🐐: La Calzada del Gigante. Ya sabéis cuál es el proceso geomorfológico por el cual se forman esas peculiares columnas hexagonales que simulan a los baldosines de una calzada... ¿Pero porqué la buena gente de Irlanda le dió este nombre? Os cuento la leyenda 😉 Hace 60 millones de años Irlanda se batía en guerra con Escocia, odios y envidias hacían mella en cada uno de sus habitantes, llenos de reproches hacia el vecino del otro lado del mar de Moyle. Fionn mac Cumhaill, gigante irlandés, hastiado de la situación y viendo que no había barco en que cupiera, decidió romper a pedazos la costa de Irlanda del Norte y lanzarlos al mar, de modo que construyó una preciosa calzada que atravesaba el mar por la que dirigirse hacia su enemigo, comenzando por el gigante escocés Benandonner, quien no cesaba en desafiarlo. Una vez en la isla de Staffa, Finn ve el tamaño y la bravura de su enemigo, y decide con impotencia regresar a Irlanda de nuevo sin ser visto. El escocés se entera de lo ocurrido y cruza para encararse con el irlandés. Al llegar a casa, Finn comparte sus pesares con su audaz esposa Oonagh, quien traza el siguiente plan: Oonagh se encargará de recibir al escocés y servirle una taza de té, mientras su marido vuelve a casa. Entretanto, Fionn disfrazado de bebé finge dormir en una cuna; Benandonner, al ver una cría de semejante tamaño, huye despavorido, asustado tan sólo de imaginar cómo debía ser el padre de tal criatura, destrozando a cada zancada el camino construido por Finn para que nunca pudiera darle alcance, de ahí que sólo se conserven los tramos más próximos a las costas. Dolphins at Delamain Lodge I had planned to photograph Delamain Lodge for a while but never thought the day I do, I would also have dolphins as a foreground subject! Yes that’s right! Four young dolphins came to visit Kinvara this afternoon. First Venice now Kinvara 😂 #shootlocal #2k #covid19 I don’t know where they came from, if they got lost or if they came because the bay is so much cleaner now. We have seen so many positive changes in Nature since the pandemic started, or better ... since we had to slow down. 🐐: Volvemos a Irlanda y esta vez para maravillarnos con sus costas y acantilados, empezando por este maravilloso lugar que encontramos casi de casualidad buscando castillos abandonados... Y lo encontramos, en la panorámica grande podéis ver sus ruinas. Lo que no nos esperábamos era que el castillo estuviera localizado en un paraje natural tan armónico y bello como este. Un poco más arriba podéis ver una casa, mientras disfrutábamos de las vistas vi como una chica joven sacaba a su caballo al prado a peinarlo y darle de comer. Al poco salió el perro y se puso a jugar con ellos. No os podéis hacer una idea de lo idílico de aquella imagen. Ampliando podéis intuir en el prado de enfrente de la casa el caballo terminando su comida de paja 😉 ¿Sabéis que me dijo cuando fui a presentarme y le di las gracias porque verla me había hecho feliz? Que si fuera posible se cambiaba conmigo en un abrir y cerrar de ojos, que estaba deseando irse lejos de aquella casa. Me dejó bastante consternado... Para mi todo aquello era un paraíso de ensueño y verla en aquel lugar con sus 19 años hablando de aquello como una cárcel me dio mucho que pensar. . ¿Por qué será que queremos lo que no tenemos? No se trata de conformismo, sino de amar lo que tienes, antes de desear algo de lo que careces... Supongo que aquel proverbio árabe que dice: "Uno se parece más a su tiempo que a su padre" es cierto. Somos hijos de nuestro tiempo, y en este sistema se te espeta en la cara todo aquello de lo que careces y deberías desear tener, ignorando todo lo que tienes.
