maybe like bsfs w jack and theres a lot of sexual tension and you end up getting in an argument (kind of the like scene w him and katherine) and they end up getting freakyyy
Sorry it took so long for me to respond to this!! I always find writing smut to be difficult, so I hope this isn’t too much of a hard read <3
“Do it, Jack, I fucking dare you” — jack kelly x reader
Tumblr media
Summary: you and Jack are arguing, which gets heated and you end up fucking
Pairing: Jack Kelly x fem!reader
Word count: 1595
Warnings: angsty, argument, threatening each other, physical violence (kinda), SMUT, 18+, unprotected sex, mature language
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
You and Jack stood in his bedroom, both frustrated at the other, having an argument that’d carried on for hours.
Your voice echoed through the room, laced with frustration, “That's your problem, Jack – you never listen to anyone, ever!”
He started to retort, “Oh, I do not think you are one to talk abo—“
“Talk about what? What, Jack? Talk about what?” you interrupted him.
Jack, visibly irritated, shot back, “You won't even let me finish!”
“Ohhh, so now you're starting to understand how that feels, huh?” you replied, challenging him with a glare.
“If you weren't a girl, god, I'd just strangle you to death,” he threatened, the words hanging heavy in the air.
“Oh, would you? Do it. Go on!” you arked up to him, your defiance unyielding.
“I ain't gonna lay my hands on a g—“
“Do it, Jack, I fucking dare you,” you interrupted him again, the tension reaching its peak.
In a sudden, unexpected motion, his hand reached out to you. Fingers wrapped around your neck, just below your jawbone, and with a firm yet surprisingly gentle touch, he pulled your face towards his. The room fell into a momentary hush as the two of you locked eyes. Time seemed to stretch as the intensity of the confrontation shifted, taking an unexpected turn. Your stomach flipped as he pulled you towards him.
His lips met yours in a kiss that was both strong and desperate. The sudden intimacy caught you off guard, and you gasped – half in shock, half in relief. The room, once heavy with confrontation, now held an air of uncertainty as the lines between argument and intimacy blurred.
He broke the kiss, his fingers loosened their grip on you, but never quite released it.
“I don’t wanna argue anymore.” He admitted.
Your throat bobbed up and down against his hand as you swallowed, “me neither.”
He removed his hand from your neck and instead moved it to find your waist, gently pulling you into him for another kiss. His body was warm, even through his shirt, you could feel the heat coursing through him. You leaned into his kiss, his hands moving along your back, yours roaming his chest.
Your back arched against his hand, making him chuckle as he pulled away to breathe. Teasing you, he mumbled, “you want something, baby?”
“Mmh.” You moaned in answer, as his hands grazed over your ass. He loved this, watching your face contort as you anticipated what was coming, watching your body grow desperate for him. As his hands wandered back up to your waist, pulling you closer to him, you could feel each one of his movements sending shivers down your spine. The sensation of his body against yours was tantalising. Needing more, your hands found their way to his bare skin, finding his heartbeat under the fabric of his shirt.
“Excited?” You teased, feeling his heart racing.
He pulled your hand out of his shirt and down to his crotch, leaving your hand over the bulge that was pressing against his pants, “what do you think?”
You let out a small gasp, raising an eyebrow as you looked up at him, watching his face as you ran your hand over him. He reached under your dress, desperately trying to get his fingers in contact with you. Pressing his thumb against your clit, you moved closer to him.
“So wet for me, hm?” He remarked, dragging his thumb backwards until it dipped into your hole.
“Off, baby.” Jack mumbled against your neck, tugging on your underwear. You did as he told you to, you watched as he pulled his shirt off, followed by every other item of clothing that masked his body. He watched you undress, stroking his cock softly in one hand as your clothes fell into a heap at your feet.
He moved towards you, his hands gripping and squeezing your ass cheeks as his lips gently made contact with your nipple.
You let out a little moan as he sucked your nipples, his hands still squeezing your ass. He moved his hand between your legs and began to rub your clit with his thumb. You spread your legs further apart, giving him better access to you.
“Turn around,” he instructed you, guiding you with his hands on your waist. “That's a girl, now, on the bed for me baby,” he continued, following close behind you as you crawled onto his bed, on your knees.
He brought his face down to your ass, using his hands to pull your knees further apart. He began to lick your pussy, his tongue darting in and out of you and along your lips. You let out a relieved moan as he pushed his tongue deep inside you, fucking you with it.
The taste of you coated his tongue, then his throat, driving him wild. It took him every ounce of strength not to just tear you to shreds and fuck the daylight out of you.
More than ready, his cock bounced softly with the throbbing of his arousal. He lined his cock up with your pussy, and slowly slid himself into you. You felt yourself stretching around him, his hands gently massaging your hips and back, trying to help ease the inital pain of insertion.
Once he was fully inside you, he pulled out almost completely before pushing back in again. “You okay, sweetheart?” He asked. “Yes, Jack, fuck,” you replied, and he consequently picked up the pace.
As he steadied himself into a good rhythm, you began to utter small whines. “That's it, baby, let me hear you.” He encouraged.
His hands explored every inch of skin they could reach, before the pads of his fingers settled over your clit, and he began rubbing circles as he fucked you. Deeper every time, his balls slapped your clit with each thrust. Your body began to drift nearer and nearer to the bed, unable to hold yourself up with the same strength as you were moved closer to orgasm.
Jack, too, had shifted from heavy breathing to desperate moans, and you knew that was a sign he wasn't going to last for too much longer. Feeling your body move away from his, he leant his chest over your back, pushing you all the way down, flat onto your stomach. His hand, caught between your body and the mattress, was pressed hard against your clit, sending your head back against his shoulder. “You like that, huh?” Jack panted, still thrusting into you, his face burying in the crook of your neck. A layer of sweat began to form on his chest and your back, making his skin stick to yours.
You didn't reply, your moans only becoming more desperate and messy. The pleasure was building, and you couldn't take it anymore. You began to shake beneath him, it was almost too much, your moans sounding more like cries. Jack was so close, losing the rhythm he'd found, was just now trying to get himself in and out of you as quickly and as deeply as he could. “Come for me, darling, l got you, come for me now.” He panted, his voice rousing you.
With a sudden cry, your back arched up into his chest, your pussy clenching around his cock as you came, a string of pleasured moans filling the room, you felt his Adam's apple bob as he swallowed against your shoulder, “that's it, oh, big one, baby, keep coming,” he spoke as he found some strength, lifting his chest off of you as he buried one hard, deep thrust into you, letting all his cum spill out into you.
You buried your face into the pillow, trying to conceal the sounds of you riding out the end of your high, all while Jack finished himself off with a few more thrusts, groaning as he did so. When he was done, he slowly pulled his body out of yours, leaving you feeling momentarily empty.
You rolled over, facing him, your hands slowly moving up his chest to wrap around his neck. He was breathing heavily, sweat glistening on his skin as he looked down at you with a smile.
“You feeling okay?” He asked, still panting.
“Yeah,” you nodded, Jack chuckling as your body convulsed underneath him.
“What a beautiful sight, what a beautiful girl you are.” He smiled.
He laid beside you, wrapping his arm around you, pulling you into his side. You snuggled into his chest, feeling his heartbeat thumping against your ear.
Jack softly traced circles on your back as you lay in the warm afterglow. The room was filled with the calming sounds of your slowed breaths and the occasional noises from the bustle of the city outside. The weight of his arm around you provided a sense of security, and you reveled in the closeness.
“You’re perfect,” Jack whispered, his voice carrying a tender affection. His fingers continued their soothing pattern on your skin.
You tilted your head to look up at him, a smile playing on your lips. “You’re not so bad yourself.”
He chuckled, a low, comforting sound that resonated through both of you.
He chuckled, a low, comforting sound that resonated through both of you. “You know,” he began, “we can do this more often. Just us, no rush.”
You nodded in agreement. “I’d like that.”
Jack pressed a gentle kiss to your forehead, his lips lingering for a moment. As you lay together, you couldn’t even remember the reason why you were arguing in the first place.

Moments I loved in Newsies London
UKsies is a fansie's dream, every member of the cast is so in character even after the show ends and it leads to brilliant moments and interactions such as these:
*spoilers under the cut*
During 'Santa Fe (prologue)' there is fully a newsie undressing on the side of the stage, if you're sitting in the Bronx you'll get a lovely view
Zipline
Specs breaks up a fight between Race and Albert before 'Carrying the Banner' even starts
Crutchie has his own slingshot and shoots various members of the cast with varying degrees of accuracy
*steals apples from fruit cart, celebrates, gives one to a newsie sat alone*
Splasher jumps a skipping rope, he then proceeds to do a back flip in said skipping rope. You'll be hearing more about Splasher (Ross Dorrington) he is Something Else
Race actually smokes his cigar and blows the smoke in Morris' face
Splasher gets yeeted, cheerleader style
Oscar deliberately takes the paper from Davey's stack
Les makes sure to show his sad face to each side of the audience
Newsie fully asleep on the stairs on the side of the stage during 'The Bottom Line'
'Football? VIOLENT'
Davey tries to sell his last paper to the audience 'paper for you? Nope? Okay then :(
Les blows a bowery beauty a kiss and she gives him a feather, adorable
Couple of newsies watch Medda's show ('she's talking to me!' 'Nah, she's talking to me')
One of the newsies (?Race) nods his head along to all the knocks in 'Don't Come a-Knocking'
Bowery beauty kick line punctuated with 'woo!'s
Flirting 101 with Jack: 'the new york sun? I work for the world :D' *swings his legs and shows off his newsie bag proudly*
There is so much hugging in this show, this cast is so affectionate, its adorable
'AiNt wE tHe HoI PoLlOi'
'We got a ton of rotten fruit and perfect aim' *slingshots newspapers everywhere*
References to bway seize the day choreo in world will know
'Who wants Brooklyn?' (?race or tommy boy, couldn't see) *puts cap over face and plays dead*
Jack stays to talk to Katherine instead of going with the boys, Crutchie tries to get his attention - 'Jack come on! Oh for God's sake' and walks off. From where I was sat it sounded like ffs
The newsie wheeling Katherine's chair on stage for 'Watch What Happens' rides on it and goes 'woo!', she thanks them
side note: Matthew Duckett's Crutchie uses his crutch on the (technically) correct side, i.e. opposite side to injury, random but we love to see some medical accuracy in our shows lol
Crutchie initiates fighting the scabs and looks disappointed when he's stopped
Splasher doing no less than 10 box jumps in a row, possibly more
Splasher gets yeeted pt2
Les ascending
Crutchie using his crutch as a jousting pole
'They're slaughtering us!' *Splasher gets yeeted pt3*
Act 2
Cup clinkage
Driving the tables like cars around in kony - 'Zyoom!!!"
Ascension
Katherine's fork crown, apple orb and paper scepter
Crutchie breaking the forth wall and grinning conspiratorially at the audience in 'Letter from the Refuge'
Specs coming to get the letter from Crutchie and a refuge newsie helping him offstage
Jack putting les on his shoulders in 'Watch What Happens (reprise)'
Jack dusting himself off a seat in Pulitzer's office
The general reaction to Brooklyn
Jack hurriedly taking down his drawings when Katherine's there and hesitating before taking down a pic of (who I assume to be) Crutchie
'These kids put out a pretty good papeeerrrr' *runs away from pulitzer*
Roosevelt handshake fangirling
Spot intimidating Pulitzer
Crutchie wearing a police hat when he comes back in ('aint been the same without ya man!')
Crutchie holding his character and wincing to himself after getting his papers in the finale
'You already work for my father' - cue Crutchie breaking the 4th wall again to look directly at me and call Jack a numbnuts
Race greeting Wiesel with 'hey beautiful'
Spot to other newsies 'im not scary!' *hugs*
*standing ovation*

Actual goddamn things people said/did during my school’s production of Newsies
Stage crew writes “troll strike” instead of “trolley strike”
Ensemble: “Every small child is going to think you’re an evil old man.” Pulitzer: “Well maybe I am”
“See kid? Women have legs too!”
“Romeo we can see you dancing backstage”
The villains and Theodore Roosevelt dancing
Davey: “This day will go down in PISSTOR- I MEAN HISTORY”
“If I drop my cello, PLEASE kill me.”
*holding glass upside down* “TEN CENTS FOR A GLASS OF SELTZER??!”
Davey: *Points at painting of Santa Fe* “Is this Arizona?”
Davey and Spot Collin keep shaking hands and then pretending to kiss
PULITZER KEPT ALMOST FALLING OFF THE STAGE
*backstage* “Uhmmm…why is there a box of dog food here?”
Jack: “You got a name, Katherine?”
Katherine: “Just think, while my father is…slipping??…we’ll be…taking him down!!” (She was great I wish I got to know her better before she graduated)
Spot was Pulitzer’s backup so when Pulitzer was sick the final confrontation scene was…interesting.
“OH I get fishnets :)”
Katherine: “And if I was a boy, I’d be…looking at you through one swollen eye!!” (It’s supposed to be “you’d be looking at me”)
Nun: *running around backstage* “I’m a nun on the run”
“I just don’t think committing suicide would be very fun y’know?”
“YOU CAN’T JUST PUT FIRE ON THE FLOOR!”
*Ensemble Newsie falls over* Weasel: “…Guess I have to” *pretends to kick them*
Jack drops all of his coins everywhere all over the stage
Jack: “You bet! Me n’ the boys will take a Journal over to the hike!”
Jacoby: (to a Newsie) “Don’t swing that aroun-“ *Does exactly that and spills a glass of water* “Oops.”
Davey: “Inspirational Speech time guys”
Les: “Are you kiddin’? She got no legs on!”
Pulitzer: “An escaped thief and petty…thief.”
AT THE END OF THE SHOW THE SENIORS GAVE THE BAND TEACHER A PINEAPPLE???

A very bad Singin' in the Rain ripoff AU inspired by me trying to figure out what codenames production would use to refer to Jatherid post-show in the Bachelorette AU:
Miss Katherine Plumber, former Vaudeville performer, gave up the song-and-dance routine that she used to do with her childhood best friend Jack Kelly in favor of becoming a silent film star. She kind of stumbled into it, but now she and Oscar Delancey are the hottest commodity in the film world--people go wild for Plumber and Delancey films. It's unusual for the time, but Katherine does most of the talking for the two of them during public appearances. Why? Well, Oscar never learned how to talk without an overwhelming New Jersey accent, and he also has a fun tendency to be incredibly rude to...well, everyone.
Jack has stayed by her side through all this, though he ended up transitioning into set and costume design rather than trying to make it as an actor. The public would be scandalized by their friendship, except they don't know much about it, because the Vaudeville performances ended a while ago and Jack has mostly stayed behind the scenes and let his art speak for itself. He'd like to be famous one day, of course, but he'd also like to not have his every move scrutinized. And anyway, everyone assumes Katherine and Oscar are secretly dating, and Jack and Katherine are just friends, so he doesn't need to appear with her in public.
Katherine's life is turned upside down when she accidentally jumps into David Jacobs' car while trying to escape some sleazebag on the street. She and David argue the whole time she's in his car, but David eventually drops Katherine off at the party she's supposed to attend and they both think that'll be the end of it.
It's not.
It turns out David was hired to perform in an incredibly goofy dance number at the party that Katherine, Jack, and Oscar are at, and one thing leads to another and David throws a piece of cake at Jack that ends up hitting Oscar instead before he flees the party, and suddenly both Katherine and Jack are very intrigued by this man.
Katherine spends the next few weeks trying to find David to at the very least thank him for hitting Oscar in the face. Jack is left feeling a bit slighted; they've been a team for so long that he's not sure what to do with the fact that she's seriously interested in David the mysterious cake-thrower. But then Katherine finds David, and as he starts spending more time with her and Jack, Jack starts to realize a few things:
He's getting tired of staying semi-hidden for the sake of propriety, partially because he wants to do more as an artist, but also because...
He couldn't tell you when it started, but his feelings for Katherine drifted into not-quite-platonic at some point, and he doesn't know how to deal with that.
He's not just jealous of David for the fact that Katherine's interested in him--he's also jealous of Katherine, which might be the bigger problem.
This new "talkie" starring Katherine and Oscar is going to be an absolute disaster if someone doesn't do something about Oscar.
Shenanigans ensue, and they definitely all kiss in the rain after the "Good Morning" scene

Newsies UK Review (Dec. 3rd)
Brace yourselves because this will be long and rambling and will contain spoilers. I certainly haven’t covered everything or everyone, but I’ve covered a few of the things that particularly stood out to me and the people I felt particularly deserved a mention.
Just the whole set up. Shirtless Newsies getting ready for the day before carrying the banner started was a bonus, not least because it reminded me of carrying the banner starts in the film when they’re all in the lodging house getting ready. They were down on the stage rather than up in the scaffolding like on Broadway so I feel like you got a bit more of a scene setter and build up to it. And then one of them full on ziplines onto the stage, it was fabulous!! My friend who was with me described it as ‘a magic Mike entrance’ and whispered to me, ‘when are they gonna start stripping. Just the staging in generally was amazing. Having scaffolding all around so newsies could scale it at different points in the theatre as well as having the walkways between the seating was brilliant, because it meant all the chase scenes with Snyder could go through the audience and go up and down different levels, so like, Jack could run up a bit and escape then because they’d gone a different route, it was very clever. And during the World will know it meant that we had newsies marching on the spot right in front of us, sometimes turning to face us and I was grinning like a maniac, it was amazing!! There were 3 standing ovations. Three! I was expecting the one at the end, but the other two weren’t even at the end of the first act or something, they were both in sieze the day! One at the end and one at that moment when you think it’s about to end but they still have an extra bit to go. And it was one hundred percent deserved, the choreography was absolutely incredible. One of the guys did like a gazillion box jumps in a row, it was insane. Looking back at the cast list I think that was Ross Dorrington as Splasher but if anyone else who’s seen it could confirm or deny that would be great, as it is obviously hard to tell from a distance in the theatre. At first I thought this was gonna be instead of the ‘Ryan Steele spins’, but then we got those later on as well! There were even some break dancing style moves, it was ridiculously brilliant. I will say that I am a Javey shipper that has never truly understood Jatherine (which, disclaimer, may be partly because I’m a 92sies whore so I was a bit sore about the plot changes that introduced Katherine in the Broadway version, although I learnt to love her as I got used to the idea), but my god I changed my tune when I saw this performance. I don’t know what it was but there was just something different about Michael Ahomka-Lindsay and Bronté Barbé as Jack and Katherine. Part of me thinks it was just the way they kissed in something to believe in, y’know with his hands moving up her back and stuff, it was just *chefs kiss. But there was just something in their interactions as well, she was so snarky it was wonderful and you could just see it drawing him in. And like, when he strikes out at the beginning when he first sees her and she shuts him down I think you could see more of, her joy in doing that I suppose, and her amusement at him pursuing her that I feel was lacking slightly in the Broadway one. Like, you can tell more that her annoyance is kind of as much of an act as Jack’s postering is and I appreciate that because I feel you see the romance growing more rather than just being a sudden thing that happens. As much as I love Jeremy Jordan and Kara Lindsay I just felt it properly for the first time with these two. And he gives her a newsboy cap at the end which was super cute. Each of them individually were just astounding in their roles and really managed to bring a different flavour to both Jack and Katherine which was really lovely to see. Matthew Duckett as Crutchie is a fricking revelation. It was Marty Belafski who had my heart as Crutchie - he was the first iteration I saw and it was him that made me fall in love with the character. With Broadway, I already knew Andrew Keenan-Bolger, and loved him as Crutchie as well. Now it’s probably Matthew Duckett who just is Crutchie for me. I loved that he was taller than Jack for one thing, like in the original film, and that he was just generally like, a little grittier than Broadway Crutchie? He had a bit more of the Crutchie from the film who says, ‘I don’t want anybody carrying me. Never’, and who nicks food of Snyders plate to give to Jack. A little less relentless optimist and a little more world hardened, which I really enjoyed. And it doesn’t hurt that he had lovely shoulders which I had a great view of, as I was sitting in the second row from where they had a break in the seating that the cast used to run through the audience as such. Very annoyed that I just missed out on getting a pape from Crutchie himself. He waved one at us asking if anyone wanted a pape, and all of us just sat there in shocked, happy excitement, without realising that this was actually on offer to interact with the cast and not just like, part of the show. He threw it behind him into the audience members in front of us to our consternation and was then like, ‘yeah, now you want a pape’, and someone in front of me did then get one. It was amazing, and I can now say to everyone going, and if I go again, say yes to the pape! They actually mean to give them to you! I didn’t actually believe they would make Spot Conlon a girl but I stand corrected! Not only Spot but the whole of Brooklyn. In my humble opinion, not quite the same as Spot being a tiny but menacing little guy, but still very cool and great fun. And I loved that the girlsies were like, actually girlsies. Like, some of them had skirts and stuff, they were meant to be girls, not just, women filling in the men’s roles, which I absolutely loved! I think I would probably have preferred it if all the boroughs were just mixed to be honest, partly because it meant a lyric change to ‘we’re the girls from the beaches of Brighton’ rather than ‘we’re the boys from the beaches of Brighton, so we don’t get the alliteration which slightly irritated my brain although obviously it would have been weirder if they’d all sung that when they’re meant to be girls, but also because I just feel like it would have made for a more accurate representation, although if they’d done that I think I would have wanted them to keep Spot as a girl. Ultimately though, I did understand why they did it like they did, as it really packed a punch, and it made sense why Spot wasn’t in the cast list as they obviously wanted to keep this as a surprise twist. It honestly was a great moment. King of New York!! It was phenomenal!! They swung from ceiling lights!!! Honestly it felt like a little homage to 92s when Damien lucero spins on the ceiling fan, as there was a moment when some of them did spins from them, as well as them swinging about like Tarzan on them. Honestly, I did feel like the choreography from this as well as sieze the day was better than Broadway. There were just so many surprises. Although Katherine did tap a bit she didn’t seem to have as much of a ‘moment’ as Kara Lindsay got, when the newsies are encouraging her to dance, so that was a shame, but they did dress her up like the Statue of Liberty which was wild and amazing. The newsies bringing on all the props! It was so good. Hilariously Katherine thanked them when they put together her desk for watch what happens, but my favourite was when they did Pulitzers office because they were all just lounging around for a bit before Pulitzer and everyone came on. I’m pretty sure on of them was was sitting in his chair at one point before scurrying off. It was great. Cameron Blakely was wonderful as Pulitzer. A great voice, and I just loved his portrayal of the character. Some funny moments because it’s Cameron Blakely but still managing to be very sinister when it counted. The line that really stood out to me from him was when he grabs Katherine’s arm in the Bottom Line Reprise singing ‘too bad you’ve no family, but you can’t have mine’. Oof. Davey was glorious. He was just so soft somehow, which was very endearing, although I was slightly disappointed that he didn’t seem to loose any of his clothes on the way as is the Davey tradition in both the film and on Broadway. Having said that, he seemed less buttoned-up, in terms of his costume, to begin with than either of the previous David’s. His exasperation at Les, like when he’s staring at the Bowery beauties or when he announces that he has a girlfriend, was continuously on point. And his beginning of sieze the day was absolutely beautiful. I’m still annoyed that Davey has no solo song though. Medda was fabulous of course! I felt there could have been a bit more of ‘wink wink nudge nudging’ over the nature of her relationship with Teddy Roosevelt, but essentially she truly understood the assignment. And her Bowery Beauties costume she wore for That’s Rich was gorgeous. Being previews there were a few sound issues which was a shame, and they’d run out of programmes by the time I arrived (how a theatre runs out of programmes I’ll never know, but hopefully those issues will be sorted out by opening night. Overall, an insanely brilliant night out - glorious show, stellar dancing and singing, still so thrilled that Newsies came to the UK and that I had a chance to see it, 10 years on from the Broadway production I truly never thought it would happen and I’m so glad that it did.

Tonight me and my gf went to see a High School production of Newsies and there were so many details that I adored while watching that I felt the need to share~
Romeo had bright yellow suspenders and a hat and it was such an iconic look.
Jack would rip off his hat a lot and run his hands through his hair when frustrated/excited and his hair would spike up a lot.
One of the newsies did a cartwheel and stumbled at the end and specs caught and helped them back up.
Crutchie had a little red bandanna around his neck!
Davey’s actor doing a BEAUTIFUL “poor guys head is spinning” Ik Ben would of been proud.
A group of background newsies doing limbo under broomsticks during King of New York.
During Watch What Happens Katherine had a usable type writer and would click the buttons to the tempo of her song and it WAS SO CREATIVE.
During Something to Believe In Jack and Kathrine were on little lofts that the other Newsies spun and moved around the stage while they sang.
Jack spinning Katherine around during Something to Believe In and dancing with her.
The Delancey brothers wiping their tears away with handkerchiefs when Jack told Katherine he’d stay in New York.
The school hired a dialect coach so everyone had the accents.
Instead of having door props they just had two guys physically holding boards painted like doors and moved to ‘open them’ and honestly it was a vibe I loved it.
Davey taking deep breaths and collecting himself before addressing the Newsies during the rally.
Davey also fully stopping in his tracks, finger up, mouth open and everything in shock and saying “…what.” when Les says he has a date.
The Newsies running through the seat isles during the union fight as cops chased them out of the room.
Jack running up to Crutchie when he was out of the Refuge and hugging him.
When Jack betrays the Newsies and runs with the money, the lights dim and while the other newsies run off shouting Davey is trailing behind them and throws his hat on the ground in defeat.
Jack did a sketch of Katherine from the page of an old book instead of a Newspaper.
Jack and Katherine also only shared one kiss, the other times they’d run into each other’s arms and hug tightly and it was so freaking cute.
They had Newsies in pants/shirts and skirts/dresses! They got so creative with the costumes!
Pulitzer swinging a pocket watch around while singing “times running out boy, so what do you say..?”
I know there’s more but this is all I could remember right off hand, it was such a wonderful time and I hope the people part of the production know just how amazing it was! You could tell lots of love and effort was put into it ❤️🗞

Pulitzer, to start with
you know, I feel like this was one of those moments where you side-eyed me and was like, “really, emme? really? you’ve got nothing? nothing at all?” until I admitted that I did, in fact, have headcanons for him. honestly, if that passive-aggressive-ness ain’t friendship, I don’t know what is. #friendshipislowkeybullyingandimhereforit #loveyousparkedblaze
so joseph pulitzer was obviously a real person. he was originally from hungary, and moved to the united states at age 17 as a recruit for the american civil war (“I was fighting in a WAR”). his family was wealthy, and his education consisted of mostly private tutors. when he immigrated, eventually ending up in st. louis, he brought none of that wealth, and didn’t speak even the smallest bit of english. he worked odd jobs, waited tables, and in his free time, studied. legend has it that while he was studying, he began making commentary about a nearby game of chess under his breath in german. unfortunately, the players spoke german. more fortunately, they took note of his intelligence, and offered him a job at a somewhat-prominent german daily newspaper. he accepted.
four years later, joseph pulitzer had become a force to be reckoned with. he had successfully made a name for himself in the journalistic world, and bought his first newspaper in st. louis at 25. five years after that, he ventured to new york in search of a doctor for his health later than year, and ended up negotiating a deal for the new york world, which wasn’t doing well at the time. he was thirty. over the next decade, the world’s circulation grew to exceedingly great heights until it was the largest circulating paper in all of the united states.
of course, these are just the highlights of his journalist career. I won’t go into detail about his political one.
(…yeah. this man wasn’t someone you messed with. I have no idea why the newsies thought taking on him was a good idea, let alone how they won.)
and now for the fun stufffffffffff
he was the father of seven, yet katherine is the only kid mentioned in newsies??? and only the stage production??? my best guess about this is because she died at two, and so there’s not really much you could “get wrong” or offend people with (also, it reminds me of the using of philip and theodosia in hamilton, but that’s entirely besides the point). either way, what I’m saying the purpose of this was, regardless of the truth, is that THIS katherine also got sick young, but instead of passing away, she slowly got better through a very touch-and-go childhood. therefore, he’s ridiculously protective of her because that’s his daughter, dammit, and he’s not going to lose her now.
something that I always noticed in livesies was how…american he was??? like, he brought up american football. I don’t know what’s more american than that.
he just reminded me of every midwestern dad I’ve ever met, and I think that was somewhat intentional, so I’m rolling with it. I’m guessing the real joseph pulitzer was like this, too, so we can pretend it’s based in historical evidence.
he goes out of his way to not act like an immigrant. this is pretty common, considering stereotypes, prejudice, and racism, but pulitzer was jewish, and very obviously so. this made his life that much more difficult, and it probably would have been easier to pretend that english was his first language and that he was as patriotic as they come. so he didn’t flaunt that he was an immigrant as well as a veteran, politician, and businessman.
he would have never let his daughter become a journalist. or associate with someone like jack at all. just saying.
I love how cutthroat they made him in the musical. realistically, he didn’t fight the newsies THAT much, but it’s really funny to me that this great business mogul was waging petty wars against literal children.
he feels like he could be a surburban dad, flipping burgers and wearing a kiss the cook apron while his seven children run around in the backyard with a dog. I have no idea why. (someone draw that fanart for me PLEASE)
also, he named katherine after his wife, kate.

I recently went to my local theater and watched the newsies off-broadway and here are things I loved.
STOP CUZ -ALMOST ALL OF THE SONGS SOUNDED WAY BETTER THAN THE BROADWAY VERSION -CRUTCHY HAD A LISP AND IT WASNT HIS ACTOR, HE DID THE LISP ON PURPOSE BUT DIDNT HAVE A REAL ONE??? BUT IT ADDED SO MUCH TO HIS CHARACTER!?!?!? -JACK SOUNDED EXACTLY LIKE JEREMY JORDAN. -IDENTICAL -LONG HAIRED SPOT SUPREMACY?!?!? -HE HAD LONG HAIR AND WAS STILL OUR SHORT KING BUT I LOVED HIM!?!?!? HIS HAIR!?!?!? HE TOOK OFF HIS HAT AND BAM IT WAS JUST HAIR!! PERFECTION IDK WHAT TO TELL YOU -The tap in king of new york??? Perfection. THEY WERE ALL SYNCHRONIZED AND THE SOUND FILLED UP THE THEATER -THE BOWERY BEAUTIES WERE PoC -SWEET JESUS MY BROTHER IN CHRIST MEDDA WAS STUNNING
-They went by the original movie and called her Medda Larkson instead of Larkin -ANGELIC VOICE AND SHE WAS GORGEOUS!?!?!? -MEDDA PERFORMED WITH BOWERY BEAUTIES -GIRL NEWSIES- THATS IT. FEMALE NEWSIES -IK I KINDA ALREADY SAID THIS BUT WHEN THE ENSEMBLE NEWSIES HARMONIZED?!!?!? *CHEFS KISS* -YK THAT PART IN THE BROADWAY VERSION WHEN KATHERINE AND JACK ARE SINGING SOMETHING TO BELIEVE IN AND WE THINK THEYRE GONNA KISS BUT THEY HUG? IN THIS VERSION THEY KISSED -JEREMY JORDAN GETS MADE FUN OF BECAUSE HE WOULD HARDLY DANCE DURING THE NUMBERS BUT THIS JACK DANCED AND HE WAS GOOD AT IT TOO -THE GUY WHO PLAYED SPOT LOOKED AT ME WHEN I YELLED HIS NAME AND HE WAVED AT ME (This was towards the end when they were goofing off and leaving the stage, don't come at me) -no cuz I've never cried when watching newsies but something abt watching it in person made me tear up so much bc it's like the emotion radiated off the walls

Actually got to watch UKsies finally! Putting my thoughts/things I like under the cut + a final thoughts (live blogging)
I like the little added stuff at the start. It's a cute touch.
Jack and Crutchie actually looking at a physical picture during Santa Fe (Prologue) was a cute touch. They have such good chemistry.
Crutchie showing fear when getting his papers from the Delanceys because it was right after they pushed him down was a nice touch. It makes sense! We love continuity!
I love the parts where they're running in the crowd because they run in front of the camera and you can hear each individual member as they pass it. It's just kinda funny.
I'm liking the chemistry with Jack and Katherine a lot more in this one. His flirting being more playful (my friend described it as "boyish") definitely helps their chemistry. She seems to be more amused than creeped out, and it just helps it feel more authentic.
Ryan's Davey is so lovely! I think his version has definitely become my favorite by FAR. The way he holds onto Les is just so cute.
One of the scabs actually looking ashamed of himself while Jack's talking :(
Crutchie spinning around on Mike(?)'s back during Seize the Day is something so personal to me
Crutchie is actually sobbing and I'm crying with him
The picture makes a comeback in Santa Fe aww
THE BELT!!! We love to see it
Elmer actually lunging at the "there's a headline even Elmer could sell" pls that's so funny
Spotlight changes for each person at the start of King of New York that's so clever!! I love lighting design!!
Les dance solo
Katherine dance :)
They're driving the tables that's so cute
The spinning on the lights!! Does someone know if this was an intentional nod to the fan part in the 1992 King of New York? Was that ever confirmed or anything? It just reminds me of it, and it feels like it's too much of a coincidence to be unintentional.
The spoon crown is adorable!!
Letter from the Refuge 😭
Left handed Crutchie!
Oh his voice is so good
The way Medda lifted Jack's chin up 😭
His "we are inevitable" I love him
Davey rolling his eyes at Jack lmao
His "poor guys head is spinning" is so good!!
Davey and Jack's eye contact at the end of Watch What Happens (Reprise) was a bit too long iykwim
I think it's interesting that Katherine chose to hide instead of Pulitzer hiding her.
Jack's laugh
Oh she hid so she could run out to explain herself this hurts even more
I wish I could've seen Jack's face for the Katherine reveal
Katherine pushing Pulitzer's hand off of her arm lmao
The Delancey's cackles are sinister
BROOKLYN :D
Girl Spot my beloved
I love the idea of one of the Brooklyn girls having a broken arm (I'm assuming)
Not him pushing Davey off of him :(
Spot throwing him down and threatening to punch him!! Yes!!
NOT HIM KNOCKING LES OVER
I love when Jack actors go to lean back in for another kiss/Katherine backs away after the first one! It makes more sense in why he questions her intentions later because she pulls away from him! Of course it makes him confused! It's such a good choice!
Her getting emotional and having to take a breath with the "so I could keep looking at you" line!! I. LOVE. THEM.
Her lookback at "angel"
THEIR CHEMISTRY!! Best Jathrine hands down
The lanterns are a nice touch! I love this!
The Once and For All lyric change! I love it so much!
The choreography!! The lanterns!
THE BIG BANNER AND SILHOUETTE!
Jack looks so proud of Davey for telling Pulitzer off lmao
Him gushing with Davey about Roosevelt
The drumming stopping at "think of the happiness you'll bring those children" it makes it so dramatic
*looks at Jack* *looks at Pulitzer* *looks at Jack* "You can do this" pls
JACK FALLING PRETENDING THEY LOST THEN TELLING THEM THEY WON! WHEN JACK HUGGED DAVEY!! THEY WERE SO HAPPY!!
Crutchie wearing a police hat 😭
I melt every time I see Jack hug Crutchie he cares about him so much
Jack and Katherine: *Having a moment* Davey and Crutchie: *fully in the foreground*
Jack giving Katherine a newsboy cap I'm going to cry they're so cute
***
Final Thoughts
I think this one definitely topped Toursies as my favorite. Everyone had such good chemistry! Jack and Katherine's relationship felt much more authentic!
Davey's arc felt more authentic as well. I love everyone who has played him before, but Ryan definitely understood the assignment with this one. Davey is supposed to be very reserved until he realizes that there's a fighting chance, and that's exactly how he played him!
The original choreography (original compared to the bway/tour/recording choreo that's mostly the same if not identical) was so clever and well done! The little moments they added were also really nice touches!
They blew it out of the water with this performance, and I'm so happy that I finally got a chance to watch it!
I think this production officially holds the title for my favorite versions of the characters and the show! This is definitely one I will be watching again!
If you read this far I'm so sorry

saw your bored post, gimme your best hcs abt racetrack and spot, and also jededaius (christ idk how to spell his name i did a wholeass paper on the man) and octavious :3
SPRACE AND JEDTAVIUS YIPPEE
okok i have so much rly random and specific stuff for them sprace especially
ok for sprace i’m gonna do some individually and then collectively
RACEEETRAAACKKK
-race is definitely the little love coach/gossip girl in the lodging house, he definitely picks up on every little hint of feelings between the boys (and bothers spot and jack with it). -for some odd reason i just. feel like race had a crush on davey at some point or at least found him attractive but he slowly turned into javid’s biggest supporter LMAO -he trusts albert with his life (bad idea). probably had to go through the “uh can i tell you about something” shit with him before he started dating spot. it rly stressed him out for a while but he’s good now albert’s fine race’s fine. -he and katherine were probably the first people davey told about liking jack, and he was so fucking exited about it on like an unhealthy level. davey asked him if he could keep a secret, let’s just say he didn’t. -actually like never smokes, just has the cigar bc it makes him look badass and allows him to do fancy flourishes with it at the end of every sentence. -that being said, he gives major theater kid vibes. -jack was his first friend, and crutchie kinda just joined the group later on. he’s the second youngest of the trio, and they consider eachother brothers.
spit concord
-gets no bitches. likes to think he does but doesn’t. race loves him for that honestly. -hotshot became a newsie before he did even though he’s slightly younger. he probably found spot in a trashcan somewhere and dragged him back against his will -they’re besties i’m here for it -huge dog person. i could see him stealing food and then giving it to some street dogs instead of feeding himself 😭 -can not down any amounts of alcohol ever without getting insanely drunk. one shot and he would pass out bro -hotshot was the first person he told about dating race, and he was NOT happy about that 🙅‍♀️🙅‍♀️🙅‍♀️ -not because he’s homophobic just because he didn’t want to lose spot :(
SPRACE MY BELOVEDS
-race met spot at the races in brooklyn and nearly got beat up for being in his territory, but it was still love at first sight for both of them -so naturally, race came back the next day to say hi. they had like a normal conversation that time and settled on a compromise for race to be able to sell at the races but nowhere else. -they became pretty good friends and were still gay pining over eachother but theyre both dumbasses and didn't realize -race told jack about liking him, and jack nearly went all the way to brooklyn just to tell spot to keep his grubby paws off his brother -eventually they started dating, probably during or right after the strike -race still isn’t allowed to sell anywhere in brooklyn 💀 -race got caught in a storm once and spot forced him to stay in brooklyn for the night because he didn’t want him to get sick or cold (not that he would ever admit that ofc) race didn’t want to make jack worry, but he took it as an excuse to cuddle with spot so he did it anyways -race calls spot short all the time. like all the time. to the point where it’s annoying to everybody not just spot -cheek kisses, neck kisses, occasionally hand kisses but they’ve probably only kissed on the lips like once (they’re too panicky and nervous to do it again) -hotshot and jack are prolly like decent friends actually, just because they can bond over worrying for their gay little younger brothers
wow i love jededaius and octavious from the hit movie trilogy nihgt at tge musiem
i have like a lott LOTT less for them but let’s begin
-were never truly enemies, closer to rivals. they just felt like it was their duty to fight eachother and gave them something to do all night -octavius is a huge hopeless romantic, wrote a whole bunch of love poems about jedediah even before the feeling was mutual. jedediah eventually found them, good thing he can’t read, much less in latin 😀👍 -guYS PLEASE CAN YOU STOP MAKING THE WESTERNERS HOMOPHOBIC LET THEM BE HAPPY PLEASE (clearly they’re aware they’re museum exhibits so they’re definitely caught up on modern standards) -jed is asexual. yep -octavius literally cannot ride a horse idc if he’s a roman centurion he’s unable. that’s why they use the rc car instead of jed’s horse -they have movie night with the other exhibits once a week, and they always cuddle together away from the others :) -jedediah is really cocky and arrogant most the time, but is really sweet and gentle with octavius. probably brags about him
ok that’s it 😭 ik it’s not a lot but
TY FOR THIS ASK!

So 10 years ago, I joined the newsies fandom. I don't even remember how I ended up here, but I'm oh so happy that I did. In that fandom, I found myself in a subset of folks who loved Jack and Katherine just as much as I did. @writetheniteaway and @hoshigomi were two really good friends of mine who I'm happy to still keep in contact with to varying degrees to this day. We had a ship full of love, but no ship name that we really liked. (I don't know why we didn't jive with Jatherine, it's been 10 years, things and opinions fade). So these two were far too late working on school work and at some point Katherine Plumber was called a fluffy lamb and a fic of 'lamb cuddles' was requested.
Next day comes around (April 6, 2013) and there is a semi-joking post asking us to all tag our Jack/Katherine fic as lambcuddles. And then we did. And then more people did. And more. And more until even the National Touring Cast called Jack/Katherine 'lambcuddles' (that was a hell of a day, let me tell you).
I love the lamb fam with all my heart and invite all of the Jatherine folks who caught on board with the west endsies/uksies to share in the love with us and the tag.
Happy Anniversary Lambcuddles. To celebrate, here's a small drabble of our favorite cocky-son-of-a- newsboy sneaking into see Katherine well past working hours.
Enjoy!
---
Tap tap
Katherine’s eyes darted from where she was brushing her unruly curls out for the evening towards the dimly lit window. This was the third time she had heard that damned tapping. At first she had figured it was a bird or bug knocking against her window, lost in the muggy summer night; but there it was again.
Tap tap
That’s when she saw two pebbles hit the pane of her window. Who could want her attention this time of night? Carefully, she opened the window looking to see who was below.
“Well hiya there, sweetheart. Didn’t thinks youse was ever gonna open your window.”
Two stories below, there was Jack Kelly with a cocky grin on his face, eyes beaming up at her.
“Jack Kelly, what are you doing here? “ she called down, trying her best not to shout and blow their cover. “Are you trying to get us caught?!”
It had only been two weeks since the strike had been settled, but Katherine’s father had made it painfully aware of how much he disdained her choice in romantic partner. Their meetings had been limited to daytime walks and stolen kisses in alleyways, far from her father’s prying eyes. It wasn’t easy, but they were managing.
“I missed ya,” he said impishly, running a hand through his hair. “I ain’t seen ya in days.”
“It’s hardly been 36 hours,” she scoffed, unable to resist her own smile. “I got caught up with work today, I’m sorry.”
“They gives ya anything good?”
“A piece at the Navy Yard Pier. Not too much to it yet, but it’s better than engagement news at least.” Katherine shrugged her shoulders, turning to give a quick look at her bedroom door. She didn’t hear anyone coming. Carefully, she crawled through her window and out onto the fire escape. “Gave your love to Spot Conlon.”
“Glad someone’s getting my love,” he teased, looking up at her far above. “Just wishin’ it was you instead, Ace.”
“Jack,” she laughed, “it’s late. I’ll give you plenty in the morning, I'm sure.”
Jack wandered over to the base of the fire escape, careful to hide from the windows and any possible on-lookers. “Is that a promise, Plumber?” he asked, tilting his head back with a cheeky grin.
He really was the most impossible boy.
“For sure.”

(More) Things I Noticed in UKsies: Fansie Night Edition (Act 2)
First one got too long so here is act 2!!
At Jacobi's Albert says 'why do old people talk?' Directly to Jacobi who waves him off
'Jack don't run from no fight!' '*in the highest, squeakiest voice imaginable to mock Les* Take it down short stop!!'
Katherine dances on the tables with the boys in KoNY and I'm not sure if Bronté does but Bobbie does the nerve tap!
Cup song time
Katherine and Les have such cute little interactions
Nyoom tables!!
They don't shy away from showing what they do to keep themselves safe, when the newsies grab the lamps, you can see them clip themselves on but it only serves to make you go 'something is about to go down!!'
The newsies on the ground dance around the tables and tap metal plates to the table newsies' feet
Ascension with frantic spinning, incredible
In a bit of a stark contrast, letter from the refuge is a really poignant moment
Crutchie breaks the forth wall and speaks directly to the audience, including them in his thought process
A cop watches the whole thing from the scaffolding
Crutchie is left handed
Crutchie actually starts crying at 'I'll be fine' and hearing that emotion in his voice contrasted with his trying to be optimistic - ugh, have I mentioned that I love Matthew Duckett?
Crutchie gets up and passes on his letter to Specs before being slowly helped off stage by a refuge newsie, still struggling when the next scene begins. When he got up he winced so hard someone next to me whispered 'ooh that was real'
Jack was Properly Angry in Watch What Happens reprise and his fear for Crutchie shone through
Ryan!Davey may be the king of eye-rolls but Alex!Davey is the king of raising his eyebrows in incredulation, especially to Les
'Lighten up no-one died' is said a lot subtler, like he knows how bad that sounds but doesn't know how to confront it
'HECANTTAWLKHELLCALLYABACK'
The mayor actually shows some sympathy towards the newsies but in the end doesn't act due to Synder and Pulitzer's influence
Fun fact: Jamie Golding (Wiesel/mayor/theatre worker/police/etc) has NINE costume changes during the show, he is so many people
Pulitzer grabs Katherine as she's trying to walk away at 'you can't have mine'
George Crawford (Morris Delancey) has an amazing evil laugh which he uses a lot during the show
As the printing press is being brought out, the Delancey brothers bring Jack behind the scaffolding. Although this can't be seen by most of the audience they continue to intimidate him and get really up in his space
Shout out to Zack Guest super swing who played Oscar!!
Brooklyn newsies met with the Most applause they are so cool
Brooklyn's here is broken up with a little roll call which makes the 'now them soakers' hit harder
Spot has a slight lisp
'If we disband the union..' *outrage* 'this is your union!!'
The newsies all call Jack out in various ways when they see him take the money, Spot has to be physically held back from beating him up
Something to Believe in is a little different, the Jatherine is believable but isn't really focused on much in the show, it almost feels like an afterthought. The line 'what was ours still will be' really resonates, it feels more like they had a little whirlwind mutual attraction but both think it'll end with the strike
Universal 'oooohh!!' From the audience when they kiss
Lighting for once and for all is so pretty, they have lanterns and there's a sort of orange mottled pattern like the reflection of the lamps projected across the entire theatre
Once and For All really lets the vocals shine, it isn't as high energy as the other numbers and the scaffolding doesn't move like it does in livesies, instead a giant newsies banner falls from the ceiling that they parade around the stage. The choreo isn't missed at all, the sheer wall of sound is incredible
The newsies line the theatre as Jack talks to Pulitzer and smack their fists either into their hands of onto the railings in time with the music as they hum
'The boy, Jack Kelly is here :)))'
Spot makes the 'I'm watching you' gesture at Pulitzer
As the other characters leave Jack to talk to Pulitzer, Hannah loudly says 'I love your show!!' To Medda
So many hugs when they win
Crutchie coming in with his little police hat, greeted with the biggest hug from Race and the boys
The reaction to Crutchie calling Roosevelt 'your highness'
Crutchie & Les reunion 🥺
And perfect finale and curtain call!!
The post finale choreo is incredible and was met with applause right up to the final bows
Crutchie is up on the scaffolding for much of the choreo and makes his way down for the bows. He slid down the stair rails in the same way you would slide down a ladder. Then he kept sliding. And kept sliding. And then his leg got caught. And then he kept sliding. Basically, he ended up on the floor tangled in the stairs and had to call a couple of people to help him out of the mess he got into 😅
And that was that! Post-show Q&A was pretty short but really lovely, there were mostly questions about the audition process, advice, favourite bit of the show, etc but it was really sweet how they all cared to stay and so many people did! Plus there were mega shout outs to dance captain Alex Christian who plays Butttons and is a legend!!
Honestly this show means so much to me and to be able to see it with such an enthusiastic cast and audience was incredible, see it if you can because it is in a league of its own.

Besties I got to see Newsies in a local production recently so here's a fun list of things from the show:
Most of the newsies were played by super talented highschoolers
Les was played by an absolutely adorable little girl who definitely stole the show
Jack, Davey, and Les all watched Medda's show together from the catwalk part of the set
During Seize the Day when they're convincing the scabs to join them Jack and Davey stood back to back with Jack facing the scabs trying to convince them and Davey facing the newsies trying to convince them
Jack and Katherine hugged in Something to Believe in and in the end instead of kissing
Jack absolutely nailed the ending of Santa Fe, I was worried because he opted out of a lot of the higher parts but mans slayed
Davey voice crack on poor guys head is spinning rip
Pulitzer was much taller than all of the other actors he absolutely towered over them
Instead of the shoe crushing the kids drawing in Watch What Happens Reprise it was a hand
The actress for Katherine absolutely slayed during Watch What Happens she sang her heart out while maintaining a very professional persona

basketball davey.
based on an ask i received this morning!
davey originally started playing basketball because people told him he should. just because he’s tall. he kind of hated getting the questions, so in freshman year, he signs up for the team.
he knew he’d hate it. he resented it, actually, because he felt like he was just letting people decide what he should be doing. yknow? other people said “hey, you should do this” and he caved and now he’s doing it and he hates himself for actually doing it.
but something changes after just a week of practice because, wait, hold on, he actually likes it.
he’s never been the most sporty guy. it’s not that he isn’t good, he just… doesn’t know what to do?
but Davey, as analytical as ever, realizes that this isn’t just about natural talent. it’s strategy, it’s probability, it’s a lot of things that he’s good at.
he understands the mechanics behind the game. he understands what makes the gears turn. what plays to go through with. how to end up with the best outcome.
he’s the most strategically-minded on the team, and other boys take notice as davey takes charge. even though he’s not the best athletically (yet) he knows what he’s doing, and they know it.
it doesn’t surprise anyone that he’s climbed the ranks over the years, and it doesn’t surprise anyone that he’s voted captain during senior year.
unlike some of his teammates, though, he isn’t a “jock”- he has a lot of other interests outside of basketball.
he likes school, he’s in all AP classes, he does concurrent classes through the local community College during junior and senior year
basketball is just kind of ,, his release?
and it’s nice, because a lot of his friends- Race, Albert, Finch, Specs, and a lot more- are all on the team.
and it’s nice, because during every game, Davey gets to see Jack in the stands.
jack is, naturally, the kind of kid who is told to “shut up” and “stop yelling or you’ll be kicked out of the gym” and “young man if you don’t stop screaming you’re going to get a detention” but he’s just passionate
jack, spot, katherine and sarah always go to games together, and sit in the front row in the bleachers. that’s their Thing.
sure, maybe jack goes to stare at his boyfriend instead of, yknow, actually wanting to support the school, but it’s fine, it’s whatever, it doesn’t matter
what DOES matter is that, after davey scores the winning shot at the state tournament, jack races onto the court with the other fans and kisses davey right there in the middle of the arena, with hundreds of people screaming and cheering around them.
what DOES matter is that, when davey goes to his signing and is officially getting an athletic scholarship to play at Columbia University, jack is right there watching with esther, mayer, sarah, and les.
what DOES matter is that jack goes to every college game, every event, and even some practices; and, in turn, davey comes to every art show, every play or musical that jack’s designed the props for, and even goes with him on trips to museums throughout the state.
they just really love each other (and also jack constantly makes jokes about being a future “basketball wife”)
“davey i’m not saying that you need to have your career goals set on playing in the NBA but i AM saying that i wouldn’t mind if you bought me a big house and a nice jeep”
“i love the fact that you only love me for my maybe-future-money”
“and i love the fact that you’ll be supporting your broke artist boyfriend for the rest of your life <3”
obviously that’s a joke bc jack isn’t Like That but they just,, they really do love each other
so so much
ONCE AGAIN I MADE THIS WAY LONGER THAN IT NEEDED TO BE BUT,, SPORTY DAVEY SPORTY DAVEY SPORTY DAVEY
