After Graham had left, Dudley got straight on the computer to transfer the §1000 deposit over to the private school and secure his children's places.

Then it was straight upstairs to help Rigel with his homework.

"This is more important than ever now, Rigel. Your sister already has an A so she's fine, but they will expect you to always do your homework and keep your grades high in the private school."

Rigel grimaced. "But what if I don't understand it, Dad?"

"Then tell the teacher and tell me. I'll help you however I can, okay? I love you."

The Headmaster, Graham Lawrence, arrived just as Dudley got home.

Dudley greeted him and brought him inside for a sparkly salmon dinner. He schmoozed the Headmaster with reassurances that they could afford both the deposit and the fees.

Strangely, without even needing to see the house, the Headmaster accepted Robin and Rigel into the private school! I don't think that has ever happened to me before. That's the power of sparkly food and the Apartment Life greetings, I suppose!

The kids both got home from school long before Dudley and spent more time bonding as siblings. Rigel had a want to make a friend, which he managed to fulfil thanks to his big sister. Buddies!

Dudley got home at 5pm with a promotion to Horoscope Writer! Congratulations Dudley!

The next morning, Dudley made the phone call to the private school and then the family spent time together watching TV in the lounge. It was Rigel's first day at school and he was a bit nervous about it, especially if he was going to be leaving anyway.

Robin reassured him. "Don't worry, you'll make friends wherever you are. Best friends. Best friends forever, even! People here are really nice and I'm sure the kids at the private school are as well."

While they ate dinner that night, Dudley broached a topic he'd been thinking about for a while.

"So, kids, I've been thinking about your schooling. We have a university nearby now, and there's a private school that feeds into it. Now that Rigel is grown up, I really think it would be beneficial for both of you to go to the private school. I'm going to invite the Headmaster over tomorrow and see what I can do to get you both in."

As a Knowledge Sim, Robin was all for the idea, although she would miss her friends at the Wildflats School. Rigel wasn't really sure what to think as he hadn't been to school before, but if his dad thought it was the best idea then it probably was!

When Robin came home from school, she gladly took over caring for Rigel while Dudley popped out to PlantSim Produce to get them some fresh food for dinner.

Robin heard the bus honking outside so she rushed off to school.

Dudley had the day off so he stayed home to teach Rigel his last toddler skill - talking. His aspiration was in the red after his break up, so they had to take the slow route with no Smart Milk, but Rigel picked it up in the end!

Their new place had three bedrooms, which suited them well after their previous situation. There was only one bathroom - downstairs - but they would manage. There was even a hot tub installed outside! All in all, it was a well-appointed rental.

After looking around, Dudley came into the lounge where Robin had already settled in to watch TV.

"What do you think?" he asked.

"Dad, it's great! We're going to be really comfy here."

Round 11 - Summer 3 - The Tomlinson Family

Dudley, Robin and Rigel had moved to the newly-constructed semi-detached home opposite PlantSim Produce. He was happily playing with Rigel when the landlady Merilyn arrived.

"Oh, hi!" he said. "Sorry, let me just put my son down."

He got the paperwork signed with the landlady and shook her hand.

"Thanks for this. We needed somewhere pretty urgently so we really appreciate your help," he said with a smile.

Side note: Dudley and Rigel have both changed their names (back, in Dudley's case) to Tomlinson. I've retroactively edited Rigel's tags on the Round 10 posts just to keep things consistent.

At the end of the round, Pietro is now 61.

Later in the afternoon, Pietro stopped by The SandBar to relax.

He sat at the bar trying to avoid conversation with bartender Freddie (Pietro wasn't sure Freddie recognised him but he wasn't going to give him the time of day after what had happened with Talia).

Once he had finished his drink, he spent a few hours playing casual poker with some townies. When he suggested making it interesting, they agreed, and he managed to come out of it a few hundred Simoleons richer! I didn't even know he knew poker!

That, combined with the money he made from Stephanie running his shop for him, made him enough even on his day off to pay off the rest of the mortgage he had taken out. He's a very lucky man!

The following morning, Pietro decided to spend his first day as an Elder out on the town. It had grown so much since he had first moved here all those years ago and it made him extremely proud to see it.

He stopped by his neighbour Horacio's small used car lot to buy himself a cheap electric car. Some of his neighbours were already driving around town and he didn't want to be left behind!

He also decided to pay a visit to H1gh Sc0r3. Gaming wasn't really his thing, but he was always willing to support his friends' kids in their endeavours so he happily put a few Simoleons towards Megan's passion project.

Soon, Pietro's lovely curls had turned grey and he was an Elder! Happy birthday Pietro!

He spent the rest of the evening eating cake and catching up with his eldest two daughters, whom he hadn't seen for a while. He was disappointed Talia hadn't brought over Flynn to meet him, but understood it was past his bedtime.

"Freddie was so charismatic," Talia was saying. "I honestly thought he was in love with me. I can't believe he did that to me and Flynn."

Verity nodded sympathetically. "You're doing great, Tal. Don't let it get you down."

That night was Pietro's 60th birthday. He was pleased to be aging up and joining his friends Jennifer and Kyle in Elderhood after so many years of slogging to build their beloved neighbourhood.

He invited over his friends and family to celebrate with him. All of his daughters were there but after what had happened he didn't think it was appropriate to invite Dudley. It was a very tight squeeze in his tiny living room so they took the cake outside for Pietro to blow out the candles.

After paying the taxes and bills for the whole family, Pietro had very little money left and needed to go into work again. Thankfully, it was another strong day of sales and he pulled in §10,000 in profit - allowing him to pay off most of the mortgage he had taken out for Dudley in one go.
