I am having Emotions™️ about the coffee table I’ve been using to stream.

It’s an ancient thing and I’ve always loved it since I was little. It’s that absolutely atrocious shade of green that was really popular in the 60s (I actually like that color tbh) and that color was chosen to match the other furniture my great grandmother had from working in a furniture store. My great grandfather made the coffee table out of an old school desk. He cut the legs to make it shorter and painted it himself. It ended up in my childhood house with my mom (his granddaughter) for reasons I’m not really clear on but this is one of a few things we still have from him. I also have some glass grapes he made packed away some where. I don’t know a lot about him but I do know he was creative enough to do these things. He died before I was born. My great grandmother was driving a car on a sheer cliff drop and something went wrong with the brake. He took off his seatbelt to try to help her and they went over the edge. She survived with a broken back and chronic health issues from that. He didn’t.

But I’ve kept this table that nobody else in my family really likes. It’s sturdy and good and has useful pockets from having been a school desk. Turns out it’s the exact right size for the clamp on my cheap webcam stand. So I’ve been using it to stream myself painting and recording that. It just feels like continuing a legacy of creativity that’s been in my family, even from people I didn’t get to know and the ones I did. My mom let me have this table when she and my dad moved away because I begged for it. One of the few things she had left from her grandfather and she let me have it because I loved it.

Life update

Okay so hey y’all it’s been a hot minute. I know I don’t have to but I still wanna apologize for my hiatus with everything.

I’m sorry about the Sweetie Project to those who were looking forward to it. I had to put a pause on that as well because not only was I dealing with writers block, but my job these past few weeks have been draining me so badly. I know any works I put out now would be shit compared to what I usually write. I’m sorry to my atiny sweeties because it really has been a long while since I gave y’all something and I’m sorry about that. I hope I can deliver something to y’all soon enough.

I’ve just been burnt out like a mf from work and all I do is work, sleep and eat occasionally cause I noticed I’ve been doing less of that too and losing weight because of it. Yes I’m fine cause I’ve also been changing my diet but the job might be a cause too.

I plan to return back to writing across all of my blogs and I hope y’all can wait for me just a little bit more until I post something. I hope y’all are hydrating, eating and resting better than me right now and just know I still love and appreciate y’all

I can’t do that; which is why I’m asking you to. #also: a bunch of tags are surprised this isn’t ‘shopped #it’s the lighting. backlit by the sun (which is diffused through the water) but also forelit artificially #the artificial light - a flash pack or something - casts a hard shadow under the creatures arm #which normally wouldn’t be possible if backlit by the SUN; you’d see a less-hard/more-fragmented shadow above water #as light sources ‘compete’ in a sense - and since there aren’t any light sources which can outshine the literal sun #it looks a bit weird when the darkest shadow is being cast from any other origin point - which is what’s essentially happening here #I don’t know the mechanics of how light travels through water; but I know the effect is substantial even with relatively short distances #also: it’s been balanced and color corrected by the author of the photo - who made deliberate choices to bring out the full potential #so it’s not like it’s a fresh and untouched export #but the kind of ‘tacked on’ appearance of the creature is a result of the lighting conditions within the image
