also another thing to point out in my “saying sasha would have been a better archivist than jon and would have avoided all the pitfalls that ultimately led to all the bad things and eventually the mass ritual is a stupid take” saga, sasha actually kinda seems to both like and trust elias. and definitely is more willing to express it than jonathan ‘prickly’ sims, so whereas jon was doing his thing in a combination of curiosity, manipulations, and paranoia, sasha would probably be just as curious, just as manipulated by unseen forces (considering that NO ONE saw what was coming), and rather than paranoia, just being more willing to trust in elias’s help than most and follow his guidance, especially if there was never any leitner murder that ultimately made elias reveal himself sooner than he might have liked.

i'm literally sitting here trying to figure out what EVEN i can SAY about aspec rayllum here? i think about them and i want to combust into heart emojis. i watched the first season when it first came out and then only happened to catch up last year with my qpp, and in between i was like. so infuriated when i found out they'd made rayla and callum a thing bc i - naturally - latched onto the green and purple character as an aroace icon at 18 years old, and my partner was like "no no no no TRUST me you've got to watch it, you'll love it"
they weren't wrong and after bingeing the whole show i'm stuck thinking about rayllum a LOT. they're written so much like my own ideal relationship that i kind of want to explode from it sometimes. anyway, my absolute favorite thing about them is how much emphasis there is about their friendship - to the point that when i watched season four, I can't remember which episode specifically it was number wise but when rayla suggested splitting up and offered to go with callum and he turns her down, my first immediate heartbroken thought was "she misses her best friend..." i just love how they're in love but they're in love cos they're best friends....11/10 no notes i need more relationships like that in media
ANYWAY long rambley ask about my loves aside, my question is what are some of your favorite moments where rayllum are so clearly best friends/goofballs in love?
No like honest to god though — me and the Rayla to my Callum are also in a QPR + dash of romance relationship and like... arc 1 and arc 2 Rayllum are just so goddamn sweet??
I don't agree generally that arc 2 Rayllum is more Mature™ than arc 1 rayllum — Callum is more patient and Rayla is more open, so they've matured as individuals — but merely just that they're different flavours of aspec-ness. Like arc 1 is the craziness and rollercoaster of meeting a stranger and realizing they're Your Person, and arc 2 is the deepness after the fact of "I know you, and I know that we can get through everyone so long as we have each other" mostly cause I think the main reason people label arc 1 Rayllum as more immature is because s3 Rayllum gushes over each other, but that's bc people have a hard time conceptualizing having deep admiration for your partner(s) that isn't infatuation... even though like? It's totally normal and welcome, like any long term relationship is "my partner is the most amazing person ever and i'm also very aware of all their flaws simultaneously" and like, arc 1 Rayllum hits that balance perfectly imo
I just love all of their stages and sides to them so so much
But yeah! Some of my fave moments Rayllum wise for the Best Friends quality has to be when they help each other up in 3x05 (Callum after the soulfang chase and Rayla on the ambler) because things are Weird but they're still always going to help each other? The "I missed my best friend" quality in s4 with no one laughing at Callum's jokes / talking about magic with him (vs their first scene in 5x01 being him telling her all about the magic stuff he's reading) and Rayla keeping her disappointment at bay always hits hard and I loove 4x06 when she's beating herself up and he takes care of her because a Good Relationship isn't about how you treat each other when everything's fine, it's 100% about how treat each other when life is hard/stressful and/or you're upset with each other
But I love all the gentle teasing in early S5 and the fist bump lives in my head eternally rent free. The 2x03 hug also means a lot to me cause that was the turning point she went from being a friend to being family and I think in a lot of ways, that's their relationship's most important turning point alongside maybe 1x06 (trusting her anyway!) 4x09 (forgiveness) and 5x04 (her opening up).
5x02 post-inn and stargazing scene are also faves just because of how happy they are talking about Nothing and everything, and like — that's just so fucking real, y'know? When someone makes everything automatically better just by being there
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As Callum says, "We've been through a lot, and a lot has changed. Well, some things have changed, but not everything," and this never will

Hi! Where is it said that Derek wasn't in BH for his senior year? I've seen this a lot, but I can't remember it from canon. Love your posts in the Sterek tag, good discussions!
oh my sweet summer child. teen wolf never tells you these things explicitly so on this episode of heather versus the teen wolf timeline we'll be discussing derek hale's age.
Tumblr media
derek was very much 16 when the fire happened. i do not understand how people think he was older.
the parallels between derek and scott are very, very obvious and pointed. one of the big reasons scott and derek clash in season 1 is because derek has a difficult time seeing scott as scott. he projects a lot of his anger at his younger self onto scott.
like code breaker pretty much confirms this:
"you're not in love, scott! you're sixteen years old! you're a child!"
you just know derek wishes he could go back to tell his 16 year old self this. kate and her actions weren't his fault but derek cannot let go of the shame and guilt at this point. he isn't there yet.
i think another thing that makes it obvious derek was 16 when kate got her claws into him is bringing ian nelson back for s4.
visionary is again heavy on the parallels between scott and derek. we understand that derek is a child here. he's a high schooler. so kate de-aging derek to the age where he'd trust her? the implications couldn't be more clear. the audience is meant to associate ian nelson with high schooler derek.
in magic bullet derek tells scott: "six years ago, my sister and i were at school, and our house caught fire."
wolf moon takes place in janurary 2011 so six years previous puts the hale fire occurring in roughly late 2004/early 2005. i personally go with early 2005.
stiles's obsession with the hale fire/derek also makes sense if it occurred after claudia's death claudia died in early 2004 shortly before his 9th birthday. this would've been an event that captured his attention for multiple reasons.
derek's quote from magic bullet also informs us laura was still in school. some argue he means college or something which i don't believe. derek couldn't have graduated before laura.
i think laura was a senior and derek was still a sophomore and that this took place only months after paige's death and his grief was taken advantage of by kate.
laura didn't know what happened or who was after them. she took her little brother and fucking ran as far away as possible only returning 3 months before wolf moon to investigate.
i think kate was sent to beacon hills by gerard to look into paige's suspicious death because he had been in town when it happened along with the three other packs.
remember he attacked duecalion and was clearly aware of kali and ennis too. he knows they killed one of ennis's pack members brutally and being the smart, devious man he is might have put the math together like peter did. teenagers are perfect candidates for the bite and ennis had just lost one and than an otherwise healthy girl dies in suspicious animal attack at the same time a bunch of alphas were the same place?
remember what kate says in code breaker when confronted by chris?
"i did what I was told to do."
kate was following gerard's orders.
in conclusion though, derek didn't graduate from beacon hills high school as he and laura had left by then so those aren't his initials.
stiles is just sentimental and missing derek so he gets gooey at seeing the same initials.

Halt and Catch Fire is the best show ever and you should watch it if you haven't.
It has amazingly deep and three-dimensional and tender characterizations and a plot that's structured kind of like a spiral, in that you observe the characters over the course of ten years where they keep ending up in similar situations and you can see how much they have or haven't grown since the last time they had to face a similar thing.
It gives you a new appreciation for the wild west days of IT of the 1980s and 1990s, which is something I keep seeing people mention but have actually never experienced on my own unless you count searching for pictures of the W.i.t.c.h. on dial-up and playing some kind of pop the bubble game in 1999.
It has amazing female characters that aren't perfect but also don't have flaws that are sexist stereotypes. The two female leads are an angry punk girl and a hyperfeminine Southern girl and they are both presented as equally competent and given equal importance, even though the hyperfeminine girl gets underestimated a lot in-universe (she has a STEM degree and is as good with computers as the other one, but gets relegated into a "team mum" role a lot).
There is A LOT of focus on friendships and business partnerships and found family - it gives these relationships equal focus to the romances, and they are all realistic and grounded in the characterizations of the leads. In fact, the last episode focuses on the two girls' partnership, not their respective romantic lives. But the romances are amazing too, I have never been invested in a pair so hard the way I currently am in Joe and Cameron, if I weren't bi already they'd be my bisexual awakening. They seem like total opposites but have so, so, many parallels between them, and they have realistically sad backstories that aren't the stock "I was beaten by my mean dad" type. And they have amazing chemistry. And I love how the show is aware of the fact that they need to go outside of their relationship to grow and address their shortcomings because they kind of have the same flaws too, and even though they're still kind of pining after each other they only come back to each other when they're capable of having a stable relationship. This is especially good beacuse the girl is in her early 20s at the beginning and it was so so good to see the show let her grow into her own, on her own, rather than leaving her stuck in an endless back-and-forth with a messed up guy who's her boss and 10 years older than her, but then also respecting the connection they have.
All the characters are realistically flawed, and their flaws come back to bite them in their asses in the end, and the setups for this are strewn across several seasons. And it all makes sense for the character as a whole - for example, the punk girl is rebelling against pretty controlling parenting, but she obviously never learned how to handle relationships except in terms of the dominant person and the one who obeys, so she'd rather live in anarchy and never form any kind of power ladder in the first place. However, when she is forced to do so in order to handle the people who work for her punk IT startup she becomes very autocratic and controlling, and when people try to give her ideas she replies with, "Well, I'm the boss so we'll do what I say."
Why does she do that? Because she obviously doesn't know how to argue constructively. She knows how to a) aggressively overwhelm you, b) get up and leave (as she did to her family) and c) submit (unacceptable).
She does b) to her smarmy yuppie "it's complicated" man who is also one of the main leads - he does something to break her trust, she just abandons him and that's it. But then she gets into a fight with her next boyfriend, and she just assumes that that's it, and he says, "Woah, we're not breaking up, we're just arguing, have you never done that before in your life?"
At the same time, she forms a partnership with the girly girl and the girly girl starts just going around her whenever she hears the "I'm the boss so we'll do as I say" thing because she's frustrated that she has no say in things. This leads to several fallouts because spiral plot structure, and they're all mostly over one of two things: Cameron (punk girl) is being autocratic or Donna (girly girl) is being manipulative. Eventually they run the company into the ground because they can't listen to each other, and the plot always varies which one of them is right and never paints one of them as the 100% villain because they're both being kind of assholes but also deeply sympathetic.. But over the course of all this Cameron kind of learns how to be more functional in her partnerships, which then helps her with both her love interests AND her career. And then other things happen to address and highlight other flaws of hers, and this happens to all of the characters - three marriages fall apart in the course of this show, several companies with really good ideas are run into the ground and a guy commits crimes and then commits suicide because he bought into a Steve Jobs-type bulshitter's cool aid too much.
It has what I'd call great queer rep because one of the leads being a bisexual man is treated very casually and yet the rare instances where homophobia is touched on fit into the rest of his character and backstory so well (he insults a homophobic business partner at some point, and he also has an AIDS scare, and he recalls being bullied at school and how it affected him, and he makes friends with a queer teen because he notices she's like him and that's it). Like, there's an episode where his ex boyfriend comes into the picture and the plot doesn't revolve around them both being men - the plot revolves around his current girlfriend feeling insecure about the guy still having feelings for his ex and coming off as flaky and untrustworthy. The genders of the characters are incidental.
Like seriously this is the best show ever and I don't know why people don't talk about it more, current stuff like The Bear and Succession can only wish to be this nuanced.

5 times Wrecker protected his siblings and 5 times they protected him: Chapter 3
During an ambush, Wrecker shields Omega from a flamethrower.
--
Content warning: Burns
This one is set around early season 2.
Read on Ao3
At first, Hunter had thought they were bounty hunters, come to take Omega. They'd tried to ambush the batch on their way back to the Marauder. Hunter had to admit, their assailants had done a good job at moving through the surrounding trees quietly. Although not nearly quiet enough for Hunter not to hear them.
He'd alerted his vode of the attack long before it happened, removing every advantage from their opponents. They outnumbered the clones. Hunter counted ten of them. They'd survived worse odds.
Their numbers should have tipped Hunter off to the fact that they're not bounty hunters. They rarely travel in such large groups. A bounty isn't all that impressive if you have to split it by double digits.
Their weapons and armor weren't anything special, mismatched and beat up looking.
Hunter already took one of their attackers down with a well timed blaster shot to the abdomen, and is fighting another off with his vibro-knife when he hears it. The hiss and click of a flamethrower igniting across the battlefield. His eyes flick to the source as he takes his opponent down with a swift jab to the neck. Dread grips Hunter like a vice.
Omega, back turned, concentrated on aiming her energy bow, is the flamethrower wielding attackers target.
That proves that they can't be bounty hunters. To collect the money, Omega is needed alive.
The only thought in Hunters head is: She's going to die.
He's too far away to get to her. Hunter yells Omegas name, sprints in her direction, aims his blaster at the attacker. Another opponent steps between him and Omega before he can shoot. He's too far away. Omega looks at him. She doesn't look at the enemy behind her. Hunter slams his shoulder into his opponent, tries to take aim again. He's too far away.
The flash of the flames bursting forth is bright enough to hurt Hunters eyes through his visor. He thinks he's going to be sick.
Echo kills the owner of the flamethrower. Hunter yells Omegas name again, still sprinting to where he last saw her, where the last of the stream of fire is disappearing. She's going to die.
Hunters heart almost stops for the second time that fight.
Omega's standing there, skin intact, not blistered and peeling, not writhing on the ground in pain. A look of horror paints her face, not aimed at Hunter, at Wrecker. Wrecker shielded her.
He's fallen to his knees in front of her, and going by the way he's swaying, he won't be staying upright long. Omega's already got her hands on his shoulders, trying to keep him from falling forward. Hunter crouches down to aid Omega in her efforts, well aware that two of their attackers are still fighting, but trusting Tech and Echo to be able to handle them.
The lingering smell of fuel and fire overwhelm Hunters senses, but the chemical scent of melted synthetic fibre and burnt flesh is far more intense. While it's hard to tell the extent of the damage, Hunter wages he can take an educated guess. Going off of the smell, how out of it Wrecker seems and the fact that even Katarn-class armor, fire resistant to a degree, isn't meant to be blasted with it head-on, the sight under that backplate isn't going to be a pretty one.
“Still with us Wrecker?” asks Hunter, putting a hand on Wreckers arm.
“Yeah, yeah.” Wrecker responds, sounding unfocused, nodding weakly. He tries to stand up before Hunter can stop him, but doesn't get far. The leg he does manage to get under himself immediately buckles, landing him right back where he started.
In the end, it takes both him and Tech to get Wrecker up. In no condition to walk without falling face down in the dirt, Tech and Hunter end up dragging him, each of them under one arm. Wrecker tries to help by carrying some of his own weight, eventually giving up as his uncoordinated steps can't keep up with the others speed. Echo walks nearby in case he needs to step in.
On the way back to the Marauder, Tech fills most of the silence, theorizing that their assailants might have planned to rob them once they were dead. Both Hunter and Echo contribute to the conversation occasionally, Wrecker only contributing in the form of nods and groans. Omega doesn't say a single word the entire way back.
Getting Wrecker up into the Marauder takes a lot longer than it should, the large clones boots catching on the steps multiple times.
“If we put him on the lowest sleeping rack, we should have enough place to work.” Hunter says.
“Well we're not putting him on the floor we just tracked dirt all over.” Tech scoffs.
Taking that as a yes, they move Wrecker to the wall mounted bed. Grabbing Wreckers legs, Echo does most of the heavy lifting. When their brother is situated, Omega sits on the floor, taking Wreckers hand in her own. Whilst Tech gathers what he needs and Echo pulls Wreckers helmet off, Hunter lets her do just that, knowing full well he's going to have to stop her sooner rather than later. The risk of Wrecker instinctively clenching his hand while being treated and hurting Omega is too high. A risk Wrecker would never want to take.
Sweat coats Wreckers skin underneath the helmet, his eyebrows draw tightly together and his jaw looking painfully clenched. Some fire had managed to snake its way between his helmet and backplate, glueing Wreckers bodysuit to the unarmored skin there. Hunter finally gets a better look at Wrecker back from where he's standing. From Echo's place sitting near Wreckers head he must be seeing the extent of the damage too. The worried look on Echo's face betrays as much.
Wrecker's more exposed lower back and sides don't look good, blistered skin showing its self in spots the fabric's been entirely destroyed. The back of his upper arms show similar amounts of damage. Seeing his kih'vod like this makes an unpleasant sensation settle in Hunters stomach. If he'd been more alert, Hunter could have stopped this from happening at all.
When Tech returns, Hunter crouches down next to Omega.
“Could you let go?” Hunter asks softly. She doesn't ignore him as much as she doesn't seem to register his presence at all. That same horrified expression still plasters Omegas face. “Please, Omega.” Hunter attempts again, trying and carefully pull her hands from where they're clasped around Wreckers. “I don't want you to get hurt.”
She lets go, even stands up and moves a few steps away to stand near Echo. Hunter isn't sure she heard a word he said to her.
The first thing Tech does is give Wrecker a dose of painkillers. How little he reacts to the hypo concerns Hunter, the look he shares with Echo and Tech confirms they feel the same. Wrecker is a difficult patient on the best of days, never quite comfortable around medical equipment, always trying to refuse or dodge attempted help. At the least, he'd complain.
The quiet groans and squirming, seemingly more at his neck being touched than the needle, are unnerving. It's not the first time Hunter's seen this behaviour from Wrecker, none of those incidences being good, almost all ending with Wrecker in a bacta tank. That's not an option available to them any more.
Whilst Tech utilizes the med scanner, Hunter and Echo remove the armor on Wreckers arms that hasn't been damaged by fire. Tech hums when the scan is complete.
“The combination of your backplate and fireproof pack kept a portion of your upper back safe from serious harm. You'll be glad to hear that non of the damage sustained goes past second-degree. However, the second-degree burns sustained are extensive. A large percentage of your lower back, flanks, upper arms and neck are affected, as well as more superficial burns in-between and around those areas. The skin around the edges of your backplate is also badly burned, leading me to believe that we will be experiencing some issues in its removal.” says Tech, eyes focused on the scanner. Wrecker nods weakly.
“What about removing the molten fabric?” Echo asks. “I'd like to get bacta and bandages on this as fast as possible.” Echo pulls a face, placing a hand on an uninjured spot on Wreckers shoulder. Hunter knows Echo's no stranger to bad burns, even if at the time, the loss of limbs most likely overshadowed them.
“I agree. The fabric seems to have melted into large pieces, so removing them will hopefully not waste too much time.” Tech says.
“'s'not that bad.” Wrecker mumbles. Not very convincing when his expression is pinched with pain as it is. Hunter guesses the statement isn't meant to reassure his brothers, but Omega.
Removing the rest of Wreckers upper body armor and pack is uneventful, except for the backplate. As Tech had predicted, the layer of molten synthetic fibre between the plate and Wreckers skin have caused it to stick. Wearing sterile gloves, Tech tries to ease it off, but it's not a simple job.
For a start, as soon as Techs hands make contact with the edge of the armor piece, Wrecker gets his arms underneath himself and started trying to sit up and pull away, vehemently protesting. It takes all three of them to get him to lie down again.
In addition to that, the angle Tech has to work at is less than ideal. Unwilling to risk further damage to Wreckers skin, he's forced to awkwardly lean over the sleeping rack to get a good grip on the backplate.
The combined effort of Hunter almost laying on top of Wreckers legs to keep him from unintentionally kicking someone and Echo keeping his hand steadily on Wreckers shoulder and calmly reminding him to try and keep still stop Wrecker from moving all too much when Tech gets half of the backplate unstuck in one go.
That's the first time Wrecker screams. With one hand, he's got a tight grip on the edge of the bed, the other arm is used to try and muffle the noise. Hunter much prefers him letting it out, rather than ending up biting off his tongue.
That's also when Omega leaves her spot next to Echo, moving to climb up to the tail gun and sit behind the curtain there, clearly still watching them from behind the separating cloth.
The second half of the backplate comes off same as the first. Some of the skin does come off with the plate. Hunter can tell Tech's mentally kicking himself about it as he drops the piece of armor to the floor. A layer of bacta spray is applied to the freshly opened wounds, and Tech and Echo start the tedious job of peeling molten fabric off of blistered skin.
“I'll get the ship on the way to Ord Mantell.” Hunter says, standing up. Wreckers stopped moving as much, most likely too tired to, so Hunter will find something else useful to do.
“Don't crash the ship.” Tech says, voice flat.
He doesn't crash the Havoc Marauder, getting it into hyperspace safely. The entire time, he can hear Wreckers pained noises from across the ship. Hunter's convinced he could hear them even if he didn't have enhanced senses.
By the time Hunter returns to the back of the Marauder, Tech and Echo have made good progress.
“All good here?” Hunter asks, taking in the newly exposed skin by leaning over Techs shoulder. The smell of burnt skin hitting him is just as intense as it was the first time.
“All good.” Wrecker answers unsteadily, face still pressed against his forearm. He sounds close to tears.
“Good isn't the word I'd use.” Tech says, hint of frustration in his voice. Hunter has a feeling him and Tech are both going to have migraines later.
Quicker than Tech can stop him, Wreckers pulled his arm out of Tech's grip to weakly swing it at Hunter to get his attention.
“Check on Omega.” Wrecker says, waving his arm in the general direction of the tail gun. Somehow, he sounds more worried than he does pained. Hunter nods, patting Wrecker on the shoulder in a hopefully comforting manner.
Hunter's gotten better at not talking to Omega like he'd talk to a soldier. He thinks so at least. There's nothing he can compare it to.
“Omega?” He approaches the gap in the curtain. Omega sits there hunched, knees draw to her chest. She's hugging Lula tightly. Her eyes suddenly snap to look at Hunter, although the unfocused look in them persists. “Everything alright?”
Omega nods listlessly and goes back to watching Tech and Echo work. Hunter sighs. Something's clearly wrong, he's just not sure what he can say to help solve it.
“You know this isn't your fault, right?” He tries after a short pause. The look on Omegas face as she abruptly turns to look at Hunter tells him he got it right.
“How is this not my fault? He could have dodged the attack. Wrecker wouldn't be hurt if he didn't have to save me.” The longer she talks, the closer she sounds to tears. Ah, kriff, Hunter hadn't wanted to make her cry.
“It's okay Omega.” He tries to sound calm, comforting. It seems to have the opposite effect as tears spill across Omegas face.
“It's not!” She exclaims through a sob. As if on cue, a particularly agonized yell comes from Wrecker. At that, Omega turns away from the scene and from Hunter, pressing her back up against the wall and burying her face in Lula. The way she does this, hiding her face in the tooka doll as she sobs, greatly reminds Hunter of how Wrecker would curl up with Lula after a nightmare or intense training session.
So Hunter decides to do what always worked for Wrecker. He climbs up the ladder leading to the tail gun, sits next to Omega and carefully pulls her into a hug. As soon as Hunter's done this, Omega launches herself at him, pressing her face into his shoulder.
“He's been doing this for a long time Omega, putting himself in harms way for us. Practically since he got out of the tube.” That gets her attention. Tears are still streaming down her cheeks as she looks at Hunter, but she's listening. “We all make mistakes on the battlefield, that's when we need to look out for each other. That's what your squad is for.”
Omega wipes her face on her sleeve. “You really don't think it's my fault?”
“It's not your fault, ad'ika.”
“I've never heard someone scream like that.” Omega whispers after a while, voice cracking from the persistent tears. Hunter doesn't know what to say to that. He hadn't even thought of that. So he just holds her a little tighter.
They sit in relative silence until commotion from below draws Hunters attention. Wrecker's trying to sit up again, offended at something Tech did.
“Ow! Watch it, that kriffing hurts!” The fact that Wrecker's complaining does calm Hunters nerves a little, although it's most likely only because the painkillers are taking the edge off just enough for him to feel up to doing so.
“There's no point in using bacta patches if they don't stay were they're supposed to. You're just going to have to hold still and let us apply them correctly.” Tech says. Wrecker thinks for a moment, than sighs.
“Fine.” he huffs and complies.
Hunter descends the ladder, followed closely by Omega. She makes her way back to Echos side, whilst Hunter asks if there's anything he can do to help.
“You could clear some of this mess away.” Echo answers. Wreckers armor is haphazardly scattered across the floor, so Hunter collects it and places it relatively neatly to one side. He also discards the ruined tatters of Wreckers bodysuit, happy to be rid of the chemical smell coming off of the scraps. The smell of burnt flesh lingers.
Whilst he does that, Tech and Echo finish up tending to Wrecker, covering the worst of the burns with bacta patches, everything else with bacta spray, then bandaging the area. Wrecker voices his discomfort a few more times, mostly though pained groans, but his expression relaxes considerably once he starts to feel the effect of the bacta. Omega watches the whole process attentively.
Later, Hunter, Tech and Echo discuss how to proceed, that they're going to have to wake Wrecker every few hours to keep him hydrated and administer more pain medication. They discuss worst and best case scenarios, the amount of medical supplies they're going to need, how long it'll take for Wrecker to be well enough to contribute to missions again.
The whole thing gives Hunter a headache. He still volunteers to be the first to keep an eye on Wrecker.
Wreckers out cold when Hunter arrives at the back of the Marauder, and so is Omega. She's brought a blanket down from her room and has fallen asleep wrapped in it sitting on the floor next to Wrecker. Lula has been propped up on one side of Wreckers head, Omega's trooper doll on the other.
Hunter smiles to himself as he sits down for his watch, already feeling bad for having to wake his kih'vod in the near future.
--
Wrecker pushes himself into a sitting position with a groan, trying to stay quiet enough not to alert anyone.
Echo's sleeping in the top bunk, the middle one has been left free to leave Wrecker enough space to move. That means Hunter and Tech are in the cockpit, one of them most likely awake. Probably Tech, Wrecker thinks with a hint of amusement.
It's been five days since Wrecker got himself injured. A complicated and stressful five days. His brothers have been running themselves ragged trying to obtain enough medical supplies to keep Wrecker's condition from worsening, whilst still keeping the team fed and not falling behind on Cids fees. All the while, Wrecker's been entirely useless.
Not that Wrecker would do anything any different if he was faced with the same situation again. He'd never risk Omega's health, even if not doing so ends up with an extremely stressful period of time for his brothers. Wrecker's sure they'd agree.
There's nothing he could have done different. He'd still have gotten burned if he'd tackled her, not that Wrecker could have done that in the first place due to the obvious issue of him being so much heavier than their sister. And he didn't want to risk picking her up to get her out of harms way. What if he moved wrong, ended up with her right back in the flames path?
No, fully blocking the fire was the best option. Doesn't make Wrecker hate being a burden any less though.
Gingerly, Wrecker stands up. He needs to drink something and there's no way he's waking Echo up just to ask for water. He has two perfectly good legs to get it himself, and it's not like Wrecker can sleep right now anyway. The dosage of painkillers he'd been given earlier has long since worn off. Either Hunter or Tech are probably awake, and neither of them would deny Wrecker pain relief if he requested it.
Wrecker's not going to ask for any. All he's been doing lately is lay about. A sleepless night isn't going to change anything. Limiting his usage of medical supplies is a lot more important. Wrecker's toughed out worse. He's toughed out worse without the aid of bacta, something he thankfully doesn't have to do this time. Lacking that mercy, the pain would likely be unbearable.
Though as he takes a step too fast, searing agony burning along his back as his skin pulls from the motion, Wrecker has a hard time remembering when last he's had an injury that's covered quite so much of his body. His breath catches and he clenches his jaw against the pain.
As the worst of it subsides, Wrecker just about catches the curtain in front of the tail gun moving. Looks like he's not the only one having a hard time sleeping. Either that, or Wrecker wasn't as quiet as he thought he was. Wrecker changes the direction he's heading in, instead stiffly walking his way towards Omega.
He carefully moves the curtain to the side a little. “Did I wake you?” Wrecker tries to whisper, still coming out louder than intended. He hates how tired he sounds. Omega, curled up on her side holding Lula, sits up a bit, shaking her head.
“I can't sleep.” There's frustration in her voice as well as her expression.
Wrecker sighs. “Me neither.”
Omega pulls a face. “Of course you can't.” She sounds a lot like Echo. Wrecker laughs softly.
“You have a point.”
Omega sits up fully, hugging Lula. She looks sad. It hurts to see her like this. Out of the two pains, Wrecker prefers the one from the burns. Careful of the bandages around his upper arm, Wrecker ruffles Omega's hair. “You good, 'mega?”
Squeezing Lula tighter, Omega sighs. “I wish I could do more to help.”
“You do plenty kid. Lot more than I'm doing.” Wrecker says with a laugh. Omega is less amused, eyes narrowing.
“You're not supposed to do anything. You're injured.” Her tone is warning.
“I know, I know.” Wrecker says, still laughing quietly. “It's just frustrating.”Omega seems to think for a moment, then pressed her hand to Wrecker's forehead.
“Please don't get an infection.” The sudden change of topic doesn't hit Wrecker nearly as hard as the genuine fear in Omegas expression does. Wrecker can't say he's entirely surprised by where she's coming from. Every change of bandages, every dose of painkillers, every pained groan Wrecker failed to suppress, Omega was immediately there, watching everyone involved closely and reciting wound care facts.
Wrecker takes the hand held against his forehead in his. “I won't.” It could be seen as a promise of something outside of Wreckers control, but the large clone is completely confident in the medical capability of his vode, even under the less than ideal circumstances.
“I'm sorry.” Omega says. Wrecker doesn't need to ask to know what she's apologizing for.
“You don't have to be, Omega. We've been over this.” Nothing any of them has said managed to get Omega to stop blaming herself, so Wrecker tries something different. “You know, Tech felt responsible for this.” he says, tapping the scar tissue wrapped around the side of his head. Omega's eyes widen in interest.
“Really?”
“Yeah. He was fussing 'bout my cybernetic eye and dodgy hearing constantly. Just like I told him then: People get hurt, you really don't have to apologize.” Wrecker pauses, observing Omega's expression. “'sides, I got a lot more skin to spare than you.” He ruffles Omega's hair again, this time so if falls forwards across her face.
“Hey!” She exclaims with a laugh, trying to keep her tone a whisper. “Enjoy being the biggest whilst you can.” She huffs as she tries to fix the mess Wreckers made of her hair, barely concealing her amusement behind annoyance.
Wrecker snorts. “You think you're gonna outgrow me?”
“I might.” Omega responds, fighting a grin spreading across her face. “You don't know that I won't”
“Then you've got a lot of catching up to do, ad'ika. I was twice your size at your age.”
“You never were my age. I'm older than you.” Wrecker can hear the grin in her voice.
“You know what I mean.” It's good to see Omega acting more like her usual self. She's been very withdrawn lately, stress getting to her just as much as the rest of them. Wreckers body sees fit to ruin the moment by remind him of his own issues with a spike of pain. Observant as Omega is, she notices the way Wrecker inhales sharply.
“You should be laying down.”
Wrecker sighs, nods in agreement, but hesitates. “You wouldn't mind coming down here and talking, would you? Neither of us are sleeping, and I could do with the company.” Wrecker runs his hand over his head, coming to rest at the bandage around his neck. “Can't promise I'll add much to the conversation though.” Omega responds with a vigorous nod and standing up before Wrecker's done talking.
Only when Wrecker's lowered himself back to the bunk does he remember why he initially got up. With a low hiss, equal parts pain and annoyance, Wrecker starts standing up again.
“What's wrong?” Omega asks. Even in the low light, Wrecker can see Omegas eyes flick about nervously.
“Could you get me some water?” A pang of guilt seeps into Wreckers chest. He shouldn't be asking his vode for things he could easily do if he pushed himself a little more.
“Yes, I can do that.” Omega says with such enthusiasm, Wrecker almost doesn't feel that bad about not pulling his weight this instant. She swiftly returns with a canteen of water, Wrecker accepts it with gratitude.
When Wrecker lays down, Omega settles on the floor near Wreckers head. Like the first night after Wrecker got burned, she's wrapped in a blanket and brought Lula and her trooper doll. Hushed as to not disturb Echo, Omega starts telling Wrecker about various things he'd missed through out the day. Apparently, Cid had to kick someone out of the bar for bad behaviour.
At some point during her stories, Omega starts holding one of Wreckers hands. Since the injury, it feels like Wrecker's vode have been almost scared to touch him. As if he might break if they do. Even the way Omega takes his hand in hers, motion so gentle and calculated. It's a pointless gesture, Wrecker not being someone that needs to be handled with care. It still makes his heart ache. Between that comfort and Omega talking softly, filling the silence, Wrecker's night stays sleepless, but restful. And that's really all he could have asked for.

Tumblr media
Seriously that you got a call early in the morning? You begrudgingly get up and do what you need to do, you call your neighbour that is usually awakened at this time and ask I'd she could look after your dog for certain periods, to which she agreed.
Arriving at the BAU, you meet the new agent, Agent Prentiss, you have heard this name once, nevermind.
The moment you saw what JJ was showing on the screen, you got it, you have watched plenty of sci-fi movies and action films, it was a biological weapon, but you said nothing since Prentiss started showing off her skills in Arabic, it surprised everyone, but Hotchner face didn't flinch a move.
Well, you know a couple of languages and you still learning in the middle of the night when you're alone while watching a TV show or film by making you company, however since Spencer's visits turned out to be oftentimes, you haven't progressed a lot. The new agent sees smart and hard-working, but as you can notice by her corporal movements, she wants approval.
Hotchner said that you would come with him and Morgan, letting Spencer, Gideon and Prentiss go for Guantanamo Bay. You were not happy, but he's the boss.
–So, see you later?-you say before Spencer left for the Airstrip.
– Yeah, I hope you'll come with us again soon, Gideon seemed not that happy when Hotchner told him that Prentiss would come with us.
– I hope he doesn't scare her.-yo usar playfully, but you're hurt, you weren't made to work in the actual camp, therefore it didn't matter anymore, Hotchner noticed that you could do well in both ways as well as Gideon noticed too, you remained calm and centred, even in the worst possibilities.
But what no one knows is when you come back home, what is inside your mind when you can't show what you want to do right after those awful cases that your team solved? An incoming headache is foreseen, soon or later it will come and you shall crumble.
In a glimpse of time Spencer saw your mien drop off, he stared at your defensive eyes.
– Is something bothering you?-he forgets about his shyness and touches your should, making you look at his face, and your cheeks start burning.
– Ehm... What? NO no no, nothing is bothering me, just I don't think what they're saying is the real issue, there's something more behind it.
– I know, wait.-he still staring at you.– What did you mean by something more? Do you think it's a...
– Spencer, five minutes ended! We're going now.-you give Spencer a weak smile.
– Go and be safe, see you.
– Same thing, be safe OK.
– I'll be, Morgan always says I'm a child so as a parental figure, he says he'll keep out of trouble, I mean, not getting myself harmed.
Spencer wanted to put you in safety, he'd like to come and let you safe, so nothing could harm you even when it wasn't his area.
–Spencer!
–If we don't catch up on time, you know when I'll meet you!-he quickly says before halting away from ye
–Go quickly!
.
–Bonnie Ryan
[...]
– Agent y/l/n.
[...]
– They must have done escape drills.-Hotchner walks away while Derek followed him, you stood still looking around if you could catch any missing points, then you follow their voices to a room where you saw the bio equipment, while Hotchner and Derek are describing the supposed unsub or gangsta and where they might attack.
–Any ideas y/l/n?-Hotchner suggest and you gestured with a more or less.– What do you think it is?
– Don't judge me in a bad way, but what if it is a bioterrorist weapon? I don't know what ingredients are inside but it doesn't seem just what we see on the surface.
The DEA agent is not happy, not with you of course, but with the statement, if it's a bioterrorist weapon, they must solve it quickly. Hotchner and Morgan said nothing until Morgan found a papel, a list filled with chemical components.
You snoop beside his body, not as subtle as he sees yet he let's you check.
Well, you forgot almost all chemistry classes you took while at school, it doesn't make any less dumb, but what you have just seen froze you.
When Morgan gets what Garcia told him, he first turns his head at you with a worried face, you were right, it wasn't a simple thing that you guys were putting your hands on.
– Are you sure? All right.
– What'd she say?
– Garcia says this looks like a list of additives needed to weaponize anthrax.-and you did it again, Hotchner's eyes are filled with panic even if his face stood as a
Inside the car with Hotchner and Morgan, you're paying attention to Hotch's phone call with JJ.
–[...] And notify Gideon and Reid.-you hear a small okay from JJ, Hotch look at Morgan and Morgan turns to you.
– Are you ready, kid?-your mind says no, yet your mouth betrayed you faster than a blink.
– Yeah, are we going now?
– Right now.-finishes Hotch.
When JJ warned the others about you going with 'em to seek this dangerous place, Reid's heart skipped a painful beat.
Inside the van of The Omega cell with all the right devices you searched along with Morgan for anything that could lead you to a clue, you stopped in your track muttering something under your breath, you felt panic through your veins, you touch Morgan's arm.
–What?
– This is a trap.-you alert with a muffled voice, but Morgan didn't hear you.
– What?
–This.is.a.trap.
– How do you...
[Guantanamo bay]
Reid changes glances between the screen and the unsub hands.
-Something's wrong. His hands.-he reports the man's behaviour.
[...]–Is that Hotch?-Gideon asks while hasting.
– What's the problem?
– Get everybody out of there. Now. NOW. Now.-Gideon demands.
–Everybody out! It's a trap. Now!
You glare in fear at Hotch orders, you just feel Morgan grabbing yoyourand as quickly as possible dragging you out with no problems, soon as you all get out of the container you feel your body being pushed away and a man screaming, but your hears are all buzzing here and there, your body felt weak with suddenly explosion and hot air while pieces from the container were all flying around near ye all, lucky you that Morgan was dragging you before any damage could be done.
The three of you were together when agent Ryan begins chatting, she's sad, you've lost a S.W.A.T member, why they couldn't listen to you for a second? If they heard you all of you would be alive. Morgan after Garcia calls off to apologise, you feel your eyes burning with anger and sadness, you could have done more, you should have screamed that it was a trap, but with your fear you just told Morgan, barely audible.
–[...] Not yet.-Hotch finished his talking with the DEA agent.
[...]
When Spencer and Prentiss heard what happened at Guantanamo, Spencer was all worried, his hands holding tightly a paper scrap. If Prentiss noticed? Yeah, but she choose silence, she knew, she can't just ask "Hey, are you okay? The girl what is she for you? You can call her and see if she's okay if you don't mind" out of nowhere since she met them less than a day.
– Are they okay? Is she okay?-Spencer asks Gideon when he turns off the phone, Gideon ignores the second question.
–we were right about the trap. It was rigged to explode. A SWAT agent died.
Spencer could finally breathe, unfortunately, you guys lost a swat agent, there's no word to describe a loss but since he didn't know whose the person was, he couldn't feel much.
[Break time]
You huffed stressed, when you arrived in BAU, and with no time you're dragged again inside the car with Hotch and Morgan, really? On the back/rear seat again?
– Thank you. We just got a lead
–So we did get a name?-you ask with hope.
–And an address.-Morgan complete.
After the FBI agents get out of that house, they explained what they saw, you just could feel your stomach churn in despair, we're too late.
As you thought, you three come back inside the car.
[...]
Shopping scene.
Your heart was racing when you start running heading towards the security room with Hotch.
You saw how stressed Hotchner was when he reported the men's localisation to Morgan, the minute after this you tried to calm down Hotchner which you did a great job, affirming that his wife probably cancelled the photography shoot with his son, because, according to you, she'd like to do it with her family together.
– Thank you kid, it was such a stressful day.
– A stressful case Sir.-you cross your arms breathing.–Gladly our team were able to finish 'em, you can go back home and hug your family.-he returns you with a soft yet weak smile, that man need a good sleep.
– I'll make sure to listen to you more, Morgan told me you, the minutes before the explosion that you have warned him that something was oddly and all the cases before it too.
– Thanks sir, but now, what do we do now?
– We should head home kid.
[...]
I'm an adult, geez, why do they call me kid or child!
–Nala, do you think Am I a kid?-she barked, you felt a pang into your heart.-No no Nala, mommy is an adult woman, right?-the dog hides it's face under its paws, you just stare at her.
You cannot believe, your own dog getting doctrinesed against you.
–What a meanie.
The day was stressful and you needed a good nap after a good warm shower and Spencer couldn't show up, since they arrived late that day, he didn't mean to bother you.
[...]
SEX, BIRTH, DEATH
Spencer is in a hurry while drawing a boy profile on his notebook, he almost bump in JJ, his hands were moving as the flash as it could possibly do, he picked up the phone talking with someone, minutes before it you were talking with Gideon when you saw your friend agitated.
– What's popping?-you cheerfully ask, but when he answers you weren't spectating for it.– Okay I'm out of this case.
– Oh no, you will come.-Spencer says.-Right, Gideon?-the confidence in Spence eyes made Gideon only nod, he never saw it, not even when playing chess.-Told you.
You two hastens away from them, and Gideon gives a forth look at you both and back then at JJ.
– What's happening between these two?
– I don't know Sir, as far as I know, they're friends with odds way in demonstrating it.
– Friends... I see, if you say, I don't mind, is not my business anyway, call Hotch and tell him he should come with us to the dead-house.
[...]
Oh my J. Why are you there staring at a woman dead body? ok, you knew ehy you were here, because a special lad dragged against your will, but why they needed you in this case? Dummy girl, you thought to  yourself, 'because you're part of their team'
Hence, as you can see, complaining wouldn't help much, wake up and start working, you noticed the woman body and if Spencer is 100% right, the boy that had done it is mad mad, could only be a boy in a sophomore year or a first year university student, but your money's is on the first option, yet your guts don't lie, there's something odd.
While you were heading back to BAU, you complained.
– Why you needed me?
– Because yes, and besides this poor affirmation, did you noticed something?
– We will need to see Garcia and check up, but I bet the boy you met is a horny boy with a wretched mind, but my guess is, he's might be a sophomore year student.
– Okay, but why sophomore year?
– Ill give you a simple answer, because its the horny age, Spence.-he gasped.
– Oh okay, but I don't think it affects everybody at this age.-yeah Spencer, I can believe.-I never.
– Neither did I, but as far as I can know my friends had done a lot of stupid things while I were studying.
–O, gotcha, though I never had friends.
– Okay, okay, do I need to repeat it again? I'm  your bestie right now, what is in the past, must stay in the past ok.-you couldn't notice at first(because you were looking at the pavement movement)but what you said made he open a wide smile
– Right, let's see Garcia.
[...]
Time flies by and BAU is getting the unsub out of hands, now after the sixteen years old girl death you've been set to work with Garcia, you both less than 10 minutes found what Spencee wanted, as a reward suddenly out of nowhere, Reid kisses your forehead while he held your cheeks happily as soon he rushes out of the room leaving you with a speechless shocked face and a shocked Garcia growing with slowly a mischievous grin.
–What the heck have I just seen?
–Don't make me questions that I can't answer.
...
You're passing by Reid table, he called you but you were with your purse on hands ready to go home, when Garcia stopped you holding your arm.
–We're hitting town tonight, you two, let's go.
– I don't feel like the a good company tonight, sorry.
– Neither do I, my precious hacker.-you Tey to fawn her, but you won't get out.
–Hm nope, you two, don't make me bring both of you by force, good boy.-she says when Spencer gives up getting up.
–I don't when drink, my dear!
–Then I pay you a soda.-Spencer continues, making Garcia proud.-What!? Why are you looking at me like that?
– Because I'll rip your bashful smile out of your face.
–Don't brag sweetie, we are going now -Garcia dragged you outside.
However when you arrived near the car Spencer got a call and his cheerfully smiled dropped in seconds.
–What happened??-you came closer him, but he opens the back seat door of Penelope's car, he makes you get inside and then rushed to Garcia.
–It's Nathan.
°°°
After what happened with the boy, Spencer left with Gideon while Penelope were being comforted by Morgan, and you, well with the wind, you shake your head getting out of there going to the nearest bus stop, when the bus arrived you heard your name being called but you were already in.
When you arrived in home you put all of your clothes in the washing machine and took a good shower ready to sleep, the panic and blood that you saw this week were enough, but as you're an unfortunate person someone rang your house's bell. Before opening the door you check who's the visitor,  if is an unknown you would call Nala and pick up your gun, but all what you see is a pale Spencer, you mentally shrugs but open your door.
–Hey, you shouldn't be here after what happened, you should've be at..-y/n is interrupted by a tight hug that almost made her fall on the floor, confused you trust in your guts  and just held his hug the warmest way possible.-Shushh, it's okay, it's okay, Spence, what we saw today it's over now, right?-He kept holding you in his arms,  you thought Gideon calmed him over past hour, but as you can see, Spencer is here, his hands trembling as hell.
You had to force him sit down on your sofa and drink a calming tea, not coffee for tonight, Spencer apologised for his abruptly visit but he also remarked that he'd told uou earlier that day he'd come to you house, it's was awkwardly after the hug because you didn't know what to say when you and he shared minutes that seemed hours staring at each other. You moved haste first, holding his hand and making him sit down while you were preparing the tea.
Nala leant her head on his lap, which seems to distract him, that's a good girl.
After the tea, Spencer quickly sleeps on your comfy large sofa, which causes you to cover him up, you mutter lowly to Nala.
–Keep an eye on our boy girl, mom will sleep too.
And after that day, something happened in both heart's,  but no one would do anything, not now.
Spencer had been visiting you lately at night times, you never asked why he's coming when you both finish your cases, because deep down, his company doesn't make you feel lonely, not ignoring Nala's existence, but having another human near, laughing and telling secrets and stories could never be replaced, even if that person its always bringing you scientific facts.
....
Derek Morgan's case close — you were mad at everybody, you were paired to work with Garcia, check as quick as possible to get your friend out of his prison. You couldn't believe either Hotch or Gideon were doing, how could be all of them fools, the moment you realised was the same moment you read the letter that Carl Bufort sent to the judge, your tears were burning your eyes and cheeks, Garcia asked worried why you were crying, she never saw you crying like this, eyes filled with a quiet anger.–"Hon' what happened, why are you crying? This is just a letter".–"Garcia... Haven't you noticed why Derek never told us about his past? Is because he have a scar, a deep scar that is private, why do you think he doesn't wanna us to know, I'd feel the same.Yet your friend couldn't understand.–"Garcia...All the clues have dots and those dots links each other" when she connected then her face fell.
The case went by and you two said anything, you'd didn't wanted to make Morgan sad or get him angry, since the stress of this case, this is a matter that isn't your place to say anything if the person wants to forget about their scars, thing that Gideon and Hotch unfortunately opened again, you know, somehow it was needed yet in a unpleasant way.
...
No way out (part 1 of 2)
Nala is the star of this episode, your brave girl helped a lot, you didn't enter the house, your dong sniffed something as she ran you followed and alerted everybody foretelling that you found the trailer, you dog haven't enter3d but barked, Hotchner came in first, then Spencer, Prentiss and you the last, your eyes googled in dread and further you see more your stomach churn, Spencer approached you pulling you out of the car, he seemed pale as a ghost.
–Are you okay?- you ask him first.
...
After that case, Spencer was once again at your house, eating and watching something you didn't know what it was, you didn't complain, seeing him distracted and calmer is enough, after dealing with that psychopath who still ran away right above your  nose, twas enough.
You sat beside him, giving him a tea cup, while you were sipping your mug with coffee and milk mixed, he stares at the tea cup followed by your coffee mug.
–Why tea?
– You need rest.
– I can sleep by drinking coffee, your coffee is good.
– Caffeine is considered to be a stimulant, which means it increases activity in your brain and nervous system. It also increases the circulation of chemicals such as cortisol and adrenaline in the body. In small doses, caffeine can make you feel refreshed and focused, yet beyond that I surely consider, enough for you today.-he stares at you with those eyes of an abandoned dog that has given up pestering, you were right and he tasted his own poison.
– If this is the reason, you should've a cup of tea then.
– Milk softens the effect of caffeine and despite of it, coffee gives me a reverse effect, I usually get sleepy when my belly is warm.
He roll his eyes with a tiny smile while his head hangs back.
– I can't really believe in what I have heard.
– It's up to you mate, wether you like it or not, this is what happens.
You guys stays in a silent for a couple of minutes when until he question you:
– How you can do that?
– Do what specifically?
– You never flinch when you see mutiled bodies, dead bodies either being of a woman or a child.
With it your body language changed, you tensed reflecting about it, it's true, every case when you're exposed to dreadful backgrounds, your face is neutral, your eyebrows and shoulders just tenses and recoil, you're always with a cheerfully smile, lightning the room even when you stay shut saying nothing only when you have something. Why and how can you just simply act as if nothing happened as each case passes by worsening than the latest case?
Your mind turned numb, your eyes for seconds with no light, Spencer panicked seeing your silence, you usually snaps back.
– Sorry, you don't need to answer if you ...-you tilt your head toward him.
– Honestly or the basic resume?-he hesitated before looking at your eyes.
– The first one.
– Honestly,  I don't know since when I'm like this, I think it's because I don't want to be seem as a weak person, as well I either flinch or cry, I shall not show it, because inside of my head it shows me how weak I am.-Spencer halts his cup of tea on the small table near the sofa, with a quick move he approached his body near your, side by side.
– Why do you say that? Flinching is not a demonstration of weakness nether crying showing them doesn't make you any less brave, in my opinion, it just shows that you're a human and that you care ..
– You didn't get it Spence, before I make it at the BAU, I saw plenty of things that followed my dreams turning them into nightmares, I couldn't even sleep, always crying and in the next morning Id have to put on a makeup so none would noticed that I've been crying the whole night and my mental health wasn't getting any better, but then some episodes later...-his attention is all on you.- Some how I manage to surpress everything that scared me, because I thought to meself, this is the career I've chosen and I shouldn't be scared or surprised anymore, cuz deep down I knew what would happen. I've built a China's wall around my feelings and that why I try my best at not showing you guys any reaction, I longed for become my strongest version of meself.
Spencer took mental notes about what you said and he understood the meaning of all of this, but he also knew you're not all good up here (mind) and that it might be a little fucked up, he gives you a tender smile, his hand struggled but he messed your hair making you frown, what he really wanted to do was stroke your loosen hair, but well, he's such a gentleman.
– What was it?
– Nothing, by the way, I think you should, step by step if you'd like, show more reactions when we see dreadful things, you know, when you don't do it you make all if us look silly.
– Oi! I'm not the only one doing it, Hotchner barely changes his humour and the new agent also never flinch and I mean, mo offending.
– You understood what I meant, don't compare yourself with the others, there's only a Morgan as so  I have only one y/n.-you bubbly laugh.
– After my dim statement you managed to make me laugh, you have an odd way to flatter me Spence.
– Just because your mind is different from others.-you lean in, catching by surprise with such closeness.
– Why? You're saying Am I weird?
– No! Well, I mean, only if you consider me weird as well, because the way your mind works is same as mine, different, oddly.-you back off still staring him with a sassy smile, around him you naturally have a side smile spread.
– Two weirdos then, cheers.-Nala is sleeping when you get up.– If you still coming at my door at night I think I should buy a new bed and put in my office so you could sleep properly while you're resting here.-he urgently denies.
– There's no need for it, if you want me to leave, I'll leave rig..-he stands up faster than you thought.
– Heck no! Back off genius, you're staying with me tonight and in any night time you'd want, you're always welcome Spence, I was just joking silly boy.
– Ah... So I'm nor leaving?
– If you dare to put a toe out my doorstep, I'll drag you inside by your hair.–Spencer begins to laugh sitting again on the couch, inside you something stirred, you'd like to ask him, why is he always coming at your door, doesn't he thinks that you're boring?
Spencer noticed you dull expression, you're thinking in something, because when you're doing it, he knows you lost yourself in your thoughts being em not very pleasant.
– I'd pay billions of dollar's to know what's inside your mind right now.-he snaps you out of your reality.
–What? Were you profiling me right now?-you scoffed a laugh arms crossed.
– Kind of, what you were thinking?
Nothing important you'd say, but you rather started an another subject.
– Do you wanna visit my little piece of heaven? I think I haven't shown you where I work when I ain't at the BAU.-Spencer again quickly haste from the sofa, making you giggled, you show him the way past the hall going up the brief staircase to a singular door made of polished wooden. – When I was a child I've always dreamed of having my little special place so I could run in and stay safe.
– Are you sure you want to share it with me then?-you violently nod with a pout.
– You're my very being person, Spence, you're my best friend.-his heart doesn't want only it.– And I haven't been a good hostess, I just showed you the loo, kitchen and living room, except the most exciting part of my residence.
– Go on.-he anxious yearns, what's behind the door? So this is the space you do your things? It's the place you are comfortable in, it's your special place, it means a lot for you.– You're making me interested and curious.
Saying nothing more you open the door revealing what behind the door, his face just enlighten with the view, getting in before you in excitement, Reid its definitely on cloud nine, his fingers began to do theirs strange movements when he's thinking as well his tongue.
Behind the door you have hidden a mix between where you'd called it a mix between an office and a library, high bookshelves with loads of book yet there's still space to fit more of em and in the center there's an office table with your PC sided by a laptop aside by a lampshade, your office chair in position, near one of the bookshelves there's there's a comfy armchair beside it a couch-rest bed, where your body fits perfectly but not Spencer, if he'd want to use he'd have to shrink a wee.
– Book!-he's already checking on them like of he was a little boy fan of dinosaurs visiting a paleontology museum for the first time seeing his favourites stuffs.-You have never interested me more.– and his heart and brain comes to terms, he wanna marry you, when? He doesn't knows, but he'll even not knowing what to do with it.– And you hide it from me, how dare you.-you look astonished coming closer his side.
– You know, I thought you'd find me weird
– More than people think about meself? Not in a hundred times, that's the place you find come to work, study and also relax?-you positively nod making his heart beat faster.
– Here's where I can find an escape, mainly when I'm alone after arriving home due to a stressful work day also when you don't come, I stay here until I fall asleep, I think the day I marry, if I marry and don't get killed, I'd like to buy a bigger house just to have a library inside home and don't mix with office business.
Reid is holding a handcover book, turning his entire body in front of you. The moment you mentioned marriage, buying a bigger house and make a library stirred his being.
– Do you wanna marry some day?
– Pretty boy, who doesn't? But if I don't find anyone worth of my love in the future, my prince and his dark horse, Imma just marry myself.-he falls into a laugh, you're unbelievable.- What? Why are you laughing at me?
– The mind of yours have an enchanting way to catch me off guard.-you gasp, he isn't cooperating with you when he's just simply and bluntly tells you what he thinks, making your heart skip a beat, it's unfair.
The more you make him laugh, open a wide smile, listen to him when he's telling unfortunate facts or fun facts, make him feels out of breathe when you walk in saying good morning or good night, the more you make him skip a heart beat, the more your intimacy growths.
It should be illegal, your mere existence should be illegal, he's not safe around you.
[Revelations]
In this case you stayed with Gideon and Spencer, but along the way everything started to crumble.
Garcia couldn't access the serial killer's IP, this issue were giving to everyone a headache the killer was a psychotic, a sick person who was commenting crimes desecrating sacred verses from the Bible for Christians in his every murder case.
Albeit everything begins downhill when Spencer and JJ were sent to go to Hankel's house
When they found JJ, only her returning from the mission, you for the first time in one of the cases with the BAU, you stepped back, your heart races as Sonic were in a desperate  hurry, yet it did not allow you to cry, you could only tremble when everyone went searching for clues to find Reid.
However nothing was working, why!?  Why!?
Until the video reaches you and Penelope also joins in person with everyone at Hankel's house, seeing him in that chair made your body tense, an anger you hid for so long, one of the feelings you deprived for long years for her to be sane as well as the sadness that filled her heart at seeing Reid so vulnerable.
You couldn't take it and left the room, Prentiss after the video was over went to comfort you and you, the person who seems a little difficult to hug, hugs her, that showed how fragile you were.
Prentiss wasn't the only one, JJ too, but you didn't want to forgive her, she should have stayed together with him, they both should have stayed together, she could have taken care of him, but here she was.
Of course!  You don't really blame her, I was just as in shock as you are and if I were you in her shoes I'd understand, her empathy was sometimes a pain in the ass and sometimes a blessing.
Morgan and Penelope went to talk to you shortly thereafter, both to reassure and to see if you were still in a position to stay on the case and you said that you wouldn't go anywhere without seeing until Reid is safe and sound.
Every minute when you were with them and alone, you try to stay positive, attracting only good things like "Spencer will be saved, he'll be in safety soon, we will find him, you'll find him"
You could barely sleep, even when you closed your eyes to sleep, your anxieties were still awake
And it was then that after the dead couple you gave up, you decided to help Penelope, not knowing that it could work, you took a local map and tried to memorize a bit of what you saw of the video, the place behind what it was
The time now was your worst enemy, the sand in the hourglass reaching to its limits, a valued time that you didn't have, that Spencer didn't have
You didn't know how long he could stand being in the hands of that crazy Raphael, you just wanted to cry, but the tears didn't fall, not while everyone could hear, leave them for later
Garcia told you to rest and you agreed, but when everyone went to sleep, you returned, sleep could not take effect as your mind was dominated by adrenaline
You stayed up all night again until everyone was surprised to see you with the exhausted look and a bad mood, but you got something in the middle of the night, yet it barely escaped your hands and you told Garcia, she asked how it is you only managed to say "I don't know how I let it slip, but I was so close to find"
Before the nightfall you captured the signal and IP address of that video, you managed to decode whatever your input was, as if it were a plague of locusts that wiped out the entire corn crop, quickly and decisively.
You trembled and stuttered with words while the map was in your held,  the map that you manually drew on the computer screen and handed to your team.
— "I found it, I I I saw the details behind the doorstep, there's trees and a graveyard nearest, please, just believe me without making question when we don't I have time, is a damnit gun shoot deep in the dark, but I'm sure we will find our boy"
And then you fainted, Morgan's arm quickly held you when your body and consciousness betrayed you, Morgan had to carry you to a bed and lay you on it, right after all of they left to find Spencer while a cop were looking after you.
You couldn't sleep well, you didn't even were able to sleep, then your body claimed for its well deserved rest when your work is done.
Reid is rescued, all of em were relieved when they saw him alive, in a bad and desperate state but alive, godforsaken, all seemed so relived when your guidance leaded them at the right place
Hankel got shot, anyway
Spencer was so weak, he was a definition of a mess, a mix of feelings  that he couldn't even describe, seeing the whole team coming for his rescued. All the tight hugs he received, except one, yours.
– Where's y/n? Why she's not with you?- he asks Gideon who huffs in worry.
– Agent y/l/n fainted before she could make it.-he became paler than he was, he babbled.
– W What!? What happened with her, is she okay? Is she safe?
– Safer than she could possibly be, kid, she found your localisation, Garcia told us she barely could rest, she stayed up all night, she haven't grip a nap then her body claimed for its own rest when it recognised that her work was done. -Gideon pat his shoulder, let's go home boy.
So it means, because of you, he is safe now, not in a condition indeed yet alive he remains.
– Can I have... Can I have a second alone?-Gideon didn't wanted, but his lips shrink agreeing.
And then, Reid comes back and took the drugs.
Then the weekend came, at 06 a.m you left your house in which you dedicate this time to walk your dog. Your mind filled with the scenes of Reid being captive,  you haven't seen he since then.
You returned home an hour and thirty minutes later, took a good shower and then left again, but Nala stayed at home this time.
You went to a shooting club, you have calmly put on the headphone protectors while you loaded your gun looking at the target(using eyes protectos too), the first shoot in the left side of the chest straightforwardly in the lungs was enough to make your mind weak against the demons that you once make a oath that you would never let em win you mind over.
A flashback knocked down your mind guard.
Unknown years ago
Before working for the BAU at Quantico you used to work in London before your transference and recommendation letter, you used to be just like Garcia, without the twisted nicknames, an assistant rookie with your work friend, they used to be your best friend, until the day they had been take as hostage, you truly tried, yes you did, every effort to make em get out that situation, racing against a time you barely had.
She got shot, the right in the middle of its head, you saw the photos and you blamed yourself for that day, you should've be at they side, you'd do anything to be in their place, yet they wouldn't return, but what freaked you out was knowing that your another colleague were a traitor that also made the trap which get your friend killed, how could you let it happen?
That was the very case that you got yourself into depression, no one could be trusted enough, they'll bite you back. After their death, you couldn't stop sobbing nor crying when you're left alone in your flat, but you had to fake it, because if people from  work felt that something is up with you, they would make you resign and go to therapy or a psychiatric, well, you should've go but you didn't, so you faked every single day the most brightest smile, covering the wounds that the past left in your life.
And seeing that same scene after those years happening with Spencer, your mind entered in a frenzy, too much for your poor heart.
"- not again please."
You felt a gentle hand touching your forearm snaped you out of your mind.
–Are you all right kid?-it was Morgan voice, what is he doing here? You thought.
–W...What? Wait, what are you doing here?- you put down the gun.
– Sometimes I come here to de-stress, I think you're doing the same, but you look awful.
– Thank you for the compliment.-you replied grumpy.
– Easy girl, but since you're here, wanna bet just to see who shoots better?
– You're making my hour worth now.-you take a deep breath.-And don't tell the others that you saw me here, none need to know my whereabouts when I'm enjoying my weekend.
– Not even Garcia and Reid?
– If they ask, you can, but they won't, I'm boring and let me be boring in the weekends.-Morgan denies with a smiling face nod.
– Whatever the little princess wants.-you shyly smile.-But I think you should visit Spencer after getting out of here.-your eyes googled at him, Reid isn't okay? Of course he isn't but you don't want to bother him.
–Why should I? Have something happened?
– You're his friend, I dear to say the closest and that would understand his geeky speeches, besides it I think something is popping inside his mind.-your eyes softens, your heart just listening about his name and what might be happening give you such a pang in the heart.
– I don't want to bother him.
– Bother him?-Morgan loads his gun.-I think, besides me of course, you're like the one that make that boy smile in a way that I, as a common person with a common sense could sense that he loves you when you're around.-your cheeks starts to warm-up, you load you gun once again.
– Don't say things that you might be wrong.
– I used to say the same about your guesses and in the end, you 95% was right.
– Where is 5%?
– I am a proud man kid, I have to maintain my esteem.-you laughed.
– Okay, I'd visit him anyway, but thanks for explaining your thoughts, you might be 100% right.
– Then let's see who's better with a gun.-he declared.-Beware girl, I'll win.
–What a cocky conclusion and, please, tell me where Spencer lives, I forgot his address.
– It's a matter of fact that I'll win and ok, after our deal, I'll give his address, ready or not, there I go.
Well, Morgan won and as a prize, he asked you to bring your special brownies.
You just lose for a slightly difference, Ouch, with a pout on your face you left heading towards home, but in the middle of your track you remembered and as you were not far away from his home, you changed your route.
You toc-toc his door, arm's crossed anxiously waiting, what would you say? You have no subject to talk about, and you're also afraid what are you supposed to do with your visit.
You knocked again and no response again, you inhale and toc one more time.
–Reid, please, open the door..-you're giving up.- Reid I'm sorry that I wasn't there for you when they rescued you, I am really but you know, I really wanted to make it, so please open the door and then shuts it again, I know that friends are supposed to support each other in their darkest times, Reid if you don't want to see me because of this, I'll leave, but you won't get rid of me that easi..-And then the angels answer came, the door is wide open as your eyes due to the suddenly action.– What th...
You're caught off guard, because the moment Reid opened his door, pushed you in closing the door behind him,he quickly pulled you into his embrace, holding you in as if you were a precious dragon's gold, and he'd be the dragon in his most desperate way to protect what belongs to it. Although this isn't the real meaning of all of his action.
Reid tightly hugs you, notnwant to letting you go and in a moment of shock you did nothing, but then your gentle hands fondle his back soon turning in a reciprocal hug, if he takes off your lung ait, you'd let.
– Thank you , thank you and thank you again.-he whispers under his breath, fraught in his voice. You had to shut down your eyes.-You saved me, I know the others did the same, but you found me, you found me y/n, and I'll be always grateful for it, I owe you and I'm so sorry...What I did when I chos..
– Shhh... It's okay, It's okay, I'm here and you didn't do anything wrong. There's nothing to apologise for.-you slowly untangled of his hug, just to hold his hand gently stating into his eyes, you hardly do this, you can't keep it for a long period.
His deep red eyes with the bags under his eyes, steaming glowing eyes, he sniffing his nose to not cry, his vulnerable state, his soft hair all in disorder.
Your face trembled, seeing he in this way, how to control your own breathing? You should be strong, you're always have been the strongest, even when you crumbled.
But you couldn't say much, your lips shavers when you tried to say something or smile, your bidy shifted the weight side to side, as you opened your arms, inviting to another hug, as if this action speak for itself: "Hush now, it's alright, you're no longer alone." And Reid hugged you again, a mix of gentle, starved touch of a hug.
Morgan was right, he needed you.
Hence the moment Reid saw you in his doorstep, and heard everything that you were saying (he was in the bathroom until he recognised your voice) he knew that his heart was no longer his to keep.

I know the surviviors get some flack for not grieving a whole lot for Kokichi, but Kokichi was horrible to everyone and wheverr people tried to question him, he'd push them away because he wanted to work on his own because of severe trust issues and he also did some questionable things that can't exactly be forgiven. They weren't exactly friends and it's a lot to take in.
Six total Kokichi-related asks in one post, now incoming!
Tumblr media
WAAAAAAAHAHA Kokichi Time
Yeah, I agree with everything you're saying. I think that they eventually appreciated and respected his final effort to ruin the killing game, but for most of the trial, it was just deeply infuriating and upsetting for them. And even after that, there's a lot leading up to that trial that could only be infuriating for them. And in the end, Shuichi considers Kokichi just a frustrating enigma and utterly unknowable - "the very embodiment of a lie," as he says.
Tumblr media
So you suspect that he has some personal connection to Killing Games in his past? Could it even be from a previous DR "season," then? I don't know how/why he'd have the luck thing, though. There doesn't seem to be anything to indicate that. I often wonder whether we'll get some kind of direct V3 sequel someday, in some medium. I'm sure there's got to be a temptation to explore where things wound up for the survivors and what the outside world is really like, who the survivors really are or aren't, etc. But if Spike Chunsoft eventually does this without Kodaka's involvement, it's going to ring hollow. Such a instance could easily become a story that openly defies and/or flies in the face of the implications of V3.
Tumblr media
Interesting point. Even when he's seemingly treating Gonta nicely, it's just an attempt to get something he wants - trapping everyone in the "bug meet-and-greet," maneuvering Gonta into murdering Miu, etc. What's interesting about that is how he seems to genuinely befriend Gonta in Danganronpa S: Ultimate Summer Camp. But of course, his treatment of Keebo is always the same...
Tumblr media
You may or may not have seen, anon, a previous Ask wherein a Japanese person said that bullying is a major issue there, but people tend to stay silent instead of calling others out. (I can’t seem to find the post where I responded to that ask now... ) So this might be part of that same cultural issue, then; Keebo is making it very clear how much he is upset by Kokichi’s behavior, but nobody really makes much effort to stop Kokichi anyway.
Well, I guess Kaede does try to distract him away from bothering Keebo in the very beginning. It’s something?
Actually, the fandom doesn’t even seem to hold this against Kokichi at all! Maybe they really do see Keebo as some kind of lesser being unworthy of any kindness just because of his physical nature??
(Friendly reminder to everyone that Kokichi is made aware very early on how much his behavior offends and upsets Keebo. So naturally, he keeps doing it anyway forever, in every single timeline - UTDP and Danganronpa S are no different. Because Kokichi’s just a really shitty person.)
Tumblr media
Definitely. A big part of why his plans ultimately fail to lead where he'd hoped is because of the bridges he burned behind him. It's another reminder of the recurring "attempting to deal with the situation alone = misfortune and death" undercurrent through the series.
Tumblr media
I get that, although he’s kind of a major part of V3′s narrative. He really drills home much of the “truth vs lies” theming. But, just like some previous antagonists, there are definitely things that would go much more smoothly if he wasn’t being a little shit about everything and was just telling people what he knows. Obvious solution: You excise the character who inexplicably knows everything about each trial but never wants to share any of his information from the entire equation.
But I think he’s still an important part of the story and its central focus, so maybe we could just... not make him be some kind of super-analytical secret detective? Because that always felt like it was kind of bullshit to me anyway. Much like his inexplicable ability to instantly know any time any character is lying about absolutely anything, we can just delete these traits and subsequently make him more believable as a person. He can still have his elaborate scheme to stop the killing game and still be an annoying liar who lies, but he doesn’t have to also be a mind-reading super-detective. Kill that element and I’d feel better about his role.

The soreness on Riley's hips and wrists along with the ache and emptiness between her legs paired with Maria, her handmaid, still calling to her from the other side of the door, served to fuel her panic and drive her near tears.
After quickly redressing himself, Liam gently pulls Riley's gown back over her, patting her hair down and wiping tears from her cheek.
"What are we supposed to do about," Riley begins to ask, but pauses when Liam squeezes her wrist.
"Stay quiet. I will do the talking," he commands, and Riley is too frightened to do anything but obey.
As he walks them over to the door, Riley feels a warm liquid traveling down her inner thigh. She looks again towards Liam, wanting some sort of assurance that they weren't going to get into trouble with her father, but he doesn't spare her a glance.
"Princess?" The royal secretary, Jean, calls out. "Your father requests your presence! I still must go and collect the Commander as well. Please, do not make this difficult for me."
Liam opens the door in one swift motion. "No need to go collect me, Jean," the Commander says to the royal secretary. "I was with the princess taking a complaint about one of the nobles." He taps her lower back, which Riley takes as a cue to nod.
"Ah... I see," says Jean, taking a moment to stare at Riley's fallen tears. "Well, then, let me lead you to His Majesty's office."
As Maria walks away, Riley and Liam follow closely behind Jean, the dark hallway illuminated by small streaks of light from the windows.
"Why do you think my father is calling us over so late?" Riley asks Liam, hoping for some gentle conversation. She was still trying to wrap her mind around what had occurred between them in the library. The pain in her inner thighs increased with every step she took.
Instead of answering her, Liam pulls out his phone, illuminating his shadowed face for a few seconds before he puts the phone back in his pocket.
Riley asks her question again, and when he turns to look at her, she looks away. His gaze brought a sense of shame in her, even though at that moment she wanted nothing more than his comforting arms around her.
"I'm not too sure," he says plainly, and they continue their walk in the dark.
When they reach the King's office, Constantine sits at his desk with Leo across from him. The old man motions for both Riley and the Commander to sit, then dismisses Jean.
As the man leaves the office, he tries to read the Commander's expression from the corner of his eye.
Was Liam proud of himself, Jean wonders? Being with the Princess alone so late at night was not only dangerous for her but was guaranteed to cause rumors to go around. He was thankful that it was only him and Maria that had heard what was happening inside. For the princess' sake, Jean told himself that he wouldn't tell anyone what he had witnessed.
"I called you all in here to tell you," Constantine begins, "that the end of the season will be Riley's coronation."
Leo and Riley shift forward in their seats, surprised at their father's words.
"There's no reason for you to be surprised, Riley," the King says. "You knew of this before the season began."
"True, but," she stutters. "It... it was never finalized."
"It has been now," the man says. He opens his mouth to say something more, but Riley interrupts him before he can.
"But why? You told me that I would have months after the season to prepare for the wedding and for my role as queen. Why didn't you—"
"Your father has cancer, Riley," Liam interrupts her.
She turns her head to him in shock. "How long have you known?" the princess asks, a feeling of betrayal filling her eyes with tears.
"There's no way you've been telling your Commander these personal issues before your own children," Leo speaks out.
Constantine raises his voice to answer, "Trust me when I tell you that I wished to tell you sooner, but I truly couldn't."
"Bullshit," Leo states, falling back into his seat.
The room falls into stiff silence. Riley stares down at her hands, anxiety and confusion filling her chest. Leo couldn't shake the anger out of his head; how was Liam a more important person to tell compared to Leo and Riley?
Meanwhile, Constantine and Liam give each other a meaningful look, and the King instructs the Princess that she should get some rest before the morning. He tells Leo to stay in the room for a moment longer.
Liam offers his hand to Riley, and as she stands she sees Leo giving her a meaningful stare from the corner of his eye, but she can't guess what his unspoken words mean. The Commander and Princess walk out of the room arm in arm.
As the door to the King's office closes, Liam's elbow falls away from Riley's, leaving her to reach for him, but she takes a step back before her fingers graze his sleeve.
Riley notices someone else is in the hallway, but cannot recognize them. Liam greets the person with a nod.
"Is it still the same person from your message, Commander?" the soldier asks.
"The same three, Zacharias," he states.
"Of course, sir, my apologies."
Three? Three what? Riley wonders. She had complained to him about Michael, so it would make sense that he would call someone else to do the job for him. But who were the other two he was talking about? Could it be unfinished business?
She takes another step closer to him but stops when the soldier's eyes land on her.
Without another word, the Commander and his soldier walk away from each other, and Liam locks his arm with Riley's again to bring her to her room.
He kisses her hand when he leaves her outside her door, and when she's about to sit on her bed and is unexpectedly met with Maria, Riley jumps away.
"My apologies, Princess," the old woman says. "I just wanted to make sure that you made it back to your room safely."
"You don't have to worry about me, Maria. I'm not a small child anymore," Riley claims.
"I know, but," the woman pauses. "I do not think you should be spending so much time alone with Commander Liam."
"Why? Do you have something against him?"
Maria hesitates before answering. "I just think it's improper."
Riley doesn't respond to her statement. "I'm tired," she says instead. "Good night, Maria."
"Sleep well, child," the woman states, watching Riley roll into bed, then leaving the room.
As she walks the halls towards the servant's quarters, Maria feels a brooding presence behind her. She turns to look, suspecting that someone was following her, but the space behind her was empty; everyone had gone to sleep hours ago.
She continues walking through the palace, purposefully avoiding her room, until she circles back to Riley's chamber. Still, she feels something behind her, until Maria builds up the courage to ask, "Who's there?"
She waits for a response, staring at the dark space she had just come from. Maria stands still until the presence becomes dull, until the clouds outside cover the moon, and the small amount of light she had disappears, and she is left in the dark with an unknown stranger.
...
Even though the king had dismissed Jean, he had other duties to finish before his night came to a close. He made his way quickly to his small office and sighed as he sat down.
Jean grabs papers from the files he still has to work on, telling himself that he'll be fine sleeping on the couch in the corner of the office, but his thoughts are interrupted by a knock on the door.
"Who's there?" he calls out, heart thundering, mind racing through the possibilities.
"It's just me, Jean," Zoe Zacharias laughs as they respond.
"Hey, Zoe!" Jean reacts to the pleasant visit. Though he and Zoe were not friends, they had been working closely since Liam became Commander. "Did the Commander dismiss you for the night, too?"
"Yeah, but I'm not too tired," they state, eyeing the pile of documents on the corner of Jean's desk.
Jean follows their gaze towards the pile. "Heh, must be nice being let out early. I can't go to sleep right now even if I wanted to."
Zoe responds with a light laugh. "How about we go get some drinks?"
"I can't," Jean states, motioning towards his pile.
"Afterwards I'll help you with your forms," they state, holding out a hand to lead him out of the room.
They walk quietly into the palace kitchen, which only has a few dim lights on, letting the two of them see around the room. Zoe walks towards a cabinet and grabs two bottles of wine, while Jean survey's their surroundings, worried that someone might catch them.
"You don't have to worry about someone finding us," Zoe states after they grab the bottles. "The Commander lets me get a drink whenever I want."
They start to make their way back to Jean's office, but Zoe stops and walks onto a balcony and Jean follows close behind.
The two of them listen to the melody of the night, the soft whisper of the wind, the gentle hum of life that had yet to sleep. When the bottles are open and they both take a swing, Jean wonders whether he should confide in Zoe about what he knew happened between the Princess and the Commander.
Zoe worked closely with Liam, even if she knew this information, she wouldn't blabber it on to other workers in the palace, would they?
But when Jean turns to look at Zoe, their eyes already stare daggers into him. Jean's body gives a jolt, and he almost chokes on his wine.
"You look like you have something to say," Zoe states.
"No. No, nothing," Jean claims.
Zoe raises an eyebrow. "Are you sure?"
Jean gulps and nods his head. He considers running back inside to the comfort of his office couch, but Zoe's gaze makes him too afraid to move.
"Is it something about the Commander?" Zoe guesses, causing Jean's body to go cold.
Noticing the reaction, Zoe throws their head back and laughs. They take a swing from their bottle and wipe the corner of their mouth.
"You can tell me, Jean," they say. "I've got plenty of embarrassing stories about Liam. Some that he'd kill me for if he knew that I'd told anyone." Zoe gives him a wide smile. "Your secret's safe with me."
"Oh, thank God!" Jean breathes a sigh of relief. "I thought you were going to tell the Commander and he would... would execute me or something!" The words fall out of Jean's mouth before he knew what he was saying. "I mean I didn't mean to walk in on him and the Princess, and even though I didn't see anything, I still think that it is beyond improper... I mean imagine if the king found out!"
"Exactly," Zoe states as Jean gives out a nervous laugh, staring out into the now moonless night. "Imagine if the king found out."
As Jean kept laughing, the clouds covered more and more of the night sky, leaving him and Zoe unable to see anything in front of them; the light from inside the palace wasn't even sufficient enough. And as the world around Jean becomes darker and darker, his vision turns black, and he is left feeling nothing but an increasing pain in the back of his head.
