ok so i have a little idea for some sort of expansion slash next installment for splatoon since!! it seems like a good opportunity!! so after the events of splat3 story mode, since octavio is an ally and all now, but since that thread wasn’t really tied up, octavio and the octarian government by extension (since we have no idea whether he’s just a military leader or if he’s like a king or smth) enter a peace treaty with the inkadian government, as in, they’re no longer forced underground or robbed of resources. since grizzco is under new management it’s probably likely that a fair few of the golden eggs go to the octarians now in exchange for technology . salmonids don’t like this double crossing and declare war on both the octarians and inkadia lol.

ALSO as for the propaganda on both sides (inklings being taught that octarians are extinct and octarians inkling hating propaganda) it’s slowly phased out generationally so that it doesn’t cause tooooo much of a stir in the public for the inkling side, and the octarian side kind of remains the same because like... well, why wouldnt you absolutely despise the people who forced you underground, took your land and starved you of resources. the calamari inkantation was heard by octavio too and he wasn’t really eager to peacefully join the inklings after hearing it given splat2 storymode, so who’s to say some other octarians that heard it don’t have the same opinion as him? as for more octarians appearing around inkadia it’s probably chalked up to them being foreigners, kind of like in the game lol. 

so basically the game/expansion would be set in this octarian city. dunno abt the story but more customisation options based on different types of cephalopods would probably be neat

I don't have many more latino headcanons since Big Man is canonically based on Brasilian music and Marina has been shown to be inspired by Mexico (I think it was that one of the directors lived in Mexico in their childhood, please somebody correct me if I'm wrong) For the rest of the characters I headcanon them to be Japanese or Japanese mixed

Why do you think people are chill with the localizations for the idols' names but everyone had a hernia at the splatbands'? Is it because we were exposed to them earlier and we were used to it or were the names for the bands just straight-up THAT bad?

its the first thing. we got the idols localized names at the same time as the jp ones so we had no time to care. meanwhile for the band members we'd been calling them by the JP names for over 4 years so of course its gonna be jarring. some of the localized names are close to the original in some way, some are funny. literally the only ones that bother me are quinn and mashup not only because the names are. well. worse. but because the NA splatoon team had already offically called those two by the names of ikkan and warabi!

Finally approaching the Waluigi Arc in my rewatch/the list of episodes I'm adapting in Squid Memes and it's always been weird to me that The Mario Carnival was broadcast before Mario the Scam Artist when the latter was an immediate follow-up to If Mario was in...Saw. And I can't remember off the top of my head but I think the actual Waluigi Arc playlist puts them in chronological order instead of upload order, plus there's a line or two in Carnival that allude to the ending of Scam Artist so...yeah I'm putting Scam Artist between Saw and Carnival where it should be.

And yes I'm including the whole arc...well, apart from Fishy Boopkins plays VR Chat but that's only just barely relevant thanks to the very last scene anyway.

Since people are freaking out about the map, just thought I'd make a short post about something I noticed:

So as you can see, Alterna is marked as 'The Last Resort' on here, right?

Definitely weird/somewhat ominous, I think we can all agree lol.

But something interesting of note is that this is actually different from the original Japanese version of the text; here's what it looks like btw:

The stuff in the brackets at the bottom says 'Alterna', fyi. And the text above it (and before you ask, yes I checked this extensively so I'm fairly certain this is accurate)... says 'Another Earth'.

Just thought that was worth pointing out :)

I am too lazy 2 draw but i have these two splatoon ocs i need names for

One is an ex-octarian soldier that moved to the splatlands after escaping the domes. She works at a small restaurant, but her real passion lies in weapon design and her whole apartment is filled with questionably legal modded weapons (her favorite is the terrifying “explosher 2″ that is basically a splat bomb launcher.).

Despite this, she doesn’t play turf because she is a MASSIVE sweat and doesn’t understand its meant to just be for fun. Also she can’t use her Grizzco-level weapons. She lives with my other oc who’s parents basically adopted her after hearing that she was a defected member of DJ octavio’s army.

The other is my neo agent 3 oc, He is a younger Splatland-native octoling that is a huge showoff, he lives and breathes turf war and begs his sister to help him by adding juust a bit more firepower to his Aerospray. He is a gear collector, and does countless shifts of salmon run to feed his addiction. This doesn’t help his grade though, you can’t exactly study while 15 grillers are coming your way. He also is obessed with human history, and goes artifact hunting in the desert on weekends. 3 often cheerfully tells his sister the most horrifying things about humans culture, simply finding it fascinating. He mostly listens to ancient human recordings, his prized possession being a Queen cd he found in a car.

Neo 3′s Salmon run shifts are a huge part of his family’s income, but it drives a wedge between him and his sister. She was always taught to respect salmonids, and under no circumstances interact with them. She has deep suspicions about Grizzco’s effect on the salmonids, and was in shock when 3 so causally talked about his time in Alterna. She also believes Grizzco takes advantage of kids who don’t know any better, placing them in dangerous working conditions and having locations next to turf lobbies. You can imagine her reaction when 3 brought home Little Buddy one day. She is very protective of 3, and tries to convince him to focus on school instead of taking shifts.

I want to give them a story, but other than a vague idea of them trying to go deeper into the shady parts of Grizzco I have NO idea where to go lol.
