q!bbh may be paranoid but some of the ghosties that roam around him are equally the same, if not more so than him. i still remember yesterday when he let pomme go off by herself for a little bit to go pick up more grass blocks. some of the ghosties started going, aren’t you afraid something will attack her? what if a random code decides to strike? where is she? and he basically went, “it’s late, a code won’t do anything this late, she’s fine” … *pauses to look over in the direction he thinks pomme went, very clearly worried now* “well okay i think she went this way” and proceeded to run after his kid. it almost makes sense though why a bunch of little ghosts reminding him of the past are the ones feeding his paranoia

See, requests are so much fun because yesterday I got a request for headcannons for a ghost MC and I would have never thought about that in a million years but now it's haunting me (get it lol).

Ghost!MC terrorizing Baxter because they're bored and it's fun. He gives into the friendship because he's so lonely, MC can't buy him a souvenir on the shopping street because they are a ghost and that's not how that works, but they give him like a seashell or something to remember his time in Sunset Bird.

Then at the end of the summer, he's like "Well, that was something," tells MC bye and heads back to school in Virginia, but then it's like that trope where a ghost can attach itself to a meaningful object. Baxter comes back to his dorm and his desk is on top of his bed.

Baxter: Not again ...

MC: Consider yourself haunted, my good sir.

Baxter: (sighs) I truly do.

#Saint Juniper’s Folly #aroaessidhe 2023 reads #this is….okay #writing is quite young - it feels like middle grade. would be fine bc i like middle grade but it's a bit at odds with the fact that #they’re 18 and talking about college soon and driving round in cars a lot #There’s very little ghosty or spookiness - it’s more just about the characters and their developing relationships #I felt like there were quite a few pivotal scenes missing? Like it skips from the kid being back in this town for the first time #to suddenly he’s stuck in this house in the woods. We don’t see him go out there; realise he’s stuck; or anything. #(unless libby skipped a chapter in my audiobook again?) #It also felt like it skipped any of them like testing the supernatural stuff? They go straight to researching the house’s history. #Once the end is revealed it makes sense I guess - but it’s like the because the author forgot to make the characters (who Don’t know) #do the first logical things you might do in a situation like that. idk. #the boys hating each other at the start felt manufactured for some hate to love thing instead of for any reason.....I didn't buy it #Also my pet peeve of: having a character call her dad by his first name! …….but it's an indication of their bad relationship. okay then. #(I know that is also a real experience but MAN sometimes people just do that it's not always a sign of emotional neglect!!!!) #Anyway - I didn’t hate it by any means; there’s just a few little things that didn't work for me
