Claude von Riegan cruelly attempts to eat a KFC Doubledown (tm) Derdriu-style fried pheasant instead of giving it to his wyvern, who clearly has never been fed in her whole life. Look at her. She's so hungry. How could you keep this treat from her. (Big thanks to my awful cat for inspiring this by slapping my fucking egg sandwich out of my hands this morning so she could eat it off the floor. All domesticated carnivores is the same.)

Last week I was lucky enough to be one of the first 5 members of public to get their hands on the new @kfc_uki Zinger Double Down! I feel like there’s been an improvement on the original I had last year. The chicken was definitely crispier and easier to handle, and that zinger sauce kicked it up to just the right amount. It was so good I had 2! This is the infamous KFC Double Down. I first read about this 'sandwich' years ago and was immediately intrigued. It's a fairly simple chicken sandwich with cheese, bacon and barbecue sauce but with a twist; instead of bread, then cheese, bacon and sauce are held between two fillets of deep-fried chicken. I decided to put this thing into my body for research purposes. First things first; there is no sensible way to eat this mess. It's sloppy. It's greasy. There's nothing dry about it. The skin is coming off the chicken. The cheese is melted. You can eat this thing stone cold sober and feel like you've somehow gotten drunk as you try to handle this mess falling apart in your hands. But. It is quite good. KFC does pretty good chicken, it's hard to go wrong with cheese, bacon and barbecue sauce. Once you've wrestled the thing into your mouth, it's exactly as nice as you'd expect it to be. You should try it at least once. I just can't get my head around the thinking behind it. Just out this thing in a bun and it'd be great. They've over indulged on the chicken front and it makes what could be a nice and sensible sandwich into a mess. It's this kind of thinking that caused downfall of Rome. This thing is the reason God abandoned us. It is hubris in the form of fried chicken. We were arrogant fools for thinking we could go without bread. Damn this thing, damn the man who invented it and damn the horse he rode into town on! #kfc #doubledown
