Horror Podcast Rec - The White Vault
Caught up on the latest episode today, and if you haven't listened to this series yet, I highly recommend it. Especially for Magnus Archives/Protocol fans if you need something to tide you over between eps.
The premise of the first season is that a team is sent out to investigate a signal at a remote Arctic outpost... only to get immediately snowed in by a sudden and unexpected storm. While exploring the outpost, they find a network of underground tunnels that turn out to be much, much older and full of more horrors than anyone could have expected.
It's brilliantly acted with a cast from all over the world despite being put together by a very small team. S1 and S2 are relatively self-contained and focused on the events at Svalbard, but later seasons and bonus seasons take us all over the world, as we find out the Svalbard outpost was not an isolated incident.

If my mom sees a significant amount of blood she gets lightheaded, and has fainted on some occasions. Once it happened when we were kids, I wasn't there to witness it but I heard the story from my dad. Basically my brothers, around 7 or 8 at the time, were playing outside while my mom was making their lunch, and she accidentally cut her finger. It wasn't anything serious, but it drew a fair bit of blood and she passed out. My dad saw this and rushed over, but he didn't really know what to do so he just sort of started slapping her to wake her up (not recommended, but he had no idea and panicked)
At that exact moment my brothers both came in from playing, and all they saw was our mom unconscious on the floor and our dad slapping her. So, like, without even saying a word to each other they both just INSTANTLY start whaling on him, like, full blown attack mode to defend our mom. Which obviously didn't help the situation, but she did wake up and everything was fine.
Now our dad says that he's actually really glad they attacked him over what they thought was going on, because it means he raised good boys. And I still think that's true, they're very good boys.

Have you drawn Vittorio before? I'd like to see what he looks like pls.
Vittorio's design has given me more trouble than I expected, I'm still not sure if I'm happy with his looks. He's Machete's trusted personal secretary, a small and modest but resourceful and resilient man. I think he's somewhere in his mid 20's.

Hot off the presses, it's the first (and probably only) issue of Vatore Magazine! Pick up your copy now to see all 22 (!) looks in detail, shop the must-have CC, and - most importantly - collect some new scraps of coveted Vatore lore. 👀
READ VATORE MAGAZINE (PDF)
So, yeah, guess who thought they were going to do a straightforward decades lookbook and ended up making things entirely too complicated? 🙋♀️ The visual side of my brain is always tickled when CC creators put together little catalogs for their collections. That was my initial inspiration. Then I did a half-baked magazine cover concept and wanted to make a better one. I used this template as a base, and the headlines ended up being the most fun part. Anyway, I don't know how many people will click the link let alone scroll through the entire thing, but you'll be rewarded with several paragraphs of Vatore history if you do. I did this more to properly establish their timeline for myself than anything else, but I put a lot of care and time into it, so I appreciate anyone who reads. ❤️

Headcanon: The Aquarians relationship with nature.
Aquarians are very respectful of the ocean and acknowledge it is not a friendly environment or something they can be controlled, but an uncontrollable force of nature that does not favour one species over the other. The world is ever changing and they must change with or be doomed to go extinct and replaced by something that can. The Gods are akin to nature spirits, everything is alive and the Aquarians need to respect the world they share with these spirits. They occasionaly try to gain the gods favour but are under no illusion that the spirits see them as children made “in their image” or that they are held to a higher standard than any other lifeform, it’s a symbiotic relationship.
This is a lifestyle that is slowly being phased out by the current generation of colonists who have never stepped foot on their mother planet and are the dominating force on the moon colonies. Aquarians control everything on colonies, from the layout of the city structure, to the underwater currents, to the distribution of food. Aquarians are the dominant (and only) species and don’t really understand the importance of protecting nature when nearly everything they’ve been raised with is synthetic.

and you may say to yourself: "my god! what have i done?"
and you may tell yourself: "this is not my beautiful wife!"
and you may tell yourself: "this is not my beautiful house!"
and you may ask yourself: "well, how did i get here?"

Who becomes the closest with splinter after they decide “hey maybe we shouldn’t kill humanity?”
I'm not sure, honestly. I guess Leo? He's already on the Lou Jitsu hypetrain, something he feels a lot of guilt about considering he views Splinter as evil. So when he figures out that Splinter isn't actually a terrrible person he'd be pretty excited to get to know him better. And while Leo isn't exactly neglected by Draxum, he still doesn't usually get quite all attention he needs from his dad (middle child lol) so he might be quicker to seek out an extra father figure.
Raph and Mikey would eventually get closer to Splinter as well, though!
