प्रतिवर्ष ज्येष्ठ माह की शुक्ल पक्ष की दशमी को गंगा दशहरा मनाया जाता है. इस वर्ष गंगा दशहरा 12 जून 2019, के दिन मनाया जाएगा. स्कंदपुराण के अनुसार गंगा दशहरे के दिन व्यक्ति को किसी भी पवित्र नदी पर जाकर स्नान, ध्यान तथा दान करना चाहिए. इस दिन पवित्र नदी गंगा जी में स्नान किया जाता है. यदि कोई मनुष्य वहाँ तक जाने में असमर्थ है तब अपने घर के पास किसी नदी या तालाब में गंगा मैया का ध्यान करते हुए स्नान कर सकता है.

As you drive from Rishikesh to the Greater Himalayas there is a town known as Devprayag. One of the 5, Panch Prayags, Devprayag is where the Alkananda and Bhagirathi meet to form the Ganga. A few kms before Devprayag is the spot where this photo was taken. My favorite spot where I always stop to click the Ganga. The newly formed Ganga flows down and takes a hard eastward turn towards Rishikesh. The mountain in the middle reminds me of a Shivling. This photo reminds me that in life, its better to be on the water and keep flowing instead of sitting on the bank.
