When you don't know your true worth, you might believe certain people, who have been in the business for a long time, to be more than what they are. But I'm getting into some armchair psychology now, so let me end it here.
In conclusion, you could do worse than be a fan of Sam Claflin.

Notre Dame AU “Interlude” Chapter: The Press Conference
So, while we wait for more info on SB’s Ruin DLC, here’s a little “filler” chapter that takes place between Chapter 7 and Chapter 8.
I might write the rest of the fanfic and hope that I’m onto something, but I dunno. We’ll see.
A large crowd of reporters and civilians gathered around a small stage. Chattering flooded the room as two people climbed onto the stage. One in a t-shirt and khakis, the other in a mildly colorful business suit. “We’re almost ready to get started,” the one in the t-shirt casually announced through a cheap microphone. “If you could quiet down and let those with actual questions line up down the middle, that’d be great.”
The one in business clothes anxiously eyed the crowd. She exhaled deeply as she closed her eyes. “It’s all right, Jessie,” she thought to herself. “Just remember to answer straightforwardly this time. Fazbear is counting on you to get these facts out there before any dumber rumors start.”
“..Today we’ve got Jessica S. Turner, head spokeswoman of the Fazbear’s Kingdom department,” the casual one stated, lazily reading a small piece of paper. “For legal reasons, Fazbear Entertainment would like to clarify that any and all answers presented today are true to the best of the speaker’s knowledge. They are things even Miss Turner doesn’t know or even upper management, so please do not press for answers during those questions. The reasons why will be given during this questionnaire.”
Jessica walked up to the podium as the line approached. “Hello, sir,” she greeted. “What is your question?”
A young man pulled out a small Polaroid from his coat, then leaned his mic towards his mouth. “So, during the whole Festival of Tomfoolery incident, there was a small remote that messed with this.. bell ringer ghost guy,” he explained, holding up a blurry picture for the woman to see. “What is this thing and why did it give him such weird.. convulsions.. hallucinations.. Whatever made him think he was on fire.”
Jessica sighed. “That is–was– an employee-level control panel for the lantern on the clock tower,” she clarified, rolling her eyes. “One of them thought it would be ‘funny’ to make the bell ringer suffer and cranked up the heat on the lantern. Since those two are connected to each other, it didn’t take long for the same heat to reach the ghost as well. It doesn’t literally make him spontaneously combust, but it does give quite the sensation. Don’t worry about the instigator doing that again, though. He’s been properly dealt with– And, by that, I mean he’s no longer an employee.”
“Th-Thanks,” the man stammered nervously, putting the picture back in his coat pocket. “I, uh, hope the bell guy’s recovery goes well.”
“We’ll have to see,” Jessica answered with a bit more warmth, her eyes tracking the change in curious interrogators. “And what’s your question, miss?”
A woman pushed up her thick-rimmed glasses. “Who exactly is in charge in the Kingdom area?” she asked in a nasally voice. “Because this judge is doing a very poor job, if he’s the one in charge.”
”Judge Glitch was only meant an enforcer of the law,” Jessica said flatly, adjusting her bow-tie. “He was only supposed to guide the knights and tend to the bell ringer, but this whole Gregory thing has made him go off the rails– Or more off the rails than usual, given some recent accusations. Due to Fazbear Entertainment wanting to abandon the establishment, however, it would not surprise me if he’s made himself the ‘king’ of that area.”
“Does this closure mean that no one is allowed to step inside?”
“Yes, it is closed to the general public,” Jessica responded. “However, management has decided to send a friend of Gregory’s back into the building for inspection. And, before you get any ideas, it was the girl’s choice to volunteer. I’m not sure why either, as that particular meeting did not involve me.”
The nasally-voiced woman simply nodded in acknowledgement and walked away. Another woman with a two-toned shirt took her place. “On behalf of every fan of Sun’s Traveling Wagon, I have to ask,” she prefaced as she smoothed out her platinum blonde hair. “What happened to Sun? Is he okay? Did he.. Did he survive?”
Jessica grinned. “Well, that I can answer right away,” she said cheerfully. “We have a few recent reports that state that Sun is safe and sound. He’s a little worse for wear, but he is surprisingly intact. We’re not sure where he is currently, but he was spotted hiding out in the employee’s lounge at Fazer-Blast on the night of the fire.”
The blonde stared wide-eyed for a moment, as if trying to imagine what that must’ve been like. However, a joyful smile partially returns as she rushes out of the line. While she returns to some friends on the side lines, another person steps up. He flips a page in his notebook and readies his pen. “Given that Sun is ‘alive’, I guess I’ll follow up with the obvious,” he began nonchalantly. “Does this apply for all four of your main stars? Or Vanessa and Gregory, as they were last seen with Freddy?”
Jessica bit her lip. “Those reports for those were.. less glowing,” she said slowly, her hand now rubbing the back of her neck. “Three of the four were noted to have been heavily damaged by the fire, while Freddy and Gregory have seemingly vanished into thin air. Same goes for Vanessa, for obvious reasons. We have received transmission from someone who sounds like Gregory, but it could be anyone down there.” She paused to let the man finish his frantic scribbling. “Do you need me to give you a more concise version of that answer?” she asked.
“No, ma’am,” the man replied as he shut his book. “I’ve got everything I need. Thank you.” He left quickly and quietly, making the line move up. A little girl jumped into an older person’s arms, waited until she was close to the mic, then clumsily grabbed the device . “Is the ghost man okay?” she asked slowly. “My brother got really worried about him. He said something about the grumpy bunny doing really mean something to him.”
“For all I know, the ‘ghost man’ is doing okay,” Jessica answered gently, leaning forward a little. “We haven’t seen any reports about any sad ghosts or very angry bunnies. The best we’ve got is a really big mess of wires and a new bunny tangled up in it.”
“Do you think that bunny needs help?”
“I.. don’t know,” Jessica murmured thoughtfully. “I’ll have to check with the team that’s sending Gregory’s friend.”
The girl gave a “thank you”, then hopped off her caretaker’s arm. A man in a clean-cut suit strolled up and took the microphone. “Speaking of Gregory,” he said straightforwardly, “I’m sure there’s one more thing we need to discuss: those charges of his that were mentioned on those uncovered recordings of that night. As there is a chance of Gregory being framed and/or manipulated by some unseen enemy of the company, will those charges be dropped?”
“If you are referring to the.. ‘disappearances’, then yes,” Jessica replied with a nod. “We have uncovered evidence of Gregory in the latter category. But, as of now, all charges might be dropped on account of him possibly being dead due to a number of potential fire-related injuries. This is why this upcoming inspection is crucial for this branch of Fazbear Entertainment.”
The crowd murmured. Some, approving the logic. Others, raising the obvious concern of a random boy being dead. One in particular raised her hand. “When exactly is this inspection going to be?” she asked as loud as she could.
”If all goes well with paperwork, next week,” Jessica called out to the hand. “If not, then this upcoming month at least.”
A flurry of more safety-related questions followed, which Jessica answered much more quickly. Every remaining detail of the mall was scrutinized. Every employee that was not mentioned was assured to be at the nearby hospital or back at home job-hunting. Any and all observed things from the camera footage was clarified– Aside from a mention of a possible “ghost family” guarding the bell ringer. That one couldn’t be explained due to how corrupted the evidential footage got at certain points. Was it the bell-ringer’s imagination somehow fraying the cameras? Was it the extra ghosts protecting him from future scrutiny from the mad-rabbit? No one was sure.
By the end of three hours, all of the questioners had run their throats dry. Jessica and the one in khakis shuffled their feet as the pain in their heels stifled their thoughts. Feeling the need to call it a day, the one in khakis gently grabbed the device. “Thanks for coming out today,” he stated tiredly. “If you have any more questions, please call the construction department of Fazbear Entertainment. Or don’t, I guess.”
“Thank you for having me,” Jessica wearily called out to the crowd, waving with a weak smile. She hobbled off the stage and sat down in a nearby metal chair. As everyone else left the large conference room, the man in khakis pulled up his own seat beside her. “You did great, Miss Turner,” he said, finally showing a smile. “I would’ve had such a hard time dealing with this crowd. So many questions being thrown at once!”
“That’s just a typical Monday for me,” Jessica laughed shakily, brushing back a strand of wavy black hair. “Except I usually have to deal with a full room of reporters or just a few concerned families. I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many.. average?... people before. Just... random citizens showing concern for our characters and employees. Not to mention Gregory and Vanessa! I thought only the reporters would show up because of them, but no!”
“Well, I mean, both of them were pretty well known locally,” the man in khakis chuckled. “Gregory and his mall shenanigans, Vanessa and her whole ‘Vanny’ schtick even after you stepped in and helped her refine it.. Even this Agonia guy was the talk of the town for a while! Really got people checking out that Princess’ Perch more than they needed too.”
Jessica furrowed her brow in thought. “You don’t think..” her voice trailed as she leaned forward.
“Do I not think... What?”
“You don’t think that Agonia could.. thrive outside the bell tower, could he?”
The khakis guy scratched his brushy head. “Well, now, that’s a good question,” he replied. “I will say, given what I’ve heard today, it sounds like he’d be fine as long as that lantern doesn’t go out. Err.. Does go out? Not too sure which is right here.”
“Considering how burnt the glass must be, I’m not sure either,” Jessica hummed. “It used to be that if it went out completely, then that means he’d be completely gone. There would be nothing for his ghost to tether to, so he just vanishes. Now, however–“ She paused. Her eyes drifted upwards. “For all I know, there’s a chance that he’ll stay here even without the lantern,” she continued grimly. “And I’m starting to worry that this new wire-tied rabbit is the reason why.”
“‘Worry’, huh?” the khaki guy asked curiously, leaning forward in his folding chair. “Why? What’d be bad about that robot-bunny giving him a better body to run around in?”
“Because of who’d most likely be ‘helping’ him control it,” Jessica answered solemnly, rising from her seat. “Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have much to discuss with Cassie. Have a good afternoon, Mr. Woodson.”
“You too, Miss Turner!” Mr. Woodson replied joyfully, waving his can of soda in the air. He chuckled to himself as he reclined in his chair. “Poor ol’ Fazbear needs to relax,” he laughed to himself. “Far as I’ve heard, Cassie sounds like the toughest little gal in the entire town. She can handle this dumb rabbit problem in one night and then some! What’s there to worry about that?”

He headed inside and encountered Ramona.
"Great job on the till earlier, Ramona!" he complimented her proudly.
"Thank you!" she said, feeling genuinely happy that someone had appreciated her hard work.
"Listen, I've got Kyle out back installing our wind turbine and piping. Why don't you see if he's in a better mood today? You know, ask him again to marry you?"
Ramona blushed. "I don't know... he seemed really against the idea. It was so spur of the moment. If I ask him again I might lose him forever!"
Pietro shook his head. "Trust me, he's in love with you. He'll say yes. Just ask him!"
Tumblr media
Ramona's hands shook as she once again took out her mum's ring and knelt before her boyfriend Kyle.
"Kyle, I really love you and I think you love me too. I know we haven't known each other long but I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I've thought about it and it isn't spontaneous now - I really want this. Will you marry me?"
Kyle smiled and took the ring, fitting it onto his finger. "I will. I'm sorry I made it awkward before. I don't know what was wrong with me because of course I want to be with you. Yes, I'll marry you!"
Ramona squealed and leapt into his arms in joy before running to tell the others the good news.
Tumblr media
The others were watching their newly-working TV, glad to have some entertainment at last. They were very happy for her and congratulated Kyle before he left 'to get the house into a fit state for Ramona to move into'.
She turned to her friends. "I hadn't even thought! I'll have to move out! Is that okay with you both?"
They smiled and nodded, reassuring her that they of course wouldn't mind if she went to live with her fiancé.

And as daylight broke the next morning, the first morning of Summer, the roommates sat down to breakfast and discussed mundane things like the weather.
Pietro is now 27 and has a crush on Lucas, Hob'rth is 26 and has the most chemistry with Bethany - we'll see what happens with both of those relationships when we get to the Turners - and Ramona is 33 and engaged to Kyle. Exciting stuff! Let's head over to the Turners' place...

The law in language: Rarriwuy Hick's groundbreaking TV role
Tumblr media
Despite over a decade in the entertainment industry, 'True Colours' is a career first for Yolngu woman Rarriwuy Hick who plays bilingual Arrernte detective Toni Alma.
Actor and activist Rarriwuy Hick loves language.
But in her 13 years on screen, Ms Hick has never actually spoken language. Until now.
The Yolngu woman takes on the role of Toni Alma in NITV’s upcoming drama series True Colours.
Alma, an Arrernte detective is sent to the fictional community of Perda Theendar in the Northern Territory to investigate the death of a young Aboriginal girl in a suspicious car accident.
Learning language
The series sees Ms Hick and other cast members move freely between Arrernte and English.
Flying to Alice Springs a month before filming, Ms Hick was taught language by Arrernte and Warlpiri woman Marie Ellis.
“She is fierce, cheeky and funny. But not afraid to growl at me. What you need in a teacher, just that real aunty energy,” laughed Ms Hick.
"She was so generous, she just wanted to best for me and believed in me. It was so hard and even in times when I was worried I'd get it wrong or screw up, she always reassured me.
"She was my rock, and when either of us became overwhelmed with it – we had each other to get through.”
Ms Hick speaks her own language, Yolngu Matha, which helped her grapple with learning Arrernte.
"We didn't really use much English in that space,” she told NITV.
"You can't use English words for Aboriginal language sometimes, it's hard to translate that. I just couldn’t feel it in my spirit.
“So, there was a beautiful exchange happening. When she was teaching me Arrernte, I would translate it to Yolngu Matha.
"By the time we were filming, I felt like a desert girl. I was speaking Arrernte whenever I could because I wanted to, it's a beautiful language to listen to, it's a beautiful language to speak.”

A Territory girl's dream role
For Ms Hick, the day producers called about True Colours was a dream come true.
"I'm an NT girl and have been acting for 13 years now. I have been dying to do a job in the Northern Territory. This opportunity came up and I knew I was in,” she said.
"This is the first time in Australia we're going to see on the screen a bilingual Aboriginal female detective."
Detective Alma is sent back home to investigate the girl's death. What follows is a complex mix of culture, identity, and the hardships of living in two worlds.
"You'll see Toni be challenged and sometimes frustrated with being a Blak woman in a very white space," she said.
“Whether that is being a detective and finding the challenges of how complex our families can sometimes be and the issues that surround the relationship between police and Aboriginal communities.”
Culture and community on-screen
The series delves into cultural customs and law.
"It's so important that we finally have these opportunities to talk about our very old and ancient laws... There are so many layers to our law, to our culture and custom,” said Ms Hick.
“It’s a complex system. I’m really excited to showcase that and see that portrayed on screen.”
While she has over a decade of experience in the entertainment industry, many of those cast alongside her made their acting debut in the series, including many Alice Springs community members and Arrernte people.
The cast includes Senior Arrernte Elder Sabella Kngwarraye Ross Turner, Arrernte woman Natalie Pepperill, 18-year-old Arrernte and Waayni woman Janaya Kopp, Arrernte man Grant Wallace, Siobhan Breaden, Kurt Abbott and Arrernte man Warren H. Williams.

Setting a standard
Country music star and radio personality Warren H. Williams co-created True Colours alongside writer and director Erica Gylnn.
The series was a ten-year labour of love, and, according to Ms Hick, sets a new standard on how to incorporate Indigenous people, perspectives and practices into filming.
"This story belongs to Arrernte people, it's their story,” said Ms Hick.
“There were Blackfullas everywhere, in every single department. That in itself was really important.”
Ms Hick said that in the creation of the series, culture was prioritised and respected.
"There are complex kindship systems within the show but that was present offset as well.
"Making sure that there were the right actors in roles, there are some people that Warren H. Williams couldn't speak to so they had to cast someone who he could, culturally, speak with,” she explained.
"We're bringing in cultural custom into a film industry environment. It's the first time in my 13 years of acting that I've seen that.
"That was exciting to know that we can actually do that. It is possible that we can work in both worlds and have our culture in these different spaces.”
Ms Hick said it set a precedent for how the industry can move forward and continue doing things “in culturally, the right way”.
Date to debut
True Colours is a co-commission by NITV & SBS – the perfect home for the series, according to Ms Hick.
“You know how they have Netflix Originals, this is an NITV Original... I love NITV, my family and I are always watching it and I’m really excited that this is going to be its home,” she said.
Ms Hick hopes that the show can not only showcase the importance of daily cultural practice, but the “struggles we face trying to live in two worlds that are so different to each other”.
"For Arrernte people, I hope that they watch it and are proud to see their families on screen, their stories being told and hearing their language," she said.
“One of the biggest things I’ll take away from True Colours is the talent we have here in Australia...
"I hope the world gets to see that, and all of Australia. We need to keep encouraging our stories, and especially First Nations stories.”
