There was darkness before you, the sounds around you were muffled as you slowly awoke from your comatose state. You felt groggy as you slowly came to, all of your senses drowned except for one: your sense of smell.
That was the first thing to catch your attention too - how the room smelt. It was like every lab you’d been in, sterile, the smell of rubbing alcohol and cleaning products hanging heavily in the cold recycled air. But you caught the scent of something else, something that made your mouth water with desire.
The smell of flesh.
You could sense it close to you, the sweet scent filling your nose. It was layered with something else, a hint of coffee, hazelnut, and leather. Regardless, it was so inviting to your senses, having been locked away in a vat of liquid for weeks, unable to be set free until this very moment. That’s when you felt a hand reach your face, gently caressing your cheek. It was warm against your cold and wet skin, the sweetness of it infiltrating your nose, filling your senses with delight.
You just wanted to take a bite.
And stupid enough as you were, you tried. But the hand quickly backed away from you, the scent dying down as it left you alone with the smell of the sterile environment now. You tried to follow it, but you found that you were restrained to a metal chair, hands bound tightly with steel and a collar around your neck, keeping you in place. You attempted to move the chair, to fight back against your restraints, but they had it bolted in place and chained to the back wall.
They made a prison just for you.
“Not very nice of you now, is it?”
You opened your eyes, the fluorescent light of the lab blaring into them squinting as it blurred your vision, waiting for it clear. When it finally did, you saw a tall blonde man with blue eyes staring down at you, his voice had been heavily laced with disappointment in your action. You took in the rest of him. He was wearing a dark navy blue button down with black tactical pants, jungle boots, and a lab coat. He didn’t look like most of the researchers you were used to dealing with.
He was nothing like doctor Marcus.
Doctor James Marcus was the one who typically attended you, taking all of your vitals, checking to make sure you were still stable. Your condition was unlike that of the other experiments they had. Inside you there were two viruses running rampant. One was called the T virus and it typically turned people into mindless flesh eating monsters. It didn’t make you mindless, but you did have a craving for flesh and blood. The second was a prototype of another scientist, one that was snuck in without Doctor Marcus’ knowing. You heard the scientist who injected you with it call it the ‘G’ virus. You didn’t know what it did to most people, but it gave you superhuman abilities to say the least. You were much stronger than you had ever been before, and it’s why they kept you locked away, asleep in your liquid bed. The researcher who injected you didn’t want anyone else to be the wiser.
Except for this guy, you guessed.
“Brikin, I thought you said this one was stable.” The man said, turning his attention to the other blonde man with messy fringe hair.
“Trust me Wesker, they are.” Birkin replied, “They’re just hungry right now. Last time they were properly fed was by James and that was weeks ago before the… incident.”
“Where is he?” You asked, voice coming out hoarse, throat feeling like you’d swallowed glass.
The one called Wesker smiled at you. The way he looked down at you was like a snake watching an unsuspecting animal, ready for the taking. But little did he know that you weren’t unsuspecting. You could see exactly who he was at that moment. He was more like a curious cat getting too close to a dog much more powerful than him. It was good for him that you were restrained. He’d be your next victim if not, being taken down just as easily as a cat.
“So you do speak.” He stated, “Good. Makes my job easier.”
“And what job is that?” You asked
You both turned your attention to the metal door being opened, seeing Birkin carrying in a covered plate and glass into the room, but you immediately knew what it was, eyes dilating at the scent of it.
He brought you food.
Wesker moved away from you, taking the dish from Birkin and setting it down on the floor in front of you. He placed on his leather gloves before proceeding to rip it into pieces, holding a small chunk of it close enough to your face so you could smell it even more, but not enough to taste. He saw how infatuated you were with it, how desperately you wanted - no, needed it. He smiled again at your weakened state, knowing how easily he could use this against you.
“I have an offer for you.” He said, “If you’re willing to help me and my friend with our research, I will provide you with everything you will ever need for the rest of your life. How does that sound?”
You looked past the meat that he was waving in your face, staring him directly in the eyes. You didn’t know if he was lying to you or not, or what exactly he meant by research. But all of it sounded like it was too good to be true.
“I don’t have a choice, do I?” You asked
Wesker chuckled at you, placing the raw meat against your lips. It was cold, having sat in a refrigerator for a while. It made you sad knowing that fact. The meat was always the best when warm, freshly killed. But you had to make due with whatever they gave you, whenever they gave it to you.
“No, you do not.” He confessed
You continued to chew through each piece he gave you, placing a glass of blood up to your lips in between each one. It filled your veins with new life, your soul with delight being able to have something this delicious on your tongue again. You just wished that it was fresh, and that you could have killed it yourself.
When you’d finally eaten and drank your fill you stared at Wesker, eyes gazing down at him. You were both like two predators staring at the other, waiting for one to make the first move. He smirked at you.
“You’re an interesting one, you know that?”
“That’s what they keep telling me.” You said bluntly. “I’ll take your deal.”
His eyes lit up in delight.
“I’m surprised you’ve come to see things our way so quickly.” He stated
“It’s like you said, I don’t have any choice. Might as well play the game along with you.” You replied
He stood up from his place on the floor, bloodied gloved hand coming to reach your face. It took everything in your power not to have a taste of it, to bite down onto him. So you continued to stare into his blue eyes, refusing to look away.
“Very interesting indeed.” He repeated
He turned his attention back to Birkin who was on the other side of the lab, watching from a closed off room.
“Birkin, get this one ready for me.” Wesker said, looking back at you with his evil grin.
“I think this plan is going to work out better than we hoped.”

Umbrella Pharmaceuticals - Chapter 25
January 16, 1978
It's been four months since the school year began. What a bunch of useless people Spencer got us. On top of that he sent me a note demanding that I look for someone worthwhile among the students to be placed as head researcher of his clandestine laboratory in Arklay's country house.
I've had enough of everything.
Marcus ignores me and the teachers keep lowering their standards given the obvious uselessness of the students. This shitty sociological experiment set up by fucking Spencer has been for nothing.
The other day I walked into Marcus's office while he was cleaning his gun and how cowardly of me not to have picked up one of the loaded ones to shoot myself, or to have him shoot me as part of his target practice.
And, to top it all off, I received a circular from Ashford telling us that they were going to lay off staff and freeze salaries as part of the umpteenth restructuring of the company.
I wish I could die right now.
January 25, 1978
I have had a serious talk with Marcus about the "quality" of our students. After reviewing all the files, we have concluded that the only ones who will have a minimal future at Umbrella will be Albert and William, William and Albert: the only ones whose files don't make you gag. Marcus has asked me to listen to them to verify our assumption and to notify Spencer that we may finally have a candidate for his mansion.

Scholar Will.
Practical Al.
Those two are complete opposites. One goes through life as a prissy know-it-all and the other as if he'll spare your life. The point is that they keep competing with each other for the prize at the end of the road. Since the rest of them are useless, the two of them have engaged in a ruthless and cruel cold war. They only need to come to blows. They barely speak to each other and in the dining room they each sit in a corner. It is quite entertaining to watch.
February 5, 1978
Marcus called me to boost the rivalry between these two. It's the first time in eons that James has shown an interest in anything other than his research and revolvers. Anyway, orders are orders. I am going to have them tearing at each other's throats.
