okazyyyy here we go. parts from murder drones eps 6-7 that really tickle my brain that i never see people mention like ever (if you come into the reblogs or comments of this post being like "why didnt you include (x part that everyone talks about)!!!" then that is why. and also i am going. to Eat You.) this isnt really going to be organized or anything. basically just me being abnormal about sounds and movements and other minuscule details that im really fond of for however many words

okay, first thing is gonna be a sound thing. i absolutely LOVE the beeping sound uzi's visor makes in this part. i really like sounds.

cant get a good screenshot of the movement cus.. yknow. duh. movement. but the way alice moves from there to the ground to where v is so. idk. fluid. its so fun to look at i really like it

the finger snap here. i love this finger snap. the noise. the movement. its so good. its so crisp. i love it

the lighting on uzi's face. forgive me for using the word crisp twice in a row but its crisp. its really good. okay

and the lighting on n's face here??? the colors are so harsh. i really like looking at it. okay. i feel like im not writing enough to just describe how much i like the lighting here. i really like it. its cool. okay i think its cool. i dunno

i really like this hallway. thats it. thats the section. the way the camera slowly tilts just a little bit while it zooms in? the way the slowed down music in the background almost sounds like alarm sirens? like okay

another thing i cant capture properly because, duh, movement! but the way the red sentinel kind of dips down here? i dont know why it did that but it slayed. and id like you all to ignore the fact that my nyan cat youtube bar got caught in the screenshot

the sound effect that plays here when "tessa" cuts herself with the sword. i dunno. its just a really satisfying sound to me thats all

another thing about sound effects really close to the last one but. the sorta crunching noises that uzis hand being contorted here make. im normal about sounds i promise. ok on to episode 7

the lighting here. on nori. insane. im not normal. as mentioned before with n i love this kind of harsh lighting especially with the drones it just looks so visually appealing

sorry if this is mean but aurora needs to get a new producer so bad bro :(( i still think her voice is so good but the production is so bad i can't listen to her new music . its so pitchy and the synths are so sharp and her voice is half drowned out in the mix when she's got such an icy clear voice it kind of needs to be heard clearly too. if its competing then it gets harsh and like sore to listen to lol. her vocals would be so amazing with real strings and percussion etc etc too , like it could be so interesting (and we already know she's better live, i think thats pretty common opinion) but the extremely digital instruments and synth in her songs just ruin so many of them to me. imagine if cure for me didn't have the horrible synth keyboard that sounds so cheap and textureless and instead had some percussion T_T

i didn't want to leave a wall of text on that muse post by @marxistgnome but i love it so much and this is going to be so rushed but i could go on and on and on about b'elanna and storytelling and narratives. this got really long and so under the cut it goes

it all really ties into that post i once saw about this consistency with b'elanna episodes where they reveal more about her as a person through her interior life- her thoughts and dreams and visions... what she does when she's alone. and muse really gives us this close up look at the way she sees things and what she cares about through kelis - the stories she tells him and the way she interacts with him- because he gives this good intimate portait of the world as b'elanna sees it- as she's described it to him (almost makes you wonder what she was considering there- whether she thought she should tell someone their stories because they're stuck in another quadrant and might not make it home, or if she thought she wasn't going to get off that planet and might not make it back to voyager)

and of course he's crafting a play so there's room for his own creativity but b'elanna tells him their story really well and she cares about it and you can tell. she cares a lot.

we get another really good look at this in barge of the dead like famously- and it's so consistent in that episode too because she's on the barge and she recognizes kortar from the stories her mom told her as a child and he directly acknowledges that. he says she believes in grethor and in him and she believes because her mother told her the story after she nearly drowned in the sea of gatan. remember prophecy? she's recounting the whole heroic battle with the borg to the klingon generation ship that think baby miral is their savior and the whole scene is framed like (at least it felt this way to me) that for all she says about not being familiar with klingon culture in any respect, the way she interacts with storytelling especially reveals the depth of her understanding of it- shes telling the story and she's telling it really well according to klingon custom and the first thing the visiting klingons do after she tells it is compliment that ability. and its sooo much.

when her and harry are going back and forth at the end of muse and she just goes harry have you ever inspired somebody? when he asks why she even cares so much about the ending of kelis' play. there's just like this klingon belief about living a life that's worthy of being shared with others- like when in day of honor the hologram is evaluating whether she's spent her year honorably and asks her what she's done with her life that's worth celebrating and she can't answer and he tells her that she's giving him excuses. and the direct parallel that could be drawn about how she feels about that with the janeway vision in barge of the dead where she's being condemned and the whole reason is that she's done nothing worthy of glory- 'nothing worthy of song and story.' my goodness

even when she convinces janeway to let her go back to the barge- janeway says it's not real, that she won't let her risk her life for something that she only thinks she experienced- but b'elanna tells her it doesn't even matter if she thinks it was real- that it was real to her and she cares about what her mother thinks of her and she doesn't want her to die thinking badly of her.

we see this with worf, of course the angle we're given is honor and truth and duty- but how you're remembered and talked about is important, even from generation to generation- disgrace in his family is disgrace for him. when they accuse his father of being a traitor at khitomer, it's important to him that his father be remembered as he was - truthfully, honorably, as someone to remember well (even the titles and names they give themselves being little retellings of their lives and the members of their family- on memory alpha worf isn't just worf, he's worf, son of mogh, of the human family rozhenko, mate to k'ehleyr, father to alexander, husband of jadzia, bane of the house of duras, slayer of gowron etc etc.)

((sidenote but b'elanna never in her life introduces herself as b'elanna daughter of miral always as b'elanna torres but on the barge of the dead kortar calls her miral's daughter immediately. and if she's partially from this culture where naming and titles are so important in that respect and b'elanna thinks her mother is. not what she wants to be known by not what she wants to be identified as it's soo relevant to what she calls herself. roxann dawson said that b'elanna wanted to be 'human and perfect' like her father and so she's not ' b'elanna daughter of miral' anymore because she doesn't want miral to be a part of her story, how she's remembered. so it's belanna torres.))

anyway this same- dedication to truth we get from worf and his father's memory we see even with b'elanna in 'remember' where she gets those telepathic dreams/visions from the alien woman about what really happened with that group of people they oppressed. the crew discover that the dreams are starting to affect her health- and so they offer to suppress them, take them away and b'elanna just refuses. because how else will she know what happens to them? who's going to tell their story? and she shares that story once she has it with anybody who will listen because its worth telling.

i'm going a little crazy but klingons and writing and literature and song and stories and living memory its all so. it's ridiculously important culturally. and how that translates back to b'elanna is so fascinating

#this could even extend to her time in the maquis but thats so much and i dont have a good enough grasp of the maquis to tell it #as well as i'd like to. #i could even talk about. what she says- whats revealed about her through her dialogue vs whats said about her. <-a narrative #and those posts going around lately about how softhearted she is despite whats said about her #klingons and story.... everything important getting a retelling and recorded and passed down and set to music and told in theatres #even if its exaggerated its important that its being told. worf loves klingon opera b'elanna never sings a song once in seven seasons #b'elanna 'sometimes i'm little more than hearsay a story told back to me that doesn't make any sense' torres #trek #sidenote also being disgraced / the discommendation stuff from tng #where they turn their backs to the dishonored person and shun them and refuse to talk to them ... with the whole living memory... its like #you're dead and it's not acknowledged and your life dies with you- nobody to tell your story unless as a warning

what's good about a pilot falcon?

HI! The Pilot Falcon (older generations were sold in the US as the Namiki Falcon for whatever reason) is a japanese fountain pen manufactured by Pilot!

it's often referred to as the best modern flex pen, or the best gold nib for a beginner! Tldr for people who aren't pen nerds, a flex pen is a pen that...well, flexes! Most pens have some sort of "flex" to them that results in some sort of line variation, but flex pens can handle a relatively higher amount of pressure. Think like a G nib used in a lot of manga. Old pens were the MASTERS at this, and a good bit of that is due to the nibs being made of gold, which naturally has a "bounce" to it that modern steel nibs have a really hard time living up to. Most people wax poetic about Waterman or other vintages like that because of it. Even modern gold nibs can't really keep up with the gold nibs of yore, but the Falcon is considered to be one that can. I do think legally it's considered a "soft" nib, meaning it's not truly a flex pen but has a lot of flex qualities to it, but some terms that get used are used interchangably so. idk. True flex nibs aren't really a thing in fountain pens these days outside of Noodler's Ahab and Konrad (which are their own nightmare and a half tbh).

The Falcon prized amongst artists for it's very fine nib, which Japanese pen manufacturers like Pilot and Platinum are known for. A Japanese Fine is comparable to a Western (Kaweco, Lamy) Extra fine, and a lot of these pens come in an EF, F, and M. It gets alot of nice line variation despite being so small, and is really an all-around great pen, if legend is to be believed :] An alternative to buying the Pilot Falcon would be getting the Pilot 912 FA, which has something called the "Falcon Nib," not to be confused with the actual pen. They actually look pretty different. The FA nib (right) has these weird cuts on their side that help with flexing and allow it to mimic a full-flex nib, but again. According to legend, modern pens don't flex like vintage pens do, but it IS pretty close.

I've never used either myself, but I'm pretty picky about my pens and so I don't know if I'd ever pay upwards of $200 unless I got familiar with the nib first tbh....The falcon's nib isn't offputting to me like many feel about it, but I'm particular about aesthetics and the feedback on paper and I can't tell if I like them just from looks alone lol. Right now, I don't have much experience with pilot nibs, but if i were to get a pilot pen, tbh I'm looking at the Pilot Elite/e95s in a fine or medium, or a vintage platinum pocket pen.

#im a dweeb #im picky enough about pens that if the nib isnt particularly pleasing (good examples are Visconti Pelikan or Parker nibs) #or particularly unique (examples are Regalia Crossflex and Trilogy or most Music Nibs) #im not particularly drawn to them. superficial and so on #I really like inlaid/inset nibs like the Platinum Carbon or old Pilot desk pens. or the aforementioned Pilot Elite #The Shaeffer Quasi-imperial is PARTICULARLY sexy in design with the diamond inlay tbh #a good flexy or at least bouncy pen can be EF or F for me (sometimes F is actually too large like with the Platinum Preppy) #i tend to benefit from thin nibs anyways (and gold but bouncy steel is good too) because the inks i use are wet #so im not always picky about nib size. but i AM also rlly picky about pen body shapes and a lot do NOT speak to me #I like desk pens bc of the tapered tail but they really aren't suited for travel. but i dont care much for the classic cigar shape of pens #i like how twsbi pens are shaped. i strongly dislike lamy's shape these days. flat top and torpedo pens are better imo #Benu makes both beautiful and gaudy pens and the dream would be a regalia crossflex in either a benu or something truly atrocious #like a custom fountain pen themed after my lonesome cowboy by takashi murakami. no i wont elaborate no dont look that up #alas fountain pens are an expensive hobby and ppl can be a bit dickish about 'lower quality' pens so its not very newbie friendly #esp on reddit. some ppl are so obnoxious tbh. i like the tumblr fp fans way better theyre a lot more helpful and not married to brands #OK THATS ENOUGH SORRY YOU GOT THE RAMBLINDS OF A LUNATIC ITS MIDNIGHT GOOD NIGHT ANON #not art

sometimes the way tubbo will note that he used the wrong track/disc or that he hated a certain transition even though it sounded fine reminds me of the advice we got in theatre where if you mess up DONT TELL THE AUDIENCE. ROLL WITH IT. THEY WILL NOT KNOW YOU MADE A MISTAKE UNLESS IT IS EITHER EXCRUCIATINGLY OBVIOUS OR UNLESS YOU PULL ATTENTION TO IT. and really this applies to most things. there are many many mistakes that creatives make that their audience would not notice if it werent for the creative pointing it out themself

excluding any song from cut the crap bc everything on that album is objectively the worst, i def think ghetto defendant is the worst clash song simply for having allen ginsberg on it. fuck that guy. combat rock is already a mid album but his presence just makes it so much worse

as for their best song...its white riot. i mean ofc its white riot. how can it not be white riot? its everything great about 1976/77 era clash distilled into one song. punchy and politically resonate lyrics, fast and catchy, joe giving it his all on vocals, and tons of fun of listen to. it makes you want to get up and pogo but the message behind the lyrics sticks with you long after the song has stopped playing

but my personal favorite clash song is stay free. mick has always been good at inserting real wistful longing into his vocals when its time for him to sing. you dont need to know that the song is based on a true story to tell that mick cares a lot about the person hes singing about and means every lyric from the bottom of his heart. its a powerful song and, like a majority of clash songs, the lyrics are some of the best ever written for a rock song

i still cant get over how fucking incomprehensible filament fevers music is like theres five different songs happening there, theres several toaster dings (which i love) the tempo changes in THE MOST awkward places and yet it somehow all fits together and also sounds COMPLETELY like white noise when the lyrics are layered over it

#it's been good for my ego #because this was an incredibly intelligent man who found me engaging and smart enough #to the point where he said he had a really good time and he'd like to start seeing me #it's been good for my ego and growth because i could communicate perfectly about what i was looking for #and i didnt change my personality at all for him #i once asked my therapist how i knew what i could ask for in a relationship #because before i always felt i was asking for too much #and she said you'll just meet new people and see things in them you like #or you'll see couples and see things in them youd like for yourself #and youll see things in people and couples you dont like #and you'll pick out those things and go this i want this i dont want #and store it in a little file cabinet until you meet someone that meets the criteria #so you dont constantly feel like begging for scraps or making yourself smaller in any way #so im doing that now and thats what im harvesting from dates even if they go bad #i liked american guys shared interests in movies music and traveling so i want that in someone #but i dont want his coldness i want someone warm and kind #and i like my crush's kindness and warmth but i dont like that our interests and ideas dont match that much #my therapist would be proud :) so am i #personal

"people have got to learn the difference between i liked it and it was good" how about. people should just learn to understand why they like something and what they liked about it. and often that will lead to you saying "oh actually it WAS good. and here's why". or vice versa, if you understand why you dislike something you can say "it WAS bad and heres why". and bc those are opinions theres no objective or technical way to judge art as good or bad. you can say the lighting or editing or music is bad but like. someone somewhere is gonna disagree with you babe. are they wrong?? what if i thought the hunger games used the appropriate amount of shaky cam. then what.
