As someone who is ace, I wasn’t expecting to get anything out of Romantic Killer other than a good laugh. I have been hearing a lot about how its ace phobic and aro phobic and you know what, all these opinions would be right.
I love a found family and want all of them to just live together and love each other without the whole romantic aspect of it because I love how things are.
But despite this, I really thoroughly enjoyed the anime. I love Anzu and Kazuki and Junta, fuck it I love everyone. Especially Anzu though.
I have a lot of thoughts about the ending of the anime especially about wtf that was about with kate and (retracted bc yuck).
But honestly, yk, I wouldn’t think of it as the end of the world if Anzu did end up with someone because we know she’s amazing and compatible with everyone we’ve seen so far. Isn’t friendship the basis of a good relationship (not necessarily romantically) Though, that being said I would really love if the writers don’t play into “she must end up with someone” our girl is happy as is and even at the end of season one still didn’t see anyone romantically.
She makes me really happy because I see parts of myself in her, what I wouldn’t give to have a friend like her. When she comforted Kazuki, stood up for him, supported him, fought for him, she did the same for saki and junta and will continue to do so for everyone she cares about.
She’s amazing and definitely doesn’t need or is interested in a romantic relationship. I love her for it and I love to see it. That being said if she does end up with anyone, I don’t think it would change anything about her, and I find that comforting.

"stop making [media] your whole personality"
ah... okay. yes. so.
first off:
there's this neurodivergent thing, where you use an interest as a filter for processing the world.
for some people that is called a "special interest," for others with different needs it is more of a "hyperfixation;" there are far more variations than i (or the field of psychology) know how to describe now. if you want to understand the difference there are people who can explain those variations better than me. but i can tell you what it feels like.
you discover something.
it doesn't matter what it is; you find something that speaks to you, something you can connect to, and it becomes a bubble of safe habitat from which you can rest from and explore and connect to all the other parts of this strange chaotic world.
a source of joy. a source of illumination.
it's like you're a person who has lived all their life in dark caves and you find something that glows.
these interests can be anything.
(literally anything; i personally derive meanings that you could never imagine from ✨ drainage ditches. ✨)
but very often, they are stories. tv shows, books, movies, comics, songs, podcasts, minecraft improv streams, cartoons, web serials, whatever
these things are:
tangible. you can hold them in your hands, replay them, turn on the subtitles, take screenshots, read the sheet music
and yet
real. they form a genuine connection from your (isolated, untranslatable) internal world to other (formerly unknowable) people and the rest of the universe
they create meaningfulness
and they exist because humans find these incredibly effective soul-deep ways of communicating to one another.
now, appreciating stories, that's not a neurodivergent thing. that's a human thing.
the point of relevance here is that experiencing an extreme love for stories is a neurodivergent thing.
it's a very common neurodivergent trait which often gets mocked, portrayed as childish, and used as a pretext for infantilization and bullying.
(and it is also a trait of young people in general, to take stories very seriously in a way that looks silly to adults, and that is something that many people (regardless of age) try to bully out of each other.
what good is that doing anyone?)
"stop making [x] your whole personality"
listen, you. get down off that goddamn embankment and climb down into this ditch with me. dip your toes in this oily water. watch the stars and city lights ripple into constellations you've never seen
now look me in the eye
you need to understand that no matter what lowbrow, cringey, problematic or otherwise not-to-your-tastes drivel you might be complaining about today,
you are talking about the phenomenon of creativity
you are talking about a transcendent catalyst of human emotion
and yes that includes the overmilked disney franchises, it includes the formulaic shippy fanfictions, it includes whatever brightly-colored cartoon this website is obsessed with this year (and will be having incredibly dramatic meltdowns over next year), it includes the cheesy action movies and the fanservicey anime and the badly-designed video games and the milquetoast tiktok "literature", it includes the indistinguishable scribbles of some random five-year-old and/or famous fine artist and/or precocious elephant
i get it. you care about real life and touching grass and shit. you have taste. just take the stilts off your horse for a second, okay?
i know you're probably sick of "let people like things" discourse
i would just like for you to stop for a second and take a deep breath, and let the stench of whatever is in this mud puddle wash over you (yeah i know, ew, but you'll be fine) and consider
what is so bad about having a cringey personality, anyway?
and maybe you will think better of making "stop making [some silly moment in the universe] your personality" into your personality and maybe you will come off as a little bit less of a snob/ableist/ass and maybe you will have a slightly better outlook on life among humans.
that's all. yeah you can get out of the gutter now. thank you for coming to my ted talk—
ooh wait, look, a bottle cap

Idk how to explain this but it's a vibe I've had ever since playing Persona Q but like.
Being in SEES kinda sucks? Like ok yeah all the Persona casts end up saving the world from destruction but none of them know that.
SEES knows that's their mission, they don't know when it could end, they're way more passive compared to the others and have to wait for a giant shadow they know nothing about as more and more people fall victim to shadows
One thing I do like about reload is giving them actual combat uniforms because that's what they are at first: Soldiers. Not friends, soldiers and they're fighting a war that they're not sure they understand
Which is why I can see why taking design sensibilities from p5 in terms of movement, UI, combat animation, would feel off by making it seem... too fun? Like Persona 5's design sensibility is all about being cool and stylish, and effortless
Meanwhile SEES It feels like it shoudl be more, idk brutal? Like the difference between a nice snowy day and trudging through slush that's half-melted and getting salt in your shoes
It's not that any one thing doesn't make sense or can't be justified in universe but as a way all these design elements coalesce I can see the vibe being off for some people

Going off my prior Dungeon post, I gotta say I love fantasy biology so much that its honestly a special interest of mine. It's seldom encountered but Dungeon Meshi really does wonders with it for world-building. Other fantasy stories don't really tell you why a certain creature developed its unique quirks or how they work other than the baseline of ~magic~. Yes, dragons can breathe fire, but how? And why? While DM doesn't exactly go into depth at the latter, it still shares a lot of biological information by explaining how to cook certain creatures.
Of course if you're gonna eat a Walking Mushroom you're still gonna want to know how to tell toxic fungi apart from the actual friendly fungi. Of course that suit of armor isn't really haunted, it's instead used as a shell for a soft-bodied creature who otherwise is like a hermit crab. Yeah this creature isn't meant to be eaten but if you remove the poison sacs, cut around the extremely combustible liver, and cook out the flammable juices from its skin you can still enjoy this rare delicacy.

A lot of people make the point that Dream isn’t cold- which there is SO MUCH evidence for and I don’t need to go through it all- but I never see anyone talk about the fact that he IS repressed. Painfully so
Think about it though. He’s this incredibly powerful being with a realm that affects all humanity and is very responsive to him and his moods. He knows this, he’s aware of it. So he keeps himself so carefully in check as a way of keeping the Dreaming- and by extension the dreamers and his own creations- in check. A habit that once you form is really hard to break. So it’s easy to write him off as cold and distant and all of those things that Dream can seem on the surface, but I think it’s because Dream’s natural response is the opposite that he appears that way

Feyre seems so different in ACOWAR, I don't think she had a good enough transition between 2 and 3. It feels like there is a gap in her development. While there has been signs of Feyre being like this (purposefully keeping it vague), it feels like a switch was flipped. Even how well she is controlling her powers doesn't feel right to me, again it feels like there is a disconnect in her character development.
I'm not saying it doesn't make sense for her to be able to be this person we are seeing. It just feels like the author decided to skip ahead to avoid having to write that transition, but it also feels (to me at least) like she didn't skip ahead enough for us to not see this transition. L

I’m curious as to the strong Mike thoughts. No opinions about it myself just wondering as a Will kinnie- are you calling Will weak/unintelligent or just saying Mike is strong/smart? don’t slander my son Virg!! 😂
noooo i do not think will is weak or unintelligent lmfao. but to me, the polls that i posted simply showcase how a lot of people seem to genuinely believe will to be some buff god who is knowledgeable about everything, and mike is uhhh a fucking idiot.
like take the thumb wrestling for example. mike has larger hands so he will literally very obviously win the competition. and yet he lost the poll. there are people who argue that he loses intentionally, but like, they're both competitive teenage boys? so why would he throw the match.
the arm wrestling and chess are more up in the air for me, but idk, maybe it's just me, but it feels like people see a poll about who wins X and will vote will no matter what. even if imo the poll option is more slanted to mike's personality.

a lot of aspects of hazbin hotel are very much based on typical fan appeal without actually understanding what makes those things appealing... like sure it's immediately going to appeal to edgy white lgbts on the internet but none of it feels organic or sincere

honestly I don't think we'll ever have a DNI Like sure we'll have a DNI on specific posts - but for our whole blog? no way Like if I coin a term, who am I to say that some people aren't allowed to use it? That would just be rude of me! But I make a post specifically about how m-spec monos are amazing or endo positivity (edit: or anything else that's relevant to mention here that we forgot)? I don't want exclusionists touching that post So yeah- not quite sure where I was going with this but uh yeah that kinda I suppose!

I feel like dark matter and whatever kirby's species is can still change even after they pop out of void
Like whatever comes out of void is obviously affected by what it gets exposed to first whether it's positive or negative emotions but even after that the creature can still change and start leaning more towards the other side if it's exposed to the opposite energy Like gooey is dark matter that slowly slid a bit towards positive emotions once he met kirby
This leads into my theory on meta knight being a bit of an opposite of gooey with him being a puffball like kirby that kind of started off more positive energy leaning but fell a bit into the negative side of the scale (maybe this is because he got exposed to twitter discourse who knows)

i like how the boxes in rgu are coffins. like assigning yourself an archetype to fill keeps you in a box which is a coffin. because you die if you don't let yourself grow.

Since you are a fanfic writer, I wanted to ask what you think of the notion that fanon is better than canon?
I don't like that notion at all and it sounds pretty pretentious & presumptuous to me fjfjfj
I mean, I can see why people might prefer fanon to canon if a show has disappointed them, but saying as a generality that fanon is better than canon? Naah... Especially because what's behind "fanon", really? A lot of different things because it depends on each person's tastes, view or understanding of the show and the chatacters! I've seen terrible fanons characterisation, AUs or headcanons, just like I've seen great ones.
I love fanon because I love canon, otherwise I wouldn't be wasting my time here 😛
Sometimes people leave comments like "omg what you did is SO MUCH BETTER than the mess that is canon" and I don't like that and I personally don't consider it a compliment because it's like people are indirectly insulting my tastes haha as well as the time spent creating content for a show I love. I create fanon content because I love canon content, not because I want to fix it or something. When I write fics, I'm not trying to do better than canon or to have people think that what I do is better at all. So apart if it's to say my characterisation is on point, or that people could see it happening in canon (which are compliments because that means I've made a good job at understanding the characters and their dynamic), I'm not looking for comparison with the canon material in terms of what's better or not personally 😊
And of course canon can disappoint me and might disappoint me for all I know. But that would be a 'me' thing!
