Remember that "Apple is Isu Skype" where Desmond gets called all the time? Well, imagine the entire thing being down to other Isu trying to call Dionysus... And end up getting Desmond. It all results with Isu thinking Dionysus somehow manages to survive the Cataclysm.
Half the reason Hades keeps calling Desmond, nephew? It because he completely refuses to believe Desmond is human. And if Desmond is not human, and looks like Dionysus - then Dionysus he must be. He had seen those facial features on his brother and Demeter way too many times
Things get really odd when Rebecca manages to get into some old Temple databases and finds what looks like Desmond in a toga. She then makes the poor choice of telling Shaun of what she found
...needless to say, Shaun starts nursing a new conspiracy theory
(and no, he did not have that picture peinted. And if he did, it's for reference purposes only)
A refresher for the Apple is Isu Skype idea.
Okay, but this works well with one of the ideas before where you asked what if Hades was Desmond’s father and I proposed we make him the Isu Zagreus (with Tinia as his father, making Minerva his aunt).
While we’re at it, let’s take into consideration how Orphism believed Zagreus died and was reborn as Dionysus and how Altaïr’s Codex specifically noted Dionysus as a ‘being’ that had been revived/reborn (pg11) in this scenario…
Let’s say Hades was in charge of the ‘souls’ in the Afterlife.
Now, Odyssey really laid on the mythology part thick but what if the Afterlife (the Underworld, Elysium, and everything else it encompasses) is the basis of both the Animus and the Mead?
As far as I could remember, we never see any deceased Isu in the Afterlife, only humans.
What if the Afterlife program kept on copying and storing the data of all dead humans?
The idea is the Afterlife Program that Hades was in charge of had been created to retain all possible data of dead humans.
This, of course, includes their memories which means that the memory seals could be an offshoot program. And the Animus was created using both the blueprints of the memory seals and what records they could find about the device that operates and maintains the Afterlife.
But why would they do such a thing?
What if the initial idea of the Afterlife is that humans were not meant to reproduce, that they were meant to die and then be revived in a younger body with all their memories intact, making it faster for them to return to work. Elysium houses the data of the exemplary slaves, the best of the crop. The others go to the other parts of the Afterlife (with Tartarus being the part where the data of the ‘defects’ go so they won’t be loaded again).
It was only a bit later that the Isus realized it takes too many resources to keep creating bodies based on human data (DNA) so the next batch of humans could reproduce.
By then, Hades was still kept in charge of the Afterlife Program and that’s where his annoyance (maybe it even turned to disdain and hatred) towards his brothers, one heralded as one of the greatest Isu scientists and one becoming the ruler of one of the most prominent Isu cities, starts.
And then everyone was scrabbling to find a way to save themselves from the Solar Flare and…
That’s when tragedy struck.
Perhaps it was an accident, perhaps there was foul play, no one could confirm but Zagreus, one of the Isu scientists under Hades died and his human slave goes missing.
The missing slave was ignored for now as only Zagreus even cared about her, treating her more like a companion than a slave which many Isus have scoffed at, but Zagreus’ death had brought an unintentional boon.
He’s already dead, why not use him as the test subject for the prototype of the Mead, currently hitting a dead end after the late Consus’ research had been used up completely? Aita was the one who suggested it but it was Juno who whispered to Tinia’s ear that his son could live once more if the experiment was successful. If not, what does he have to lose?
So, with Tinia’s blessing (and Minerva’s apprehension), they uploaded Zagreus’ data to the Afterlife, becoming the first Isu to be added to the Afterlife, and they recreated his body.
There were complications though…
The one who was born from Zagreus’ data looked like him, yes, but he didn’t have the telltale signs of an Isu. If anything, he looked more like a human than an Isu.
And he did not have any of Zagreus’ memories.
They named him Dionysus to separate him from Zagreus and he was given a title. Less than an Isu but more than a human…
He was a Sage.
Aita and Juno used the data they got to further the development of the mead while Dionysus was left to do whatever he wanted. He was useless to the Isu now that he lost Zagreus’ memories and the Solar Flare was far too near already that trying to teach Dionysus what Zagreus’ knew would simply be a fool’s errand at this point.
So Dionysus became a beacon of sorts. Instead of dreading death, he celebrated life. Instead of wasting his time trying to remember who he was a Zagreus, he held parties and invited everyone, humans and Isus alike.
Orgies were also a common occurrence because the end of the world was near so why not celebrate what time they have left with passion and love?
He was even the one to suggest to Tinia to host the big party that Odin would later infiltrate after Tinia had lost all hope and was spiraling into despair. Tinia knew he wasn’t Zagreus anymore but he was born of Zagreus and that is why he liked to call him ‘grandson’ instead.
And when Minerva finally looked into the calculations for one last ditch effort to save the world.
She saw it.
A series of calculations that would lead to the birth of Desmond Miles.
Less than an Isu but more than a human…
The next Sage to carry Zagreus’ data.
However…
To ensure that Desmond Miles would be born as Zagreus’ Sage…
Dionysus needed to die.
Unorganized Data:
So the idea is Desmond’s 0.9% Isu genes is because he’s Zagreus’ Sage. It’s less than the usual Sage we get but that’s because Dionysus (and Desmond) was the first Sage to be created, the proto-Sage if you will.
That 0.9% is a good thing though because it means Zagreus’ data won’t interfere with his personality, the same way Dionysus didn’t have any of Zagreus’ memories as well. Minerva needed it to be Desmond because any other Sage risks the chance that they’d let the world burn and become the new ruler of what remains.
The orgies are there to ensure Dionysus’ Isu genes get passed on to what will later be the Ibn-La'Ahad and the Auditore-Kenway bloodline.
Zagreus’ human slave is deliberately not named but she would be the ancestor of the Ibn-La'Ahad bloodline and had returned to his side when he was reborn as Dionysus. (If you want to add more drama, the slave was the reason for the accident that killed Zagreus but it was meant to kill her and Zagreus saved her at the cost of his life)
Shaun and Rebecca will start… well… not really putting the pieces back together but more like getting wild conspiracy theories if they get actual Isu memories than include Dionysus or Zagreus because they look exactly like Desmond. They believe he may be Desmond’s Isu ancestor.
The main reason why everyone is okay with Desmond asking questions that should be 'common sense' or 'common knowledge' is because they all know Dionysus doesn't know much so they're more forgiving and Desmond/Dionysus is charming enough that they don't mind explaining it anyway (since the Apple Zoom calls technically only happens a fraction of a second in real time anyway)

no but what's the reason for basim/loki to show his memories to william if it's not to show him how you get rid of someone lurking in you head so desmond could be free

CODEXTOBER 2022 - DAY 5 : ISU
Isu is the theme today.
I'm not going to lie: I don't like the Isu. I don't really care about them.
So a really quick sketch because I also have birthday to attend today (I literally am posting this on my phone)

Thinking more of the “ancestors can hear Desmond” AU but am too tired to have like full thoughts so like rapid fire?
Desmond gets so used to checking for feathers with Ezio that he does it unconsciously. Connor doesn’t know why Desmond is so intent on finding feathers but he never fails to pick one up when Desmond points it out
Haytham couldn’t hear Desmond. It weirded Desmond out so bad he immediately desynchronized twice because he was so used to having sarcastic mental commentary with Altair and Ezio.
During the memory seals Altair could hear both Desmond and Ezio. It was not a pleasant experience for any of them the first time
Desmond gets songs stuck in their heads that won’t exist for hundreds of years in languages that they have never heard.
Desmond definitely accidentally taught baby Connor to curse in Italian and Arabic. This was mostly an accident.
Ezio and Desmond bicker about home design like an old married couple. (Desmond was right that one painting did look better two inches to the left)
Desmond has told all three of them at some point or another that he is pretty sure he is going to die soon (templars, coma, end of the fucking world) which was what started their need to find a way into the future to help him because none of them could handle thinking about Desmond’s death.
When he’s not in the animus Desmond will occasionally ask something and frown like he was expecting a response he always gets very quiet afterwards and the rest of the team pretends they didn’t notice.
Ezio had to put on a whole show of being surprised when Minerva started talking to Desmond directly (all of them agree whatever the Isu are planning the less they know about Desmond the better). He was not very convincing truth be told.

No actually fuck ubisoft on every level but now I‘m thinking about how they fumbled the modern day and isu stories of ac
It was so cool in the old games, then they kill off their main protagonist, kill the main villain in a random comic 3 years later and just kind of ??? their way through it all until they just gave up
We had such cool things going on with minerva, juno, subject 16, the glyphs, desmond‘s son, the bleeding effect… but whatever I guess

When you add tags like “OR both Ezio and Altaїr being brought back by Desmond (accidentally) during Solar FlareExcept something went... Wrong” in that post I immediately think “yandere time? Yandere time???” (I might have been reading yandere isekai manwhas lately) What if when Desmond activated the device, it needed a way to disperse all the power it received from the Solar Flare, otherwise it would burn Desmond up. (1/?)
So instead, it used the power to make Desmond’s foremost thought a reality. However, Desmond wasn’t thinking of anything ‘nice’. He was in a lot of pain and he just… He remembered the pain and anger of knowing that everything that he has done, his entire life… He had been dancing to the tune of someone else. The Assassins…The Templars… Even those years he spent on the run, being a simple bartender… He had simply been dancing the tune that the Isus had been playing the entire time. (2/?) He wanted someone… anyone… He just wanted to be someone’s priority, for once. For once, he wanted someone who would be by his side, to accept him for who he is and to… Just… make everything stop. And that’s what the device latched into. The cries of a man in pain, wishing for freedom he believed he never had in the first place. Although, it was too abstract so the device made a few tweaks of its own to make it ‘feasible’. (3 of 4) It created two representatives of Desmond’s wish, formed from the two men Desmond had achieved a Synch Nexus with. They were copies with a similar personality to the originals, with the memories that Desmond had thanks to the Bleeding Effect. But they were created with a ‘condition’. They were created to do whatever was necessary to protect Desmond and to grant his every desire and wish.… In whatever way they can. (4/4)
You made me get out my eerie music playlist for writing
See when the Temple went in for the one option it had to disperse the energy, it went at it hard. Creating a body and uploading the memories that Desmond has personally observed was not enough. It would get rid of part of the buildup, true, but not nearly enough to guarantee it’s Admin user (…yeah let’s pretend Isu also used something like that) will survive
Nor could it guarantee the memories would be enough to make the simulacrums function independently
So instead – with the shield the Temple was generating, it looked for everything. It scoured all that could be pulled from the genetic memories Desmond carried. It scoured everything that was left behind from Juno. It scoured all the remnant information that was available to any of the pieces of Eden. And then it used those to create the “interface” for the “protectors”
Altaїr’s replica wasn’t just Altaїr left behind in his descendant’s genome. He was also the memory of every contemporary Templar that handed a piece of Eden. He was the memory of every person who still had traceable lineage that interacted with him. He was every shred of Minerva’s calculation that referred to him
It was the same for Ezio. The only difference being – Ezio had much more “source” material to go with, given that (and let’s go with fanon here) he had many more direct descendants
A lot of people whose recollections went into recreating them didn’t have the same rose-ish tinted glasses Desmond did. They were just this side of sharper, just this side of terrified
Collecting all that data… Was enough to burn off what the Temple was not going to use to reconstruct the bodies
Desmond still suffered through it. Some of him still burned – but not in the way heat charred flesh and destroyed nerves. It was the burn of circuitry, much like that of Isu, etching itself into his body. After all, the Temple had to go by the “parameters” that were “set by the Admin”
When both Altaїкand Ezio came to – Desmond was the brightest, most golden thing either of them had ever seen
This alone was enough to snap them into gathering him, and the Apple, first – there was no time to question each other, not when they had to *act* first
Random thoughts:
They do not leave the Temple. Well, not at once – and Altaїr, being the most familiar and thus most “attached” to Isu tech – makes good use of being able to access the system
Both, at some point before Desmond wakes up, find out they are not the originals and there is a bout of freaking out. Surprisingly, it’s Ezio who deals with it first – for the sheer force of habit. It wasn’t the first time he was yanked around by the “gods”
Sharing body heat is going to be a thing. We ARE talking about meters upon meters of stone. It doesn’t keep heat well
Ezio is also the one who spend more time holding vigil over Desmond. At least since the moment Altaїr managed to divine Desmond’s name from the system
Abstergo still tried to get inside the Temple. They don’t have a good time out of it – not against two Master Assassins who are much more familiar with direct combat. That one of them is semi-familiar with firearms and the other has control over the building they are in becomes stuff of nightmares
At some point, Abstergo deems recovering anything from Temple a lost cause
At least one instance of Desmond thinking he is dead when he wakes up, and speaking accordingly. Ezio freaks out. Which causes Desmond to freak out. Altaїr is the one who ends up having to talk them into calming down

returning to my occasional ac obsession, my Desmond Miles Isu headcanon is that the Isu ancestor he is directly descended from would be Phoebus (Apollo), who was involved in the creation of the technology that eventually allowed Desmond to save the world from the sun. in the minds of the mortals, Phoebus's research lead him to be called the god of the sun. I mean, come on, there's an actual god of the sun and they used Jupiter, Minerva, and Juno instead? Phoebus must have been involved in that tech.
we know Desmond has an extremely rare high concentration of Isu blood, more than his father and enough for him to control the Apple, so he probably has genetics from more than one Isu ancestor, but I like to think that when Minerva and Jupiter and Juno see him in the timeline, they recognize him as the son of Phoebus, destined to control the wrath of the sun, as well as a son of man
i love the ~mythical aspects~ and the glowing demi-god bartender who just wants a nap and his sanity back please

Some Assassin's Creed Cultivation fic ideas...
1 Desmond Miles transmigrates into Yue Qingyuan's body the same time as Shen Yuan transmigrates into Shen Qingqiu's. No one notices. Mostly because they're too busy trying to figure out if Shen Qingqiu is possessed, but also because Desmond's ability to roll with things looks a lot like Yue Qingyuan's habit of rolling over.
2 Wei Wuxian figures that, as a Demonic Cultivator, he should do some Demon Summoning. Unbeknownst to himself, his way of controlling Resentful energies of very much like programming when you break it apart into its basic components. Desmond has no idea why he's a demon all of sudden - but it's better than being dead.
3 Experimenting with the Apple of Eden, Ezio and Leonardo break into another reality and decide to go on adventure because, hey, magic. Minerva sends Desmond after them.
4 Altaïr figured out Cultivation through the Apple of Eden and cultivated into immortality and possessing various reality breaking powers - and was promptly kicked out of Earth by Isu. Technically Ezio is his first disciple, despite the fact that they never met - he also was kicked out and into another reality, to keep him from spreading his knowledge. Yeah. Desmond is having a very confusing time in the Animus.
5 The Assassin's Brotherhood of Masyaf was actually a cultivation sect, though no one has the frame of reference to really recognise it as such. Least of all Desmond who, while in the Animus, assumed most of Altaïr's abilities and his cultivation, and is now proceeding along the same tracks utterly unaware of what he's doing. By the time he starts learning about Ezio's life, Desmond already has cultivated his core to the point of inedia, staying in the Animus days at a time without eating or drinking. Somehow, no one notices. Not until the Grand Temple tries and fails to kill by then Immortal Desmond Miles - the Ignorant Master of Cultivation.

What pokémon would the Isu have!
This is most certainly connected to our ongoing “Pokemon AU” where… we mostly just focused on Desmond’s Pokemon team because it’s clear who our favorite is. XD
So… this won’t be complete teams and I’m just going for the Pokemons I kinda know (disclaimer: I’ve only finished 1 Pokemon in my entire life: Red and I used to remember the Pokemon rap for Gen 1 but not anymore XD)
A few of these picks are from the Pokemon AU reblog thread with @thewolfprince
Also a few legendaries here because the Isus are an ancient powerful race and they’re self-centered and arrogant enough to have legendaries.
Let’s start with the Capitoline Triad we know:
Minerva:
Because they’re the main Isus we know from the Desmond saga games, they will have the first legendaries, the Kanto legendary birds. For Minerva: Articuno, mainly because of Articuno’s Galarian form becomes Psychic type (which can be a reference to how she used Ezio to contact Desmond)
Absol: @saberamane mentioned in our discussion of which Pokemon Desmond could have that Absol has the whole 'sensing disasters' thing and tries to warn people which Minerva did try to do by leaving a message to Desmond via Ezio.
Gothitelle because it can predict the future and, apparently, can see the lifeline of its trainer (more reference to Minerva’s part in Desmond's life)
From @zero-saito: Zygarde since they are observers of nature and calamity
One of Athena’s most known symbols is the shield so… maybe Zamazenta or, if you don’t want her to have another legendary, Shieldon
Noctowl: Another symbol usually associated with Athena is the owl
Tinia:
Legendary Kanto Bird: Zapdos, Tinia is also known as Jupiter and Zeus, so he gets the thunder type legendary bird.
Aegislash (Aegis is the name of Zeus’ shield BUT Aegis is also usually associated with Athena/Minerva as well but Minerva already has a lot of Pokemons so yeah. Aegislash can be either Minerva’s or Tinia’s)
These Pokemons are related to the animals Zeus turned himself into for… sexy times: Tauros (bull) and Swanna (swan)
Juno:
Legendary Kanto Bird: Moltres because the Galarain form becomes Dark type which does have a Pokedex entry of “Victims become burned-out shadows of themselves.” which can be applied to Clay.
Quaquaval: Apparently peacock is a sacred animal of Hera
Okay, so these next ones are based on Juno and Aita’s Olympos Project so these Pokemons can be Juno’s and/or Aita’s:
Dusknoir (Cyclops)
Tangela (Gorgon)
Tauros??? (Minotaur)
Shinx… maayybbee??? (Sphinx)
Dugtrio or Dodrio (Cerberus… look, there’s no three-headed canine-like Pokemon XD)
Lycanroc (Midnight Form) or Lycanroc (Dusk Form) (Werewolf)
Machamp (Hekatonchires… it’s the closest I could find XD)
Any Pokemons belonging to Aita will also be Pokemons his Sages will have.
For the Valhalla Isus, I’m just gonna focus on Odin and Loki:
Odin:
Legendary Beast: Raikou
Corvisquire for his ravens (evolves as a Corvknight when Eivor gets it)
Loki (Aletheia too for Fenrir, Midgarsormen and Hel):
Legendary Beast: Suicune
Rapidash (Sleipner)
Poochyena for baby Fenrir… keep him as Poochyena. Possible alternative: non-Midnight version of Lycanroc
Serperior or Seviper (Midgardsormen) or, if you want to go Legendary, Rayquaza
Froslass for Hel, as a reference to her ruling over Niflheim (also dual type ice and ghost - Hel rules over those who died of sickness or old age)
Sidenote: Tyr gets Entei

For Mermay I don’t think I saw you do Basim or Hytham last year? It would also be cool to see some of the templars like Starrick? I’d suggest the isu but I know you hate them (and frankly I got beef with most of them). My knowledge of marine life is very slim so I apologize if this isn’t much help ;w;
Oh it’s all good !!!!! I’d love to explore them this year ! Additionally while I don’t really like the isu, I think I figured out a role for them within my merfolk au lore !! I’d be free for taking suggestions on Basim and Hytham since you’re more familiar with em (my first thought for Basim is maybe a coelacanth since he’s a lot older/literally has an old soul than he lets on)
Not merfolk but some of the ac syndicate Templars being humans rather than mers? I can see starrick as being the ceo of a fishing enterprise that shuts down sustainable practices, doesn’t give a shit how overfishing hurts biomes and encourages culling sharks regularly. And the Frye twins (who probably will never meet him) just like to disrupt business. (I don’t have a set story at all for this au it’s just brainstorming for fun!!)
For the isu, they would based off of mythical ocean figures (Greek and Roman centric inspired since that’s their inspiration, naming off Minerva and juno etc)
And through experimentation created merfolk but then some disaster struck and the isu are gone, but now merfolk of all sorts populate the oceans n have their own societies and whatever
But that genetic tampering is also why genetics are a wild card for these mers?? Like more often than not offspring won’t be the same species as the parents or will sometimes even be from an entirely different family
Like how ezio and Claudia, despite both being dolphins, are different species (striped and spinner) for a mild example
More glaringly, Ratonhnhaké:ton’s family lineage (Haytham being a frilled shark, Ziio being a leopard seal, Edward being a tiger shark) yet Connor’s an orca.
I hope that’s alright!

Assassin's Creed x John Wick Crossover
I'm on a fucking roll today. Okay, so:
Desmond Lives (that's a given) and the world is saved. Horray!
He has all his memories and POE-enhanced abilities.
He gets thrown back to the day he ran away from The Farm as a reward from Minerva. Assassins and Templars are still a thing but now both factions are in steady decline because of Isu Bullshit mucking up the past and future because of the Solar Flare messing up the POE and the Grand Temple that sent shockwaves from Desmond's sacrifice which completely alters the whole timeline.
He still likes to work as a bartender, cause he's good at it. Only now he also doubles as a bouncer, because he has a few issues due to instincts, some trauma and ptsd from his past to work through, that beating the stuffing out of rowdy assholes has become a wonderful outlet for. No one wants to cause trouble on his shift.
People start to talk about the teenage bartender with the sketchy past that beat the living daylights out of a brute of a tough guy harassing the staff and customers at the bar he worked at. Said brute of a tough guy was later found dead a few alleys over, inside the dumpster. (Eagle Vision tagged him red-gold, so very important. Very much needs to be dead asap.) They can't prove it's him, but they have a suspicion.
Turns out dead guy is- well, was in trouble with the Continental for doing business on Hotel grounds and had a hit out on his head. Somebody from the staff, happens to end up at the bar and hears about the rumors that their newest bartender was the one who did him in, sees said bartender in question and low and behold, Des is there being all sweet and charming the tips straight out of peoples wallets without a care in the world.
"No way... him? But he's so-?"
"Nice? Friendly? Looks like he couldn't hurt a fly? Yeah, I know. The guy you were looking for thought so too before he ended up tossed out on his rear. And then he ended up dead in a dumpster. Gary said he saw him follow after Des as soon as his shift ended. Thought the kid was a goner, but nope, came in the next day as fresh as a daisy."
So, the staff guy heads to work the next day and immediately lets Winston know about what he learned. Winton has a background check on Des to see if this is an up-and-coming mercenary and finds... nothing. This kid just appeared out of nowhere with the talent of a very skilled killer.
(The Assassins and Templars are either completely written off by most of the criminal underworld as fanatical cultists or are unheard of by a majority of the criminal population. They don't work with crazy cultists. It's just too much trouble.)
Winston, of course is very intrigued. Enough to give Des a chance and hire him to work at the Hotel bar. Talent like that should be nurtured, no?
So, Winston has Charon scout him out and offer him a business card saying if he's interested he could go work for them. And Desmond's boss and other fellow staff are all begging him to consider it because of the Continental's fame and prestige would mean he'd get better pay and even a better life other than serving drunks and rowdy frat kids in a hole in a wall his whole life. They like the kid, but they think he deserves better.
Desmond, meanwhile, thinks that the way the amount of people showing gold in his vision has been increasing since he started working there should have sent him running... But, his instincts have never led him astray before and they surely wouldn't now. So, he goes.
The premise of this whole idea is, Desmond goes back in time after the Solar Flare Fiasco of 2012, runs away to New York and ends up wrapped up in the John Wick universe, and proceeds to inadvertently turns the New York Continental and its associate businesses and partners into a modern-day Assassin Brotherhood without them or the High Table actually knowing it's an Assassin Brotherhood. (The Elder might know, but I'd think he's a Hidden One Sage allied with Minerva, whose glad her chosen has fulfilled his duty and is more than happy to let him have the Hotel.)

Isu
I wrote a fic a while back for Codextober and the ever talented @ramshackledtrickster drew some beautiful art that just vibes with it so much!! Big kudos to you!
Tumblr media
He couldn't hear any more of the words from the Isu as they acknowledged you. Maybe he didn't want to accept it, the unbearable truth. You, an immortal who had been alive as long as his family line had, tracking down the same artifacts. Only to get close to him and just use him for your own goals.
If Desmond had noticed anything in his confused state, even you seemed hesitant to accept the praise from Minerva and Juno. You didn't want it to be this way, for him to find out so soon. To have your heart fall in love with this man that embodied every quality you admire. To have your heart torn in two between your allegiance and this mortal.
A choked plea turned your head towards him. Eyes brimmed with unshed tears and sorrow. You had seen that look many a time in your long lifetime, yet this reaction from Desmond pulled at you the most.
"Was it all just for yourself? Did-you ever care? About us? Me?"
"I did, Desmond. But I had a job to do as well."

Theory: Wizards all have traces of Isu-DNA.
Maybe magic is Isu-nonsense, or maybe Isu figured out how to activate it in their toys/slaves or it was an accidental side-effect of something and that's why the ye-olde humans were able to revolt. I mean you apparently have mythical/godly figures secretly wizards in the books/games so I can see the wizards thinking Juno and Minerva and whatnot were also ye-olde wizards. If they know about the Isu it might be some kind of "Wizard Atlantis" with "idealized" pureblood nonsense. If nothing else, Eagle Eye is 100% a magical ability.
Also have a dumb thought:
Desmond: "Okay, we finally got all the Apples of Eden. That takes care of the problem of mind-controlling artifacts of doom."
Jerkass Wizards, seeding cursed items among muggles: "just a prank lol."
Death Eaters: "lol imperio"
Desmond: "... really. Really."
Wait I love this idea. Like certain humans with Isu DNA get the trait of interfacing with the technology without harm while others through a weird mix of accidents get full magic and with that power they were actually able to break free. (Eve was a witch?) This could also open the door of people like Desmond being squibs which makes his ability to use Eagle Vision even funnier. Also the incompatibility between tech and magic is a sort of innate memory in them trying to interface with Isu tech but human technology not being able to handle it or something? Many possibilities.
God Desmond would be So Upset the more he finds out about magic and wizards okay. Like not only is he still hunting down and recovering from Isu nonsense (and sometimes can’t look at his own arm that is now Isu nonsense itself) but now he has to be on the look out for biting toasters and weird guys with sticks that can control minds? He would be so damn tired.
Eagle vision also gives a great excuse for him to be able to see through wards so really this man would walk lawless in the Magical World. He has a hidden blade, years of trauma both his and not, and a New York bartender attitude. Dumbledore does not stand a chance. Neither do the Death Eaters… nor any random wizard who thinks they can cause chaos in Desmond’s city.
