I’m sure I’m not the first to say this but… I was thinking about Mando color symbolism on armor. And I was thinking about Cody changing up his colors. Do y’all know what grey is for in Mandalorian culture? Canonically? It’s fucking Mourning. Specifically the loss of a loved one. Now, who has he JUST lost in the Bad Batch timeline? Yeah. He’s been losing brothers this whole time, and stayed yellow. Even after Ponds. You know who that grey is for. Do with that as you will.

...you are correct. There is a bowel investigation contrivance which has been stage-managed to say "Queen Elizabeth, 1st and 4th June". That probably translates to something like "Sh*t. Queen's Dock (Liverpool)/Queen Elizabeth Dock (Hull), 1st and 4th June".* (Or even, as I mentioned last time: "Sh*t: Port Elizabeth".) As you say so eloquently, we are "dans la merde".

TBC, it's an invasion of privacy, misuse of NHS data, an unnecessary and highly invasive procedure, wasted public resources, a tax on private resources, victimisation, a scare and a deception.

Whether it is a law enforcement initiative, a tip-off or simply organised crime, the elaborate complexity of the whole thing suggests pervasive corruption.

I hope you will acknowledge that you cannot "fix things" here, be you even the most dynamic and effective individual alive.

The correct course, as I say, is to wrap things up and move out.

PS. I've deleted a couple of language apps for obvious reasons. I think that's a great shame and in some ways a bigger loss than the dehumanising and unnecessary hospital procedures. Both infringements are corrosive as far as trust in institutions and safeguards go.

not sure how to articulate this but i’ll try my best

honestly one of the best parts of npmd/ hatchet field in general is the potential for dynamics

like every character is so fun and charming that u could basically mix and match them however and it always works

prolly most obviously is the idea of jon matteson’s characters being a family, the idea of them all at thanksgiving is brill, but why stop there?

like i could just put names in a generator and every result has dozens of scenarios and possible dynamics

they could hate each other or be madly in love and either way be in character

Since there is no snow to be found anywhere at the moment, I decided to spend my last day of the year on the beach! It’s a popular spot in summer but on December 31st it was just me and Pandolf, and a fisherman in a small boat who occasionally waved at us from afar.

After my picnic I just read for a few hours, and eventually started feeling a bit post-apocalyptic due to the complete and utter silence + empty lifeguard chair standing next to me on the deserted beach like a quiet sentinel. It’s a nice feeling, just slightly eerie.

There was a little free library and I found this old battered copy of How Green Was My Valley which I’ve been meaning to read! I left an old Maurice Druon book in exchange which seemed fair.

Another surprise was finding out that this lake had tides. The jetty which was an island at first became accessible after a few hours and I was a bit puzzled. Where has the water gone?

I wanted to google it but there was no reception so I had to be 20th century about it and remember this question to look it up when I got home. I found that this lake is part of a wider network of reservoirs and hydroelectric dams—the resulting tide effect was very appreciated as it made it feel more sea-like! We were just missing salty wind, and a few seagulls to break the silence. Lakes are so quiet.

Since I couldn’t google the tide mystery at the time, I sat down very near the water and waited to see if it would rise or recede but the lake declined to participate in my scientific experiment and the water stubbornly stayed where it was.

I would have liked to stay and watch the last sunset of ‘22 on the lake but I had to be home before dark for hay distribution or face Pirlouit’s wrath—and then I was treated to a surprise mid-afternoon sunset. The sun was still pretty high but temporarily hid behind clouds for a darker atmosphere and the sky started to take on sunset colours for no reason. 10min later the sky was clear again, so it was just a little end-of-year present from the lake.

I hope everyone had a lovely quiet New Year if you’re into that kind of thing :) Or a loud tumultuous one if not!
