AND the give me your hand ...#like what was the reason for that moment. he said it so tenderly too ...#can only explain it this way: sunny felt bad after the whole kidnapping thing and wanted to comfort firoz using - once again! -#physical touch. that's their THING man :((#anyway i hashtag love them and all and the next eps only get more intense <3 #rahul.gif

when my mom was a kid in a really small southern Arizona town apparently one of her classmates had a birthday party and my mom and one other kid weren't invited. they were pretty upset and then on the next Monday apparently they were the only kids in the basically the whole school (tiny school essentially 1 room) because that girl's pet MONKEY gave everyone who went to the party RINGWORM.

#inSANE #also worth mentioning that in this tiny tiny town if anyone needed Xrays they had to share the only Xray machine in the area #with the only vet hospital in the area #they also didn't have a grocery store they had a mercantile #and a restaurant whose front entrance was a giant stucco steer head whose eyes would light up #my mom also moved to Pennsylvania later on and her classmates asked her if she lived in a teepee and if she knew #and i quote #how to speak indian #which as we all know is the singular indigenous language for the whole country #they also would visit AZ when they lived in PA and brought an extra suitcase just for tortillas bc wouldn't ya know it #you can't buy tortillas in 1960s Philadelphia

Read 'Train to Pakistan' a week ago and I don't know how to say this nicely but I was so excited for the book and was sorely disappointed reading it. The book has touched a sensitive issue of partition and my history self nerd would have loved to devour this topic. However the book failed to deliver in multiple aspects, the length of the book was quite short and it was unable to cover all the angles. There were glimpses where the words touched your soul and depicted the true horrors of partition- how it was just 'they are Muslims, they are Hindus'and that's all what mattered. The decision of partition might have taken place in Delhi but the repercussions of it went beyond the boundaries of state and time. It was a wayward slaughter, completely unplanned and unorganized, a big heap of bad judgement, simple mistakes and grave decisions. Forced evacuation on basis of religion that led to onslaught of feelings of revenge instead of sympthaty. People fled to a land they had no idea would be kind to them and in doing so multitudes died, raped, tortured, burned alive and drowned. The book shows glimpses of it everywhere but it's so scattered that the whole sense of it being pulled together between pages isn't there. The book however depicts the fact that impending death wasn't the only worry for people, there was so much more to life during the 1947 that screams horror and pain and communal anger. It covers a large aspect of people turning on each other and authorities failing to make any decision in fear of being killed for the same decisions. The book with the case of Juggat Singh is unable to cover the whole picture of partition and violence as it takes place, the ending is hollow with a cliffhanger for the reader to figure that the man is Juggat Singh. The identity of Iqbal whether it is Singh or Mohammed remains a mystery till the end and his talk of philosophical endings is much like him accepting his fate of death. Coming from a writer's perspective, perhaps the book wants to point out that the cliffhanger is just an equivalent reminder that anything could have happened with the people of Mano Majra and it is upto the readers to decide.

The line 'The fact is, both sides killed. Both shot and stabbed and speared and clubbed. Both tortured. Both raped.' Captures out the reality of the situation in right words.

My dad and uncle keep looking at properties in rural Ontario and striaght up I would rather fuckin die. When I said I hated the suburbs this si NOT what I mean. I want walkable small cities. Lots of local arts and restaurants. Tons of green spaces. Community gardens. Culture and libraries and things to do. I've BEEN to the town they keep looking at and there isn't even a public library. It's entirely white people and majority super conservative. I can't get any good food there. No where to shop. My university had SIGNIFICANTLY more students than the entire population of the area. What the fuck what the fuck

I know I will not be moving and this is probably just them talking shit but like. Stop shoving it in my face esp when I'm visibly uncomfortable and asked them to stop forcing me to discuss it. I want walkable small cities where I can grow some vegetables and go to local productions. Not....that. I'm already beyond isolated and you want me to go to a place like that??? It may be good for some ppl, not for me. I can barely last a week in my dad's town without wanting to kill someone.

This is so stupid but I walked in the door after work already worn out and upset despite getting off early on Friday for summer hrs and they were like. Surprise. Do this. We're serious. I'm too tired for this

also the feeling of winning a politically based argument with my dad is soooo fucking good

#talking about bitchass sunak and how he's proposed a £5-10 fee for if u wanna go to the doctors #and i am EXTREMELY against that shit #the nhs is free for a fucking reason. nobody should have to drop a single PENNY to be able to live #anyway i said that (without the swears) and he started to tell me why actually it would “reduce nhs strain!!” cuz apparently ppl just go to #the hospital to “get out of the cold”#and then i said but dad you see how that's entirely another problem. to solve that problem you fix the cold ???????#(ie. drop heating bills. like come ON it doesn't take a 200IQ to figure that out)#at this point he walks outta the room and closes the door. reopens the door upon me yelling that he was avoiding saying im right #then he comes back and tells me (very patronisingly) that coming out of the cold means just coming into hospital with unnecessary problems #to which i said well i have not heard of anyone doing that (we are indian and won't go to the doctor unless like. we are fucking dying)#and he says you'll be surprised... and i was like ok. i bet its just ppl who are lonely. which again !! another problem entirely !!#and i said well putting the fee in place won't actually stop that. ppl who are lonely will keep being lonely #and maybe we'll see an increase in elderly suicides. or more reports of houses that people just stop coming out of #or MAYBE we'll start hearing reports of ppl who die of entirely treatable diseases and illnesses cuz they couldn't afford to go #or were in the middle of choosing between food for their kids and heating one (1) room and decided fuck it this recurring stomach ache #might just be menopause or whatever the fuck. i goes to my dad people play down symptoms all the TIME #and it starts from youth !!! from school !! we are told if u have a headache or a stomach ache just come in ^_^ its better than missing !!#like wtf. what kind of shit system is that. it feels horrible to come to school when people are very clearly ill #you deserve to be resting not suffering through a whole day in pain & not able to breathe & honestly u don't learn shit on those days #didn't tell my dad that. but. he responds by saying there's ppl whove said that stuff like milk bread eggs should be free. and i said yea #and bathroom products. by which i mean toilet paper and pads and tampons #and he was clearly expecting me to disagree with this because he said um ok. well yeah ! exactly #mans changed his tone SO fast once he figured out he was not winning this. it felt so good #i love being a semi adult in this household where despite always being treated like one not actually having the opinions to feel like one #anyway thats my storytime. moral of the story is basic necessities should be free. full stop
