If you have a cold and test negative for COVID you are not in the clear. Tests take a while to turn positive. Meanwhile you are spreading COVID to family and friends. Mask up if you have any symptoms. This virus is just evil.

Interior Health (IH) has completely withdrawn its COVID-19 rapid antigen tests (RAT) from its facilities.

This is according to an internal memo obtained by Global News.

“(The rapid tests) are not reliable for diagnosis of COVID-19,” the memo stated.

“As such COVID-19 RAT testing can no longer be used to direct clinical care or infection prevention and control measures, and must be discontinued immediately in Interior Health affiliated emergency rooms, hospitals, long-term care facilities (and) outpatient settings.”

Every time I have a day at the neuro clinic I have sooo many stories for u guys like I really had to go out of my way today not to spam the dash w how this one visit went. So much tea

#This patient was diagnosed w FTD since 2013 but it makes no sense bc most cases see a life expectancy of 2 years since the diagnosis #And the neurologist I shadow was telling me how the patient and his wife have a “troubled marriage” & she can’t tell how much of it is her #Ranting and how much of it is actually pathological. Potentially a misdiagnosis which is insane #A stark difference from the first case I saw where the FTD patient was a heart surgeon diagnosed in October #And he had a rapid decline since then :( #Also my neurologist is so smart like she could tell from very simple cognitive tests if the dementia is FTD or is from other areas #Of the brain #I watched in awe today while she looked over a couple of memorization exercises and just casually listed diff parts of the brain #Im actually so in love w her rn #She’s also rly funny #This is my goal in life I want to be her one day

just going to say stock up on rapid tests and test often/on any suspicion of symptoms or exposure. my symptoms are literally mostly headache, back pain, and fatigue… sore throat and cough have definitely been mild enough that without rapid tests, i wouldn't have thought i had a viral infection and would've gone to work all week and exposed everyone to covid 🤷‍♀️

What are the implications for public health practice?

Rapid antigen tests can aid in identifying infectiousness of persons infected with SARS-CoV-2 and providing access to diagnostic testing for persons with COVID-19 symptoms. it interesting how gastroparesis (delay stomach emptying) & dumping syndrome (rapid stomach emptying) can look so similar even though it like. technically opposite.

to point where doctor & i wonder if gastroparesis, but gastric emptying study come back and say “…actually, your stomach emptying kind of fast”
