ok this is the year we retire the old template & start using new ones hello
( & SO, this template credit to @ necromosss on twt!
(( date edited slightly by me, in case you're confused )) )
WHAT a year, am I right?
2023 opened the door to a lot more experiences, events, fandoms, people, & all KINDS of hectic craziness for me, but it was REALLY fun, & while I don't think I really made HEFTY leaps & bounds in terms of doing something different with my art, every day - with every small change & improvement, I come to love my art all the more.
& that, I will contribute some to YOU!
yes, YOU - reading this right now! to casual viewers, to those who have been with me since the premiere of this blog, to those who've come around in 2023 for one thing or another; to those of you of whom I've never spoken with, to those who have made me something or complemented my work, to those who've become my friends, my gratitude is IMMEASURABLE.
this last year, while its had its bumpier moments - I will confess, it's been truly incredible, & I thank you, every single one of you, who's had even the slightest hand to make it so. you are all TOO KIND, & I appreciate you sticking by & enjoying what I do.
hopefully, I can continue to make things that grab your attention, AWE & AMAZE YOU, & beyond anything, make you smile, if only to repay you some for all the joy you provide me.
HERE'S TO 2024! with hopes & prayers & wishes aplenty that we'll be better people in better situations before it's over!
2023: JAN / FEB / MAR / APR / MAY / JUN / JUL / AUG / SEP / OCT / NOV / DEC + BONUS PIECE.

i love that it wasn’t obi wan who swooped in and saved luke and defeated reva, but that it was reva’s own decision, that even if obi wan had never realized anything was going on, she still would have brought luke back to owen and beru, she still would have spared him, she still would have realized that killing luke wouldn’t have done anything, that she needed to be more than what vader was.
reva’s turn away from the dark side, away from grief and hopelessness and hate and rage wasn’t foisted upon her because she was bested in battle, or because someone else got her to see the light. she made that choice, on her own, and for herself. luke is alive because of reva, and only reva, because of the decision that she made in that moment, and no one else had any bearing on it. it wasn’t obi wan’s ingenuity or prowess or abilities that saved luke, it was just reva. just reva and her mercy, and her deliberate choice. it’s absolutely wonderful.

Really love how Atticus's team is made up entirely of "weird" Pokemon. He's in the same region as Venomoth and Glimmora and Salazzle, yet looked at the sludge pile and the sentient car engine and went "I want those"

Who was your first oc? Are they still an active oc or did you leave them in the past? If they're still active, tell us five facts about them! - 🖤
Ooh my first OC? Probably Morgan tbh 😅 if I’ve had any before her, I don’t remember them
(I did have some nebulous Skywalker triplet OC concepts before her, but…the final version of those is Lucy, who didn’t exist until after, during the Kenobi show’s run)
Five facts about her:
She’s loyal to a fault. This sometimes pays off but also quite often gets her into dangerous situations
She’s left-handed, while Jesse is right-handed! This is partly projection (I’m a lefty) and partly derived from canon, seeing as E2 Cisco (Reverb) is left-handed while E1 Cisco is right-handed
She speaks two languages, English and Spanish
She can sing, has been since she was around 8, but she can’t play the piano. A certain someone teaches her in s3 👀
She’s aroace! I’m nearly caught up timeline-wise to the installment when she realizes this (which I’ve written 1 chapter of and do intend to finish before I go past 1x16) with Caitlin’s help (who, by the way, is aro in this AU!). Morgan had already figured out she was ace before this, but a little push from Caitlin solidified the aro part for her

The pushback to the term "cultural Christianity" from atheists is real odd to me because, as someone who has been an atheist since 13, only ever went to church a handful of times never with my own family (made a note never to sleep over at that friends house on a Saturday again bc I HATED church it smelled like shit, was boring, pews are uncomfortable as fuck, and the religious people I knew were all wildly misogynistic and I've never been here for being told I was less of a person for being Born Like This), and generally had no actual connection to Christianity in a meaningful way but still only knows Christian mythology, has been steeped in Christian values I had to untangle, and my religious understandings are still deeply Christian.
Like Ive never paid attention to the bible, church, Jesus, Christian teachings, or whatever but if you asked me about any religion the one I'll reliably know the most about is Christianity. I don't know why atheists are offended by being called culturally Christian because they have bad blood with the religion because like sorry bruh that doesn't mean you're less indoctrinated by Christian values if the culture you grew up in is predominantly Christian. In fact I'd say that religion being this ubiquitous in the culture regardless of anyone's consent to exactly ONE religion being shoved down our throats is reason to team up with other religious folks who ALSO don't like being constantly evangelized to by the culture at large, not a reason to throw a fit because you don't like being tied to a religion that is so ingrained into the culture that shit like "oh my god" and "Jesus Christ" are common expressions of surprise regardless of how atheist you are. Like surely I'm not the only atheist to notice the shocking amount of cultural religious shit that works it's way into my life and speech despite having not set foot in a church since I was like 10, and I can't remember the last time I was in one before that.
Idk man cultural Christianity seems like a pretty damn useful term to describe my relationship with a religion I never fully bought into and then actively rejected as a child yet still hold weird connections to and knowledge of just because Christianity is so baked into the culture I grew up in like it or not. If you want to be mad, be mad at the Christians who stole your freedom from religion from you, not usually religious minorities who discuss cultural Christianity and how it damages them too.
