“My older brother Joseph, or ‘The Father’ as he's lovingly referred to, has recently told my siblings and I you were meant to join our family,” John informed, stepping closer. “A wayward soul looking for a place in the world. Something we could provide for you.”
Ramona knitted her brow. “And again I beg the question, what makes you think that?” she asks; increasingly getting more annoyed.
“Impatient, aren't we?” he commented teasingly. “I saw you were a young woman traveling alone, willing to practically jump into the arms of anyone who looked your way. No matter how unsavory their true intentions were.” John's tone darkens at the last part.
New art to go along with a bit of a wip of chapter 4 of you know what as an apology for not posting much. This is just a redraw of this screenshot that just capsulates Ramona’s mood at the moment.

"thomas got no character development" maybe. or maybe the moral of his story is that it's irresponsible and unhealthy to attempt to completely deprive yourself of your feelings and much more productive to accept them as part of yourself and move on with your life from there. trying to go cold turkey on alison and then randomly picking another person to have a crush on only for it not to work is something we've seen thomas do before, which for some reason people decide to see as boring repetition rather than consistent characterization. but after that. did you miss the part where he stopped talking when she walked away, realized along with everyone else when fanny said "we're as bad as betty" and voted to go through with the proposal for alison to leave? did you miss the part where he happily waved her and her living family goodbye? did you miss the part where alison, old and gray, came back and mirthfully said "thomas, you flatter me" like. his passion for people and obsession with the idea of love wasn't gonna just go away. but he's learning to treat her with more respect, he didn't throw a tantrum or follow her around or go drown himself in the lake. just because he's not a completely different character doesn't mean there wasn't growth. watch season 1 episode 2 thomas say "divorce him, kill yourself, marry me" and then watch the christmas special again and tell me there was no development. come on now.

laughin' till our ribs gets tough
(some dialogue under the cut)
PAN: do you remember the night we graduated?
MAMOTHA: of course I do. how could I ever forget?
PAN: oh, easily. you drank enough to drown a Klingon that night.
MAMOTHA: you forget, my friend, that I have the constitution of a Romulan. and, for the record, youre a lightweight, even by Human standards.
PAN: say what you will, but I know I wasn't the one tripping over my own two feet on the way back to our dorm.
MAMOTHA: you'll never let me live that down, will you?
PAN: absolutely not. you walked back barefoot because you knew you were too drunk to walk in those stupid heels, and then you still tripped and twisted your ankle. I had to carry you back!
MAMOTHA: you didn't have to carry me, you insisted on it. I could've hobbled perfectly fine, thank you.
PAN: oh, forgive me for looking out for you.
MAMOTHA: we're not getting into this argument again. it's been 5 years! besides, you had fun, too, don't deny it. do you remember when we finally got inside, and you were so relieved we got back without incident-
PAN: -and I went and tripped right over my own discarded shoes and we both hit the ground. yeah, I remember. only time I've ever seen you laugh yourself to tears.
MAMOTHA: I couldn't make it stop. I thought I was going to be sick.
PAN: you were sick. all over the carpet.
MAMOTHA: ha! right. I always did hate that carpet.
PAN: so did I. god, was that really 5 years ago?
MAMOTHA: it was. feels like it was just yesterday, doesn't it?
PAN: sometimes. and sometimes-
MAMOTHA: it feels like it's been a lifetime.
PAN: yeah.
MAMOTHA: do you remember what you said? after we stopped laughing, while we were still lying there.
PAN: course I do. we're gonna touch those stars, Mamotha.
MAMOTHA: almost. you called me Motha.
PAN: huh. so I did.
MAMOTHA: it's... been a while. since you called me that.
PAN: well... it wouldn't really be appropriate now, would it? since you're my captain and all.
MAMOTHA: ...no. no, I guess it wouldn't be. I guess I'm still getting used to that.
PAN: me, too. but... I am. getting used to it, I mean. you're doing pretty great.
MAMOTHA: ...thank you, Pan.
PAN: anytime, Captain.

okay, I've kind of touched briefly on this before but venadeus viii is a corrupting force for io. while he only interacts with them via dreams, he uses it to influence a lot of how io reacts to their waking world. and he has a lot of sway in how they resurrect. whether that be peacefully, or violently. as the god of violent magic, it can be (correctly) assumed he has a preference. and that he certainly has his machinations working in the world to sway it the way he wishes. even if he dies when io takes the title, he can still ensure that his domain is given new life.
YES, I'm talking about fantasy verse AGAIN as a sub-note but I love using aus to expand on certain aspects of what io is like in canon. fantasy absolutely expands on io's vice of wrath. venadeus viii is still a god in this verse, and he is still replaced with iovita. he did this maliciously, though. he did not tell them that they were taking his place as a god. he told them that they would be untouchable. dangerous. he unleashed them back on the world as a living, breathing force of natural disaster. someone who would twist themself into knots just to get a taste of destruction again. someone who would swallow the sun if they could, for just an ounce more of power. because he encouraged iovita's core belief: the path to peace is forged in violence.
io in this verse isn't really aware that they're technically a god. if they were slain, the environmental impact would be absolutely catastrophic - because everything about them has been turned into something prickly, venomous, boiling hot, dangerous. but they would also resurrect again. and certainly throw themself directly back into vengeance.
it can still be presumed that io is the god of destructive/violent nature in this verse. their many viper-like qualities, their fire, and their absolute claim on their valley (refusing to allow people to build anything more than a couple measly villages) are all evidence of them subconsciously embracing the domain they claimed when they accepted venadeus viii's proposal.
my roundabout way of rerouting this back to canon is just to point out that io is very corruptible and venadeus viii is very good at corrupting. depending on how io dies, he can influence them into coming back bitter, angry, and very destructive. catastrophically so. which is why see: fantasy verse. io in that verse would raze a country just because they wanted to. and this is because of the way they died: bitter, hurt, angry. unjustly.

Hey msy I ask did my earlier ask that had to do with God of death reader went through or did tumblr ate it
yes they all got through and I have written things for them! I just haven't flushed them out enough to post it yet. I want to tie them all together somehow like a multipart fic but I'm having trouble weaving the web narrative but I have the next part with how reader met Fierce and Hylia getting jealous ready and that should be out tomorrow.
next up is Sun and Sky meeting reader and Sun fighting with reader on the surface as her weapon when she gets pulled down, and after that a Hyrule warriors era fic on Skyloft with Fi and the rest but that might get too long so I may posy another idea first. I have reader taking place of the Poe statue and meeting Wild in the works as well. Reader gained a lot of power during the calamity because of all those who died. The demon army reviving takes the souls away from them so they're stuck trying to fight to stop more from spawning while also having trouble protecting Fauna and Wild.
