today i am sad thinking about how billy didn't have a single person in his life who cared about him or looked after him. we can assume that neil stopped really being there for billy after his mom left, so he most likely became independent and stopped asking people for help once he realized his mom wasn't coming back. he started pushing people away and getting tougher to please his dad, when all he really wanted was for his mom to come back and for someone to hear him.

he had no one throughout possibly ten years of his life and died with the knowledge that no one cared enough to save him. he saved his mom from his dad as much as he could but she still abandoned him. he saved a town he hated but ended up dying for people who would later on barely acknowledge his existence and what he did for them. like oh my goodness this kid was so selfless.

he spent his entire life looking after people who didn't care enough about him to look after him in return. every time susan looked away from him when neil hit him, he probably felt so stupid and little and worthless. billy was a kid forced to be a caretaker before he could even enter his twenties, a caretaker for people who didn't care about him.

I DID MY COMEDY PERFORMANCE TODAY!!! in front of like 200 people!!! and i didnt stutter or forget what to say!!! and people laughed!!!

#i wasnt THE funniest other performances got better reactions but that was largely because the people performing were popular #point is people laughed !! two girls i barely know came up to me after and said i was really good! (thank you nikita and i forgot your name #and according to one of my friends some mullets were making fun of me during my thing and then a popular girl behind them was like #hey stop dont do that #so thats cool #and the girl whos lockers next to mine also complimented my comedy thing after so that was nice #+ one of the other ppl performing who i used ro be super good friends with (years ago) was very engaged and laughing which was nice :-) #we may not be close friends anymore but yk its nice to still get along 👍 #also two of my friends also performed and they did well too ‼️ it was very cool #anyway im very proud of myself for being able to perform in front of that many people cos i have literally never done that #the last time i spoke to an audience of more than 30 people was year 4 assembly and that was like 100 ppl max #so yea im very happy lol. especially considering that the past three years weve been doing persuasive speeches instead of comedy #(comedy was introduced this year to try it out instead of persuasive speeches) #and for the past 2 years ive done my speeches to just the teacher and a few friends cos i dont like giving persuasives to the whole class #(which i still feel tbh) but like. i can do comedy and play a character in front of an audience! which is pretty awesome

And put more tension between her paranormal podcasting persona and real life skepticism #don't love stuff that engages with true crime fans without actively critiquing it. just finished interviewing bellini for one of my finals in my comedy class and i'm losing my mind over bellini going on a tangent about how if he were grading my comedy over the past year he would give me an A+. like i didn't ask him to say that and it wasn't related to any of the questions i asked but you better believe i'm leaving that in to be like see professor? BELLINI gave me an A+!!!

#it was very sweet lmao and a great conversation over all #last time i was in town i told bellini a one-liner i came up with about the 2SLGBTQIA+ acronym having the exact qualifications #for a strong password (8 letters a number and a special character) and he said he's repeated it to several people #and it's always gotten a big laugh!! which is so cool!!! i'm not typically a ''joke'' writer my stuff is usually character-driven #so that's awesome that both bellini AND scott really loved that line!! #bellini in particular has been such a fan of my comedy since we first met (across multiple eras now) #like we met while i was working on my musical ''other girls'' and he was so excited to hear about it when i first mentioned it #and had me send him the recording as soon as i got it #and he's been so helpful in developing aubrey as a solo sketch character too #it's so cool having a professional comedian (especially one with such a meticulously good ear for comedy like bellini) #be as excited about my work as i am and be able to help me refine it into something even better #and especially as a queer comedian today who's finding it difficult to navigate this landscape of being ''bad representation'' #bellini having been an openly gay comedy writer for almost double my lifetime is such a great resource to have!! #of course a lot of this is true for scott too (tho scott hasn't actually *seen* any of my comedy yet. he's just heard me tell jokes from it #but bellini is such a special mentor for me and i'm so happy we randomly connected over mouth congress over a year ago

some of you never grew up in a small conservative town as a (gay) nerd that was bullied, harassed, and excluded for years on end for not fitting in and for visibly and enthusiastically liking geek things—geek things that then branded you a satanist in everyone's eyes and as something Other, Lesser, and Undoubtedly Unworthy of Basic Human Decency even though you were literally just an actual child with harmless interests and not a satanist or an evil disgusting subhuman thing, and it shows.

you cannot apply modern views and beliefs to a show that is set in the eighties, especially not when it's set in conservative midwest eighties which is a whole other beast. being a socially awkward and nonconforming geek is something that people STILL get bullied for if you don't do it in a way that the majority deems "acceptable", especially if you live in a conservative, religious area.

your experiences are not universal and your inability to relate to a certain motif or story does not make it "lesser" or "bad writing."
