What if... reader, a new member of the Stellaron Hunters, gets lost during a mission and unexpectedly encounters Jingliu, who is calmly relaxing under the moon. Sensing reader's inexperience, Jingliu decided to teach her swordsmanship. After a few days, Kafka arrived to search for reader and bring her back, only to witness reader and Jingliu being a little intimate. Of course, Kafka didn't like that; reader had always asked her for guidance all this time, after all. Seeing reader smile when Jingliu patted her head made Kafka's blood boil, so she quickly tried to snatch reader away, but Jingliu held reader tightly.
They ended up sharing reader in bed though then they lived happily ever after. :)
(idk i just want my favorite mommies to sandwich me. 😞)

Satoru Gojo with a lesbian best friend
Hey there! This is my first ever posted piece of writing and I’m starting off with a random thought that has been in my brain for 3 DAYS-
anyway, call me AGG or AGGIE if you want so.. enjoy :D
warnings: minor hidden inventory arc spoilers, pedophile joke, tiny bit of cursing
Tumblr media
TEEN GOJO: •Ok so, Gojo as your best friend.. AND BEING LESBIAN is a total feat-
•You 2 would probably meet by him hitting on you and you’re just over here like; 🧍‍♀️
•Once the fact that you like girls click to his mind, he’ll want to become friends with you cuz teen Gojo was just a lil’ silly guy, yk? :D
•All of his fangirls would most likely get the wrong idea and think you’re his girlfriend or something
•You know that one scene where Gojo changed his lock screen to Inoue Waka?
•Yup. The moment Gojo said “Isn’t she hot?” I BET YOU LOOKED OVER TO SEE WHO IT WAS yes, I watched dub.
•He would most likely tease you with Geto when your crush walked by.
•Gojo would probably ask you for girl advice and you would ask him back.
•Now you guys are going through a chalkboard all about girls and crushes to see all the possible outcomes of asking them out.
•He would probably sit with you in silence but try to lighten the mood by saying “Found any new girls yet?”
•Gojo is definitely going to make several jokes about you liking Shoko, Mei mei, and even Utahime-
•Whenever you talk to a girl you like, he would most likely start playing some romantic music to embarrass you
•The thing he would stoop down low to is while meeting Riko, he would say “Woah there Y/n! We can’t have a pedophile near the kid!”
•*Cue Geto scolding Gojo for saying that IN FRONT of Riko*
ADULT GOJO:
•He would definitely still pull the pedophile joke in front of his students
•Yuji and Nobara FLIP when they find out you liked girls
•ofc Megs knew cuz Gojo begged you to help out with Megumi and Tsumiki years ago
•Once you find out about the Jogo and Gojo fight, you immediately have the urge to ask him “So.. you’re gay now?”
•He’d probably answer with “So.. you’re still single?” or “Maybe I am, maybe I’m not.”
•But let’s say you actually a girlfriend..
•HE IS SPILLING TEA WITH THE 1 YEARS AND THE 2ND YEARS ASAP😭
•Now, you have teenagers begging to meet your girlfriend.
•If you ever break up with her, then expect Gojo to either barge into your house with a TON sweets
•”sigh.. I always knew you were gonna stay single!”
•During the reunion with Geto and shit, he would just drop the bomb on you and say “You still single? Seems like girls just aren’t into you.” JUST TO PISS YOU OFF AND EXPOSE YOU IN FRONT OF THE 2ND YEARS😨 cuz he’s just that kind of bitch
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Note: Wow, that was kinda short but it was all I could think of! Hope you enjoyed! My requests are always open! <3
In honour of the fact that we apparently have 12 poll choices and not 10 like I thought, I considered giving myself a little challenge for future projects. I'll write a little something about the outcome of this poll!
A ficlet each about the top three choices!
Random ship combinations, platonic and romantic! Meaning: First and second place get paired, third and fourth, fifth and sixth and so on! Thus, literally every vote matters!
finished kamen rider hibiki's second half
Tumblr media
this was some of the worst tv i have seen period. they were told to make it like a rider show and we got exactly that. an encapsulation of every single rider trope and flaw buried in a pile of pure spite and hatred for the thoughtful masterpiece that is the first half. this IS rider.
like it's not just random and spiteful, but it's also actively toxic and harmful. the sexism is fucking insane in this one. every character gets humilliated and demeaned, with the akira oni eps being the absolute nadir of the show. the kids are blamed for being lost and needing guidance from the adults. every adult in this is seen as an unmanly failure. and the only kid who gets to be an oni is the one who bullies everyone and acts like a loser for most of the show. what are kids supposed to learn from this?
honestly incompetence isn't enough to explain this. it can only explain so fucking much. this is too targeted to opposing every message of the first half in an almost surgical way. they went out of their way to oppose every single one of the thoughtful lessons and character arcs the show made before this, humilliating every character just because it Wasn't Rider Enough. someone upstairs at bandai or toei was really fucking mad at hibiki and burned tons of cash to make this harmful crap. they could have just made a lighter retool or even just pulled the plug but no they kept on making the expensive decisions they hated and planned to make EVEN more (including firing the entire staff and cast) just to shit on hibiki 1. like what the fuck was up at bandai.
they were willing to tell children their worries are useless, that if you are a girl you are a waste of space and that believing in people is bad, just to spite the show. they humilliated a teen girl by stripping her of her dignity and her literal clothes.
and the thing is. inoue was actually successful at what he was told to do. he made it into a rider show. sure, it's the worst example of it but. it's definitely more riderlike. a toxically masculine, sexist mess with shallow lessons. this is rider at its most exposed.
and it's sad bc since kuuga, rider did try to be more than that. but blade and hibiki failing, and this....atrocity of a show happening reversed all of it. it never recovered from returning to that.
i won't watch any more rider after this. this just killed it for me.
For the AO3 Wrapped Meme: Favorite pairing you wrote for this year? (non-romantic edition). I love the way your fics always have the most perfect interactions between pairs of characters, sometimes the usual suspects, sometimes completely unexpected combos, but something interesting and insightful always come out of it. My favorite was the time you wrote about Isane and Renji washing their socks together, but I'd like to know what yours is.
AO3 Wrapped Meme
Aww thank youuu! 🥺 I too am also incredibly fond of Isane and Renji washing their socks together, because I like Isane and Renji doing laundry together, but also because that scene determined what the structure of the entire fic was going to need to be, because if Isane and Renji spent 500 words washing socks, then Iemura would have to be here, and Hisagi too, and Isane can't just read a letter and reminisce, no, she and Unohana are going on a HIKING TRIP--
This year I enjoyed writing Hinamori introducing herself to Sasakibe via 18th century British literature; I enjoyed Orihime and Hitsugaya dealing with the Worm TV; I enjoyed the Hanbantai Players forcing interactions with others. But the first thing that came to mind is less a pair and more a triangulation, from D O N K I :
"Yes," Hitsugaya agrees. He'd spent a month in Nagano several decades ago, on his first solo deployment to the Living World. It had felt very similar to Junrinan, as his captain had known it would.
"Kurosaki-kun's father drove me there once," Inoue says. "Nagano, I mean. It's where--Well, that's where my family grave is. My aunt forced my grandparents to let him be interred there. But it was so far, and I thought I was going to take the train, and then a bus, and then walk, but--Kurosaki-kun's father drove me all the way. He waited outside the cemetery for hours, all by himself. He smoked a pack of cigarettes. And then he drove me home."
Hitsugaya tries to imagine Kurosaki Isshin driving a car.
At this point in the fic, Orihime’s been thinking about Sora a lot, because she’s thinking about the Winter War and thinking about going to Soul Society to train with Rukia, and just generally thinking about change that you can’t turn back from. And Hitsugaya’s been thinking about Hinamori. Orihime doesn’t know Hinamori, and Hitsugaya just learned that Orihime even has a brother like 5 minutes ago, but one person they do both know is Isshin (even if Orihime doesn’t know that they both know him).
From Orihime’s perspective, she’s telling this story in the context of “places she has been and why” and in the context of Sora, and her relationship to Ichigo, AKA the person she followed into this Winter War. For Hitsugaya, this story is one piece of what Isshin has been up to this whole time. And what he’s been up to is driving Orihime--a little girl whose brother died in his clinic, who is a classmate of his son’s--to a funeral three hours away, waiting for the duration of the entire funeral (probably thinking about Masaki, because what else would you be compelled to do when standing outside a cemetery for hours), and then driving her all the way back home. I think Hitsugaya finds a lot of value in knowing that whatever else might’ve gone down, Isshin is still out there offering quixotic energy to random kids he crosses paths with.
I really like this connection as part of Orihime and Hitsugaya’s relationship to each other--as some other thing they share, outside of their present situation/impending war.
thinking about my second experiences with each of the 3 big toku franchises . not first, second bc I was infinitely more confused, hysterical but having a fun time on the second season of these shows i watched . LIKE i do not experience surprise very often but this is truly a brand new medium/ genre (?)
like in my brain I tried to establish tropes n conventions since they’re such big franchises and they’re probably got a formula and they do but it’s always the dumbest little things that get me completely confounded on the second season of these shows i watch . or major things, but how different these shows can truly be from like 30+ seasons of content still amazes me
my brain after watching ryuki and going on to watch ooo which was not only sensory overload , the belt was singing , the villains being the monsters and actualized characters like it was all so new and shocking . secondaries weren’t always established characters? they can just be some random motherfucker ? YOU MEAN THEY JUST SOMETIMES APPEAR AROUND THE EPISODE MARK THEYRE SUPPOSED TO APPEAR AND THERES NO PRIOR HINTS SOMETIMES ??? never getting over first time meeting of accel, who was just some fucking guy that appeared out of nowhere and started shit talking 😭 like BRO . but ooos also totally gaslights you into thinking the secondary is gonna be gotou AND PULLS UP WITH DATE , a man I had never seen ever i had pure confusion for the next several episodes .
im watching orb and ep 7 told me Gai was an ultra ? what the fuck do you mean, i thought there were just hosts like I looked over all the weird stuff thinking he’s just quirky you mean he’s literally a space alien . like this psycho, is that heroic noble race of space alien bfr my friend had told me and I was like 😧 spoilers . it??? wasn’t supposed to??? but how in the world was I, second time viewer who only know about hosts supposed to react to the guy just being an ultra. i still don’t know what juggler is
my first sentai was donbrothers and the reprogramming i had to go through to understand the rest of sentai seasons a regular amount . 6th rangers actually mattered a shit ton . most teams aren’t dysfunctional , most villain groups were monster designs n generals n their boss not some fucking sparkly human alien things . i mean, most of them, weren’t humanoids ! the shock when the teams weren’t actually extreme personalities , only some of them were but they were mostly still human beings . I understand why saruhara’s actor was so confused about the character now, what the fuck is he . i can’t believe they greenlit these characters , inoue is just allowed to do fucking anything
anyway i really enjoy how they’re so fresh everytime, i may not be 100% into all of them but what I can admit is that they’ve been different from each other so much every season I’ve been able to watch n it’s a delight
My Review of Lycoris Recoil
Tumblr media
How did I get into this anime? I had a few open slots for new anime last summer. Plus, this came on the recommendation of one of my friends.
Tumblr media
Japan seems to be at the most peaceful here than I’ve ever seen in any anime. That’s thanks to these assassins (known as “Lycoris”). Their jobs are to stop crime before it starts. One such Lycorsis is named Takina Inoue. There’s no doubt that she can get the job done, but really has no mindset for innocent bystanders. For fuck’s sake, she used a machine gun to take down some kidnappers and no fucks given about the hostage. Takina has a mindset that goes like, “You’re alive, right? So, you’re fine!” Takina was later moved to another section by a DA. Takina will now live and work at a café named LycoReco. Random. Actually, quite the opposite as this café has quite the crack-team including the hacker Kurumi, the getaway driver Mizuki, and the bad-ass teacher Mika.
Tumblr media
Takina is now the newest member of this little section under the careful eye of Chisato Nishikigi. Chisato is another young girl that’s about Takina’s age and is considered to be the best Lycoris to learn from. However, Chisato is the polar opposite of Takina. Chisato is a lot more extroverted and has a philosophy of avoiding casualties during missions and that includes the bad guys. Can Takina learn something from spending time with Chisato and the other workers at LycoReco?
BETWEEN THE SUB AND THE DUB: This has been claimed by Aniplex of America and Crunchyroll. I got the opportunity to hear the English dub to this and thought they did a really good job. But I already knew it was in good hands when you’ve got Xanthe Huynh and Lizzie Freeman in the cast. Here’s what you might recognize these folks from.
JAPANESE CAST: *Takina is played by Shion Wakayama
*Chisato is played by Chika Anzai (known for Mina on Attack on Titan, Barbara on The Promised Neverland, Ryou on Taisho Fairy Tale, Nanamine on Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun, and Sugawara on O Maidens in Your Savage Season)
ENGLISH CAST: *Takina is played by Xanthe Huynh (known for Platelets on Cells at Work, Hanyuu on Higurashi Gou, Menma on Anohana, Nagisa on Madoka Magica, Hanayo on Love Live, and PallaPalla on Sailor Moon [redub])
*Chisato is played by Lizzie Freeman (known for Chizuru on Rent-A-Girlfriend, Trish on Jojo’s Pt. 5, Hinata on Tokyo Revengers, Cardinal on SAO: Alicization, Mujika on The Promised Neverland, and Kizuna on Shield Hero)
Tumblr media
SHIPPING: Let’s just say I ship these two the same way I ship Mikoto and Kuroko from the Railgun/Index series. I support it. I know it isn’t canon-canon, but enough hints were dropped for a majority of fans to support this.
Tumblr media
CONTROVERSIAL EYE-CATCH: Has there ever been controversy revolving around an eye-catch? You know, those 5-second eye-catches animes put up halfway into an episode! In episode 11, we get an eye-catch of the girls putting spider lilies (a.k.a. those fucking flowers) in their mouths and smoking them like a cigarette. The higher-ups said, “Oh no, we can’t have our fans mimicking this. Those flowers are poisonous AF!” And so, it is changed from now on! One might think that this was taken way too far. But again, those fucking flowers are poisonous. Cosplayers will do anything to get that perfect shot. I wouldn’t put anything past anyone.
Tumblr media
ENDING: Pretty much every major showdown this series has given us is connected to everything that happened in the first few episodes, those ammo hijackers. The one that seems to be pulling the strings is this guy named Majima. He’s the one who looks like a poor man’s Meme Oshino. Majima knows that he’s been tracked by a Lycoris, mainly Chisato. As it turns out, the two of them have more in common than one would think. Both were involved in a major event that caused the massive destruction of the Tokyo Tower. And both had extreme surgery by an institute.
Tumblr media
It was made clear that Chisato had some major surgery done. She has no heartbeat due to this advanced machinery put in. Mika and the Alan Institute took a chance with this as Chisato was already showing promise as a Lycoris. But the heart condition she had would have squashed that. Unfortunately, Chisato’s life has been significantly shortened. A shady nurse that’s in cahoots with Mr. Yoshie (the man who gave Chisato’s life a second chance) drugged Chisato during a physical and tinkered with her ticker. At most, Chisato has two months to live.
Tumblr media
Bigger changes are also on the horizon. Chisato got the DA to allow Takina to return. And most surprising of all is that LycoReco is going to close down. This means that Kurumi and Mizuki can leave Japan and do their own thing before coming into this life. We gotta start wondering why Mr. Yoshie is behind this sudden change with Chisato. Well, he and Mika made arrangements on how many kills she’s able to make. But as we all know, Chisato doesn’t want to kill anyone. Mika just wanted Chisato to live a happy life. We might have to put all that drama to the side as Majima hijacked all communication and revealed of the Lycoris’s existence (as the group has been top secret up to this point) and kinda set traps all around the city. If the Lycoris see civilians with firearms, they get in position out of habit. So, this is not good. Not just that, but Chisato and Mika are dealing with a hacker who kidnapped Mr. Yoshie.
Tumblr media
Chisato made it to where Mr. Yoshie was being held and was confronted by Majima. He was able to tilt the fight to his own advantage and got in a couple of cheap-shots. In the meantime, his hijacking broadcast is still making airwaves showing the residents of Japan that yes, killer little girls walk among us and 3000 people disappear a year because of them. Okay, enough of this Meme Oshino knock-off. Let’s get this LycoReco crew back together again. The crew was able to temporarily knock-out Majima and hack into the system to stop broadcast of the Lycoris. Unfortunately, the higher-ups are ready to exterminate every, last Lycoris because their identities were revealed.
Okay, now is when I can be suspicious of this anime. Never trust an anime that features those red fucking flowers in the opening sequence. Because there’s a chance many characters are going to be killed.
Tumblr media
Anyways, Chisato and Takina were able to save the Lycoris that were about to be exterminated. The only thing that fell through for Takina was that she was stopped by Chisato when she tried to go after Mr. Yoshie. He was of course responsible for Chisato’s shortened life-span. But Chisato’s kind nature once again prevents anyone from dying. Although, she does shoot Mr. Yoshie (it just doesn’t kill him). Mika might kill him though. He shows he can really kick ass! Chisato winds up alone with Majima again. He’s going to suicide-bomb the building. Luckily, Takina is coming to the rescue. Now the next things that happen I can only chalk this up as convenience.
Majima takes a nasty tumble during the altercation and is somehow still alive. The “bomb” he set off was really fireworks. Chisato is going to remain alive thanks to Mr. Yoshie again.
Okay then. I’m all for happy endings, but all of this seems rather too convenient.
Tumblr media
In the aftermath, LycoReco is back open. But Chisato never returned. Takina eventually went on a mission to track her down. In Chisato fashion, she decided to heal herself alone. Well, everyone wound up together again and end up in Hawaii. Okay, that sounds like something Chisato would do.
This anime was definitely a wild card of excitement. Usually, the summer anime seasons are the “lull” season with not much going on. Last summer was no exception, it was a bit of a lull. But Lycoris Recoil and Made in Abyss were the big hits of that season in my opinion. What’s even better is that Lycoris Recoil is an original anime. The manga adaptation only came out 2 months after the anime’s premier. This anime was silly, action-packed, and just a joy to watch. For all of you action fanatics, this might be right up your alley. Many reviewers say this is like John Wick. I have never watched any of the John Wick movies, but that’s probably an incentive if you have.
I’m glad this anime is getting more attention here and there. I mean, they collabed with Pizza Hut recently. God, could these two be any more like the girls from Railgun?! Okay, that’s all from me. I say give it a go!
If you want to check this out, Crunchyroll has every episode available for streaming (and in several languages as well).
CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT TASK 001: MEET THE FAMILY [REDUX]
Family Aesthetics: ‘you know you can tell us anything, right’, a completely filled ash tray, working terrible hours and coming home late at night, 90s grunge aesthetic, a teeny tiny apartment with no AC and a shitty water heating system, a fridge full of cheap knock off brands, been there done that, cheering extremely loud while the rest of the parents give them strange looks, terribly played out of tune guitars, ignored knowing looks, constant memes in the family group chat, lovingly giving each other shit, doing anything for their child and not understanding a word that comes out of his mouth, late night conversations over takeout.
PRE OLLIE
REN INOUE [ 48 yrs old ; mechanic ] [ fc yutaka takenouchi ]
Ren was born in Hiroshima Japan, and would be the only child his parents had. He lived in Japan for three years before his parents moved him and themselves to New York City, so he honestly doesn't remember much of it.
Like a lot of first gen kids from foreign families there was a lot of pressure put on Ren to become successful, and assimilate into a new country. Unfortunately for the Inoue's, Ren was an extremely rebellious person and that is what he spent most of his youth doing.
He created a band in High School with some of his friends called Drink the Kool Aid (he's the lead guitarist), and spent most of his time fucking around with them, fucking around with random people in bars, getting drunk, getting high, and partying. So, no, he did not graduate high school. He never saw the point in formal education.
When he was about 23 he met a girl named Faye and the two hit it off pretty fast. She was fun, she liked the same music as him, she thought his band was cool, the partied together literally all the time. They liked hanging out they were friends.
Until one day when he was around 27 Faye told him she was pregnant and thus Ollie was born.
FAYE INOUE [ 45 yrs old ; hostess & cashier ] [ fc christina ricci ]
Faye Bright was born in Hoboken New Jersey, the youngest child of the Bright family and the only daughter. Her mother left shortly after she was born leaving her and her three older brothers as her father's responsibility.
Her father was a drunk, and much much worse more often than not, and her older brothers weren't much better, so Faye often found herself anywhere but at home from the age of eight until she moved out on her own at the age of sixteen. She hasn't spoken to her brother's or her father since moving out.
She was mostly getting into trouble in those years. Going out and partying way too young. But who was going to fucking stop her?
It wasn't all fun and games, though. Faye often worked multiple jobs while finishing High School, supporting herself, because nobody was going to do it for her. Her life was rocky, and difficult, but she still managed to do it all on her own without needing anybody else.
When she was about 18 years old one night, wandering into some city pub playing some shitty punk band is the night she met Ren. He was fun, and interesting, and the two of them developed a fun little friendship.
She never planned for it to become more than that until she realized she was pregnant with his child, and everything changed for the both of them.
POST OLLIE
The first years of Ollie's life were rough for both him and his parents for many reasons. Ren, who at the time was also dealing with his father's death, wouldn't have known responsibility if you pasted the definition onto his forehead. He was great with Ollie but damn if he'd ever be able to take care of him. Faye on the other hand was almost the opposite, she had a job, she could buy food for the baby but … she was sorting through her own trauma and to say she was a bit cold towards the baby would be an understatement.
If it was not for Ren's mother, Yumiko, Ollie's Obaasan, he likely would have had a much much worse time during his early development. She set down an ultimatum, that unless they wanted her to take Ollie for herself, and move back to Japan they needed to shape up. It was rough for both of his parents. His father got clean (besides casual drinking and smoking pot), got his Equivalency, and started a job as a mechanic. Faye struggled a little more, but went to some free counseling at a shelter, and as time went on had an easier time building bonds with Ollie.
By the time Ollie was five his parents were making enough to move into an apartment of their own that was big enough to house all of them, not Ren's mother's one bedroom apartment they had been living in. And once Ollie was six Yumiko Inoue moved back to Japan feeling like his parents were up to the task of taking care of their child.
Ren and Faye were legally married pretty soon after that at a local courthouse, mainly for the benefits it would bring, rather than being in love with each other - but who needed to be in love to get married? If anything their relationship was much stronger than almost every single one of the married couples around them, they've shown that years and years over now. Ollie's never had a reason to complain about their relationship.
While the bonds between the Inoue family were quite good, it was still rough going. Ren and Faye were working more often than not and Ollie found himself home alone often. They did their best to make sure he wasn't left up to his own devices hen they could, and there were many free children's programs Ollie was stuck into. Everything from children's tumbling, to summer reading programs and everything in between. It was many of the people in charge of those programs that told Ren and Faye that Ollie was showing signs of being an extremely gifted child. He was learning at a much faster rate than any of his peers, had a reading level far beyond someone his age, and was frankly just very smart.
They didn't ever have the means to put Ollie into any advanced private schools, and any time someone offered any sort of opportunity for a scholarship Ollie outright refused. He just wanted to go to school with his friends, and all was well about it, really. He did eventually get tested officially, and it was determined his IQ was 169 (nice) which put him in the .03 percentile of the world's population.
His parents did what they could to insist Ollie take advantage of the skills he'd been given. He had a real opportunity to become something much better than either of them became. He could really do something to help all of them in the long run. They didn't mean to but there was a lot of pressure put on Ollie, and he didn't want to disappoint anybody. So, eventually Ollie agreed to advance his classes, and was put into High School a year ahead of his peers.
Ollie became a lot to handle for his parents through out his teenage years, despite how hard they tried. They fought all the time, Ollie would be gone for days at a time with only a few texts telling them (lying) about where he was, and the signs that Ollie was using drugs (to two people who also got into drug use when they were younger) were probably pretty obvious. But it was hard to really do anything about it. Ollie was still getting top grades in school, he was turning in all of his work, he was so skilled at fleecing the system that neither his parents, nor his school could really … do much unless he was the one who reached out. And he never did.
It was clear that Ollie was a troubled teenager, but his parents worked so hard and so often all they could really do was make it clear that if he ever wanted to talk they would listen. He never did.
So, despite the underlying worry that always lingered around their son, they were always extremely proud and supportive no matter what he was able to accomplish. He graduated the top of his class, and they were so excited for him. He got accepted into such a great school, Ogden, and was the first person in their family to go to college and they were so excited for him.
There were a lot of rough years for the family, but things have come full circle. Ollie's matured a little bit (shocking I know) and realizes his parents aren't actually out to get him, in fact if anything they've been probably a little too soft with him but he appreciates them. And the longer he's been away from home the more he's come to appreciate them (hard not to when he's surrounded with the terrible stories everyone else at Ogden has of their parents). Over all things with the Inoue family are going well. At least as far as Ollie is concerned. He sees no reason why his parents would still be worried about him, or anything. He's doing great.
OLLIE'S OPINON
First of all, write this down: his parents are really fucking cool. They're both still very 90s grunge type of people, and it's obvious to tell just by looking at either of them, or their aesthetic. It was fairly often that Ollie was brought to some shitty dive bar to help his dad and his dad's band set up for some set they were playing. They were never good, but it was always a lot of fun, and Ollie has a ton of fond memories hanging out with his mom and dad, eating some real good bar food. Most of his childhood was honestly a really good one, from everything he can remember. And even though things got tougher as he grew up (mostly thanks to him) it's extremely hard not to look at his relationship with his parents and see it positively. They fought a lot when Ollie was a teenager, Ollie did a lot of shitty and stupid things just to be a brat. But he is aware that despite how busy they were working they were doing it all for him, and they tried so much to be there for him. He's not stupid, he's not blind, he saw it all. He resented them for it at the time, but it makes him love them even more now.
All that said they put a massive amount of pressure on Ollie. They knew he was the only way they were all getting out of the hole they live in, he knew that too. They told him multiple times everything was his choice and they'd never make him do anything he didn't want to do but he saw the disappointment every time he turned down some opportunity that would have really done something for him. Eventually he gave in, and that is likely why he is where he is now, but it was never something he actually ever wanted. it was simply clear that… he had to make it. They made that clear. He couldn’t waste what he had- skill, potential, natural talent. They never were mean about anything. He never felt like if he screwed up that they wouldn’t love him. And that made it so much worse but he constantly feels like he’s fucking up. That he’s living on this precarious edge that any wrong move he makes will show all the ugly, messy, fucked up things he does, and feels, and this image that they have of him will be shattered. He’s terrified of that happening, but he feels like it’s only a matter of time.
SOME FUN FACTS
Due to dad and his grandma mostly handling his very early childhood he learned Japanese before he learned English, but he doesn't know how to write it. And he doesn't necessarily consider himself fluent, because beyond his grandma and dad the only real place he heard Japanese was in anime or movies. Which is a bit different than how people speak if he were to actually go to Japan and speak with people. But it was technically his first language.
No one in his family cooks. Ollie can bake, but cooking? Most meals in the Inoue family were sandwiches, mac & cheese, instant ramen, rice, and onigiri. Also anything you can microwave. That was basically it.
Ollie's parents always try very very hard to go to school functions when they can. It's not easy since Ogden is about 6 hours away from New York, but they really try hard to show up when they can to important things. Ollie doesn't hold it against them, and if they do miss something important they always go out to celebrate on their own together when they can.
The whole family is stoners, sorry. Yes, his parents know he smokes pot, and have said they know. But he's an adult now and can do what they want. The apartment has a ton of snacks in it because they're all stoners though.
Do they know he does harder drugs (yes). Do they know he has addiction problems (probably). Have they ever addressed it? No. Honestly one of the biggest problems with his parents is they're not really good at discipline, it's always been a thing. They probably don't know how to even begin addressing this sort of situation. It's strange. He’s kind of existing in this strange place where like… If they confront him about it he’ll die figuratively, if they DON’T … he might die literally. he really doesn't know what he wants to happen.
Yae Miko tricking you by asking for your help in getting a gift for Ei.
Before you realized it, your wrists and ankles were already bound together, and a red silk blindfold covered your eyes. You found yourself wearing almost nothing but a red ribbon, tightly wrapping around your arms, thighs and waist.
It wasn't long before the blindfold became soaked in your tears of pleasure as Ei and Miko fucks both of your holes simultaneously. Their hold on you is almost bruising but you can't help but ask for more when they're fucking you so good and deep.
Hours passed and they're still at it, only changing positions from time to time to pound you in a different angle. You don't even know if your cries are asking for more or begging them to stop when it hurts so good but it doesn't matter, they're not stopping anytime soon anyway.
My DonBrothers Episode 21 Thoughts
Tumblr media
Dying that I'm a day late for this anyways.
It's so interesting to see that there were 5,000 Donbrothers prior to the current team like wow how did THAT many people fuck up and lose their powers so much that not a single one could even actually qualify for the position? Imagine turning into Inu Brother and deciding to commit crimes or hit on women the balls it takes to disgrace the name of a warrior.
But this also adds a lot of depth to the characters because while Tarou is essentially the closest thing that humanity will ever have to the concept of perfection, the other team members are flawed, self obsessed, crazy, and honestly just all over the place in terms of what they want for themselves and others yet were the ones to actually meet Tapru, fight the bad guys, and choose to keep being warriors.
Also seeing Don Torabolt/Feral Jirou is smth to behold like wow king yes be feral and sexy I guess.
I also cannot believe Don Murasame asked the question we were all asking and then his Mother told him that it was a dumb question and he's dumb while that random monster got absorbed into soup like where am I? Inoue what is your plan here I don't get it at all anymore.
The last thing I wanna say is that Don Onitaijin being able to actually be human sized is probably the best thing in Super Sentai Mech history and I couldn't be happier with what they did for its design and role in the series I seriously need that model kit asap
anyway since i finished faiz last night here are my thoughts on the infamous ending arc (under cut for spoilers) (and for walls of text jesus how did this get so long)
so faiz definitely falls apart in the last 10 eps. no doubt about that. compared to the absolute kino that was the 30s... man, it’s like night and day. and this comes down to what i keep saying, which is that faiz is at its best when it focuses on the core seven characters, and at its worst when it focuses on... literally anything else. and what did we get in the 40s? yuka dies, kiba fucks off to do whatever, and takumi is reduced to a background character in his own show for much of the 40s, to say nothing of keitarou and mari. the entire thing is about mari’s stupid adoptive dad and the orphenoch king and the ryuusei school and all this stuff that i DO NOT CARE ABOUT. give me the core trios!!! give me the core character stuff!!! give me takumi and kiba entrusting their lives to each other instead of kiba treating takumi like a stranger!!!
because hoooo boy was kiba’s whole deal poorly executed. on paper it’s compelling - the kind person who believed in humanity finally experiences too much cruelty to handle, loses faith in humanity, and defects to the side of humanity’s enemy. but for the change in his personality and worldview to be so sudden, so complete, and so permanent, it was just bad. it was just bad! on top of that, yuka’s death meant the show was minus one of my favorite characters, and kiba basically becoming a different person meant it was for all intents and purposes minus another of my favorite characters, and between that and takumi doing jack shit for like 5 whole episodes i really did not care what was happening. also - he ORDERED TAKUMI TO BE EXPERIMENTED ON??? FUCK OFF!!! HE WOULD NOT DO THAT!!!! YOU CAN’T JUST MAKE HIM A WHOLE DIFFERENT GUY!!!!
side note: kusaka’s death. was really looking forward to that and in the end it was just kind of meh because i had no idea what was happening at that point in the show at all. like, random incoherent stuff happened before my eyes, and he got his neck snapped on the beach as a result. yay? i will give inoue this which is that i’d heard that the narrative really wants you to feel bad he died but i didn’t get that vibe so much, it kind of just felt like everyone going “wtf kiba straight-up snapped that guy’s neck that’s so fucked up” and also mari being sad which makes sense because she was attached to him. the thing is that again the show was simply not coherent enough at this point for me to feel like it was taking a real stance about kusaka dying. takumi getting Really Pissed at kiba about it was so lame though like omg who caressssss
that said, i think the show managed to regain a bit of its footing in the last two episodes. i liked the trolley problem it set up - kill this kid to save humanity, or kill humanity to save the orphenochs. it was still kind of dumb and not as compelling as ryuki’s trolley problems but it was something. i really liked the thematic thread, woven through all the bullshit, of orphenochs as this group of people who were never meant to exist, and are either fighting a fruitless struggle against their inevitable disappearance or simply accepting it. it contributed to the feeling of quiet hopelessness and depression that faiz is good at. the impending specter of takumi dying soon was really good and also contributed to that feeling. when he said to kiba he was scared of dying but wanted to live his life to the fullest i was like ououougghh. so yeah some good stuff in there.
still though, that ending...? i’d heard that the last episode was infamously rushed, but while i was watching it i was like huh this is no worse than faiz has been for the last 10 eps and also has some compelling stuff (mentioned above). and then with 5 minutes left it cut straight from the climatic blow of the final battle to several days later and i was like OH LMAO. INOUE YOU REALLY BEEFED THE PACING ON THAT HUH. real “oh shit this essay is due at midnight and it’s 11:55” energy. so that just ruined a whole bunch of stuff right there. like kiba’s death - i knew he’d die from takumi’s rider kick, but i didn’t realize he was sacrificing himself to keep the enemy in place for takumi to kick him, a real interesting and potentially compelling last-minute redemption, except then we immediately cut away from it and it’s never mentioned again in the Five Fucking Minutes of the show left to us. so like great job on that huh.
and the question of, is takumi still dying or not? what happened to that? the shot of him looking at his hand with blurred vision seems to suggest that, but it’s such a weak thrown-in-there reference in the middle of what looks like a “happy ever after” type of scene i’m like man what??? i knew it was ambiguous if he dies or not, but i was expecting, like, you see him close his eyes onscreen and the question is whether he died or just passed out. something that would give a real sense of finality and grimness to it. so to have it be that vague and open-ended and contradictory was a letdown :/
anyway. yeah! faiz ending! it wasn’t as bad as i was bracing myself for. that’s my review, i guess? i mean i just finished kiva a month ago and that was TERRIBLE so this is like, fine ok, in comparison. there’s my review: Not As Bad As Kiva. high praise! it’s still pretty bad though. i agree with the people who maintain that it really needed just one more episode and a lot of problems with the last ep would have been fine, but that still wouldn’t have fixed the problems of the entire show gradually losing coherency, along with half the stuff that made it compelling, in the last 10 eps. like if you gave it another episode it would probably have done a much better job of tying all the themes together and would probably have made me cry, but even that would be a major downgrade from the lovely thematic clarity and relative plot consistency of the first 10 episodes. but that’s inoue endings for you. at least it’s not kiva
Donbrothers is a Super Sentai, so why Doragoku appeared to pay homage to Faiz? That should be Revice’s job.
That honour before reason attitude going to get Sonoi in trouble with the Council.
Noto’s attacks sent Hitotsu-ki to dimensional prison instead of purifying them. Did the other members or at least Tarou knew about this? Was this why no one confronted Kiji?
I personally thought being imprisoned there was a fate worse than death, and Kiji still did it with the intent to kill, so the others should still have confronted him.
Who provided Donbrothers’ technologies? Why it advanced enough to do what the Noto’s weapons could not?
I thought the equipment was something the Don clan left behind for Tarou, but they were part of the Noto once.
Considering the Noto looked down on humans while the Don clan wished for co-existence with humans, likely as equal, perhaps the Noto simply did not bother to develop a weapon to purify Hitotsu-ki even though they likely had a mean for it, being a ‘perfect’ being and all.
Losing points caused Kitou to lost mobility and Saru lost his soul. Back in episode 6, Miho went into the hospital, was it also caused by the drop in Kiji’s points?
I guessed, losing points meant losing something they cherished. Kitou’s loss of mobility appeared random, but she always struck me as a self-reliant. Though she did not scorn other people’s help and actively seek it out when needed, if she were bounded in the wheelchair for much longer, she likely would fall into the same pit of despair as Saru.
I have no comment on Jirou’s sudden bout of insanity. This is just Inoue’s charm in the work, don’t think too much of it.
