I enjoy reading character analysis to understand them more and I've also noticed that some insert fics are like too exagerated and their personalities are far from the canon twst. I think some writers are just basing their fics to others and and makes conclusion about it and ignore important details or text on their cards?* And as a reader, I do sometimes think that "this" character are like that. Like Vil, being portrayed as narcisstic and beauty obssessed charac, I think he isnt like that and theres more to him than we think. Sorry for the long ask✌️

You're totally valid anon and I see your point, you know while I agree that each idea and interpretation on characters is worthy on its own and no one is bound to having a specific opinion or belief, getting too wild with personal fantasies and ignoring the originals can totally ruin the writing. Characters are often mischaracterized especially in reader insert fics and the most annoying part is that almost everyone is making the same mistakes about him-! Like some of the noticable mistakes would be:

(1) Femininely has nothing to do with Vil's terms of beauty

Oh lord what can I say- It's even against what Vil himself directly said through chapter five and how he cleared his point on male and female equal, and you can tell he is pretty strict about it.

Like did you just forget what he told Epel when he complained that he doesn't want to act like a girl: “a boy getting embarrassed about ‘acting like a girl,’ -- what year is your head stuck in??? did you take a time machine from 100 years ago??”

He doesn't seem to be one to appreciate the concept of labeling beauty as a female-only thing and on the other hand, he doesn't really seem to like the way women can be looked down on while being compared to men either. He seeks equality, and beauty wasn't ever defined as a feminine act in his dictionary; while there are tons of requests asking for: Vil forcing their trans s/o to wear more feminine clothes/ Vil asking their fem! s/o to wear more feminine stuff an look cuter/Vil complimenting s/o's appearance for not being feminine enough/... And literally TONS of requests like this. Please, you're forgetting one the most important parts of his personality, he considers male and female to be equal and it's so hecking important to show that he holds respect for all genders nonetheless.

(2) Vil's maturity is often ignored

Honestly, within all twst characters Vil's maturity on its own really impresses me. From the way he speaks to how serious and sincere he is all I gotta say is this man is waaay different from the way he's charactetized in most of the fics. Idk why but, he's sometimes charactetized as a guy who's ready to boil you alive if you dare touch any of his expensive make up pallettes or eyeshadows. Oh please, Vil isn't an angry child.

Also he often decides to keep his anger in, though you can tell when he's mad by just looking at his face. Clinching fists, trying not to talk and most likely, walking off or asking people to leave him alone until he calms down a bit is most likely his usual way of expressing his anger, but I've seen him being described as a loud, feral figure like Riddle is! Oh god no- Are you just ignoring how calm and collected Vil often tends to be?

(3) What's with the potato fetish?

While it's canon that Vil can sometimes call people around him potato. You may like to know that in some languages, potato is translated as "Apple of the ground", which can be an interesting reason of him using this nickname for people.

Watching Vil call students potatoes can be as entertaining as watching Malleus play with his tamagotchi, but again, it's important to realize that you don't have to only use potato when you're thinking of what Vil might say in a reader insert/situation!

Come on there are hundreds of different statements and sentences you can use other than just 'potatoes' and it'll get boring to read him saying the same nick name over and over in a fic. Good lord of course this isn't the only word he uses in communication so please try to avoid using it too much. This, is NOT the only word that he knows to use! (Seriously though I've seen being used like 6 times in a 500-word drabble)

(4) Please avoid spreading false information about him and his personality

Funny how I'm saying it here, but don't forget that you do not own him! Vil Schoenheit is a property of Disney/ Aniplex and all, which means that no one can certainly decide on his sexuality/ background/ unexplained character details unless it's officially announced.

Why am I saying this? Because some people are seriously going to far! I've seen people attacking others saying that Vil's pronouns are She/Her and not He/ Him like: EXCUSE ME...???

I don't want to get into details explaining how this drama is going but I've got to say something anyway, YOU DON'T HAVE THE RIGHT TO DECIDE ON HIS PRONOUNS! None of us do!

It's totally okay to have your personal preferences on his pronouns or anything else, but you must avoid spreading such information and forcing them on others as long as they aren't confirmed! Please keep your headcanons for yourself and don't confuse the fandom with them. Everyone's free to have their own headcanons but it's never okay to force them on others!

(5) Vil has a LOT to talk about other than just beauty!

Man... sometimes I feel like the fandom is just doing him dirty. Most of the reader inserts, fics , and even Vil memes have something to do with beauty while it's important to try and look through his personality as well instead of just sticking with the beauty aspect.

For example, through the Halloween event, I couldn't be any more surprised when Vil found the crying child who had lost their parents through the crowd and instead of just leaving them to headmaster or asking someone to take care of them he actually started to play with the child and entertrain and confront them on his own! That was probably one of his sweetest moments through the whole game and it really changed my mind about him! It was great to know that Vil as well can have a softer side when it comes to children, just imagine how good this can be used while writing a father AU for him!

His talents on the other hand need to be recognized, for example: his acting skills back in the ghost marriage proved how much of a great actor he can be and this can also give us lots of ideas to use in writings. On the other hand he's much of a celebrity on his own ( Woop- he's also got 2m followers on magicam) which gives us another great plot to write for him.

The way he is around close friends, how he compliments them and gets complimented by them in return, the way he manages Pomefiore and tries to put the students into doing their best in using their skills and lots of more interesting details that can be found through his stories are there to tell you that he's a lot more than just a beautiful Queen. A considerable part of his background as well is going to be released at he end of chapter 5 (Yes baby after the overblot Vil) and I hope that gives us all the opportunity to come up with stronger personalities and plots next time that we're describing or even, characterizing Vil!

Lmao I kind of rushed to finish this so I didn't get to talk about him as much as I wanted to, but hope that this is useful anyway.

This ask was going to be too long so imma have to split it up! 1. Hey! I think your headcannons and your writing are just so, so, so fantastic! I've been lingering around the fandom for some time now and this blog has really had me hooked! Wanted to know if you had some headcannons on Allison? I have a lot of questions regarding her and her powers, but also her career? Because? She's? A? Movie? Star? And? International? Celebrity?

“2. Like, we hear just a sliver about her work, about the romantic comedies and such, and we know she’s enough of a name to be hounded by photographers at premiers and to be talked about by gossip mags, but what level of celebrity is she? Because people don’t seem to always recognise her when they’re walking around in the city, but she is established as “super famous” and Vanya calls her “one of the most famous people in the world”.“

“3. What has her career been like? How was it starting out after everyone knew her from The Umbrella Academy? Did she ever win an Oscar? Is Patrick also an actor? Does she ever get discredited for her career due to her powers? How much did she really rumor her way to the top? I know I’m throwing a lot at you, but yeah, just wanted to know what you thought about it!”

Allison!! gotta love Allison, i have no idea about some of those questions rip honestly i think some part is just,, they live in a populated area. That could be Allison Hargreeves who is supposed to be on the other side of the country, or it could just be someone who looks like her idk. I also,, admittedly don’t know enough about celebrity lifestyles since i don’t follow actors for the most part oof BUT i can provide headcanons anyway!!

so first and foremost: I think that baby Allison learned very quickly that there were solid rules she couldn’t get around and as long as she operated within those rules she could get away with almost anything. And the top rule, the untouchable rule, was hammered into her as soon as it was revealed what her power was: Don’t rumor Reginald Hargreeves

and yes i do believe that this lesson was hammered home with pain the first time Allison opened her mouth to her father and “I heard -” came out of it. You don’t rumor Dad, or else it isn’t going to be Klaus who has the story about the broken jaw being wired shut (maybe it doesn’t even have to be broken)

and since Grace is a robot i don’t think she’s capable of being rumored, and so there’s that threat hanging over Allison’s head when Grace shows up. He made Grace to deal with Vanya’s powers, but he’s always been a multitasker. If it’s discovered that Reginald has been rumored, he has a backup immune to her powers to punish her.

Allison, as a child and definitely to some extent as an adult, is manipulative. She knows how to get what she wants, and she knows that she wants to be safe. Which is part of the reason, I think, she latched onto Luther the way she did instead of any of her other brothers. Luther was the golden child, their leader - he a) had at least some level of their father’s favor and was the most likely person in the family to be able to stay his hand should something happen and b) was in charge of the mission and as such could have Allison take the safer or less gross jobs as he’d want to protect her

I mean, I definitely think she was genuinely fond of him from the start and everything, but those calculations definitely factored in with why exactly she started to favor him so blatantly over the rest of her siblings

i think she was pretty content with her life right up until she saw her first movie or flipped open a magazine and saw glamorous actors and actresses and was like “i want that. i want to do that. i want to be at the top of the food chain where no one can hurt me or order me ever again, and i have all the power” because Reginald is pretty much the only one she’ll take orders from, though she does accept Luther’s orders more often than not (she has rumored her siblings before without a single ounce of guilt - in fact, rumoring her siblings used to be a part of her training until it got dangerous)

so when she leaves home, she does so glamorously already with a lead role waiting for her that she may or may not have rumored her way into getting. the world may never know.

and she keeps going. she needs some rumors, doesn’t need others, because Allison genuinely is a very good little actress. She’s been playing manipulation and walking the line her entire life, she’s good and that deserves to be recognized

and then she meets patrick

and she falls in love

and it’s real. I don’t think she rumored Patrick (I think that little ‘I heard a rumor you loved me’ thing was a nod to the comics, where Allison rumored Luther into loving her. The wording is loose and almost naive, she doesn’t specify romantic or platonic or familial or whatever love idk) I think she actually did her level best to NOT rumor patrick

because at the end of the day what Allison craves above all else is something real

so she falls in love with patrick. they date. it’s hard, because it’s one of the first times that she actually has to make an effort. And Patrick is charmed by that! He thinks she’s wonderful, and Allison undertakes her biggest role yet: making herself the perfect romantic partner for Patrick. Because she loves him, and she doesn’t want to lose him, and she doesn’t want to take the chance that all her jagged broken edges and childhood trauma would scare him off

and they get married, and allison doesn’t invite her siblings because she’s still scared he’ll see how broken she is from her childhood and her broken siblings and want to call the whole thing off or something i don’t know. but she doesn’t invite them. it’s a big huge wedding, and some of them send her congratulations and everything, but none of them come. She doesn’t know whether to be relieved or heartbroken

and then she has Claire! Beautiful magnificent Claire, and Allison loves her so much her breath is stolen away at times. But she’s not good with Claire the way Patrick is, she panics when Claire cries and doesn’t know what the different cries mean. She goes to mothering classes and feels like the worst person in the world because it doesn’t come naturally to her, and if it doesn’t come naturally does that make her a bad mother?

But Claire grows up, and Allison gets more and more stressed about her worth as a mother because the only parental figures she had were: Grace, a literal robot who never got tired, never got angry, and was literally programmed to be the perfect mother for them all. and Reginald, who ruled the house with an iron fist and ignored her on the best of days and paid far too much attention to her on the worst and she constantly wavered between wanting both of those things.

and she didn’t tell patrick about any of that, so he’s oblivious to her growing distress because god damn none of the Hargreeves excel in communication

the first time Allison rumors Claire all she can feel is guilty relief. Because Claire is happily playing with no sign of the tantrum she was about to throw and Allison is frazzled because she’s trying to deal with being a mother on top of not giving up her acting career and she’s tired and stressed and doesn’t feel like she can talk to patrick about it because the last time they talked he suggested she take a break from her career and she needs her career and just -

She only does it a few times. Not many. Not enough that she thinks it warrants an intervention or anything - just when Claire is being so difficult and Allison is so tired and -

(she maybe does it more than a few times)

and Patrick finds out. And they have a big fucking row over it. and Allison promises not to do it again because she loves Patrick (Patrick asks Allison with betrayed eyes if she ever rumored him and she can proudly tell him no but - he looks at her and she realizes that he doesn’t believe her and that hurts unbelievably a lot)

and she manages, for months, to not do it. To deal with Claire’s screaming tantrums and not rumor her. And it’s HARD

but then she’s reading Claire a story, and Allison is so tired and strung out, and Claire is demanding another story and won’t go to sleep and it just - it slips out. A habit she’s trying to train herself out of. And of course the one time she slips up Patrick is right there and -

They’re getting divorced. They’re getting divorced and Patrick wants full custody of Claire - he says he doesn’t trust her around her own daughter anymore. And it would be so easy to rumor him, to make all of this go away but - isn’t that what got her into this mess? The fact that her go-to solution is rumoring whatever she doesn’t like? She accepts the judge’s decision. She goes to the therapy. She works on being able to get back to her daughter.

then reggie dies and the whole thing happens and Allison goes home and

suddenly the goal of being a good mother mixes with learning what a good family looks like and so Allison decides she’s going to make an effort and be a good sister for Vanya. And old habits are so easy to fall into (she snaps at Allison when the wound of Patrick not letting her speak to Claire is still so raw, falls back and aims at the weakest target to make herself feel better and she hates herself for it) but she vows to do better

this got really long so i’ll cut it off here but if u want more like,, present day or no apocalypse allison or her relationships with her sibs feel free to ask for those this was just mainly aimed at before canon Allison lmao

I'll gladly wait for your response to my ask (or asks??? we'll see one day ehehehe)! I feel you, when people cite some of my text messages from a few months (or more) ago I'm often like "nope, nah-ah, that's not me, you're wrong". Same for older essays, I often can't believe I wrote those. And even with things I wrote late at night a few weeks ago, sometimes I'm like "I wrote that? That monstrosity??? Okay, I need more sleep before writing". (My capacity of writing in correct English grammar usually goes to sleep before I do, same goes for varied word choice). But sometimes I'll see this project I've worked on YEARS ago and exactly recognize the pieces I wrote? Since the ask would be fairly recent, I suppose I would recognise my writing style and word choice and since I didn't wrote it whilst sleep deprived (I hope??) I'm setting my chances of recognising it pretty high. But we'll see one day, the mystery will marinate for a while... [I am rereading this in the daytime, and this is EXACTLY what I meant, at night I make the weirdest word choices?? I’m definitely not changing it though because I might find it kinda funny]

I snorted so hard about the way you talked about your almost-name, I'm giggling here like crazy. Apparently my name means something alike 'dedicated to God', but my parents aren't really believers, so gotta love that. The meaning of my sibling's name is 'summer', but I'm the one born in the summer, whilst my sibling is born in autumn, oops. Guess my parents never checked one of those sites/ books where you can find the meaning of a name hahaha.

I love how my ask was so weird and chaotic that you sent a screenshot to a friend. I LOVE that she had no idea what was going on. Then again, I watched the semis (obviously hahaha) but I had no idea what was going on either... But honestly it was peak Dutch culture, water and bicycles, I would just add an ode to 'hagelslag' and voila, the entirety of Dutch culture summed up... [Also: if you don't know: 'hagelslag' is just sprinkles which we eat on bread, yes, on bread, we do not not only eat sprinkles as on cake or on donuts, like in any other country, no, we put it on bread. It's actually a really popular sandwich topping here. My ultimate favourites are the chocolate ones, but you also have them in several fruity flavours (like forest fruit) and anise flavour.] Thank you, perfect chaotic energy is an ultimate goal I strive towards *bows like I'm Victorian royalty or something*

You're absolutely right, it went EXACTLY like that. Specifically, I would be studying for my exams, explaining topics to myself like I always do, so I'd tell myself "The six possible origins of economies of scope are indivisibility, specialisation, marketing, research and development, GUESS WHAT.. SUBWAY DRIVER GANDÍA... ehhh... what was I doing again??" OR: "one of the most detailed and most used models of responsive regulation is Brathwaite's piramid. His enforcement piramid visually shows, nope not important, SUBWAY DRIVER GANDÍAAAAAA" And I'd laugh, continue explaining theories and calculations to myself until my focus started lessening again and my thoughts would wander off again. I am VERY glad I'm not the only one who thinks about it from time to time, and I'm glad you're not suing me for any mental harm yet.

Yess, those pictures I saw from Promising Young Woman look so beautiful and aesthetic!! I'll probably watch it somewhere after the 16th, because I'll most likely have finished my last exams by then. I'll tell you what I thought about it! Thank you SO SO SO much for all the luck wishes!!!! I had an exam last Friday and I absolutely rewarded myself, because it went better than I expected and I passed an earlier exam and a paper too! I didn't buy myself a tricorne (yet), but I did buy funko pops (my inner economist said it was 100% rational because it was a really good deal hahaha). I still have two exams to go, so I could always buy a tricorne for finishing either of those, OR. EVEN BETTER. I'll ask my parents (or my grandparents) for one for my birthday. I mean, that would be hilarious. They'd be so confused. They've never seen S3 and S4 of LCDP so they'll have no idea, even if I tried to explain it. It would be so incredibly funny (and really really weird for them), I am laughing like crazy just at the thought of it.

I've never been in Finland before, but those temperatures do not sound legal indeed. I have no knowledge of Finnish law, but maybe article 3 of the European Convention on Human Rights, the prohibition of torture, would work? If I was the judge I’d 100% agree, so we should all sue the weather sksksks. I'm glad to have brought you rain though (and that I apparently possess the power to do so - magic weather controlling pirate seems like a nice enough job to me)!!! I hope the temperature has become at least somewhat lower. You're right, climate change should just... stop... right away. The weather is pretty weird here, right now: one day it will be super sunny and (at least) around 27 degrees and almost melting away, and the other day it will be raining and I'll be wearing my warmest sweater. I love that I am able to make you lose your coherent thoughts (that's probably why we have one brain energy about Underwater, because I, too, have the ability to make myself lose my coherent thoughts). I'm glad for your faith in my impersonation of Martín. I even started Duolingo Spanish again, and now know the phrase, "Yo bebo leche" (I drink milk) which obviously would be very important to him. Now I'll just need an Argentinian accent to go with it. Leaning menacingly on a cane would be GREAT, I love the idea. I'll open job applications for a Denver. Maybe my cat could help me, she, much like Denver, is super loud and she is super aggressive towards other cats, so there is potential there. And guiding dogs and even tiny guiding horses exist, why not a guiding cat?

I always assumed I would follow a more... you know… legal... career path, maybe even literally a career in law. But, my accounting professor also showed us how to manipulate financial statements ("so you can notice when people are doing this", uh-huh sure, sure that’s why) and another professor of mine also said that a criminal career sometimes could be the more rational, rewarding choice over a legally acceptable career. So, I suppose I should not be surprised by this sudden change of career plans. I should have seen this coming. And what better way to be able to avoid the laws than by knowing exactly what they are and how far you can go. And if that plan doesn’t work out, the books of law I have (they’re combined in two huge hardcover bundles) are really heavy and you could probably harm someone with them if you hit hard enough… Well, I suppose you can even leave “hard” away, just by hitting someone softly with those books you can bring serious harm to them… Ah, and like that one professor would say: in this scenario it would be a rational choice to become a pirate instead of a privateer. Oh dear, not Arturito :/ Mutiny would seem like a good option, I’ll take over the ship and become Palermo the Pirate. Sounds much and much better than “Arturo the Pirate”, since that isn’t an alliteration, sooo mutiny is reasonable even for that reason. And then there’s the fact that it’s Arturo, I mean, that says enough.

Last week has been pretty good (except for having to make a test at 9:30, what a godless time, I’m usually barely awake by then ehehehe), I think I aced the test I had, got back some good grades and finally got my first Covid vaccination (and only shortly slight dizziness as a side effect, so that's pretty great). And thanks so much!!! For now I’m safe from Gandía, but somewhere in mid-July I’ll have to take an exam on campus, so I’ll might be able to bring out my inner Palermo then.

I'm going to my university city for the weekend and I'm already wondering which beret(s) I should bring with me. This is an important decision with potential long-lasting consequences. I don't know if you've played any of Telltale's games (The Wolf Among Us and the first two seasons of The Walking Dead are the best ones, fight me), but when you make a decision and the game goes "This character will remember that." and you instantly go oh no what have I done??? That's how I feel about choosing the perfect beret for my city outing. But yes, weather extremes are just the worst. We've been having the longest drought I've ever seen here (it's still not properly rained, for the record, on Tuesday it rained for an hour or so) while in other places there's awful flooding. That's awful.

Ahhh I'm so happy you're continuing your Spanish-learning!! I took a beginner's course at uni in the spring semester, I'm going to take the next one when uni resumes in September. And yes, I'm studying it for LCDP. I mean I love languages in general, but I never had a particular need to study Spanish, until this year I suddenly did. I'm also Duolingo-ing it! Very slowly and steadily. Also, I adore the idea of your cat being your Denver. What's your cat's name??? What do they look like?? Tell me everything, you can't just leave it at my cat, you simply must allow me to meet them. Also, you know why guide cats aren't a thing? Because cats are the worst. I love cats, but you can't just teach them to do useful things. They'll do them if they want to. As I type this, my cat is trying to catch flies at my feet. Her name is Muusa.

I studied accounting for my undergrad!! So I can join you in [[[preventing]]] tax fraud and [[[recognising]]] tampering with financial statements. We can make a totally legitimate business out of it. No but truly, I'm certain we were taught some of those things with the expectation that our future employers would expect it of us. Capitalism is so fun :)))))) And you shouldn't be surprised, academia is but a stepping stone to crime, honestly. Any dark academia book will tell you this. You start out learning Latin and wearing turtlenecks, you end up with murder. That's just how academia works. I'm so happy to hear you got your covid vaccine!!!! I had mine a month ago or so - I typed you a reply to the subway Gandía thing on the train ride back, actually. I was really stressed about getting it on my right arm, because I'm left-handed, and last time I got a vaccination (like a decade ago) they insisted on giving it on my left arm and I was sad :( But this time!! I got it on my chosen arm and was very pleased. So anyway, that was a segue. I'm glad you got your covid shot and were side effect -free!!!

My week has been good, thank you!! I went to my uni city for my niece's birthday on Monday, and as said I'm going back on Friday (tomorrow). So this time in between has felt like exactly that, time in between. I started reading Call Me By Your Name. I had my Korean class last night. Now I'm hanging out with my cat (she has stopped chasing flies and climbed to my lap) and talking to you. My holidays started already in May! And uni resumes in the beginning of September, but I'm a tutor for new students so I need to show up three weeks earlier for the orientation weeks. Yes, we do three weeks of orientation (read: three weeks of drinking). It's a bit insane.

Now I need to ask you again how your week has been, since I'm so slow. How has your week been?? Are you free from your exams?? When does your uni resume?

Stroopwafels are so good ahhh I'll have to buy them when and or if I see them. Possibly when I'm in central Europe but haha I can hope to be lucky and see them at a store with imported stuff, you know. My favourite cookies??? And of course they're Fazer. Because Finnish people have only one setting, apparently. Or maybe that's just me. But all cookies are great, honestly. I like making American cookies, that's always a fun pastime (and you get to have cookie dough, that's like half the fun). I've actually not made them for a lifetime??? Maybe I should, soon. I'll keep you updated. Also, brookies. I love making brookies, they're great.
