Okay but like,, Sometimes female villains in Indian soap operas are.. so fine???
These writers and directors make a character that is an independent, mean, arrogant woman who wears sleeveless blouses, net sarees and dark lipstick. AND then expect me to not fall in love with her??? Aise kaise bc-
One of my fav things about Thai BLs is that there's always one episode where they send the characters to a temple no matter the genre of the show
Kinda like how Indian soap operas have a mandatory episode where there is a temple visit and divine intervention which helps the main lead overcome a problem
I like how Indian and Thai cultures overlap in places
not to burst anyone's fucking bubble, but people really need to understand that the barbie movie is a fucking toy advert, and NOT a way to 'prove' that the doll was a feminist icon that was misunderstood. barbie did serious fucking damage to children's psyche and promoted unhealthy habits.
i love that movie, and i love it more for irritating right wing incels, but mattel produced this movie and you should take the message with at least a grain of salt.
Why are the male leads in Indian Soap Operas getting increasingly toxic and female leads increasingly annoying? Like why? And why do my grandparents watch it? Why do TEENAGERS watch it? Why? WHY?
The events following the end of AC1 to Altaïr’s death in Revelations except it’s an overdramatic historical soap opera feat. slow motion scenes, dramatic music, zoom-ins, internal monologues, and so many fucking transitions
Yaar tum logon ko ajeeb nhi lagta kaise anupamaa mein humaari pyaari anupamaa ji ko chhodkar almost har ek female character ko kam se kam ek sexist trait diya hai?
Man this last class i had today really made me think about how devalued brazilian culture is by it's own people, like here at college whenever i talk to my classmates about things they like or what they've been watching is always some western show or asian series, i haven't seen a single person around my age list some Brazilian telenovela/soap opera as something they actively watch or enjoy and that's just really sad to me because i think those are a staple of our culture and nowadays it really feels like it's something only the older generation cares about because it's so hard to find younger people who watch these.
I feel embarrassed saying i watch telenovelas every day to people because they just look at me like "woah, you watch those things?", is it that weird to watch something produced in the country you live in and by the people of our culture instead of something from the other side of the world?? And i shouldn't feel embarrassed to talk about how i love those shows but i just do because this stuff makes me feel like I'm detached from my own age group.
And I'm not saying it's wrong to enjoy things from other nations/cultures, if i did i would be a fucking hypocrite cuz a lot of the things i enjoy come from outside too, it's just that it really saddens me to see how many people here just don't care about the things produced in our own country or see them as lesser than outside ones because of the whole “The grass is greener on the other side” thing a majority of our population has.
Look not to be "You younglings have it easy" but everyone of those people wanting the Nuanced™ and Sensical™ Plot™ in the 2nd episode of the show would not have survived 90's/00's/10's cartoons
Dallas Liu playing Zuko’s morality coma is going to be the most dramatic performance to grace any screen ever. I want him spinning like this is an Indian soap opera, bring out the fainting couch, this is going to be epic.
