Ok ok okok so there's a big patch of japanese knotweed (invasive) in the public park area where i live
cutting it down isnt really an option bc japanese knotweed thrives on disturbance like that
however, would introducing a fast growing native like virginia creeper help suffocate the knotweed? i know the virginia creeper has been know to kill plants because they can no longer get sunlight
I would love thoughts and opinions on this, especially from more experienced planty people

since edwin is very closed off, except for when he’s with his best friend, charles, costume designer kelli dunsmore reflected his buttoned-up mentality through his bespoke suit, complete with bowtie and collar. edwin’s outfit, along with charles’ period garb, were designed to help them stand out more in modern day port townsend. “i knew edwin would, because no one dresses like that now,” says dunsmore.
Tumblr media
dunsmore wanted everything about charles to feel “a little bit cool and underground,” from his union jack and the who bull’s-eye patches to his checkerboard pins. his little cross earring and chain on the outside of his shirt are also meant to be homages to the ’80s.
Tumblr media
in the show, crystal’s hero color is purple, which you’ll notice in her velvet coat and long silk letterman jacket, which dunsmore thought of as a psychic cloak with hand-embroidered patches, including the wilting rose of england.
Tumblr media
her brown trench coat represents an explosion of everything going on in her mind. dunsmore decided the scribbled words and drawings are a result of crystal writing all over it to express her inner turmoil. there are even lyrics on there from the song she’s listening to on the tube when she meets the dead boys.
Tumblr media
david’s connection with crystal seeps into her wardrobe, too. since david wears a flower shirt, dunsmore’s team hand-painted flowers onto crystal’s black boots. and niko is wearing a dark sweater with flowers on it when we first meet her, as an homage to crystal. the costume department also drew the same rune pattern the dead boys use to exorcise david in episode 1 onto crystal’s trench coat and on the tab of her wool bomber jacket. “so she’s always got some sort of protection,” says dunmore.
Tumblr media
every color niko wears is inspired by what’s happening in that episode, from the green post-sprite exodus to blue when she’s feeling sad. niko only wears a white look, with nods to her japanese heritage, in the finale as a reset. the charms on her obi belt represent the colors she’s worn all season.
Tumblr media
night nurse is someone who’s in control all the time and likes things to be in their proper place. dunsmore looked to vivienne westwood for inspiration, since everything in night nurse’s world is a bit exaggerated. (by the way, niko’s orange monochromatic look is a nod to her scenes with night nurse and night nurse’s red hair.)
Tumblr media
since david is a demon, he finds a london boy that looks cool enough for crystal to find attractive. that meant dunsmore dressing him in a shearling jacket you’d find in “all the guy ritchie movies,” black pants and creeper shoes. the costumer’s mood board for “david the d” featured radiohead and amy winehouse and her husband blake, who often wore hats similar to the one you see david wearing in the show.
Tumblr media
pay close attention to monty’s leather jacket and you just might spot an inlaid crow feather or two.
Tumblr media
it’s not only esther who wears clothes with a gilt, old-gold color — cat king and night nurse also do as a nod to their villainy. (esther and cat king also have similar fur coats.) amidst her beauty, dunsmore wanted esther to be a little rough around the edges. she wears a cuff around her hand that’s adorned with a snake and a ring with teeth all around it to represent the teeth she’s collecting from all the little girls. her eye necklace is meant to be her witch pendant.
Tumblr media
mischievous as ever, cat king has (cat) eyes everywhere and is aware of edwin’s affection for charles. so he wears charles’ socks the first time he meets edwin.

Some Kenshi specific headcanons!
His parents died when he was a teenager, leaving him and his younger sister. That's when Kenshi really got into the yakuza business because there were no adult to shield him from criminal life, and he had to earn money to keep them afloat.
He's indifferent to cold weather but absolutely hates humid heat. Summers in Japan are his nightmare, especially since he has to wear long sleeves to cover up his tattoos. It is the main reason why he's so on edge and irritated most of the time.
He grips things in his hand when he's thinking and focused. God help Johnny if Kenshi's hand is on his thigh when it happens.
Has no skincare routine. He uses cheap 2-in-1 shampoo and washes his face with hand soap.
Not specifically interested in cars but he is a beast behind a wheel—difting, clutch kicking and obstacle course swerving. He knows how to drive.
Bit of an adrenaline junkie. He loves the kick but doesn't seek out danger purposedly.
He's absolute sweetheart with children, women and elders. He's that type to intentionally walk slow as he crosses road to make sure elders cross it safely too. He keeps children out of trouble and protects women from creepers. But because it is usually how the yakuza exploit people as payback from their help, people are very vary of Kenshi. So he learns to do it subtly over the time.
Very humble in nature but can be a cocky mofo when he wants to.
Constantly smells like cloves because of choji oil he uses for his katana
Has glass eyes. Johnny always tries to get him to wear wild and different prosthetics (once tried to put sharingan in him), but he just sticks to all white ones because he doesn't really show his eyes to others anyway.
He wears leather gloves to hide his tattoos on his hands.
He's a natural leader!!! This is a canon thing we need to pay more attention to!!!
Has strong sense of justice. He diligently tries to live an honest life after the yakuza and not break any laws but if it is absolutely necessary, he will take it to the extreme. Needs Sento? Doesn't wanna rob a dude blind but he's gonna break into his mansion and threaten him to give it to him.
Loves spicy food! Constantly trying to get Johnny's spice tolerance up.
I previously mentioned he never went to college, but he's always been effortlessly smart in school. He was a type of smart student who doesn't study for exams but still aces them.
He wants to have his own dojo in the future.
Very light sleeper bc old habits die hard.
I said he loves spice, but he doesn't really have that much preference in food and will eat anything. His sister cooks him debauchery of bento all the time, but Kenshi always wolves them down. (They both shouldn't be allowed in the kitchen. Bad cooking is in their bloodline)
Got no solid music taste but will listen to either angry metal or traditional japanese music on his own.
You know those plates of candies on the receptions' tables? He always grabs a candy off it to later give it to others. Many times, Johnny has received candies out of nowhere from Kenshi.
Sometimes has verbal altercations with the voice over accessibility feature of his phone.
Always gets into arguments with tsa agents bc of sento.

I think i am earnestly pro-weeds. gardens should have some weeds in them.
I talked about this in a recent post, but people try to keep their flower gardens with a bunch of just...open space between their plants. They want it to look "neat." In nature that just means there's a niche unfilled, and nature tries to fill up empty space as fast as possible. There are certain plants that specialize in it. They're often what we know as "weeds," but their tendency to pop up quickly in empty dirt isn't bad or evil, it's literally just their job.
I've noticed that random plants growing in your flower beds keep the dirt cool and moist and stop it from getting too packed down. Which makes sense, because plants aren't made to grow without other plants around. All of them evolved to occupy niches alongside other plants and to share space.
Also, a word about insect pests: I have further noticed that the Japanese beetles this year are mostly ignoring our vegetable garden, but they're going crazy over the huge mass of Virginia creeper covering our back deck. Maybe one reason for pest problems can be that the bugs don't have much else to eat?

I think for me, one of the big stumbling blocks I had for a long time with understanding the problem with antis and how they act is that I came from the world of anime fandom, and I have seen all the time how the idea that you're expected to be tolerant and accepting to straight men who are really into lolicon or slavery isekai or whatever in the name of "sex positivity" does in fact lead into a lot of normalization of genuine creepy IRL behavior, and ignoring red flags for those. Because I've never met a man where doing a lot of apologetics for his interest in fictional 10-year-olds as a grown man or why you just need to understand that in this fictional culture sexual slavery is totally normal etc. didn't come along with some grosser attitudes about real women in girls - look at how a ton of the guys in the first group, for instance, are always trying to argue that "Japanese culture" is actually A-OK with relationships between young teens and grown adults and it's just your mean feminist American bias that's getting in your way. (None of that shit's true about Japan, btw.) Like if it were a purely fictional-preference thing, they wouldn't be saying that about real-world relationships as well.
But see, I have literally never seen those kinds of arguments from, say, women who write fanfiction about teen/adult relationships. To me the problem with a lot of anti behavior is not just that it's pro-censorship (which I oppose on principle, I don't think any of the stuff mentioned in the previous section should be censored, for instance, much as the prevalence of lolicon in anime squicks me out) and that it's puritanical and sex-negative, but also that it goes after the wrong people. There IS a huge creeper problem in fandom but it's largely not coming from the predominantly AFAB and queer world of fanfiction and shipping, most of whom are pretty good at separating fantasy from reality. Or their "fucked up" ship might not even be "their" fantasy but just thinking a particular character dynamic is really interesting and it happens to fit into some particular "problematic" broader dynamic. Sometimes it's specifically that it's fucked up that we like, that's what makes it interesting!
But I do get uncomfortable sometimes when people take the fact that censorship is wrong, harassing people for what they ship is wrong, what you like in fiction is not necessarily what you want in real relationships.... and take it to the extreme of "fiction has no impact on reality / there is never ANY connection between what gets you off in fiction vs. real life" (I do think it's rarely an exact 1:1, but for some people there is a connection), or feeling like you're never allowed to just privately judge people for what porn they're into or they talk about or post about when they go horny on main, or decide you don't particularly want to have, say, cis men who are super into loli as a part of your social circle.
Because I've seen cases where men use that, and other people being shamed for taking issue with how they talk about it because it's not "sex positive" or "you're just like an anti" etc., to raise the temperature on what kinds of creepy and red-flag behaviors are allowed. Or like, people start to get suspicious of things these guys are doing to real people, and question themselves because they worry they're just judging them for liking loli.
I mean, is it wrong to think that a guy who is really into underage girls AND talks a lot about how culture needs to "normalize" it AND makes people feel bad for being uncomfortable with that particular interest of his, is throwing up a lot of red flags for how he's likely to view real women and girls and IRL sexuality?
Once again, I've basically never seen cases where a fanfic writer (other than in some cis-man-heavy fandoms like MLP) who is into some "squicky" dynamic feels like they have to constantly talk about it even to people who are uncomfortable, or feels like they're not "accepted" in a space where they can't constantly bring it up. Maybe they exist. But then maybe it's fair to say that behavior is creepy in a way that just peacefully shipping [whatever "problematic" dynamic] and writing and reading fic for it is not.
But I've seen people be like "a lot of you act like 'well that behavior is only problematic when cis het white men do it' well no i think you're still sex-negative if you're against ANYBODY liking it" and like I'm sorry but power dynamics matter, and HOW you talk about this and to WHOM matters and I think it's just kind of ignorant to act like there isn't a huge difference between how a lot of cis men in anime fandom talk about this shit vs. other kinds of people in fanfic fandom, and that the former is very much informed by the fact that cis men and especially cis het men have cultural power that they are throwing around in the way they influence those spaces.

Purple Cress
Cardamine douglassii
Also known as Limestone Cress, this species in the mustard family features clusters of light purple flowers in early spring and can be found in wet and swampy forests with calcium carbonate rich soils. It's native to parts of the eastern United States and southern Ontario, Canada.
The plants I photographed are part of an isolated population remaining in a tiny bottomland forest remnant in St. Charles County, Missouri. Unfortunately, the rest of the forest has been lost due to suburban sprawl and what little of it remains has many invasive species, including winter creeper, callery pear, and japanese honeysuckle trying to encroach from surrounding developments and outcompete native plants like this one.

ok im bad at staying focused . QUICK WEIRD HEADCANONS
With Players, upon respawning, the fatal wound is healed, so they don't fall into a slow and painful death-loop. Smaller non-fatal wounds are kept, but usually are scabbed or healed over. You can feel the pain of both. More powerful Admins can prevent most scarring and mark-leaving injuries entirely.
Scar has a curse that makes him retain all scars and injuries, regardless of death, or intervention. Only manually healing and treating wounds can help. Something he, typically, does not take the time to do.
Grian is partially deaf, with tinnitus, in part to . both Yandere High School and his love for tnt. He uses hearing aids and hides batteries for them...everywhere. including on people. he can just grab Mumbo or Scar and pull out a pair of hearing aid batteries from somewhere on their clothes, no matter the outfit. He knows Japanese and British sign language.
Stress is comedically always somewhere in the distance from Iskall. they say something stupid and you can just vaguely hear Stress shout something correcting them, or laughing at them.
Players have different religions. Players that spent most of their time in Survival, single player, normal servers, usually say "Oh my Dev", or "Oh my Void" interchangeably. Some massive Servers do not allow Players to leave until a certain age. those Servers usually have some variation of god. Gord (Yandere high school), Dream XD (dreamsmp), Lady Irene (minecraft diaries), etc. it is. human nature to rediscover religion i guess
Chat, which represents youtube comment section and live stream messages, are little vexes and wisps of code with intelligence. not quite alive, but vaguely sentient and omnipresent. They can take control of different things. Only some people can hear them, and unless you're a Vex hybrid, you cannot hear other people's chats. You can, however, see them when they're manifested as things.
Grian's Chat takes a different form to talk to him every season. His Chat started in Evo SMP, as sentient clayballs. Season 6 of Hermitcraft, baby chickens. Season 7, parrots. Season 8, eggs. Season 9, pebbles and rocks.
Scar's Chat just doesn't try to hide. They're Vexes. so is Cubs.
Doc's was creepers. they were still hostile, his Chat would just speak through them before they exploded or die. they found it hilarious. They have since changed to be goats.
Xisuma's appears as messages inside his helmet, while also talking to him.
Joe's chat is a comedical mix of things. Some are floating dish rags like ghosts. Some are just lime green panes of glass. Right now (s9/empires crossover) they are the cats. Usually they don't bother with a form.
Ren's Chat are dogs, AND dog stuffed animals. some of Chat didn't get the memo and thats ok.

who’s excited for stats so far?? i bet none of you are but i’m inflicting them anyway! ...under a cut.
so far, though, we have 198 separate submissions across 166 works!
so far the longest submission piece is 551 words long! wow! there are also another 3 submissions that are over 300 words long, and one piece has 797 words across 7 submissions! the shortest submission, to contrast, is 5 words long! that’s also great!
there are currently 4 artists that have had 3 pieces of art each submitted, and 8 artists that have had 2 pieces. that means there’s currently 137 other artists! oh sorry, while i was drafting this post we got a fourth submission for one of the four.
how about things anyone can go look at? there are currently 7 pieces of public art that have been submitted! four of them are from canada (and 3 are from the calgary specifically), one is in the netherlands, one is in spain, and one is in new york. the fourth canadian one also has copies in spain, japan, and arkansas. there are also 3 submitted buildings! two are in spain, and one is in thailand!
gender! we’ve got 122 pieces from male artists, and 32 pieces by female artists! yes that doesn’t add up to 166, the other 12 are either multiple artists, unknown artists, or i felt like a creeper trying to trawl through their tumblr/website and it wasn’t in their bio. sadly, we don’t have any openly trans, nb, or otherwise genderqueer artists submitted (where openly is “i could find it in the same 5 second google search to determine nationalities”)
even more niche stats! the largest submission (that isn’t a building, a cave, or public art) is 2.15 m (7 ft 1 in) x 34.14 m (112.0 ft) and weighs 4 tons! close behind it is another that's approximately 3.7m x 25.2m (12ft x 72.9ft) but weighs significantly less! i did not feel like mathing which had more square footage. the smallest submission (that is, a physical piece in real life, digital art can be insanely small) is 5.9 x 6 cm (2 5/16 x 2 3/8 in.)!
how about locations? excluding the multiple copies ones, there are 32 pieces located in the united states, 9 in spain, 8 in france, 6 in canada, 5 in england, 4 in italy, 3 each in russia, australia and mexico, 2 each in the netherlands, wales, scotland, and ireland, and 1 each in israel, finland, germany, portugal, poland, japan, austria, ecuador, thailand, latvia, singapore, belgium, and argentina! i know that doesn’t add up but there’s a lot of pieces in private collections, owned by the artist, or we just couldn’t find their location, sadly.
artist nationalities get a lot more variable! i did my best to look up every artist i could and include their birth country and the country they did their works in! except john singer sargent because he just didn’t want to settle down and i didn’t want to give him like six different countries.
starting off, we have 43 submissions by american artists! 18 by french artists, 17 by english, 8 each by canadians and italians, 6 each by russians and spaniards, 5 each by chinese, irish, and germans, 4 each by dutch, mexican and belgians, 3 by latvians, 2 each by finnish, polish, scottish, malay, serbian, and armenians, and 1 each by portuguese, japanese, austrian, ecuadorian, thai, swiss, argentine, cuban, kazhak, colombian, danish, and iranian!
i do not currently have stats for jewish artists for you, because i forgot to write it down my first time through wiki, and now i have to go through all ~140 articles and websites again. relatedly: there are 8 works by known-to-be-gay artists, but i’m already running into wikipedia going “well he sure did a lot of male nudes but he also might have had relationships with women” and i am feeling uncomfortable poking through people’s private lives so... i hope you don’t mind it i stop... counting..... i mean if they’re open about it i’ll write it down still.
how about the ages of works? there are 4 things from before the 1400s, 3 from the 1400s, 6 from the 1500s, 3 from the 1600s, and 2 from the 1700s! 5 from 1800-1850, 4 from 1850-1880, 10 from the 1880s, and 9 from the 1890s! 9 from the 1900s (that is, 1900-1909), 5 from the 1910s, 5 from the 1920s, 4 from the 1930s, 4 from the 1940s, and 6 from the 1950s! 3 from the 60s, 4 from the 70s, 7 from the 80s, 15 from the 90s, 12 from the new oughts, 17 from the 2010s, and 13 from the 2020s! and three ongoing projects!
and to wrap things up: there are 101 paintings, 12 sculptures, 17 what i’m calling installations (they’re often mixed media or unusual media, i would give examples but i feel like i would bias submissions), 6 photographs, 2 pieces of textile art, and 21 digital arts, drawings, or comics!

OVERWATCH- tickle headcanons and thoughts!
This was requested by one certain @somethingticklish! His blog is NSFW (like, extremely though) so proceed w caution hehehhahaahhah. ANYWAYS IT'S OVERWATCHING TIME!!! throwback to when I would play with my friends hahahshss.
Anyways, there's so much tickle potential in this franchise bro. YAYYYYY OVERWATCHHHH
Tumblr media
Sombra/Olivia Colomar
-Sombra is an absolutely ruthless ler!!! Her personality and penchant for hacking and scheming make this the TRUTH- she's so freaking mean like look at her gyuys.
-As a ler, Sombra utilizes her fast typing fingers... woof, those gloves. THOSE GLOVES MAN OH MY FUCKING GOD. She relishes in her lee's laughter, and will often cackle alongside them. When teasing, she always makes cheeky comments, whether it be snide remarks about "hacking into their system" or remarking things about their reactions and her observations around them. Def cracks her knuckles, wiggles her fingers etc in preparation to tickle others.
-Her favorite lees are the ones that are hard to crack. Tough guys (....REAPER HAHHAHAHGDVHGSVHJVSJ) who show stoicism, people with an impenetrable attitude (rhymes with creeper) and Reaper. I need to stop getting carried away with this lee Reaper agenda.
-As a kid, she wasn't tickled often due to her upbringing. Her addiction to hacking made her a sort of recluse- and her manipulative personality made it hard to approach people. You'd be surprised to find that she's ticklish at all. When tickled, she has a deep, loud laugh, and she will thrash and squirm away from her lee VEHEMENTLY. She absolutely hates being tickled, but is a menace, ranging from a little troll to an absolute actual sadist when tickling others.
Tumblr media
Cole Cassidy
-A huge switch. Uses his Southern drawl to tease and taunt his lers, and his experience with sharp-shooting to persicely tickle.
-However, there's only a select few lees he tickles, and one of those is Ashe- their tickle fights are legendary.
-He's an adorable lee, with a hearty but giggly laugh, and many reactions, will verbally protest a lot.
-BEARD TICKLES would be legendary holy shit. When teasing uses those like, southernisms like "puddin'" and like... ler Cassidy man he'd be so much fun!!
Tumblr media
Genji Shimada
(shout-out to my real life friend who's an absolute FOOL for the cyborg- you know who you are!)
-After his reconstruction, he's only ticklish in some places- but his cyborg technology allowed for some weaknesses to be exposed.
-During his robotization, Mercy had accidentally tickled him a few times.
-Teases in Japanese as a ler- and as a lee, will express his displeasure and react to tickling in the language.
-Kiriko and Hanzo know where he's most ticklish, and Kiriko tended to take advantage of the fact while they were training. The only person with this knowledge (to a lesser extent) as well is Mercy. She's so ler for him dude.
-Not ticklish in the traditional sense. Only some things tickle him, like repairs (from Mercyyyyy) and tickling on his non-weaponized parts.
-Tickles to flirt with girls and teases them in a mischievous and bantering way. (In his player eraaa)
-His exposed armpit in the Blackwatch skin is giving me thoughts.
Tumblr media
D.VA/Hana Song
-She is a bubbly lee. Curls up to avoid attacks, has a giggle-snort laugh and is overall a super cutie, and a typical tickle target.
-However, she is a very stubborn ler. She is super headstrong when it comes to tickling and tries to show no mercy. Teases like "Give up yet?" and uses traditional baby-talk.
-Dae-hyun and her have tickled each other at some point and she has lots of fun as a ler with her childhood friend- and in general, oh my god She loves to be a ler. Like, absolutely.
-Def teases Lucio a lot as a ler oh my god will beatbox while she uses his tummy as a turntable and all that jazz and make references to his music. Also a bratty adorable lee for him (he keeps making corny ahh gaming references in return).
-Kicks her legs around as a lee absolutely. Wears cute socks (like with strawberries and paw prints and the like) which makes this 110 percent more adorbs.
Tumblr media
Lúcio Correia dos Santos
-He's so ticklish. When fans ask about it, he answers honestly and exactly. But when he's tickled, he actively tries to suppress his reactions and jump away. Squeals when startled.
-MY LORD TICKLISH ARMPITS
-When tracing around his tattoo, he'll do a high pitched little hihihi omg.
-Very fun ler. Loves to tickle and laughs along with his lee dude. Also a DJ... experienced hands means good tickler (I could say this 283883 more times in the hc sheet but it's so basic at this point)
Tumblr media
Mei Ling Zhou
-Giggly as fuck, curls up holy shit. Will admit to accidentally being tickled. Laughter is very much a "hee-hee" lmao.
Tumblr media
Mercy/Angela Ziegler
-Mercy has an adorable tickle laugh. It's that happy, light giggle that makes you just wanna keep tickling... it's healing. HAHAHAHHAHAHA
-Ticklish bellybutton. And neck. And armpits. And sides. Everywhere - but these are her worst areas.
-Accidentally tickles people when healing them thoroughly lmao. One of the only people to know where Genji is ticklish - sometimes they like to tickle each other bc I said so.
-Ler in medical situations but barely. Like accidentally grazing a cut and whatnot.
-Lee as fuck otherwise. Thrashes around so much when tickled hard.
Tumblr media
Zarya/Aleksandra Zaryanova
-You know my favorite thing ever is a tough muscle girl who can't handle delicate touch. Well, no you don't, I just told you.
-A hearty, loud laugh. And ticklish armpits. They're exposed. And neck. And abs. Very loud laugher, and tough as well. Won't be broken under tickling, unless with those she trusts well.
//image limit :( //
Moira O'Deorain 👾
-First of all, claws. Second of all, attitude. Third of all, claws again. In conclusion, LER.
-Tickles... for SCIENCE. When experimenting on others, tickle torture was not out of the question. Knows her way around different crevices of her body, and is cold and ruthless when exploiting this weakness.
-Tickle interrogation scenarios with her though... ough
-I think if this goes on I can't post it
Kiriko Kamori 🦊
-Like her character, there are two sides to her when it comes to tickling lmao
-As a lee, she's laid back and takes it. As a ler, she's dangerous.
-Uses her Miko gift of powers and teleportation to her advantage in tickle battles with loved ones hehehe. When she was living with Genji, they tickled each other. SO. MUCH. UAUAUAUAUAU
-The castle was perfect for chasing each other around. Kiriko would probably be dissapointed that she can't really tickle him anymore though.
Reaper/Gabriel Reyes 💀
Reaper is so fineeeee I mean what I mean he's so... Anyways.... Whaaaat?
-Reaper's reputation makes him someone you wouldn't exactly want to tickle. The royal you- but that honestly doesn't include me. Tee hee hee. There's my instinct again, telling me that his bad tickle spot is his waist/sides.
-If he isn't kicking his ler in the face, he'll teleport away from them or go all Wraith form and avoid him using these smoke-and-mirrorsy attacks.
-During their time at Talon, Sombra enjoyed sabotaging (his words) their missions by teasing him with the notion that he's ticklish. She's his most frequent 'ler- he doesn't get tickled much, but she relishes in his surprising ticklishness- greatly.
-Doesn't ler- it's above him- unless provoked enough. Super ruthless.
Elizabeth Caledonia "Calamity" Ashe 🔫
-Ashe. Is. A. SWITCH.
-When he hadn't gained sentience, Ashe used to ask BOB to tickle her as a kid and he would comply- or try to. It's hard having clunky, mechanical hands, but he was doting and gave in. She'd laugh but fake it- it was all in good fun.
-Ashe and Cassidy both share an affinity for provoking each other with tickling. Their tickle fights are rough, scrappy and full of banter, and they absolutely love to expose each other and bicker during these occasional moments.
-She has a mean streak when it comes to tickling. Tickles her fellow Overwatch agents sometimes, and revels in it.
-Among the Deadlock Gang, tickle fights between Ashe and Cassidy would rage on- not EVERY DAY frequent, but the weakness was there to exploit.
-BOB will hold down Ashe's victims at her request.
-Very casual in her teasing and tactics but will always point out bad spots. Her skills in tickling aren't really skills. She just goes fast and is good at taunting.

Game Spotlight #7: Snatcher (1994)
Tumblr media
Acquired Stardust's next game spotlight is here! This time Ash takes a look back at the first title in Hideo Kojima's portfolio that one would probably call a 'Kojima game' in the Sega CD port of Konami's Snatcher, a traditional Japanese-style adventure game, with an examination of some of the history and culture around its American release!
Popular wisdom recalls that the ESRB was founded in 1994 in response to the moral panic surrounding the earlier 1992 release of Mortal Kombat, but this collective memory is missing a few details - namely that it wasn't Mortal Kombat alone that created the panic. It was a trio of games, all released in 1992, that caused the mainstream American culture to pay attention to the medium, which had begun to enter its edgy teenage phase, and it did not like what it saw.
Sega CD classic Night Trap was one of the most prominent releases in the then-popular Full Motion Video field, essentially an interactive campy d-tier horror movie that tasked players with protecting the residents of a house besieged by bumbling, uncoordinated creepers with the timely use of trap doors via security camera operation. It was vaguely sort of voyeuristic in the way that likely titillated the senses of teenagers in 1994 before widespread access to the internet, but otherwise mostly unremarkable and had little redeeming qualities. Konami's own Lethal Enforcers was the third game in the trio, a fairly standard arcade shooter featuring a realistic revolver-type handgun for players to use as a controller along with Mortal Kombat style digitized actors for its visuals.
Long before Columbine at the end of the decade, these three games were singled out as essentially the harbinger of the doom of a generation of American youths, allegedly promoting violence and sexual assault against women, prompting a series of US senate hearings the following year best summed up by Democratic senator from Wisconsin Herb Kohl's stern warning on the industry needing to reign itself in: "If you don't do something about it, we will".
It's certainly true that the video game industry had begun to experiment with new, different and edgier games that would increase in their edginess in the years to come (Duke Nukem for example was released a mere 3 years after the senate hearings), but it was abundantly clear to anyone who was paying attention (and indeed anyone with a brain) that this was largely a shallow echo of the ongoing satanic panic which had the country collectively clutching its pearls since the 1980s. Night Trap was certainly not endorsing sexual violence against women (and its content was far more tame than was asserted even by the standards of 1993), and Lethal Enforcers was simply a very standard arcade shooter following the digitized graphical trend with a realistic (though brightly-colored) peripheral. However, the industry responded to the hearings in relatively short order with the creation of the ESRB (that's the Entertainment Software Ratings Board) in September of 1994, meant to advise consumers on the content of the video games they were buying in an effort to help police the perceived wild moral decay corrupting America's youth. It was somehow in this climate that Konami decided that it was time to bring Hideo Kojima's PC-88 adventure game Snatcher (originally released in Japan in 1988) to the west for the first time with an upgraded port.
Tumblr media
While the video game scene in America had begun to show signs of maturing into its teenage years, Japan had at this point a well known pop culture machine churning out plenty of violent and sexual content (not without its own local controversy I might add), and was no stranger to content not meant for children. Typically when an American thinks of Japanese adventure games they think of Capcom's popular later Ace Attorney series, and might consider Snatcher the direct predecessor of it, but the genre has a very long history on Japanese PCs with a large number of games, often of a pornographic nature, released. It's a chapter of gaming history that is poorly preserved, particularly in the west (where it is often unknown that Enix, famous for its Dragon Quest series, started with releases of erotic adventure games in 1983), but is an important link between the two games.
Particularly foundational for the Japanese adventure game genre was 1983's Portopia Serial Murders, a game by future Dragon Quest creator Yuuji Horii, responsible for popularizing the interface and style of virtually every game in the genre to follow. Of particular note it was a young Hideo Kojima, future creator of the Metal Gear franchise, who took heavy inspiration from Portopia, seeing the adventure game genre and their cinematic nature as his pathway into doing the next best thing to what he'd always wanted to do: creating movies. And so Snatcher was born.
Tumblr media
Snatcher is set in the fictional Neo Kobe city, a cyberpunk dystopia heavily inspired by Blade Runner, and while the video game industry may have been maturing into its teenage years, it is incredibly striking how adult Snatcher immediately comes across. Opening with a fully-voiced narration about a catastrophic Russian biohazard that killed 80% of the populace preceding the appearance of what are essentially Blade Runner's replicants (the titular snatchers), main character Gillian Seed bids farewell to the wife he recently underwent a separation with and sets off to join Neo Kobe's JUNKERs, a special police force tasked with hunting down and eliminating snatchers.
Snatcher stands head and shoulders above its contemporaries in not just the content of its story but the sophistication with which it is told. It boggles the mind that Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Donkey Kong Country, incredible games in their own right, are some of the big mainstream releases of 1994 while this was also on store shelves. Immediately obvious through its incredible opening cinematic is a hallmark of creator/writer/director Hideo Kojima's titles all the way to the present day: they are incredibly dense and feature an almost overwhelming level of worldbuilding. Arriving at JUNKER headquarters only hammers the point home, with the player able to research a number of in-world historical topics that play out across multiple lengthy encyclopedia entries. While it is not necessary to fully explore these (the player does receive a few answers to later characters' questions in two entries), it goes a very long way to making the world feel very real which is an effect that the game achieves very well out of the gate with its flawed protagonist picking up the pieces and attempting to rebuild his life after a failed marriage with or without his former wife, itself a very realistic struggle that many can relate to. Another hallmark of Hideo Kojima titles is present in the form of abundant easter eggs and meta humor, with just one example of such easter eggs being that the player can use a phone obtained early in the game to call one Taeko Hayasaka (then a spokeswoman for Konami) as well as the localization director Jeremy Blaustein and receive some special dialogue.
Tumblr media
Playing out across three acts, the player follows Gillian's investigation into the snatcher crisis gripping Neo Kobe city which threatens to spill over into the world at large all while grappling with his own amnesia stemming from a mysterious incident before the start of the game. It's worth noting that another hallmark of Kojima video games was present in the original 1988 release of Snatcher in the form of deadlines cutting his project into dramatically shorter form, where a planned six acts was cut to a mere two. Ending on a severe cliffhanger up until this generation of ports where the final third act was added in an attempt to wrap up the ongoing storyline as best as possible, the third act was somewhat controversial at the time due to its linearity in comparison with the rest of the game which is rather open in its accommodation of player sidetracking.
Though toned down in its Sega CD port to the west, Snatcher features a very surprising level of gore and sexuality (all while somehow only achieving a rating of T for teen from the ESRB) that can catch people even today unprepared for it. A clearly defiant Konami takes several shots in-game at the then-current moral panic around video games and the senate hearings that resulted in the creation of the ESRB, and it's hard to deny that had the game received more contemporary attention that it probably would've been hugely controversial in the mainstream for its violence and sexual content (much of which is based around the absurdity of being able to investigate people you meet, leading to everyone from JUNKER chief Cunningham to daughter of fellow JUNKER Katrina thinking you're an unhinged lunatic). The game does have a reputation for allowing the player to behave in a creepy manner towards female characters, itself an oft-criticized element of Hideo Kojima's works, and while that is true in some respects I found it of particular note that Gillian is able to 'investigate' every single character in the game regardless of gender (much to their dismay) and that not only is this never actually required to progress in the game, there are instances where being creepy towards female characters can result in the player being actively punished. Just because Gillian can doesn't mean that he should - a good lesson to all you people struggling with self-control out there.
Tumblr media
All the things one typically associates with a Hideo Kojima title are present in Snatcher, including heavy inspiration from cinema, self-referential elements such as Gillian partnering with a very familiar robot sidekick appropriately named Metal Gear, to dense narratives told with an astounding level of worldbuilding and flavor, all through the style of using familiar concepts such as a setting very inspired by Blade Runner to get its foot in the door before making a hard left turn into original wonderful sci-fi insanity that culminates in what can only be described as 'a very Hideo Kojima' third act, and if you're familiar with his work you likely know exactly what that means.
The graphics and storytelling are excellent, featuring some incredible writing and localization for the time. Thanks to the Sega CD's disc-based nature the game boasts very good quality music and even a shocking level of voice work which is also similarly surprisingly high quality for a release from 1994 (though there are a few lines which fall flat), as many wouldn't consider the golden age of English voiceover dubs to start for another several years. Extremely ahead of its time in a year when we were still playing as giant gorillas jumping on crocodiles, the incredibly intricate story of Gillian Seed won't be something I forget and has held up remarkably well, serving as a great early example of the depth of experiences that gaming would come to host, particularly in the indie game scene which produces experiences often very relatable and impactful to players with a similar 'art from the artist' vibe.
Tumblr media
In a time where the industry was beginning to reflect the sensibilities of a teenager, Snatcher largely feels very adult and manages to impress with its content and sophistication even to the present day. Hideo Kojima's freshman effort laid the groundwork for an incredible portfolio of titles and is worth experiencing for anyone who are fans of Japanese-style adventure games, visual novels, cyberpunk, or just plain good stuff.
A gem hidden among the stones, Snatcher is undoubtedly stardust.

Hello, do you know what Kyo means by "aggressive" lives? I've tried to find reports of this tour in English but I've only seen Japanese and machine translators are not very clear. I saw some people talk about "pushing" but I thought standing sukekiyo concerts just included dancing in your spot? Are they trying new things?
From what we could see in the Creeper video that they showed as an Instagram Live, fans this tour finally moved and headbanged a lot. They still have to remain extra quiet as a firm rule apparently, but that's what he meant.

Underscoring the game’s narrative focus on the endangerment of adolescence, the environment is dark and possesses a labyrinthine layout whose secret passages and claustrophobic spaces the player must explore to discover clues vital to the progression of the game. As the episode progresses, the player is compelled to enter into a number of chambers whose rust- and gore-soaked walls resemble a terrifying intrauterine landscape, recalling what Creed describes as the “malevolent womb”. The building is also swarming with Creepers, cockroach-like insects whose sheer abundance connotes a monstrous fecundity. [...] The hospital also holds clues vital to the completion of the game: as the player navigates this space, she learns that Alessa had been admitted several years earlier with bleeding, pustulent wounds after being burned in the impregnation ritual performed by her mother. A claustrophobic chamber that bears bloody vestiges of the incident, Alessa’s basement sickroom likewise becomes deeply symbolic of the malevolent maternal body, echoing the Freudian conceptualization of female sexual organs as dually connotative of life and death, womb and tomb. Like the school, the hospital is thus transformed from a protective space into one of danger as maternal imagery convenes into a “primeval irrational force, symbolizing the abuses suffered by the young girl”.

Bakugo katsuki x reader
tw!! stalker, obsession, slight nsfw not really. Japanese nicknames. Translations at the bottom. :)
the light in my kitchen is what has me frozen outside my house, I’ve only been living in it for 3 months. the old house is loud, the floor boards always making a wheezing sound with each step you take the air stale but I’ve been using candles to cover the smell. I snap my car door shut as my heart picks up, I just got home from having a drink with my sister. She’s in the military so I don’t see her often and the slight buzz was just what I needed.
I slowly make my way up the stairs, cursing myself for not leaving the blinds open this one time. Im about 99.9% percent positive all the lights where off in the house when I left ,seeing how it was still broad daylight. I fish for my keys in my pocket but a shadow from my peripheral vision catches my eye, and now my hands are clammy, my hearts in my god damn head banging against my brain. Someone was definitely just in my kitchen.
No one’s in your house y/n your just imagining things, yeah that's it, its been a long fucking day lets get in the house I need a bathe and beauty rest. The keys already twisting in the doorknob and I'm slamming the door open like I'm not pissing myself and I'm so ready to take a burglar down if there’s one in here. I pause listening for any creaks, there's no way I wouldn't be able to hear someone ,this house is loud as fuck. I shut the door ,lock it ,and turn to the kitchen running for a knife because fuck that I'm still shitting my pants. Growing up I always use to believe in the paranormal, news flash I still do, and let's just say this house is perfect for a haunting. I check the whole house with my knife tight in my hand and my legs practically shaking. I love living alone because I enjoy my solitude ,very much but I've been traumatized since birth and almost everyday there’s at least one thing that shakes me to my core living by myself. I'm making my way out of the library when something bangs behind me and I'm frozen in place the tears are ready to fall I clutch the knife even harder I won’t go done easily. I whip around the breath caught in my throat.
“you got some pretty dark books in here, princess”. There’s a man standing 6 feet away from me. He’s holding a book in his hand the other in his pocket, he’s dressed head to toe in black, a hoodie hiding me from his piercing gaze, cargo pants, and combat boots. His hair peeks out and looks like an ashy blonde, he's tall, really tall like 6′4 . If I where to guess tall. My neck is craned looking up at him through my lashes.
“What are you doing in my house” it was meant to sound aggressive and dominant but it came out more of a.... holy fucking shit there's a man in my house standing literally 6 FEET AWAY FROM ME. “I came to visit you, I got a little tired of seeing you from afar. I wanted to see what my goddess looked like up close” he’s turned towards me now stepping closer as I step further away. His face is still hidden but I can see the smirk pulling at the corner of his lips.
Im gonna run. I'm gonna do it I know this house like the back of my hand this is just a random creeper ,i’ll go hide, call the police and everything will be fine. As I'm ready to take off his face drops , like if he just heard everything going through my mind and it stops me in my tracks. The air is thickening and his presence weighs heavily against me, my heart is beating so fast I swear he can hear it ,and as much as I'm terrified there's a hidden thrill starting to make itself known. “You going to run my little, tenshi?” panic, I'm panicking. And then I'm running, running out of the library through the kitchen and his footsteps are loud right behind me but I'm too scared to look .The tears are dripping down my face and I almost trip rounding the corner when I see how close he is behind me , right on top of me. A loud shrill leaves my throat and I hear him chuckle behind me .I'm racing up the stairs so close to victory , and then I'm snatched up and I'm screaming.
his back his firm against mine and I can feel his uneven breathing, his long arms wrapped around my stomach. I go to throw my head back ready to head butt him but he predicts it dodging and grabbing me by my head pushing my head against his shoulder. My tears make his face out to be blurry but he’s gorgeous possibly the hottest man I've ever laid my eyes on. His nose is sharp, mouth nice and plump, and his eyes, those have to be contacts their a deep red. crimson red to be specific. He has a scar going from his jaw up to his cheek on the right. And then I'm reminded that he's still holding me in the air. He twists the knife out of my hand, it slice’s through his flesh.
“A knife? You think that this could keep me away from you? God you’re breath taking ,my megami” He squeezes me tighter to him, he said something like that in the library too, something I can't decipher, what language is that? “I like when you run, the fear on your face shows your beauty so well. Like it was meant for you. ” he wipes one of my tears and then licks me from my cheek to my eye and then plants a kiss there. I cringe away and then I feel it, his bulge is pressing up against my back and I freeze completely. he gives me a smile and his dimples appear and I'm taken aback. He comes close to my ear, his lips brushing up against them and my heart stutters when his breath fans my face.
“ I thinks its time for bed my, tenshi. I'll be back for you but duty calls. Maybe we can play for longer next time. ” He carries me towards my room sets me on the bed and kisses my forehead. “goodnight ,baby” and he's out of my room 1..2...3 seconds tick by and I'm jumping out of my bed opening my door running down the stairs grabbing my phone. I go to check out the window but he's gone already no where to be found not a single creek from the floor when he left and that absolutely terrifies me. I'm ready to dial 911 when I text appears.
UNKNOWN
:calling the police wouldn’t be very smart little tenshi, after all you don't want any man whose ever even looked your way to be at your doorstep, dead at your feet. In my opinion, where they belong.”
tears are falling rapidly down my cheeks and I'm shaking so fucking hard my teeth are grinding, my phone buzz’s once more.
:now be a good girl and sleep, I'll be back.
Katsuki
I stand outside behind a tree as I watch her flush face stained with tears. She’s so fucking beautiful, I almost lost control. I need to take it slow with her. I have plenty of time after all…
She’s mine.
