I think there's plenty of ethical concerns re: AI art but most people criticizing it fundamentally don't understand how the image generation processes work and are imagining it as very literal 'theft', or are operating on kneejerk reactions about """""Real Art""""" that aren't fundamentally different than any other attempts to separate 'true art' from 'fake lazy art' throughout history, so the conversation is kind of doomed to be bad and annoying from the start

I know that peach game is like. For kids. Im SO aware of it. But its. So fucking cheap???? This is like the bloatware of nintendo games. What is going on here ???? Not to give nintendo even an ounce of credit…but they generally treat their main characters better than this. And especially after seeing mario wonder, its really obvious how poorly put together and boring this game is. Which is such a shame. Bc Super Princess Peach is right there. Go play that instead.

Ruvik will absolutely drive me up a wall sometimes, where I have to repeatedly stop him from chewing on cables, climbing behind my monitors, pouncing on my face when I am trying to sleep, or when he pees somewhere he isn't supposed to
But then he will climb up into my lap and onto my chest while I am at my desk just to go to sleep there, or in bed curl up right beneath my chin to purr against my throat, or on my arm, just always wanting to touch some body part of mine and will even get up to reposition himself after I have shifted away from him a bit
(or like I said before, will wedge himself between my shoulder blades and the back of my chair to doze while I am busy at my desk)
I cannot put into words how much I love him, I didn't realize you could love somebody that much?? I have spent all of my formative years with cats but this is the first one that is mine, truly mine

Understanding the Anatomy of Minecraft Server Files
how to get donate rank in minecraft servers Minecraft, the immensely popular sandbox game developed by Mojang Studios, has captivated millions of players worldwide. One of the key features that sets Minecraft apart is its ability to host multiplayer servers, enabling players to collaborate, compete, and explore vast virtual worlds together. Behind the scenes of these servers lies a complex structure of files and directories that govern the server's functionality. In this article, we will delve into the anatomy of Minecraft server files, shedding light on the key components and their significance. - Server JAR File: At the heart of every Minecraft server is the server JAR (Java ARchive) file. This file contains the necessary Java bytecode to run the server. It is essentially the server's executable file, responsible for initializing and managing the server's operations. The server JAR file can be downloaded from the official Minecraft website or other reputable sources. - Server Properties: The server.properties file is a crucial configuration file that determines various settings for the Minecraft server. It is generated automatically when the server is run for the first time. This file allows server administrators to customize essential parameters such as server name, port number, game mode, difficulty level, and more. Modifying these properties can have a significant impact on the gameplay experience. - World Files: The Minecraft world is where players can build, explore, and interact with the environment. World files contain all the necessary data to represent the virtual world within the server. These files include terrain data, structures, player inventories, and other essential elements. The world files are typically stored in a directory named "world" or "worlds," and each world within the server has its own subdirectory. - Plugins and Mods: Minecraft's extensibility is one of its greatest strengths, allowing players to enhance their gameplay experience through the use of plugins and mods. Plugins are server-side add-ons that provide additional features, such as economy systems, permissions management, and mini-games. Mods, on the other hand, are client-side modifications that alter the game's mechanics and visuals. Both plugins and mods have their respective directories within the server file structure. - Logs and Crash Reports: Monitoring the server's performance and troubleshooting issues are essential tasks for server administrators. Minecraft servers generate log files that record various events and activities, providing valuable insights into server operations. These logs can help diagnose problems, track player actions, and identify potential security concerns. In the event of a server crash, Minecraft also generates crash reports that can be analyzed to pinpoint the cause of the crash. - Whitelist and Ban Lists: Server administrators have the ability to control who can access and play on their Minecraft servers. The whitelist and ban lists are files that contain player usernames and their corresponding access permissions. The whitelist file allows only specified players to join the server, while the ban list denies access to certain players who have violated server rules or engaged in disruptive behavior. Is crucial for server administrators and advanced users who wish to customize and manage their servers effectively. By familiarizing themselves with these files and directories, they gain greater control over the server's functionality, gameplay experience, and overall server administration. It's worth noting that proper care should be taken when manipulating these files. Making incorrect modifications or deleting essential files can lead to server instability or data loss. It is always recommended to make backups before making any significant changes to the server files. Minecraft server files form a complex structure that underlies the operation of multiplayer Minecraft servers. From the server JAR file to the world files, plugins, logs, and configuration files, each component plays a crucial role in shaping the gameplay experience. By understanding these files, server administrators can tailor their servers to meet the needs of their players and create an engaging and enjoyable environment in the virtual world of Minecraft.

I always thought my knock off 360 controller by Voyee felt tremendously terrible.
Turns out, like, 60% of the joysticks are "dead air" as in, at 40% tilt, it's at 100% output, with honest to god 60% not adding anything more to the joystick's input.
That's why when I try to walk in games it's next to impossible, I literally have to move it SO carefully because it's so sensitive, but it's not actually sensitive, it's just the hole for the stick is far too big! This would actually feel unique, and nice, if the holes were smaller.
It's not fixable either, outside of hardware stuff that I don't know how to do. What a fundamentally fatal flaw to an otherwise okay controller. Just shrink the hole, or use the entire tilt of the stick, at least more than 40% shit man.
I really do think just shrinking the holes would give it an identity, just using my thumb to block it and imaging the switch's joysticks, why not make a unique 360 controller.

Google is going to start scraping all of their platforms to use for AI training. So, here are some alternatives for common Google tools!
Google Chrome -> Firefox
If you’re on tumblr, you’ve probably already been told this a thousand times. But FireFox is an open-source browser which is safe, fast and secure. Basically all other browsers are Chrome reskins. Try Firefox Profilemaker, Arkenfox and Librewolf! Alternatively, vanilla Firefox is alright, but get Ublock Origin, turn off pocket, and get Tabliss.
Google Search -> DuckDuckGo
DuckDuckGo very rarely tracks or stores your browsing data (though they have only been known to sell this info to Microsoft). Don’t use their browser; only their search engine. Domain visits in their browser get shared. Alternatively, you can also use Ecosia, which is a safe search engine that uses its income to plant trees! 🌲
Google Reverse Image Search -> Tineye
Tineye uses image identification tech rather than keywords, metadata or watermarks to find you the source of your image!
Gmail -> ProtonMail
All data stored on ProtonMail is encrypted, and it boasts self-destructing emails, text search, and a commitment to user privacy. Tutanota is also a good alternative!
Google Docs -> LibreOffice
LibreOffice is free and open-source software, which includes functions like writing, spreadsheets, presentations, graphics, formula editing and more.
Google Translate -> DeepL
DeepL is notable for its accuracy of translation, and is much better that Google Translate in this regard. It does cost money for unlimited usage, but it will let you translate 500,000 characters per month for free. If this is a dealbreaker, consider checking out the iTranslate app.
Google Forms -> ClickUp
ClickUp comes with a built-in form view, and also has a documents feature, which could make it a good option to take out two birds with one stone.
Google Drive -> Mega
Mega offers a better encryption method than Google Drive, which means it’s more secure.
YouTube -> PeerTube
YouTube is the most difficult to account for, because it has a functional monopoly on long-form video-sharing. That being said, PeerTube is open-source and decentralized. The Internet Archive also has a video section!
However, if you still want access to YouTube’s library, check out NewPipe and LibreTube! NewPipe scrapes YouTube’s API so you can watch YouTube videos without Google collecting your info. LibreTube does the same thing, but instead of using YouTube servers, it uses piped servers, so Google doesn’t even get your IP address. Both of these are free, don’t require sign-ins, and are open source!
Please feel free to drop your favorite alternatives to Google-owned products, too! And, if this topic interests you, consider checking out Glaze as well! It alters your artwork and photos so that it’s more difficult to use to train AI with! ⭐️

I keep seeing posts talking about the WGA/Sag-Aftra strike, which yes, good, but in all this "support writers" sentiment I'm seeing no one talk about book writers, which I think is something people should know more about right now.
We are at an all-time high for book bans, namely targeting queer & PoC-authored books. This means that a lot of schools and libraries are no longer stocking diverse YA books, and if you're not in publishing, you may not realize this but school & libraries are by far one of the biggest markets for diverse YA books.
This means that in 2023, YA book sales are down. This is also in part because Barnes & Noble (the largest physical book retailer in the U.S.) is no longer really stocking YA hardcovers. This means that marginalized authors and debut authors are struggling to sell books.
But it's a LOT worse than that. In the past couple of years, marginalized authors are *really* struggling to get new book deals. Most books are acquired by a publisher about 2 years before they release to the public, so this isn't all that noticeable yet, but a LOT of marginalized authors I've spoken to (myself included) have been unable to sell a new YA book since 2020. So while I had a book out last year, even if I sell one right now, you won't see it until 2025-2026. That's three to four years without a new release or the income I get from publishing those books.
On top of that, Big 5 publishers have started closing imprints (namely their diverse imprints) and have started telling their marginalized YA authors to just go. I've had multiple authors tell me their publisher basically said, "eh, we don't care to put in the work for you anymore. You can just go somewhere else". Of the authors who *are* getting offered new contracts, we're being offered pay far below the cost of living and we're being handed contracts that split our payments 4 or 5 ways and require we sign over our work to be used to train AI so they can replace us a few years down the road.
Authors are freelancers who own our IPs, which means we can't unionize the way Hollywood writers can, and despite authors showing up in droves to support HarperCollins employees when they went on strike for fair wages, we're being hung out to dry when it comes to our own rights.
If you enjoy diverse books, especially diverse YA, please understand that many of the authors you loved over the past 3-5 years are being forced out of the industry. We're being exploited, and we have no way to defend ourselves. Our books sales are drying up thanks to anti-queer legislation, our rights are being eaten up by AI, and our publishers are degrading us while profiting of us and refusing to share those profits with us.
Within the publishing industry, we've all been watching this decline happen over the last decade, but outside of it, I know most people have no idea what's going on so please spread the word. And if you care about diverse books especially in YA, please support marginalized authors in any way you can. The industry needs to be reminded that it needs us before we're all eliminated from it.

In a show of protest, Reddit users are participating in a site-wide blackout due to recent changes, particularly a significant increase in the price of API calls, which are connections between Reddit and third-party applications. Previously costing developers only a few dollars for 50 million API calls, the price has now surged to a staggering $12,000. This surge has led to the closure of many apps designed to enhance the user experience. To amplify their message and disrupt website traffic, thousands of subreddits are observing a self-imposed blackout, prohibiting new posts for a few days. @Fomokun の #DailyCompanion #NFT #IP #IP4 #IP4everyone #Web5 ( #Web3 + #Web2 )
