You wake up with a foul taste in the back of your throat, much akin to what you imagine the taste of a small animal, if it had taken its time to shit before dying and rotting in your mouth. You blink open crusty eyes and the ceiling swims oddly.

You don’t immediately recognize the room. It’s yours, you realize after you get vertical and mop the drool off your face, but something in your subconscious is nagging at you. There’s a glass of water at your bedside, and its beckons are far more alluring than the anxiety that prickles down your spine. It’s deliciously cold and wipes away the fog of sleep into a more soothed tiredness.

Your boyfriend isn’t in bed. He must’ve left the cup for you. Probably why you woke up early, you guess, glaring at the sunbeams where they peek through the blinds, crawling down the floor and spilling across the bed. You really had to get a handle on those overtime night shifts, they were starting to screw with you at night. It’s been weeks and you’re still not used to this new place.

Maybe Gaz had a point in his fussing over it, yesterday or the day before or whenever you had had that argument. You should pick up some of the chocolates he likes as an apology, if you haven’t already.

You swing your legs over the bed, tiredly committing to joining the rest of the waking world and take the glass of water. It’s sweet and icy cold. You stretch out the lead in your limbs and crave almonds. 

The apartment is quiet and still. You feel the urge to fill blank walls with paintings and clutter, if just to distract from the flatness between. Breathe some life into the place, banish the liminality from waking hours. Gaz would like that, he always played with your knick-knacks and helped you haggle for decorations. You miss a lot of them, but your asshole of a former landlord trash most of them. Still, you had a handful of cute reminders of dates between you and Gaz, even if a lot of your older gifts had been lost.

HI ANON!! Weirdcore/dreamcore is, from what i get abt it, is like the aesthetic for things that r nostalgic but have a hint of uneasiness but also comfort at the same time? I often associate being in liminal space to these 2 aesthetics, an example of songs from these cores r 7 weeks and 3 days, and six forty seven!!

ALSO i listened to flying n i. Can. Agree. This song reminds me of how jing yuan wouldve felt esp while he was younger when the gang went downhill, oh how he wished to escape the never ending feel of drowning, seeing his friends go one by one, drifting apart and becoming exiled/fallen/etc

Jing yuan def feels hopeless whenever he's in thought of them, occasionally indulge in wishful thinking of what he couldve done back then to prevent all of this and to get his friends back. The ache never leaves his chest, you know? I just wanna give him all the love and affection he needs to help him bear the pain 🥹🥹

And anon i agree with just wait til next year for boothill because the whole vibe of the song is just filled with boothill for me. But what im imagining is kinda sad sobs cuz its like images of him getting shot at by other cowboys or cowboy cyborgs, him riding his horse back home, or him adventuring through the windy desert, just... trying to get home. To get back to the safety and comfort of his home, he might be rowdy and loud and brash but not everyone can withstand chaos ALL the time.

He just needs to be away from all these chaos.

im the ideas guy so heres my idea for a pointless inclusion: at the end of each day you should have a lsd dream emulator randomly/procedurally/ai/whatever generated dream based off the rooms you saw that day. but there should be a 1/365 chance that you stumble across a room from your dreams. there should be signs on every floor instructing you to immediately inform a park ranger if you find a floor from your dream. when you tell the ranger, she goes "oh my god. okay, stay here" and leaves for a while and then comes back with a special birthday boy pin because if you saw the dream room it must be your birthday

ok this may sound silly but: in the 90s, necros (among others) were making some rad tracker music with a very very specific synth sound and overall vibe that i simply have not heard since. this hits that for me.

"露華" necros md tracker idm revived. "spur" feels like it's that tracker sound, removed from tracker limits.

"føn", my second fav track, feels far more Halley Labs, but still carries a hint of that turn-of-the-century tracker spirit.

the opening track, "eko", is SO choice though. fav.

Oneohtrix Point Never - Again

This covers the mind-exploding fringes of sampledelica but fresher. Or, actually... maybe that's too reductive.

I remember chimeratio hyping up "Locrian Midwest" specifically, and... yeah I can tell why. That's very him-flavored. The timbral selection is top notch. That last sentence applies to every other moment in every other track, though.

"Plastic Antique" would have murdered me in 2013.

Patricia Taxxon - TECHDOG 1-7

Of course this would grab me.

I would've just thought it was a delightful romp if it stopped at TECHDOG 1, but damn did it keep going.

"TETCTEHECDCHOHDGDOGOG" was an instant fav, but as time goes on, I keep finding new favorites. I think the build from birds to walls in "OCOTOCODCTCETDTHDEDGEHEGHGHG" is my fav as of writing.

That said, something that struck me imemdiately, got the most replays from me this year, from TECHDOG7: "THTCTHTOTHTCTHDHCHOHCECOCDCOGODOEODGDEDGDEGEGEGEG"

Never has a song so viscerally teleported me to a specific scenario: being a child, alone in a room without knowing why. I can feel the dust in the air. Insanely good.

hi hi :) wanted to give you a quick update that I finally watched American Psycho tonite!!

I actually liked and adore this movie thoroughly! I will say though, even though it was said to be a comedy/horror movie, I mostly liked the horror but didn't quite laugh at the comedy sadly :/. It was still a great watch tho, ngl! /pos /gen My main interest is that I love how ambiguous it is on whether or not Patrick's crimes he committed were real or not--and I love those kinds of movies/episodes where it makes you think and theorize on the story itself and the ending.

Also, uh, oof. Next to Billy Loomis, I LITERALLY wanna get down on one knee and propose Bateman to be my malewife--he's fricking hot no joke abt that. And I also love how he narrates in the movie about his thoughts and feelings and whatnot including his knowledge on music and albums--plus as a fanfic writer, it kinda helps me with his character development and scripting.

Overall, I enjoyed this lil' thriller movie you recommended me, mikey! I'd give it a fair 8/10--knowing you at most, you'd probably give it a 100/10 lol.
