Hello, could I request prompt 5 of Hurt/Comfort for Bobby Nash x reader please
of course bestie! wrote this one on the plane and am pretty jet lagged now so it’s poorly edited lol
Pairings: Bobby Nash x GN!Reader
Warnings: injury, hospitals
Appropriate
Tumblr media
No one informed you that becoming a firefighter would permanently affect your reflexes. Particularly the act without thinking ones. So it didn’t come to much surprise to you or your team when there was an emergency on your day off that you would attend to it.
Off-duty saves weren’t particularly rare and most of the time all that came out of it were a few confused bystanders wondering how a civilian knew exactly what to do, but this time you seemed to have gotten yourself in a predicament.
Instead of only the parties involved in the accident leaving the site in an ambulance, you joined them too.
After your heroic move, the car that had slipped in a precarious manner, fell ontop your leg and most definitely broke a bone. The on duty EMTs patched you up to the best of their abilities and sent you off to surgery.
When you awoke from that with new metal screws in your leg that would take time and a lot of PT to get used to, your friend and colleague Ravi was already by your side, ready to get you anything you might need.
“Ravi, what the hell,” you groaned, shifting in your bed. “How did you find out about this?”
“After your sister moved you switched your emergency contact to me, I’m flattered you remember,” he said sarcastically. “I’ve been here since before you went in to surgery.”
“Sorry, must be the drugs,” you said with a wave of your hand.
“So an off-duty save huh,” he chuckled. “What happened to think before you act, Panikkar?”
“Out the window. I just reacted,” you chuckled. “Frankly, now that it’s happened to me I’m not surprised, it’s practically instinct.”
“What did I tell you,” Ravi reached a hand over to squeeze yours. “I called the team to give them a heads up. I think you’ll probably be getting some visitors in the next few days before you go home.”
“Good, hospitals are so boring and it’s not like I can go anywhere,” you pointed to your recently casted leg. “God the next while is gonna suck ass.”
“Yep, it sure is,” Ravi agreed with you and you rolled your eyes. He knew just how to make you feel better.
As Ravi had warned you, the next few days were filled with visits from everybody on the team.
Chimney came by with Maddie and Jee-Yun first, bringing you a much needed good cup of coffee and a sweet little get well card decorated by the young Buckley-Han.
The next day Hen came over. She brought a deck of Uno cards and you shared a few very heated rounds of the game which may or may not have ended in something closer to 52 pick up.
Buck came by next, he had offered to pick up some comfort items from your home and you practically melted when he brought you your dad’s old and worn college hoodie you’d had since you were fifteen years old. You both also spent time ranking the injuries the team had sustained at the firehouse, the list went on to your colleagues and was highly debated for the next few days after that.
Lastly Eddie brought Christopher over and their favourite telanovella downloaded on Eddie’s laptop for you to all watch together (not without many interruptions from you still trying to figure out what the storyline was).
After about a week and a half at the hospital on bed rest, Ravi was finally given the ok to move you back to your apartment. It took a lot of coordination to find a way to get you to fit into his car with the giant cast on your leg, not to mention him practically having to drag you out of the building. You were strong, but for some reason not strong enough to carry whatever the hell it was they wrapped your leg with.
When you were finally at home in your — thankfully — first floor apartment Ravi ordered something for dinner and you both sat on your couch to enjoy it.
“Hey Ravi, can I ask you something?”
“Sure, what’s up?”
You stopped eating your food, and stared down at your take our container.
“Do you know why Bobby didn’t come visit me?” you said quietly.
“H-He didn’t?” Ravi seemed confused.
“No,” you shook your head. “Everyone else came just like you said, I was actually kind of surprised.”
“Yeah, I’m surprised too,” Ravi nodded. “You guys are close, aren’t you?”
“I mean I thought we were,” you shrugged and picked at your food. “Just a couple night before the accident we had dinner together a-and I had a really nice time I’m just…worried I did something wrong.”
“I don’t think you did anything wrong,” Ravi shook his head. “Just talk to him, send him a text, ask him to come over tomorrow night.”
“Isn’t that a bit presumptuous,” you raised a brow with a chuckle.
“You have a broken leg that’s casted all the way to your thigh, that’s not hot,” Ravi deadpanned. “Just text him.”
“Fine,” you pulled out your phone and typed up a text, having it proofread by your friend before sending it off. “And now we wait.”
The next evening you heard a knock on your door followed by,
“Hey it’s Bobby, spare key still in the same place?”
“Yep,” you called back, thankful he had asked. It was a nightmare to walk with a cast.
The lock of the door clicked and Bobby stepped inside with a a bag of what you assumed to be dinner, before closing the door behind him and locking it.
“Someone ask for room service?” he teased and you couldn’t help but raise your hand. It was definitely better than the hospital food and take out.
“I brought extras so I’m pack them up in the fridge and you just heat them up when you want to eat.”
You nodded at his instructions, but were perplexed by how normal he was acting.
“Hey Bobby, before we eat can we talk?” you asked.
“Yeah of course,” he said after putting the extra food in the fridge. “What’s up?”
“Why didn’t you come visit me at the hospital,” you blurted.
Bobby looked like he was expecting your question and sighed, rubbing the back of his neck with his hand.
“Would you believe me if I said it would have been too hard for me to see you in a hospital bed?” he asked.
“If that’s the truth,” you nodded.
“It’s just,” he paused. “I-After our dinner I wasn’t really sure where we stood. We never really talked about it, it just happened.”
You nodded, that was true, one thing had led to another and you didn’t have a lot of time to talk about what the implications of your dinner meant for your friendship.
“And I knew if I stepped into that hospital room I wouldn’t be able to be just your Captain. Or...just your friend.”
“Bobby,” you patted the seat next to you and encouraged him to come closer.
He did, taking his seat and watching as your took his hands in yours.
“I just wasn’t sure what was appropriate,” he whispered.
“I don’t care. I just wanted you to stay with me. I still do,” you said quietly, allowing your forehead to rest against his.
One of Bobby’s hands slipped out of your own and came to cradle your face.
“I’m so sorry I didn’t come.”
“You’re here now,” you smiled.
He leaned in the few inches further and closed the space between you, pressing a soft kiss to your lips.
“And I’m not going anywhere.”

In the 'behind the scenes' 2020 teaser for DA:D, at timestamp 3:05 we see a Grey Warden/warrior character doing a shield/blocking move (with Grey Warden griffon heraldry) and then Jee Young Han does a voice line for her character Bellara:
"No no no - it's okay! That's the good kind of rumble."
Could this line be to do with the tremors of unknown cause which have recently been creating disturbances in the Andefels? It sounds like at this point Bellara is talking to another character (the PC?). They're in a place where they have been hearing a series of ominous rumbles (in the ground?). At the time this line is said, they hear another rumble, but Bellara is able to tell that it's not the ominous/bad kind (perhaps indicating that she's a dwarf, Stone Sense?) and reassures the person she's speaking to that this particular one isn't the kind they need to worry about. In the background of the video we then hear some kind of rumble or growl SFX.

Howard 'Chimney' Han headcanons & thoughts
Let me start this post out with a heads up because I'm sure something I say here is going to upset someone. I've seen how divided some of this fandom is on Chimney. NOTHING I SAY HERE SHOULD BE TAKEN AS ME BASHING A CHARACTER. I have several opinions on Chimney. My opinions and feelings on Chimney are VERY complicated and I'll do my best to explain them all.
And now, let me begin with the question posed to me by @happilylovingchaos
Heritage: Because he lost his mother so young and he stayed in the United States instead of returning with his father back to South Korea after her passing, his exposure to his heritage was limited (and rather tainted) despite another family taking him in. Because of this, I'm very sure his feelings towards his heritage is complicated - he's proud of where he comes from, he'll happily answer questions or discuss it if people want to hear it.
I do fully believe he intends to make sure Jee-Yun is aware of and connected with that portion of her heritage, he does still hold it close even if he doesn't feel as connected with it himself. Additionally, I think he uses the language pretty fluidly, kind of like how Eddie occasionally slips in a Spanish word, Chimney slips in a Korean word or phrase when he thinks it matches what he wants to say more. That said, I don't think it's something he uses often.
Other: For all that the show frames Chimney as the funny guy who takes nothing seriously, ESPECIALLY when paired against Hen, I don't think he is. He's not the comic relief, he's not the guy that's always joking around. And I see that misconception a lot in the fandom as well. He definitely uses humor as a coping mechanism, don't get me wrong, but he's usually the one balancing Hen's more wild ideas. He acts as her balance - her savior complex versus his need to stay well within the bounds he's been given because he knows and has seen what can happen if he oversteps those bounds for even a moment. Better read as her savior complex versus his survivor's guilt.
He's not fit to be a full time captain. He did passably well as interim captain in the show, however he has the tendency to focus on the wrong things and he tends to freeze when he's under pressure and asked to make the calls. If he worked on that, he'd make an amazing captain. Personally, I think he should be paramedic in charge for a-shift at some point. He'd thrive in that position. However, to do so would mean he would have to take a step back from the rescue (firefighter) portion of his job to focus more on the medical side and I just can't see him doing that.
He does owe Buck an apology for punching him during the situation with Maddie. But not because it was uncalled for. Yes, he shouldn't have hit Buck because frankly, I'm half sure at the time Buck didn't know where the hell Maddie was, it was just another time that she'd up and ran away like she always did when he was little. However, in the situation? I understand why he did. He shouldn't apologize because oh he hurt Buck and Buck's everyone's favorite - he should apologize because it was a moment of high emotion and they both should have communicated better. He isn't a terrible person for reacting as a worried partner who wasn't being told the truth. It was just a shitty situation. For everyone.
This one is just fun. He's the reason Buck trained Ravi the way he did. Chimney certainly didn't give Buck an easy time during his probationary year, and Buck took that to heart. He's tough enough to handle the job because of how Chimney helped train him in his mind, so of course he paid it forward. I'm pretty sure Chimney got a laugh out of the stories when Hen told him.
Chimney handles being the partner of a domestic abuse victim beautifully. He knows that sometimes, things are going to happen that trigger a memory or reaction that don't make a whole lot of sense. The fact that he's been shown to roll with the punches and let Maddie make the calls on how fast they do something? Beautiful. I adore their relationship SOLELY for Chimney's side of it and how considerate he is of the fact that he hasn't been there, he doesn't understand everything she's been through. But he still tries to make sure she knows she's safe and loved and valued. He is exactly the kind of partner she needed after what she lived through with Doug.

AN ~ In honour of my return to this hellsite (affectionate) and being immediately dunked in 911 feels, I find myself afflicted with the desire to write like i haven't done in months ! haphazardly taking prompts (but no promises) ... in the meantime, have a lil Maddie / Maddie & Hen at the Madney wedding
tw for mild / vague references to Do*g
-
“Thank you. Thank you.” Maddie smiled, waving away her stylist one last time. For the thousandth time she touched the miniature carnation tucked behind her ear. Her carefully, lightly curled hair gently seemed to embrace it. The perfect last minute touch. She admired it in the mirror, and felt her heart squeeze. She was so much more grown up than last time.
Last time. For a moment, it was as if looking into the mirror took her back in time. Looking into the eyes of her younger self, beaming and swishing the dress around herself with no real idea of the monster's den she was about to step inside. Well. Further inside. She had felt so deliciously rebellious at the time and independent – striking out on her own and all that. It hadn't even mattered really that her family couldn't be there. It had seemed more fun that way even, like they were eloping. Doug had been a romantic back in the day, or at least it had seemed that way. And she – she'd been a surprisingly, embarrassingly naïve … girl. Barely more than a child.
The door swung open, interrupting her reverie and snapping her attention to the redness and the tears about to spill down her face.
“No, no no!” Hen ordered, swooping through the room. “Don't cry, you'll ruin your face!” She snatched up a wipe and cradled Maddie's face between her hands, dabbing pointedly at the naughty tears that wouldn't stop burning. Maddie tried to smile it off but her face wouldn't make the right shape, and Hen's teasing bluster softened. “You okay?” she asked.
“It just- “ Maddie searched for the words. For the gratitude that Hen had stood between herself and the mirror and whatever spiral she'd just let herself get sucked down. “It took me by surprise. Bringing back some stuff.”
“Doug stuff?”
“Yeah.”
Hen crooned gently in her throat. She almost would have pulled Maddie into her, were it not for the absolutely stunning outfits both of them were in and the lack of time and dry-cleaning facilities to sort out getting the tears and foundation off them before the ceremony.
“Doug can't hurt you any more, Maddie,” she promised instead. “He's dead.”
“Yeah. He is.” Maddie clenched a fist. In spite of herself, it still felt good to know that. “I just wish- but then again -” She sighed, and gestured fruitlessly. “It's complicated.”
“Now that, I understand,” Hen assured her. “'Cause it brought you here, didn't it?”
Maddie nodded. Hen stepped aside from the mirror, and for a moment she nearly flinched, but she didn't see her young innocent ghost this time. She saw herself as she stood, with wiser eyes and a mother's body. She stood a little taller on instinct, and Hen smiled.
“You brought yourself here, Maddie,” she reminded her. “You fought for this. For Chimney. For Jee. You fought for a life where you're loved and respected and free. And where you save lives, every single day. 'Cause you're a badass. And I won't have you giving that asshole an iota of credit for that, okay?”
At that, Maddie had to laugh. Her heart still squeezed, but it was more of that full to bursting kind of squeeze. Now she couldn't remember feeling that, the last time.
“Hey now,” Hen continued, and the teasing tone was back now. “Mascara can't tell the difference between sad tears and happy ones. You keep those inside until after the pictures, Mrs Buckley-Han.”
“Yes, Captain,” Maddie agreed, though she could make no promises with the path she was on. At least her smile was back, as well it should be. Mrs Buckley-Han. She'd fought for this.

you asked for screaming i gave you screaming but now it’s my time to cry over the smile buck had when he was looking at the buckleys and the hans with jee like he looked so hopeful he’s gonna KILL ME
I was in literal tears!! I felt that ache of longing so badly. 😭❤️
Oliver and Jennifer knocked that scene out of the park.
Maddie remembers a better time, and Buck never really did. Not knowing what his family could be like if Daniel had lived.
And now for him to see it and question what could have been was overwhelmingly sad and made me want to hug him.
I think the one thing that no one seems to grasp is that grandparents are a different breed than parents. I see it now with my own parents. They weren't bad parents, but they were young when they had us and had a lot on their minds. They weren't ready.
Now I see them with our younger cousins and nieces and nephews and think, why couldn't they have been like this with us?
So I get where Buck is coming from, that sense of loss of what could have been if, it's really painful to watch, I really want better for him, better than what the Buckleys were willing to give him. 🥺❤️

911 Characters + dogs you think they should own
okay im sooo sorry it's taken me so long to reply to this but i wanted to really mull it over and i've been thinking about it a lot and i've come up with a basic list for the main chars (+ a few that are Main In My Heart) i've paired off the canon couples since they would be getting the dog together.
bobby (and athena, but i'm putting bobby specifically because athena is allergic to dogs and thus this is His dog) - Chinese crested dog (i originally was debating between bichon and toy poodle but then i saw the error of my ways) bobby rescues this older, a little bit in need of some tlc chinese crested and it's perfect because they're a pretty hypoallergenic breed (the hairless ones at least, which is what bobby rescues), athena is hesitant about the dog at first,
henren - golden retriever / mix, i know they had a smaller dog in the past but personally i think they should have a medium/large dog next, a rescue who is a little older (past puppyhood/young adult bc hooo boy you don’t need a puppy and a baby at the same time), idk if it’s a full golden or a mixed breed with some golden in it but it’s a very even tempered fluffy dog who’s a total sweetheart (if sometimes a little stubborn about moving… i’m not speaking from any person experience what are you talking about)
madney - staffy mix, okay i’m giving credit to maddie (@thebuckley-hans) for getting me on the madney getting a staffy agenda and also the wonderful staffy mix at my work who is an ANGEL. again they rescue a little older of a dog (bc i am NOT subjecting my blorbos to puppy & young child i’m not doing that!!!! getting a puppy when you have a baby is a trend that needs to die out imo <3 why would you subject yourself to that On Purpose)
bonus for madney - i also think they should get a boston terrier, maybe a little later when jee is a little more grown up, bc hooo boy bostons can be fucking wild but i have a soft spot for bostons and also THE madney ep... boston... yeah
eddie - english bulldog. this is based on approx nothing except for the fact that we had our bulldog regular, George, at work recently and i thought it would be funny if eddie somehow ended up with a bulldog and i’ve been stuck on this concept ever since
buck - irish wolfhound. this is absolutely me projecting my captivation on the breed that ive had for so long (my original want for him was a newfoundland, for uh, similar reasons, but i feel soooooo bad putting on in california) i just think he should have a Real Big Dog (as @scattered-winter has put it, a dog that could just lie on him and be like a weighted blanket)
ravi - okay i have two VERY different vibes for ravi that i cannot decide between. one is a border collie, theyre... very intense but i think he would go all in on the training, it might be a little challenging with his long shifts though, they dont do well with being left alone/boredom but he could have a pettsitter situation. now on the COMPLETE OPPOSITE END OF THE SPECTRUM, i could also see ravi with a little spoiled purse dog, i'm thinking lhasa apso? (am i biased bc one of my dogs is supposedly 20% lhasa, maybe) i think he would would dote on that dog sooo hard and spoil her and she have little spa days and maybe her and bobby's dogs are friends......
lucy - shetland sheepdog. i cannot explain it but i got it in my head of her having sheltie(s) and its stuck like glue. she just has the Sheltie Person Vibe I CANT EXPLAIN IT
may - mixed breed as a bonus i think may should have a scruffy lil mixed breed, not small small but like medium small. just a scrungley guy (maybe a cairn terrier mix?)
okay yeah!! i think this is it!! apologies again for the long ass ramble and the delayed response but i thought about this a lot and im just!!! thank you for this ask!!!

I don’t know what this is, but blame the height chart from the previous episode for getting me in my feels. I’m still not sure how I feel about it but it’s basically a phone call between Chimney and the owner of the home he wants to buy from the episode. And since the original character doesn’t know Chimney personally, he’s referred to as Howard mostly since it’s his pov.
I might post this on ao3, which would be a good idea since I need to know how to actually do that properly pretty soon. This was just an idea I had so here we go!
6x09 coda, original character pov. Canonical character death discussed from the episode.
Andrew Miller always loved to decorate for the holidays. It was something he enjoyed doing with his family, seeing how excited his mother would get to put the Christmas tree up and see the joy on her children’s faces. While his Aunt Dottie always had a solemn look in her eyes when she would come see them, she never let her story cut into their enjoyment of the season.
At 72 years old, he was having a little more trouble getting around. Luckily his granddaughter had come over, regaling him with a story about her newest love interest while adding some ornaments to the tree outside their yard.
The door opened and his son stepped out, “Hey dad, phone’s for you!”
Andrew nodded towards him before turning to Sarah. “I’ll be right back, kiddo.”
“Okay, gramps.”
Andrew went inside and took the phone in hand. “Hello?”
“Hi, is this Andrew Miller who owns the house on 387 Nottingham?”
Andrew closed his eyes and shook his head. This was not how he saw his day going. “Look, I don’t know how you found me, but-”
“No, no, sir, listen. My name is Howard Han, I’m with the LAFD. I recently went to the house on a call. Don’t worry, the house was fine, just a short in the wires caused it to keep dialing 911.”
Andrew scoffed in disbelief. “Of course. I’m sorry if it caused you any trouble.”
“Not at all, sir. I was just…I found myself really interested in the house and not for the reason you’re thinking.”
“Oh?” Andrew took a seat on the chair beside the table where the phone sat.
“My long time girlfriend and I, we have a little girl and we live in a one-bedroom apartment that I’ve had since, well, since way before either of them came into my life.”
“Oh, how old is your girl?”
“She’s almost 2.”
“Ah, I remember when my kids were that young. It’s a fun age.”
Over the phone, Howard laughed. “Tell me about it.”
“So, why are you calling exactly?” Andrew had a feeling he knew, but at the same time, his Aunt’s face in his mind kept him from jumping the gun on whatever this man was speaking about.
“Well, with our daughter, her name’s Jee-Yun, growing, we’ve been looking into buying a new house. I saw your house and just…I don’t know. It spoke to me. And I know the history behind it, but I kept thinking about how perfect it would be for our family.”
Andrew hummed slightly. “Oh? And what do you know about the history?”
“That’s kind of why I wanted to call you. I’ve heard so many different stories, but I figured maybe you would know the real one.”
Andrew, of course, knew the legend behind the house. He didn’t know why no one ever bothered to find out the real truth. Or maybe people just wanted to glorify a family tragedy.
“I suppose my family’s tragic accident isn’t as exciting as a supposed murder, is it, Mr. Han?”
For a moment, there was silence. “Sir?”
Even though he didn’t know the man over the phone, something inside him told him that this was his chance. His chance to make sure his family’s story was corrected. It was the least he could do for his beloved aunt.
“Their names were Michelle, Lynne, and Jane. We called Lynne ‘Linnie’ and Jane ‘Janie.’ And their mother and father loved them. There was no murder at that home, Mr. Han. Yes, they did pass away with their father, Charles, but no one was killed.”
“Would you mind telling me what happened?”
Andrew could feel his son’s hand on his shoulder and he looked up to confirm he was okay. His son nodded, but didn’t leave his side.
“It was so close to Christmas. My Aunt Dottie was home wrapping presents and Uncle Charles had taken the girls out for ice cream. Even though it was cold, little Janie insisted on a treat. She had gotten a gold star on her class certificate so it was sort of a celebration treat. The other two weren’t going to go, but my uncle knew getting all of the girls out of the house would allow her to get the wrapping finished.”
Howard didn’t interrupt, which he was thankful for. If he could get through this story without pausing, it would be helpful. “Anyway, it was a rainy night, very rainy. The roads were slick and unfortunately a car bumped into them and Charles went off the road. They didn’t make it.”
“I…I’m so sorry to hear that, sir.”
“Please, call me Andrew.”
“Andrew. So…what about your Aunt Dottie?”
“She was devastated. Never the same after that. Once the funeral was over, she packed her belongings and left. Refused to sell the house or go back inside. She kept it until the day she passed on a year ago.”
“So you’ve been holding onto the home for her?”
Andrew shrugged, despite Howard not seeing him. “That and I didn’t want to put it on the market yet. I knew the lore and that no matter what I tried to say, the vultures would be out swarming. I couldn’t do that to her. She had done so much for me over the years, I felt it would be a disservice to her memory. To my Uncle and cousins.”
“Understood.”
“I haven’t been back there since…gosh, I think since 2012 when I was checking on the wires. Probably the reason there was a short since I hadn’t been back there in so long.”
“Listen, um, I was going to ask you and see if I could convince my girlfriend to at least look at the house. Would you be willing to take an offer on it without any of the…hoopla of putting it on the market?”
Andrew smirked, “If she’s not concerned about the history that no one else seems to care to learn about, go for it.”
“I can be pretty convincing when I want to be.” This earned a chuckle from the both of them.
“Listen. You can go to the house with her and if she agrees, then we’ll talk further. I appreciate you listening to my story, Mr. Han.”
“Of course. I’ll contact you soon. Thank you for trusting me with your family’s story.”
Months later, Andrew convinced his son to drive by 387 Nottingham. He could see a group of people with paint buckets and other tools needed to clean up the home. An older man stood beside Mr. Han on the porch, smiling as a brunette woman he recognized from previously meeting leaned into his side. On the lawn that once was unkempt, two men chased a tiny toddler as she giggled in delight waving a clipboard around.
Seeing this, he nodded, knowing he had done right by his aunt. The house would be a home again.
