Zionism existed before the holocaust but gained a larger movement afterward due to the genocide of Jewish people. Its solution was the apartheid nation state that is Israel that pushed out indigenous Palestinians for the sake of making right by the Jews. The problem is that the European countries that persecuted the Jewish people didn’t have to pay the reparations, they instead colonised a pre-existing Arab state as payment. Zionism is fundamentally fucked up and the genocide of Israel is not surprising given its long connection with anti Arab sentiments.

This interview of Ussama Makdisi is much more eloquent in explaining the details of this concept as he is an Arab historian and has a lot of expertise on the subject. Hopefully this helps inform someone about the separation between Zionism and Judaism and why being anti-Israel isn’t anti-Jew but pro-indigenous people and pro Arabic nations.
