I don’t follow you long enough to know this so sorry if it’s old news, but what do you think about vm 2nd place in 2008 worlds? Should’ve been first?? Got lowballed in the cd?
No worries, nonny, it is not old news at all!
I think they 100% deserved the silver, but it makes total sense why they didn’t win the gold.
I don’t actually think they were low-balled in the compulsory, I think that Delobel and Schoenfelder were over scored in their compulsory to give them a bit of an edge. They hadn’t won worlds yet and were a team that had been at the top for a while, vm were only second year seniors, D/S got bronze at the gpf and vm were 4th earlier in the season, D/S were the European champions the year before and silver in 08′, etc.
Plus, vm had that twizzle mistake in the original dance that put them too far behind, but they came back and won the free dance, which they absolutely deserved. It goes without saying that Tessa and Scott were/are better skaters than Isabelle and Olivier, they couldn’t twizzle to save their lives, and were quite clunky, grew up in a pre-IJS ice dance world, etc. -- but they had the experience and “interesting” programs and the seniority.
And that’s the way the cookie crumbles...
But...fast forward two seasons, Tessa and Scott win the Olympics and D/S are 6th...so..... :)

So you know which figure skaters male or female has child and are still competing?
Back when Plushenko competed during Sochi era he had a kid and nowadays (that I know of) Takahito Mura has a daughter who was born in May 2013.
I don’t know of any currently competing ladies with children but Ekaterina Gordeeva came back to competition after having a child and at the Vancouver Olympics Isabelle Delobel came back to competition after having a baby.
Though now retired, Tatiana Volosozhar have resumed training for skating in shows and they are waiting to see what their condition is later in the year and next season before making a decision to return for the Olympics or not.

Are there any skaters with children or married and still competing?
Plenty of men. It’s much rarer for women to go back to competitive skating after giving birth, though, because it can be difficult to return to competitive shape. In recent memory, Miki Ando went back to training a few months after giving birth to her daughter in April 2013. She competed at the 2013 Japanese Nationals and retired afterwards. Isabelle Delobel, an ice dancer, gave birth in October 2009. She returned to training and made it to the 2010 Olympics with her partner, where they finished 6th, then retired afterwards.

Watching VirtueMoir brought back my love for figure skating and it made me think of this dance by Delobel & Schoenfelder, one of my favourite routines to this very day.

Do you think VM would’ve still won Van if Isabel delobel hadn’t gotten pregnant?
for sure and no doubt about it!!
vm won the free dance in 2008 when d/s won gold at worlds, vm and canton style and the new generation of teams were on the rise and all the older couples who transitioned into ijs and couldn’t twizzle to save their lives were very much on the way out

Coaching All Change
October / November 2014
There’s been a big change in coaching staff at the club, which meant a weeks break in between the old coach leaving and the new team arriving.
It’s pretty big news for our small club as the new coach is 2008 world champion Ice dancer Isabelle Delobel. Ok, at the time this meant nothing to me - the world of figure skating is all new to us ! Our town Mayor is there to welcome in the new staff - I’m pretty sure that doesn’t happen every time they hire someone !
Isabelle is very friendly and down to earth, and is certainly working very hard in her new roll as trainer to all our kids. How fantastic for all the kids to have a world champion training them - really something to inspire them.
I’m totally blown away by the opportunities our kids have where we live in general - I would have loved the chance to do half the things they do just with school when I was their age. The chance to be trained by a world champion is amazing - I hope that they enjoy every minute of it and don’t take it for granted.
