Not enough people understand the true nature of Jurassic Park methinks. Can it be enjoyed as a dinosaur horror? Absolutely. But I personally think it's much more enjoyable as a biological sci-fi. These aren't dinosaurs, they are biological monsters made in the shape of dinosaurs. They cut corners, they used frog DNA to fill in what they didn't have. John Hammond brought these experts along to see if their reactions would be "Oh my god that's a dinosaur" and then moved along when it was exactly that. But idk, that's just me.

The Diplomat is sort of The Thick of It meets (a bit of) Downton Abbey meets The West Wing meets a very heavy dose of Spooks, which, of course, means I am in complete love with it. Also, it’s got a main character with messy hair who loves wearing black pants daily and has her hands in her pockets all the time, there was no way I wasn’t going to love her and it.

Also, bloody excellent portrayal of a long-term relationship on the rocks between people who have also been working together professionally for a long time. The way you know how the other person thinks, acts, and desires. And the way they managed to write some quiet beauty into the private scenes in between the politics and the shenanigans. 

I have a feeling the median age of tumblr might just be a bit too much on the young side for The Diplomat to ever turn into a big thing here, but...if any of you liked the shows I named above, and haven’t seen this one...give it a try.
