thinking about my drdt milgram au that stemmed from a comment my friend made

teruko would definitely take the role of the prison guard. she is so sick of everyone there and its very funny. also monotv as jackaloupe

oh also the voices are still canon because they're peak comedy

putting the rest of this under the cut since its just me dumping random thoughts..it is on the brain

i think xander would be very similar to kotoko? in the way that his crime could be killing genuinely awful people.. maybe he'd even take the role of harming those found guilty like she did. i also do believe it wouldn't be too out of character for him to try and form an alliance with the guard like she did.

would be fitting if charles accidentally killed his brother and genuinely didn't remember. i'd have to think of the details but it would surely be an accident.. perhaps something went horribly wrong when he was messing around with chemicals and it ended up killing his brother in some way.. hehe

ace and nico are fairly obvious. nico would end up killing one of their bullies (cmon. they already tried canonically) and ace would accidentally drive someone to suicide via bullying. though i'd have to expand on ace more since all crimes in milgram are supposed to be morally gray in one way or another.. i'll think about it

similar situation to nico, arei would probably kill her sisters. i'd have to distinguish them more if i end up building on it. i think arei's situation could be less of a "heat of the moment" thing and more of an elaborate plan since i do think nico's murder would be more impulsive

EDIT: just had an idea!!! another possibility for arei's murder could be that her sisters pressured her into doing it, possibly with the promise to cut down on their torture or even make her "popular". would make things a lot more interesting, so i'll likely go with it

arturo would definitely try reviving a dead celebrity like shidou did with his wife. you cant even try to tell me im wrong. i don't think arturo would regret it at first however.

with whit.. no clue. i was thinking it could be like mahiru's, but i also wanna make whit a little more on the sinister side? he deserves to be a little fucked up. just as a treat. i just know his mvs would be really cheerful like mahiru's

idk how david would commit murder but he'd definitely have a "its not my fault" muu 2nd trial moment. also xander's admiration of david is staying canon though i'll build on that later. take it as you will for now

infos :

reader : Umi Kitsune, female, immortal, introvert.

facts : She is summoned by who are in need of help or advice. Reader tends to help others that are their species, though reader may seem cunning and mischievous, she is actually one of the most helpful and kindest kistunes out there. Reader has 9 tails, however has not mastered her powers. Her family, the kitsune guardians and one of the few kitsunes that can transform into human, her family died due to protecting the enchanted forest where she, the reader resides, and now, reader is now the guardian of her forest and ancestors, if she has any left. Most Umi Kitsunes can be found in reader's forest, reader's forest is an extremely big forest. However, Umi Kitsunes are almost extinct due to some unknown reasons, reader, is still investigating. ( will be posting an prologue, so this series will have a masterlist ! )

age : reader has no specific age, however she is thousands of years old, so dw ab her being a minor !!

powers : reader can create illusions, because of this, when she is in danger she summons illusions and flee the scene safely. She also uses this to protect people ( ykwim, the guys n gals. ) She can also posses peoples or kitsunes minds, although she hasn't fully mastered this, she does try and test it with her other kitsune friends ( that can't turn into human )

mask : in combat, the mask will look a little like this or this ( u pick ! u imagine what u want <3 I picked the second mask bcs it looks / has the colour scheme of Xiao ! Xiao's one of my favs hehe )

likes : reader likes rice cakes ( according to google kitsunes like anything rice related ) and onigiri !

clothing : readers dress / outfit looks a little like this ! or you can imagine Yae Miko's clothing on reader, the skirt is js a little more covered. :) this is an example !

scaryish fact : yk how I mentioned reader hasn't mastered her powers yet ? Yeah, she unknowingly kills, she had killed foxes that are stepping in her forest, or maybe even kitsunes. However if you think about it, reader might be the cause of extinction of the Umi kitsunes ? Wrong. There's a different killer, and reader is aware, and due to this, reader's mind has one goal, "kill the killer." Her mind is focused on one task, and that is to kill, how does she kill ? Take Layla as an example, she "sleep walks", but she's wide awake, she just not in her right mind. There are only times when this happens, rather, when the killer decides to attack.

Now the character infos are done, I decided to make it js mu favorite characters instead of like 9 characters LMAOAOA, but I decided to make it Xiao, Wanderer, Cyno, n Tighnari ! Since they're my top favorites n the characters I have the most fun writing, I decided to do them instead, I'm planning on adding Lumine, Aether, and Paimon too ! ( Lumine n Aether are aroace ) idk if I should make it fluff mixed with gore yet, still planning ! Also idk if I should make it multiple endings like which character you end up with yk, or if u got the opportunity to go to teyvat w them, not sure yet, since the planning is still in complete, I'll be finishing telephone first ! Will be editing this whenever I get the chance.

i stole this lol but it seemed fun so <3

What was your first ever story idea? What happened to it? it was a fantasy novel about an elf girl. i've never read a book where the main character is an elf, so i decided to write one myself. i did actually end up writing it; it was the first novel i ever wrote and i was 14 when i did it (still proud of that; it was 230 pgs in a word document btw). anyway, i ended up losing access to the manuscript, so rip, but i'm fully intending to rewrite it someday and make it a lot better than it was when i was writing it at 14.

What’s your writing routine? usually i'll put on music and just start writing whatever comes to mind for whatever scene i'm trying to write at the time. whenever i can't figure out what to do next, i'll go on tumblr and scroll for a bit until it comes to me. it's pretty effective, though my editor literally thinks i'm doing nothing all day bc of this even tho i Promise him i'm Working On It 😭😭😭

Are you a plotter, a pantser, or something in between? in between for sure. i plan things as i go. i start with an overall idea and then just...start writing and plan for the next chapters as they come to me. with the novel i'm currently writing, i've only planned up through chapter 8 and i'm currently writing chapter 4. i used to plan everything, but for some reason that made it so much harder for me to actually write the novels, so i don't do that anymore.

Do you try to tell moral stories throughout your work, or any other life lessons? What are they? there was a time where i did that, but the older i've gotten, the more i've realized a solid plot is a lot more important than telling any moral story. whether you like it or not, people are going to remember your book for the story you tell, not the reason you're telling it, and as a reader, i tend to go for stories with more solid plots than morals anyway.

What do you prefer, character development or worldbuilding? Why? both?? idk they both come very easily to me. to the point that there's been times where i think i haven't done enough of either and people have read my work and told me the opposite. i guess worldbuilding is more fun, but it's harder, which i think is probably why i like it more than character development bc that comes even easier to me than worldbuilding.

Do you have any tips for budding writers? i'll tell you exactly what my editor told me in the first class of his i took when i was 12: write like a shark. whatever you're writing, write it until it's done. go back and edit later. i've learned you can do a little bit of editing as you go once you've finished a few novels because then you know you can do it (speaking from experience; i've finished 7 and self-published 2 and am working on my 8th), but if you're new to writing and you haven't finished a book yet, don't do it. you will get caught up in it otherwise. especially if you have adhd (like i do).

Who inspires you to write the most? at the moment?? probably tamsyn muir. we have a shocking amount in common (our birthday's are literally a single day apart, though she's older than me by several years) and her books are exactly the kind of books i want to write. but also mary doria russell (duh) because we have very similar writing styles; ellen hopkins because she really was who really taught me (through me reading her books) how to write emotional stuff really well; brandon sanderson bc nothing is ever going to beat how i felt at the ending of the mistborn trilogy; and marie lu because her characters from the legend trilogy live in my mind rent free still and i can't help thinking of day every time i create a new boy.

19. Tell me a story about your writing journey. When did you start? Why did you start? Were there bumps along the way? Where are you now and where are you going?

✧ oh lordy ! the earliest i can remember writing is age 9; i used to steal the notebooks that my school classroom offered so that i could write my own stuff in them, and i would carry them with me everywhere ! i think my desire to write comes from seeing a certain media or story or concept and thinking, what would i do with that ? and so i want to write my own spin on things, and that's why i think fanfic is so fun for me, because i get to play around in a world already existing and bring my own ideas to life !

✧ as for bumps along the way — i've probably talked about this enough times that it's annoying LOL but i spent a lot of time in writing groups over the last few years, and while i will always credit them for giving me the motivation and kick in the ass i needed to try and put my original ideas on paper — it was also very damaging to my mental health LOL i think there are a lot of people that have a lot of opinions on writing and what is "good" and "bad", what is "correct", and that's fine, nothing wrong with that, but there comes a time when it's a bit too aggressive, i think, and i was younger than i am now and very nervous and shy and impressionable, and i really set what some people said to me in stone. for a good chunk of time, i was severely unhappy with my own writing because i felt like, no matter how hard i tried, i just wasn't doing it "right", and i wasn't able to squish it into this category and follow all these "rules" and i fully quit a story, walked away from its publishing date and all that i needed to edit, and spent an obscene amount of money on a cover that will probably never see the light — because i felt like i wasn't capable of doing it the "right" way.

✧ — and now i am here ! having more fun with writing than i ever have, creating things i love to share and am happy to put out into the world. i have a lot more confidence in myself as a writer, and i look at who i used to be compared to who i am now, and i think that me would be flabbergasted at the change that has occurred. so i don't regret my time with those groups, because there were plenty of wonderful things about them, but more importantly, the lessons they taught me creatively have completely changed me, in some ways. as for where i'm going, idk ! i have also said this before, but i have no idea how long i'll do this. no plans to stop in the foreseeable future, though i plan to focus on and release my own original works, one day. i have a fun, necromancy, weird-west story that i'm nervous and excited to work on, and i eventually want to return to my little elf boy that i abandoned, in all my fear, and i want to give him and his little family the story they were meant to have.

24. How much prep work do you put into your stories? What does that look like for you? Do you enjoy this part or do you just want to get on with it?

✧ hmm, this is interesting. i think it depends. i used to be a die-hard plotter, but i found that i was just spending a lot of time trying to figure out details that would maybe, maybe not make it into the actual text itself, and i would often burn myself out before even touching the first chapter. it's like, by plotting it, i've told myself the story once and so it doesn't hold as much interest for me, if that makes sense ? these days, i really enjoy discovery writing and just making shit up as i go LOL i said this earlier, but all my stories start as little here-and-there scenes in my daydreams, and sometimes — that's all they get. i also have a personal discord server that has channels sectioned out for excerpts and also categories for certain fics, that way i can save stuff there as it comes to mind, and it's really helpful because i don't always know where it's going to belong in the actual story. prep work can be really fun, i think, too fun, because it's having the joy of your creation without actually having to do the manual labor of writing it LOL sometimes i need to just get on with it, or i'll drag my feet forever.

Reasons I think Saeyoung has ADHD

- Messy house. Hard to keep it clean. Everything just kinda piles up and he relies on Vanderwood to not live in a pig sty.

- He says early in his route (day five first story mode I think. When Vanderwood is first introduced) he says that Dr. Pepper helps him focus. He drinks it and gets super focused, but then the mess piles up even more because of the soda cans.

- Super smart, especially about very specific niches. I mean he's smart in general but also has his Thing™ (this can be applied to both ADHD and the autistic spectrum. )

- Insomnia. This is part of his work obviously as well but he's clear about the fact that his sleep schedule is hecking out of whack.

- Can't focus?? Let's do everything besides the thing we need to do. Even though it will do nothing to help the situation at hand.

- Cars. Going nyoom down the road could help with stimulation and sensory issues that come with ADHD. Something about the speed just makes it make sense.

- Hyperfocus. "Don't bother me I'm trying to work". Being so focused on work that he doesn't take the time to really even order a hot meal. Forgets to eat and sleep sometimes because of it. (a lot of instances it's simply that he CAN'T or he won't meet deadlines too so that also has to be kept in mind). Building robots out of thin air too is an example.

- Inattentive. When not super focused its almost like a disinterest in anything. His focus is on MC? Well gotta do something for MC. She'll like a flamethrower pup. That will keep her safe. Wait no it wont...I thought it would tho. Gotta work!! No but MC isn't safe. (Inattentive to his work cause super focused on MC)

Symptoms of ADHD include:

Disorganization

- This goes along with the messy house. There’s a picture where he’s shown surrounded by chip crumbs. Vanderwood claims that his couch smells like soda. There are likely aspects in which he can actually be quite organized, but those would likely be in reference to his job, and computer/automotive repair.

Lack of focus

- This happens a little bit through different routes, where he complains about not being able to focus and doing some procrastinating, but for the most part the biggest example is the very beginning of his route where his focus is faltered because his mind is on MC. While that is a normal reaction to have for anyone regarding what was going on, it can’t be ignored that 1.) He WAS unfocused to the point he couldn’t do anything besides worry, or work on things that ‘Could help protect MC” regardless of if they were useful or not. and 2.) Dr. Pepper is part of the reason he is able to focus on things when he DOES focus. He says this himself in the first story-mode for his route. That he drinks it, then gets super focused. Caffeine has been proven to actually help the ADHD brain focus.

Act or speak without thinking

- “Im leaving the RFA”, breaking the RoboCat, and some of his procrastinating during his route could be considered put into this category. Also, I know he is by all technicalities saying things with thought in regard to MC when he’s saying hurtful stuff, however I still think it could be put in here because while it was said with the thought “I want to make sure MC stays away from me so she will be safe,” it’s without thinking about how he feels/what he wants and he ends up regretting it down the road.

Restlessness

- Lets see, he has trouble focusing and when he can’t focus he ends up doing other stuff to keep his hands and mind busy. He has sleep troubles. I doubt he can sit still very easily if he isn’t super-focused on something life-or-death and/or a special interest. A good example could once again be the robo-animals he built. His focus was somewhere else, there’s little he can do to remedy the situation, he gets restless and tries to occupy himself with something he CAN focus on.

Difficulty coping with stress

Mood Swings

- What I’m seeing as mood swings could also just easily be his stress and anxiety in the situation during his route causing him to bounce back and forth/ the mask he tries to put up to protect MC from getting involved with him being thrown up when he feels like he’s letting her to close. But nonetheless there are points where he will just seem sad and melancholy then get angry.

Anxiety

- I mean idrk how to explain this one for him, I don’t necessarily think that he has social anxiety, but maybe general anxiety (tho I’m not really sure how to explain how I see that in him) but regardless when he does experience pressure, he seems to have heightened anxiety levels. It just makes sense in my head so take this one a little lighter than the others.

Low self esteem

- ‘I’m not a good person” “Why do you like me?” I would say that when it comes to his looks he’s fairly confident. But when it comes to his personality (I mean he has a whole identity crisis) and actions, it’s a whole other story. He puts himself down a lot because he genuinely thinks that he doesn’t deserve MC and that she should be with someone better than him.

Impulsiveness

- Again, breaking Robocat. Felt impulsive and done without thought. His car rides could also be considered impulsive depending on how risky and speedy they may be. I recall at one point he texts MC while driving.

Trouble controlling anger

Procrastination

- I feel like I keep bringing up the robo animals a lot, but they were also a form of procrastinating his work. (I suppose there are a lot of things that could be tied to those animals then, or maybe I’m just reading to deep into things). Uhm, idk I can’t think of anymore examples atm, and I know he tries not to procrastinate super important stuff. I feel like if I were to play the game again (it’s been a couple weeks) I would be able to find more examples for this even on a minor scale. Sometimes him teasing Yoosung could be seen as both him trying to relieve some stress and put off doing his work.

~•⭐ D e p r e s s i o n ⭐•~

- Yes I know his depression comes from trauma and abuse. However ADHD overlaps with different disorders quite commonly. A lot of his ADHD symptoms overlap with depression as well, such as the disorganization, mood swings, and insomnia. And depression can very often accompany ADHD too just simply due to the fact that mental illnesses do tend to come in multiples, and also the ADHD itself can be a contributor to depression.

Those are 12 different signs that he might have ADHD...and of course I’m no doctor. Everything that I listed were things that I found through an attempt to analyze him and his route, and online research regarding ADHD. I’m sure there are things I might have over-analyzed and taken some things out of context as it has been a couple weeks since I finished his route...So feel free to add your own thoughts/opinions, regardless of if you think I’m right or wrong. This has been in my drafts for a while and I finally got it finished and will likely go through editing later but I want to post it now. If anything is hard to understand let me know and it will get fixed to the best of my ability.

Mexico and Guatemala for the writer ask meme?

Hello my dear! I may or may not have lost that ask meme for a while, but after a scary amount of scrolling, I've found it! Woo!

Mexico: What is your favourite genre to read?

Oooh oh but there's so many!

But now that I think on it more, it's fantasy, I guess.

I mean I read a lot of stuff, but almost all my favourites are stories that aren't set in our world. Or if they are, then there's secret, hidden magic/supernatural elements to our world.

I'll read dystopia type stuff, or stuff that has a cute, happy ending, and pretty much everything in between, but I just like books that take me somewhere new.

(Whole reason I got into ffxv - not because I like gaming, but because the story is good. I love the story. I can't get behind games that is just 'complete a task for the sake of it', whether the task is weeding your garden in Animal Crossing or shooting people in like, Call of Duty type games. The one exception to that is Untitled Goose Game. But c'mon. It's Untitled Goose Game.)

I guess the only other criteria is a lil' bit of angst, and unpredicatability. There's gotta be a certain amount of suspense in stories for me. Keep me guessing! Not that I'm saying I like to guess right. Okay, no, I do, but I don't like guessing it straight away?

Idk, there's just a nice amount of suspense that I enjoy, when I've had three million theories running around my brain and then just a bit before the reveal it clicks and I'm like "Oh! Of course! How didn't I see that?!"

I love those moments!

Not such a fan of plots that you can guess from like two chapters in.

Anyway, heh, that got off-topic a little ooooopps. Onto the next question

Guatemala: Do you prefer writing one-offs or series?

Now this is an interesting one.

Technically, one-offs, since I never ever ever actually plan out an entire series. That being said, I often inadvertently write series, mainly because I'll plan yet another one-off and go 'hmmm, this actually fits really well as a follow-on. OH and if I add it it makes this moment all the more angsty!'

(Yeah, nine out of ten times angst potential is my main motivator XD)

Honestly, hats off to anyone who can actually see all those little links and stuff ahead of time, I don't notice mine 'til it's staring me in the face.

Perfect case in point is my Cor series I Will Be.

Don't You Worry Child was meant to be a one-off story, and it was only when a friend read it through for me that I realised I had constructed this backstory for Cor and lightly referenced it or let it influence Cor's actions and stuff in DYWC, and I had explained none of it to my reader!

So I had to write Winter Only Brings the Dark, but it felt too long to span all the things it needed to, so then I had to write Stuck in the Middle With You, and there's still a whole bunch of road-trip shenanigans I'm writing for that series so that Cor's actions fully make sense.

and I will more than likely end up having to edit DYWC as well
