one of my biggest kpop pet peeves is the way some teasers do not match the song at all. i'm mostly talking about pictures, but it happens with the mv teasers as well. like, i've seen teasers that hinted at a bubbly pop song and then...................... it's a r&b song. like, come on! teasers are supposed to both hype the public up and hint at what the song might sound like. whenever the teasers don't match the song, i don't want to be there for the artist's new comeback. i'm just tired of it all man...

#i do have a problem with teasers in general #i know kpop is based on visuals a lot #but you don't need 324787452121 versions of teaser pics for a new song/album #especially because most companies lack a clear and cohesive direction #for example: rv's chill kill teaser pics are very different when it comes to quality #the first pics were excellent amazing totally unique so creative and every variation of the word #these should have been the only teaser pics because the rest were lacklustre #when it comes to mv teasers it's less visible because you literally listen to a part of the song #but for some songs you can clearly see they decided to only put the best part as the teaser so people will listen #when the song comes out you end up realising that the only good part of the song was the teaser #sorry i had to let that out #smal talk

in an alternate universe where they didn't split, what subunits do you think sm would've given tvxq? i wonder if homin / jyj units would've still happened or if they'd do something like suju kry with the main vocals. or maybe they just go "damn here" and give yunjae a duet

sm doesn't seem to like giving actual 'subunits' to their <five member groups, so i don't think jyj would have happened, but we'd probably still have gotten solo careers (eventually) from the four that have them, and probably i think a couple of duets, but they wouldn't have extensive promo periods/albums attached to them. probably yunjae and maybe changmin jaejoong? they might have also done a yunho junsu dance type one as well. but to be honest i do actually think the split was for the best, bc had they all had continued under sm we would not have gotten all that excellent angry music out of 2011-2014, AND we probably would not have gotten any of junsu's iconic songs either.

so in regards to the bat charm, esp in the hella awesome banquet mv!!!!

the tag itself is called ofuda, a protective talisman!!! there are many different types of ofuda (omikuji are also classified as a kind of ofuda for instance) and throughout the hella awesome banquet mv, we do see the bat charm used as said various types!!!!

here in these two shots, we see the bat charm used as a senjafuda!!! senjafuda are these talismans with personalised designs that, once upon a time ago in japan, were passed around in secret councils like trading cards. ofuda typically have a deity written on it to call for luck, wealth, health, whatever said deity presides over. senjafuda, however, tend to have the person’s name on it and when people would go on pilgrimages, they’d stick the senjafuda on temple shrine gates like a very decorative ‘we were here’ tag lol

fits with the journey to hell narrative that seems to be happening in the mv!!!

and this type of ofuda is known as fuin no ofuda!!!! this one is used as a type of seal to keep evil, vengeful spirits enclosed and away from humans. the more powerful the spirit, the more seals are required to contain in the enclosed space. it’s already a little worrisome to see imagery of kuukou getting killed but this puts a evil spirit/vengeful spirit spin on top of it 🤔
